The middle of the fifth week of action is here, beginning with...
Verizon Field Events Center, Pacific: Starlight v. Graham. The red cue has today's first series in 7-ball. Game 1 looked sloppy on both sides, none worse than Starlight's miss on the 7 after clipping the edge of a pocket. Eastside's Graham gladly took the win instead, going up 1-0 in the series. The Volcanoes' Starlight again had a chance to pick up a win in game 2, but her cut on the 7 left it outside the bottom left. The Sharks' Graham mopped it up for another win, clinching the series at 2-0. Starlight, somewhat vindictively, made the 1-7 combination on her only shot in game 3 after Graham scratched on the break. Graham still won the series 2-1 to get to the second round.
UPS Hall, Maplewood: Gabe v. Strawberry. The red cue gets another look for this 15-ball series. Maplewood's Gabe had a better share of the offense with a late four-ball run, but he still needed Victoria's Strawberry to scratch after making the 14. Gabe took the 15 from ball-in-hand for the win and 1-0 series lead. Game 2 went back and forth in poor form until the Lumberjacks' Gabe eventually made the last two balls to secure the series at 2-0 over the Spurs' Strawberry. In game 3, Strawberry peaked too early with a six-ball run, as Gabe would later bank in the 15 to the top right to snag the win for a 3-0 series sweep. Gabe is off to the second round.
Google Hall, Modernistic: Sydney C. v. Crystal. Back in 7-ball, the blue cue gets its first series of the day. Modernistic's Sydney C. made four balls on the game 1 break, putting the 3 and 5 in the bottom right, the 6 in the bottom side, and the 7 for the win in the top side to go up 1-0 in the series over Queens' Crystal. The Union's Sydney C. had a tougher start when she scratched on the break in game 2, but the Flames' Crystal butchered a shot on the 7 late and Sydney C. cleaned it up for the win to seal the series at 2-0. Sydney C. had a solid break in game 3, but she scratched near the end, and Crystal potted the 7 from ball-in-hand for the win. Sydney C. still won the series 2-1 to earn a place in the second round.
Microsoft Center, Del Sur: Salmo v. Lionel. Players new to their teams meet in 15-ball with the red cue. Southern's Salmo did enough to grab the win in game 1, ending on a three-ball run-out after finally getting past the slowdown set up by North Modernistic's Lionel. The Monarchs' Salmo attacked with more intent early in game 2, but he couldn't stop a push from the Nighthawks' Lionel at the end, as the visitor won on a five-ball run-out. Lionel's late rally tied the series at 1 game apiece. Lionel had a chance at game 3, but he scratched while trying to get positioning, allowing Salmo to end the back-and-forth battle with the 15 at the bottom side. Salmo won the series 2-1 and will play in the second round.
Starbucks Arena, Archtown: Sally v. Patches. A pair of captains go at it in Accuracy with the blue cue. Boston's Patches only missed once late in game 1, with the result well in hand as she took the 1-3 win from Archtown's Sally. Patches leads the series 1-0. The Arrows' Sally put up a competitive effort in game 2, but she couldn't quite hold the tie through regulation, allowing Patches to escape with the 3-4 win this time. Patches clinched the series at 2-0. In game 3, both players were perfect through regulation, but it took Sally three tries to capitalize on Patches' misses in overtime. Sally's 2-3 win made it a 2-1 series win for Patches, who is into round two.
Home Depot Forum, Web City: Ted v. Sparkles. The blue cue stays in action for this series of 9-ball. Golden's Sparkles made all but one ball in game 1, doing so over four turns to best Web City's Ted for the 1-0 series lead. The Pilots' Sparkles got things done much quicker in game 2, making the 4 on the break and the 1-9 combination to the top right on the next shot for the win. Sparkles' win left the Spiders' Ted stunned as Sparkles clinched the series at 2-0. Ted made a pair of three-ball runs in game 3, but he left the door open late, and Sparkles converted a pair of shots for the win. Sparkles swept the series 3-0 to move into the second round.
Coca-Cola Field Exhibition Center, Boston: Ice Cream v. Chris. The silver cue gets a crack at 9-ball to bring the day to half-completion. Boston's Ice Cream got going with a three-ball run in game 1, and then closed out a four-ball run-out with a 6-9 combination to the top right. Capital City's Chris looked listless as Ice Cream took the 1-0 series lead. The Swifts' Ice Cream knocked a six-ball run from the break in game 2, and then added a three-ball run-out, again stomping the Sharpshooters' Chris to clinch the series at 2-0. Ice Cream looked ready to dominate in game 3, but she scratched to end her five-ball run, and Chris fired back with a four-ball run-out for the win. Ice Cream took the series 2-1 to earn the right to host the Pronger Tridents' Potter in the second round.
Starbucks Arena, Archtown: Sally v. Sugar. The host plays her second series today in 15-ball with the red cue. After a fairly mixed start to game 1, Swordpoint's Sugar locked in a bit with five of the last seven balls for the win, as Archtown's Sally butchered her chance on the 15. Sugar owns a 1-0 series lead. Game 2 had a very back-and-forth ending, which saw the Arrows' Sally scratch late, only for the Blades' Sugar to miss a kick on the 15. Sally converted a tap-in for the win to tie the series at 1 game apiece. Game 3 went right down to the wire with even play on both sides until Sally potted the final pair to get the win and the 2-1 series win over Sugar. Sally heads to a second-round series against the Southern Monarchs' Salmo.
Nissan Hall, Infinity: Mr. Snowman v. Charli. A Southwestern rivalry match occurs in 12-ball with the silver cue. Both players showed quality in strategy, but Infinity's Mr. Snowman had more success in execution, while Tysini's Charli whiffed at the top left. Mr. Snowman holds the 1-0 series lead. The Torpedoes' Mr. Snowman again had solid execution in game 2, aided by the Hummingbirds' Charli falling behind when she committed a scratch. Mr. Snowman's win clinched the series in his favor at 2-0. Despite looking a bit flustered in game 3, Charli managed to hook the win out from under Mr. Snowman with her three-ball run-out. Mr. Snowman still took the series 2-1 to get into the second round.
UPS Hall, Maplewood: Bryant v. Acorn. The silver cue stays on as two veterans clash in 9-ball. Maplewood's Bryant took game 1 on a three-ball run-out, potting the 9 surprisingly after a favorable hit from the 5. The stunning win gave the host a 1-0 series lead over Lighton's Acorn. The Prestige's Acorn grabbed a larger chunk of the offense in game 2, and then fought off the Lumberjacks' Bryant nimbly at the end for the win to tie the series at 1. Bryant had a big six-ball run in game 3, pacing the attack for much of the game, but he whiffed on a kick for the 9 at the top side, and Acorn put it away on a tap-in to take the win and the 2-1 series. Acorn will visit a Southwestern rival in the second round, facing the Tysini Hummingbirds' Paps.
Chevrolet Center, Everton: Puff III v. Dani. The blue cue cycles in again for this 7-ball series. Everton's Puff III had a hot start in game 1, but Viewpoint Sound's Dani fought fire with fire, blasting a three-ball run-out for the win that sees Dani take the early 1-0 series lead. The Meteors' Dani needed three turns and a pair of three-ball runs to get the win, but she made every ball as the Eagles' Puff III couldn't quite make a long-distance poke on the 7 near the top left. Dani secured the series at 2-0. Dani had a closer battle with Puff III in game 3, but Dani didn't have any trouble taking the win to sweep the series 3-0. Dani is into round two.
T-Mobile Center, Victoria: Sage v. Sweetheart. Club-mates meet in 13-ball with the blue cue this time. Victoria's Sage trailed for much of game 1, but found her way at the end while Boston's Sweetheart scrambled for positioning. Sage casually pulled ahead and took the win for a 1-0 series lead. The Swifts' Sweetheart needed some time to get things lined up, but she finished off game 2 just in time to beat the Spurs' Sage for the win, which tied the series at 1. Sweetheart had the hot start in game 3, but once again positioning was evasive for the veteran, buying Sage the time to use a strategic scratch to her advantage. Sage won the game and a 2-1 series to put herself in the second round.
Apple Center, Todavía: Ruby v. Crystal. Two big-name veterans go at it in 8-ball with the red cue. Queens' Crystal made an impressive comeback effort in game 1 with a five-ball run-out, but she scratched on the 8 to gift the win away to Todavía's Ruby anyway. Ruby leads the series 1-0. The Flames' Crystal went big with an early five-ball run in game 2, and she got down to the 8, but she missed it. The Stills' Ruby used a two-part comeback, ending with an easy three-ball run-out to earn the win that clinched the series in her favor at 2-0. Crystal finally broke through with a win in game 3, battling quite closely with Ruby throughout. Ruby did take the series 2-1 to advance to the second round, where she hosts the Southridge Defenders' Caitlin.
Google Hall, Modernistic: Kodiak v. Mams. Today's final series is in Rotation with the blue cue. Southern's Mams dominated in game 1, making a pair of four-ball runs to easily counter Modernistic's Kodiak being limited to a single ball on the break. Mams' 8-1 win gave her a 1-0 series lead. The Union's Kodiak bounced back with a firm attack in game 2, making a four-ball run-out for the 8-3 win that tied the series at 1 with the Monarchs' Mams. In game 3, both players had their moments of success, but Mams pulled away at the end, taking the 8-6 win to win the series 2-1 over Kodiak. Mams is the latest to punch her ticket to the second round.
Play resumes with Day 24 tomorrow.

Tournament 2019 - Round 1 Day 22
The grind continues today, beginning with...
Apple Center, Todavía: Bells v. Violetta. The blue cue gets the first series of the day, playing in 8-ball. Queens' Violetta had the first attack in game 1, and while Todavía's Bells made it close and interesting, Violetta was able to finish her win with a four-ball run-out to take a 1-0 series lead. The Flames' Violetta continued with a good start in game 2, but she was unable to get the finish she wanted. The Stills' Bells pushed back with a four-ball run and eventually got the win to tie the series at 1. Game 3 was a bit slow at the start, but Violetta pulled ahead near the end and grabbed the win to beat Bells 2-1 in the series. Violetta will head to the second round.
Kraft Forum, Royal: Cassie v. Sydney C. The silver cue takes a turn now as club-mates meet in Rotation. Modernistic's Sydney C. overcame a two-ball break by Royal's Cassie, as Sydney C. took the lead by mid-game and never looked back in her 8-4 win for a 1-0 series lead after game 1. The Union's Sydney C. made it even easier with a four-ball run to start game 2. The Crowns' Cassie had a small response before Sydney C. potted a three-ball run, and she finished the 8-2 win over the next turn to secure the series at 2-0. Sydney C. didn't get as good of a start in game 3, and Cassie exploited that and Sydney C.'s late scratch for the 8-4 win. Sydney C. settles for a 2-1 series win to get into the second round.
Mercedes-Benz Forum, Harrison: Lexi v. Dusky. Northeastern rivals battle in 12-ball with the silver cue. Harrison's Lexi had a hot start in game 1, but she faded under pressure from Archtown's Dusky, who managed to power through Lexi's defense at the top left to snag the win for a 1-0 series lead. The Arrows' Dusky gave a wild-card ball on the game 2 break and still managed to beat the Specters' Lexi at the end, as Dusky's strong positioning paced her attack. Dusky clinched the series at 2-0. Dusky couldn't follow up on her shots in game 3, unable to gain a positional advantage. Lexi walked away with the win this time to cut the series to 2-1. Dusky will make it to the second round.
Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Neopolitan v. Acorn. Experienced foes meet in Accuracy with the blue cue. Lighton's Acorn started out fairly well in game 1, but he fell apart at the end while Pearl's Neopolitan held on fairly well to get the 3-5 win and 1-0 series lead. The Prestige's Acorn kept it pretty close for much of game 2, but he couldn't capitalize on a late fade by the Surfers' Neopolitan, who used all the buffer she had built up in winning 2-3 to seal the series at 2-0. Acorn couldn't get himself on track at all in game 3, allowing Neopolitan to easily claim a 2-6 win for the 3-0 series sweep. Neopolitan is set to play in round two.
Kraft Forum, Royal: Brownie v. Caitlin. A Castle Derby is set for the next series, playing Rotation with the blue cue. Southridge's Caitlin took the lead early in game 1 on a short run, and then sparred and held off Royal's Brownie throughout the rest of the game for an 8-4 win and 1-0 series lead. The Crowns' Brownie had to battle with the Defenders' Caitlin early in game 2, playing evenly at first. Brownie would break out quicker, and she repulsed a counterattack from Caitlin for the 8-5 win to tie the series at 1. Brownie made a statement with a quick four-ball run in game 3. Caitlin had only errors on her scoring plays, and Brownie would end with a three-ball run-out for the 8-0 victory. Brownie won the series 2-1 to earn her place in the second round.
FedEx Arena, Eastside: Gizmo v. Missy. Siblings meet in another Rotation series, this one using the red cue. Capital City's Missy burst ahead right from the start, taking a quick and heavy lead. Eastside's Gizmo got some of it back, but Missy closed with an 8-3 win to go up 1-0 in the series. The Sharpshooters' Missy used a similar attack plan in game 2, beginning with a four-ball run. The Sharks' Gizmo would rally back with his own four-ball run to tie it late, but Missy converted the 15 just in time for the 8-7 win to secure the series at 2-0. Missy didn't quite have enough left to challenge Gizmo to the end of game 3, as Gizmo picked up this win 8-7. Missy still took the series 2-1 to get into the second round.
Home Depot Forum, Web City: Waluigi v. Blizzard. The silver cue gets another 12-ball series here between more Northeastern rivals. Web City's Waluigi had a good enough start in game 1 to be a threat, but his late scratch allowed Harrison's Blizzard to kick her final ball to the bottom left for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Specters' Blizzard gave away a wild-card ball on the game 2 break, but the Spiders' Waluigi couldn't quite make his last ball. Blizzard bought just enough time to rally, putting the 4 in the bottom side to get the win that sealed the series at 2-0. Blizzard paced her game 3 attack with a four-ball run and a good set-up for her final shot. Waluigi got two of his four remaining balls potted, but he couldn't stop Blizzard from winning for the 3-0 sweep. Blizzard heads to round two.
Volkswagen Stadium Events Center, Viewpoint Sound: Frosty v. Noelle. The red cue cycles back in for 8-ball between veterans. Central's Noelle elected to get most of her offense all at once with a six-ball run, while Viewpoint Sound's Frosty staggered it a bit more. Frosty would win with a three-ball run-out for the 1-0 series lead. The Warriors' Noelle again tried to attack all at once with a five-ball run, but the 8 wouldn't fall on two attempts. The Meteors' Frosty answered with a four-ball run-out to clinch the series at 2-0 with this win. Noelle finally broke through in game 3, making an incredible double-pot with collateral damage as part of a four-ball run-out to take the win from Frosty. In the end, Frosty won the series 2-1 and will play in the second round.
Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: Chris v. Stephanie. The red cue stays up for a 15-ball series. Southridge's Stephanie picked her moments to attack in game 1, eventually rallying with a six-ball run-out after splitting the early offense with Capital City's Chris. Stephanie leads the series 1-0. The Sharpshooters' Chris did just enough to keep himself in the series in game 2, kicking the 15 to the bottom side on the final shot despite the run of play the Defenders' Stephanie had developed. In game 3, Chris left a run for Stephanie at the end, and she made five in a row. Chris then butchered his chance at the 15, and Stephanie potted it for the win and 2-1 series win which puts her in the second round.
Apple Center, Todavía: Easter v. Mams. The red cue stays on for Accuracy between a pair of Coastal rivals. Todavía's Easter never had a chance in game 1, missing twice against a perfect performance from Southern's Mams, who took the 0-2 win for a 1-0 series lead. The Monarchs' Mams was perfect again in game 2 throughout regulation, but so was the Stills' Easter, who held the last-shot advantage. Mams' overtime break failed and Easter potter a shot to win 0-1, tying the series at 1 game apiece. In game 3, Easter made a ball on the break, and it led to Mams falling apart on offense at the end of another close game. Easter took the win 1-3 to win the series 2-1, earning a second-round spot.
Chevrolet Center, Everton: Puff III v. Diddley. Another Northeastern rivalry goes in 12-ball with the red cue. Maplewood's Diddley had a surprisingly easy time coming back in game 1 after Everton's Puff III started with a pair of shots. Diddley rallied on a four-ball run and then made a pair of his final turn for the win and 1-0 series lead. Game 2 was a much harder battle for the Lumberjacks' Diddley who struggled with positioning. He was lucky the Eagles' Puff III had the same problem, and Diddley bought just enough time to grab the win, clinching the series at 2-0. Puff III began with a solid four-ball run in game 3, but Diddley slowly worked his way back into the game as Puff III couldn't get agreeable positioning. Diddley would win with a pair of shots for the 3-0 series sweep to move into round two.
Google Hall, Modernistic: Sydney C. v. Bandit. The host plays her second series of the day, keeping the red cue in action for 8-ball. Swordpoint's Bandit had a four-ball run and a three-ball run ended by a scratch in game 1, which Modernistic's Sydney C. answered on a pair of four-ball runs for the win. Sydney C. owns a 1-0 series lead. The Union's Sydney C. was the one who faltered in another fast-paced effort, as she started with a three-ball run and added a four-ball run on her turns in game 2. The Blades' Bandit had a four-ball run on both of his turns to take the win, tying the series at 1. Sydney C. upped the ante with a six-ball run in game 3, pushing on Bandit, who tried some defense in response. Sydney C. would break the defense for the win and 2-1 series win that puts her in the second round again.
Microsoft Center, Southern: Panda v. Fluffina. The silver cue is back now, playing Accuracy between two talented veterans. Infinity's Fluffina held her ground after one miss, doing enough to push Southern's Panda behind on the last ball. Fluffina won 1-2 and owns a 1-0 series lead. The Torpedoes' Fluffina fell behind quickly in game 2, but the Monarchs' Panda again failed to hang on. This time, the game went to overtime, where the players sparred until Panda had a miss halfway through the extra rack. Fluffina's 2-3 win clinched the series for her at 2-0. Fluffina didn't put up a fight after blowing a lead in game 3, allowing Panda to claim the 4-5 win. Fluffina took the series 2-1 and will advance to the second round.
Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: Lorde v. Pounce. Today's final series is in 10-ball with the blue cue. Capital City's Lorde posted some positive shots in game 1, but Southern's Pounce ended with a three-ball run-out, banking the 10 to the top left for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Monarchs' Pounce had a productive game 2 effort as well, but it was a similar finish with a three-ball run-out that helped him beat the Sharpshooters' Lorde again to seal the series at 2-0. Pounce didn't hesitate to cap a three-ball run-out in game 3 with a deflection off the 3 to pot the 10 at the top right. Pounce swept Lorde 3-0 to earn his place in the second round.
We'll be back with another standard day tomorrow.

Sydney C. would break the defense for the win and 2-1 series win that puts her in the second round again.

Tournament 2019 - Round 1 Day 21
The fifth week of the first round begins with...
FedEx Arena, Eastside: Graham v. Tigerette. A heavy-hitting captains' battle in 10-ball with the silver cue starts the day. Commerce's Tigerette battled with Eastside's Graham early in game 1, but Tigerette emerged with a four-ball run-out at the end to grab the win for a 1-0 series lead. The Tradewinds' Tigerette showed a commitment to creativity in game 2, while the Sharks' Graham tried to be direct. Graham had no choice but to bank the 10, which he missed, leaving a shot at the bottom side that Tigerette converted for the win to seal the series at 2-0. Graham finally picked up a win in game 3, as Tigerette flubbed a shot on the 9. Graham made the final two balls, leaving Tigerette to take the series at 2-1 as she heads to the second round.
IBM Cathedral, North Modernistic: Lionel v. Salmo. The silver cue remains in action for this 12-ball series. Southern's Salmo got off to a good start in game 1, and while North Modernistic's Lionel had a chance for a big run, he only made three shots before losing positioning. Salmo attacked from there with the final pair for the win to go up 1-0 in the series. The Nighthawks' Lionel pushed with a four-ball run early in game 2, but the Monarchs' Salmo had better positioning, picking up a pair and then a four-ball run-out on consecutive turns for the win. Salmo clinched the series at 2-0. Lionel again tried to make an impact with positioning in game 3, but Salmo played for results and quickly made a three-ball run-out for the win to sweep the series 3-0. Salmo is off to the second round.
Nestle's Warriors Hall, Central: Dustin v. Lize. Back in 10-ball, the blue cue is on for this series. Central's Dustin converted a jump shot and then later made a three-ball run-out in game 1, taking the larger share of offense from Pronger's Lize to snag the win. Dustin leads the series 1-0. The Warriors' Dustin didn't play as well in game 2, but he was lucky that the Tridents' Lize missed both a 4-10 combination and a later kick on the 10. Dustin only had to tap the 10 to the top right for the win, securing the series at 2-0. Dustin had some good offense to start game 3, but Lize responded at the end on a three-ball run-out to take the win. Dustin settled for a 2-1 series win to move into round two.
Toyota Arena, Freedom: Stinky v. Kirstin. The red cue makes its daily debut in 9-ball between two under-the-radar players. Everton's Kirstin dominated game 1 with a five-ball run, and then made the 9 on the next turn after Freedom's Stinky scratched on his only chance at it. Kirstin is up 1-0 in the series. The Cascades' Stinky capitalized on a slower pace to game 2, as the Eagles' Kirstin was unable to get on track with her offense this time. Stinky made the 9 to the bottom right on his second try to tie the series at 1. Stinky didn't let up much in game 3, ending on a three-ball run-out that saw him use a decoy on the 8 to double-bank the 9 to the bottom side off the deflection. Stinky bested Kirstin 2-1 in the series to advance to the second round.
Home Depot Forum, Web City: Avril v. Sweetheart. The blue cue is back for this 15-ball series to lead into the lunch break. Web City's Avril made all five balls in game 1 over two turns, ending on a 4-15 combination to the top right after Boston's Sweetheart scratched on her only shot. Avril leads the series 1-0. The Spiders' Avril had less success in another fast game, which saw the Swifts' Sweetheart deflect a kick off the 5 to bump the 15 to the bottom side for the win, tying the series at 1. Avril had a four-ball run and plenty more offense in game 3, but she couldn't quite prevent Sweetheart from knocking down a 9-15 combination to the top right for the 2-1 series win. Sweetheart's comeback puts her into the second round.
Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: Pauline v. Puff I. After the lunch break, the blue cue remains in play with 7-ball. Capital City's Pauline went with a solid attack in game 1, and while Modernistic's Puff I nearly won, Pauline kicked the 7 to the top side to pull ahead 1-0 in the series. The Union's Puff I bounced back on a three-ball run-out in game 2 after a lull in play as the Sharpshooters' Pauline couldn't control her attack. Puff I's win helped her to tie the series at 1. Puff I scratched on the break in game 3, allowing Pauline to win two shots later on a 2-7 combination to the bottom right. Pauline took the series 2-1 to get into the second round.
Pepsi Arena, Lighton: Shiny v. Leonardo. The red cue cycles back in for 8-ball between veterans. Lighton's Shiny started with a lead in game 1, but she missed the 8 twice, and Diamond's Leonardo roared back on a five-ball run-out for the win to go ahead 1-0 in the series. The Prestige's Shiny did better in game 2, keeping things close and stymieing the Gems' Leonardo at the end. Shiny gracefully made the 8 to the bottom right on her final turn, taking the win to tie the series at 1. Game 3 started slowly on both sides, but Shiny adapted to the game better. Shiny would win with a four-ball run-out ignited by double-potting the 11 and 15 to the bottom right and bottom side. Shiny took the series 2-1, earning a spot in the second round.
Coca-Cola Field Exhibition Center, Boston: Sweetheart v. Dewey. The host makes her second appearance today in 10-ball with the silver cue. Oceanside's Dewey didn't have much consistency in his offense in game 1, which allowed Boston's Sweetheart to overcome her own troubles by potting the 10 at the bottom left. Sweetheart has a 1-0 series lead. The Waves' Dewey was better in game 2, starting with his five-ball run, but after a scratch, he fell off the pace. The Swifts' Sweetheart carved out just enough offense to get the win, clinching the series at 2-0. Sweetheart had some success in game 3, but not enough to stop Dewey from claiming the win at the end. Dewey's win made it a 2-1 series win for Sweetheart, who puts another bid in the second round.
Intel Center, Diamond: Katelynn v. Marsell. The Bloodbath Derby is back in Accuracy with the silver cue. Diamond's Katelynn had only a single scratch to mar her game 1 performance, while Whitewater's Marsell missed on the final ball to fall behind. Katelynn won 1-2 for the 1-0 series lead. The Shores' Marsell had even less margin for error in game 2 and failed to meet the challenge, as the Gems' Katelynn played a perfect game in her 0-2 win to seal the series at 2-0. Katelynn fell apart in game 3, losing her composure from the previous efforts. Marsell showed determination to get the win at 1-4, while Katelynn advances to the second round on a 2-1 series win.
UPS Hall, Maplewood: Summer v. Dusky. The silver cue continues with a Northeastern rivalry in 9-ball. Game 1 went pretty evenly between the two players, with Maplewood's Summer ultimately just getting the better of Archtown's Dusky. Summer holds a 1-0 series lead. The Arrows' Dusky wouldn't stay down for long, dominating with a five-ball run in game 2, followed by a 7-9 combination to the bottom right two turns later to tie the series at 1 with the Lumberjacks' Summer. In game 3, Summer was the one to find a three-ball run-out to cap her win for the 2-1 series win as Dusky couldn't counterattack in the finale. Summer heads to round two.
Cisco Arena, Tysini: Sarah v. Jack. More 9-ball sees the silver cue draw in yet another series. Tysini's Sarah was on the right side of a back-and-forth battle with Web City's Jack in game 1, potting the last two balls for the win and 1-0 series lead in favor of the host. The Hummingbirds' Sarah looked to be in control of game 2 as well, working a four-ball run near the end, but she missed on the 9. The Spiders' Jack mopped it up for a cheap win to tie the series at 1 game apiece. Jack would regret an empty break in game 3, as Sarah deflected a shot off the 2 to put the 9 in the top right for the win on her first turn. Sarah took the series 2-1 as she moves into the second round against the winner of the last series, the Lumberjacks' Summer.
Cisco Arena, Tysini: Vincent v. Dreamy. The venue doubleheader ends with a 15-ball series using the red cue. Tysini's Vincent survived a thorough attack from Swordpoint's Dreamy early in game 1, which saw the visitor take two significant runs. Vincent then poked in the 15 late for the win and a 1-0 series lead. Game 2 saw the Hummingbirds' Vincent display quite a few struggles. He scratched a lot early on, and butchered some shots on the 15 near the end, allowing the Blades' Dreamy to earn the win with a tap-in. This tied the series at 1. In game 3, Dreamy capitalized on Vincent's lack of direction to his shots. Dreamy won by deflecting a shot off the 6 to tap the 15 to the top right, giving her a 2-1 series win she can take to the second round.
Apple Center, Todavía: Prism v. Goatee. A third-year meets a veteran in 10-ball with the silver cue. Westside's Goatee used some veteran savvy in game 1, capitalizing on the weakness of Todavía's Prism on long shots. Goatee exploited this on the last two balls to pick up the win and 1-0 series lead. The Rockers' Goatee started game 2 with a four-ball run, but scratched to end it. The Stills' Prism was less organized on offense in the second half of the game, but she did pot the last five balls to get the win, tying the series at 1. In game 3, Goatee continued to attack well early on, but she fell again as Prism made five of the last six balls to take the win. Prism won the series 2-1 and will play in the second round.
HP Field Events Center, Midland: Americus v. Andrew. The day's final series is also in 10-ball with the silver cue, the most common event and stick combination of the day. Central's Andrew had a few moments of offense in game 1, but Midland's Americus held him off fairly easily to get the win for a 1-0 series lead. The Warriors' Andrew kept things close in game 2, but again fell short with a miss on the 10 at the bottom right. The Predators' Americus gladly showed the rookie how it's done, taking the win to clinch the series at 2-0. Americus kept it simple in game 3, blasting down a ten-ball run-out to earn a 3-0 series sweep. Americus is off to the second round.
We'll be back tomorrow with a similar schedule of activities.
Tournament 2019 - Round 1 Day 20
A split-day of action over the weekend begins on Saturday with...
GE Stadium Events Center, Southridge: Debby v. Puff I. The first series of Saturday is in 8-ball with the blue cue. Southridge's Debby had a mixed appearance in game 1, while Modernistic's Puff I used a burst of offense at the start and the end to grab the win for a 1-0 series lead. The Defenders' Debby made an impressive comeback in game 2, going from no balls pocketed and a scratch to a five-ball run-out two turns later to best the Union's Puff I, tying the series at 1. Debby needed another comeback in game 3 for the 2-1 series win, executing a four-ball run-out after Puff I missed contact on a kick attempt on the 8. Debby is set to play in the second round.
Nestle's Warriors Hall, Central: Wings v. Charli. The red cue takes a turn in 15-ball in the second series of the day. Tysini's Charli went off with a seven-ball run-out in game 1 after splitting the early offense fairly evenly with Central's Wings. Charli owns a 1-0 series lead after the dominant finish. The Warriors' Wings tried to reverse the roles in game 2, pressing with a five-ball run late in the game, but he missed on the 15. The Hummingbirds' Charli calmly kicked it to the bottom right for the win, clinching the series at 2-0. Charli made it a sweep in game 3, pacing her attack with a seven-ball run at mid-game that demoralized Wings. Charli finished with a pair of shots and heads to the second round after the 3-0 series win.
McDonald's Hall, Atlantic: Isabella v. Twilight. A hotshot third-year takes on a captain in 13-ball with the red cue. Atlantic's Isabella barely allowed Central's Twilight to think in game 1. Isabella began with a pair of three-ball runs and made the 8 on her third turn for a fast win and 1-0 series lead. The Pirates' Isabella needed a bit more time in game 2, but she still easily held the lead over the Warriors' Twilight for most of the game. Isabella eventually made the 1 and 8 to the top side on consecutive shots to win, securing the series at 2-0. Isabella held the lead again for much of game 3, but Twilight made a strategic play at the end that worked out as she potted a pair of shots for the win. Isabella settled for a strong 2-1 series win to get into the second round.
McDonald's Hall, Atlantic: Steven v. Citrus. Completing the venue doubleheader is a 10-ball series with the silver cue. Lighton's Citrus had a pair of three-ball runs in game 1, one early and one late, but she scratched to end the latter one. Atlantic's Steven swooped in to make the 10 from ball-in-hand for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Pirates' Steven scratched twice in game 2, allowing the Prestige's Citrus to pot seven balls from ball-in-hand situations. Citrus missed on the 10, however, and Steven tapped it to the top left for the win, sealing the series at 2-0. Steven put in a better effort in game 3, although he was probably still a bit lucky to beat Citrus after she flubbed her shot on the 9. Steven swept the series 3-0 to move into round two.
Toyota Arena, Freedom: Stripes v. Easter. The red cue returns to action as veterans meet for Rotation. Todavía's Easter staked out an impressive lead early on, and while Freedom's Stripes rallied with a four-ball run, Stripes saw a failed jump shot allow Easter to take the 8-4 win. Easter leads the series 1-0. The Stills' Easter had a chance to win game 2, posting a five-ball run but scratching on the winning shot. She wouldn't score again, and the Cascades' Stripes slowly rallied back for an 8-7 win to tie the series. Stripes and Easter combined for a fairly even start in game 3, but Easter pulled away quickly with a four-ball run-out to win 8-4. Easter took the series 2-1 as she advances to the second round.
Subway Arena, Stonebridge: Wild Thing v. Vladimir. New teammates for the Stonebridge Wolves play another Rotation series with the red cue. Wild Thing had a fairly easy time, as the team's newcomer took an early lead in game 1 and Vladimir never showed enough skill to catch up. Wild Thing took the 8-2 win for a 1-0 series lead. Wild Thing again took the early lead in game 2, and while Vladimir put up more of a fight this time, Wild Thing was able to close up an 8-4 win to clinch the series at 2-0. Wild Thing didn't ease up at all, making a statement with his 8-3 win over Vladimir to earn a 3-0 series sweep. Wild Thing will represent Stonebridge in the second round.
Mercedes-Benz Forum, Harrison: Rudolph v. Cowzart. The red cue remains in play for a series of 10-ball between club-mates. Pacific's Cowzart earned the win in game 1 on a five-ball run-out on his first turn, capped by a 5-10 combination to the bottom right. Cowzart holds a 1-0 series lead over Harrison's Rudolph. The Specters' Rudolph contributed a solid three-ball run in game 2, but after a contentious battle on the 8, the Volcanoes' Cowzart emerged with a pair of shots to take the win, clinching the series at 2-0. Game 3 had a nearly identical ending, as Rudolph's three-ball run came up short and Cowzart finished off another win. Cowzart swept the series 3-0 to get through to round two.
FedEx Arena, Eastside: Chelsea v. Sage. Saturday's last series comes in 8-ball with the blue cue at the split-point for the day. Eastside's Chelsea had the better of play in game 1, but her late five-ball run ended in disaster as she deflected the 8 to the wrong pocket to gift the win to Victoria's Sage, who will take the 1-0 series lead. The Spurs' Sage did a bit better on offense with a four-ball run early in game 2. The Sharks' Chelsea tried to counterattack later on, but she couldn't stop Sage from potting a pair for another win to secure the series at 2-0. Sage and Chelsea did battle very evenly in game 3, with Chelsea emerging with the win to salvage something from the series. Sage takes a 2-1 series win with her to the second round.
Audi Hall, Terrace City: Melissa v. Max. The silver cue leads off the Sunday segment in 7-ball. Golden's Max hit a three-ball run at one point in game 1, but the offense was shaky from there until Terrace City's Melissa potted the 7 to the bottom right for the win and 1-0 series lead. Game 2 saw another battle of mixed possession, but the Knights' Melissa did well enough to pot the last two balls to clinch the series at 2-0 over the Pilots' Max. Melissa had some offense early in game 3, but she wasn't able to sustain it as Max made three of the last four shots over his final two turns to grab the win. Melissa won the series 2-1 and will advance to the second round.
Nestle's Warriors Hall, Central: Andrew v. Dreamy. A rookie meets a veteran for Rotation with the silver cue. Swordpoint's Dreamy rallied from behind with a four-ball run in game 1, but she never finished it off, and Central's Andrew slowly countered to win 8-7 for the 1-0 series lead. The Blades' Dreamy replied in game 2, coming back from a couple of deficits to pick up the 8-5 win when the Warriors' Andrew saw his offense go stagnant. Dreamy's win tied the series at 1. Andrew made a strong rally in game 3 after falling behind, but a scratch doomed his turn as Dreamy took the 8-7 win this time to win the series 2-1. Dreamy is set to play in round two.
Volkswagen Stadium Events Center, Viewpoint Sound: Hoot v. Twinkie I. Another Rotation series is played with the blue cue in a Coastal Derby match. Viewpoint Sound's Hoot had an excellent start to game 1, but nothing prepared him for a five-ball run-out by Pacific's Twinkie I, giving her the 8-6 win for a 1-0 series lead. The Volcanoes' Twinkie I drained the drama from the series, winning game 2 in three turns by an 8-0 score as the Meteors' Hoot wasted his limited opportunities for offense. Twinkie I secured the series at 2-0 with this win. Twinkie I got off to a good start again in game 3, and while Hoot covered the initial damage, he was unable to stop her from taking the 8-5 win in the end. Twinkie I swept the series 3-0 to advance to the second round.
Audi Hall, Terrace City: Kiwi v. Beth. The blue cue remains in action for this 13-ball series. Terrace City's Kiwi started well, then went through a lull in the middle of game 1. Pearl's Beth came close at this point, but Kiwi pushed back on a four-ball run-out to snag the win for a 1-0 series lead. The Surfers' Beth started with an aggressive four-ball run in game 2, putting the Knights' Kiwi under immediate pressure. Kiwi never fully recovered from that, and Beth walked away with a fairly easy win to tie the series at 1. Beth made three balls on the break as part of a five-ball run, which Kiwi did manage to cover. Beth then made her last two shots just in time for the win and 2-1 series win. Beth moves on to the second round.
HP Field Events Center, Midland: Americus v. Briana. The silver cue returns for more Rotation in the day's penultimate series. Midland's Americus took the early lead in game 1, only for Queens' Briana to surge ahead in the mid-game. Americus fought back, scraping out an 8-7 win for herself to go up 1-0 in the series. The Flames' Briana didn't let game 2 get out of hand, holding the lead most of the way and finishing off with a four-ball run-out including a double-pot and a kicked 9-14 combination. The 8-4 win was enough for Briana to tie the series at 1 game apiece with the Predators' Americus. In game 3, Americus struck first but couldn't sustain a lot of offense from there. Briana pulled ahead quickly and never looked back in her 8-5 win to seal the series at 2-1. Briana is set to face a Flames teammate in the second round.
HP Field Events Center, Midland: Shawn v. Waluigi. The day ends with the second half of a venue doubleheader, which sees 10-ball played with the red cue. A back-and-forth game 1 saw Midland's Shawn come up with the win on his first try at the 10 after Web City's Waluigi couldn't extend a run to include the last ball. Shawn holds a 1-0 series lead. The Predators' Shawn had a six-ball run to start game 2, then saw the Spiders' Waluigi take possession. Shawn would bounce back for a pair of shots at the end to secure the win and the 2-0 series lead. Shawn paced the offense well in game 3, but Waluigi picked up the win at the end, cleaning up Shawn's missed play on the 10. Shawn took the series 2-1 to get into the second round.
That's all for the split-day weekend makeup sessions. We'll be back on a normal schedule tomorrow.

Tournament 2019 - Round 1 Day 19
We're back with Friday pool action, beginning with...
Microsoft Center, Del Sur: Pounce v. Wings. A pair of veterans kick off today's games with Accuracy using the blue cue. Southern's Pounce scratched on the break in game 1, which was the only mistake that Central's Wings needed to see to grab control. Wings won by a 0-3 score, the perfect game putting him ahead 1-0 in the series. Game 2 came down to the wire, but the Warriors' Wings was just a bit short on skill, and the Monarchs' Pounce was able to convert a shot to win 1-2. This tied the series at 1. Pounce trailed for most of game 3, but did enough defense to cause Wings to drop into a tie at the end of regulation. Wings then scratched on the overtime break, and Pounce walked away with a 2-3 win to take the series at 2-1. Pounce is set to move to the second round.
Audi Hall, Terrace City: Kiwi v. Sydney S. The blue cue remains in action in this 10-ball series. Game 1 was a bit choppy on both sides, but a scratch by Harrison's Sydney S. as she made the 9 allowed Terrace City's Kiwi to take the win from ball-in-hand for a 1-0 series lead. The Knights' Kiwi looked a little smoother to start game 3, but she fell apart toward the end. The Specters' Sydney S. managed a few shots in a disjointed but successful counterattack to get the win, tying the series at 1. Neither player was able to really control in game 3, but Kiwi had an awkward miss at the end that opened the door for Sydney S. to convert on the 10 for the 2-1 series win. Sydney S. heads to the second round after a close battle.
Intel Center, Diamond: Leonardo v. Shadow. Newcomers to the Diamond Gems collide in 10-ball with the silver cue. Game 1 did not go particularly well for either player until Shadow managed a three-ball run-out for the win to take a 1-0 series lead over Leonardo's listless attack. In game 2, the play went back and forth at a smoother pace, with Shadow having a chance to win on a short run before he missed on the 10. Leonardo converted a deft bank to the bottom right for the win instead, tying the series at 1. Game 3 didn't see much separation for the players either, until Shadow made the 10 on his second try at the top side. Shadow won the series 2-1 over Leonardo to advance to round two.
HP Field Events Center, Midland: Kitty v. Marsell. A rookie meets a rising star in 12-ball with the blue cue after the lunch break. Midland's Kitty gave away a wild-card ball on the game 1 break, but she still pushed ahead at the end to best Whitewater's Marsell. Kitty leads the series 1-0. The Predators' Kitty had two balls on the game 2 break, but she couldn't line up her shots after that. The Shores' Marsell swooped in after Kitty missed contact, posting his own four-ball run-out for the win to tie the series at 1. In game 3, Marsell gave up a wild-card ball on the break, and then Kitty found a three-ball run. Marsell was unable to counter that, and Kitty won the game for a 2-1 series win that puts her in the second round.
IBM Cathedral: Luigi v. Cubby. The red cue makes its daily debut in 12-ball. North Modernistic's Luigi gave up a wild-card ball in game 1, but still managed to use the impatience of Eastside's Cubby against him. Cubby's poor positioning allowed Luigi to pick up the win for a 1-0 series lead. The Sharks' Cubby got off to a great start with five balls over two turns, but he scratched as the Nighthawks' Luigi pressured with a four-ball run. Cubby then pushed back just in time for the win, tying the series at 1. Game 3 went right down to the wire, with Luigi just tapping in a shot at the bottom left after Cubby finally positioned his last ball. Luigi won the series 2-1 to move to the second round.
FedEx Arena, Eastside: Chelsea v. Gradley. Two long-tenured stars meet in Rotation with the red cue. Eastside's Chelsea started off quite slow in game 1, as Boston's Gradley built up a steady attack for his lead, but Chelsea stormed back to win 8-7 on a three-ball run-out. Chelsea owns a 1-0 series lead. The Sharks' Chelsea had a better start in game 2, but she failed to sustain the attack deep into the game. The Swifts' Gradley roared back with a five-ball run-out to grab the 8-5 win, tying the series at 1. Chelsea again started well, but game 3 went right to the end, including both players missing on the 15. Gradley eventually tapped it to the bottom right to win 8-7, taking the series win at 2-1 to go to the second round.
Starbucks Arena, Archtown: Hoppy v. Dustin. The silver cue returns in this Northeastern 8-ball battle. Central's Dustin did most of the early offense, answered by a four-ball run from Hoppy a bit later in game 1. Dustin stabilized from there, finding a pair of shots to get the win and 1-0 series lead. The Arrows' Hoppy did well with a five-ball run to get onto the 8, which the Warriors' Dustin couldn't convert on his second try. Hoppy cut it to the top left for the win, evening the series at 1. Dustin again pulled ahead early in game 3, only to see Hoppy make an impressive rally back at the end. Dustin faltered on the 8 and Hoppy left no doubt in the comeback win which gave her a 2-1 series win. Hoppy is off to the second round.
IBM Cathedral, North Modernistic: Cheddar v. Jennifer. Two competitive Urban rivals duke it out in 12-ball with the blue cue. Neither player was ideal in game 1, as North Modernistic's Cheddar gave up two wild-card balls but Terrace City's Jennifer couldn't cash in her last ball in any of three open pockets. Cheddar had good positioning but still took her time to earn the win for a 1-0 series lead. The Nighthawks' Cheddar showed much less generosity in game 2, and it worked wonders, as the Knights' Jennifer never really got close to catching up. Cheddar clinched the series rather easily at 2-0. Cheddar had a good push early in game 3, but Jennifer kept it close at the end. Cheddar gave away a wild-card ball to clear her path, and Jennifer failed to cut in her final ball. Cheddar swept the series 3-0 to move into the second round.
BMW RockDome, Westside: Slinks v. Smudge. Two aggressive veterans meet in 13-ball, also using the blue cue. Game 1 was a struggle for both players, with Infinity's Smudge breaking through first. Westside's Slinks couldn't shake lousy positioning, and Smudge walked away with the 1-0 series lead. The Torpedoes' Smudge decided to take action in game 2, while the Rockers' Slinks got caught trying to play for perfect positioning. Slinks was unable to execute her shots, and Smudge won again to seal the series at 2-0. Slinks had a bit of a head start on offense in game 3, but Smudge tracked her down and got ahead late before poking the 8 to the top right for the win. Smudge's 3-0 series sweep gives her confidence heading into round two.
Chevrolet Center, Everton: Cleo v. Bright. Former club-mates are set to meet in 10-ball with the silver cue. Short turns defined game 1, although a late scratch by Everton's Cleo allowed Pearl's Bright to make the last two shots from ball-in-hand for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Surfers' Bright had a four-ball run as things opened up in the middle of game 2, but two shots after the run, the Eagles' Cleo made a 7-10 combination to the bottom side on a tough cut for the win. Cleo's victory tied the series at 1. Cleo had a three-ball run early in game 3, but Bright answered on a five-ball run and made the final pair on the next turn for the win. Bright took the series 2-1 and will play in the second round.
Gillette Center, Swordpoint: Stealth v. Easter. Another 8-ball series on the day is played with the blue cue. Swordpoint's Stealth was in a good position early in game 1, but Todavía's Easter kept it close. Easter then had a strategic scratch, and used ball-in-hand on her last two shots after Stealth had missed contact. Easter leads the series 1-0. The Stills' Easter was a little too generous to the Blades' Stealth in game 2, giving away a couple of freebies. Stealth cashed in with the win at the end to tie the series at 1. Easter started with a four-ball run in game 3, but Stealth answered on a five-ball run of his own. Stealth scratched when he made his last ball, buying Easter the time to push back for the win and 2-1 series win. Easter is off to the second round.
FedEx Arena, Eastside: Graham v. Chicky Phil. A pair of veterans are set to meet in 13-ball with the blue cue. Web City's Chicky Phil battled well with Eastside's Graham initially, and then pulled ahead late in game 1. Graham couldn't answer it, and Chicky Phil made a pair of shots to grab the win for a 1-0 series lead. The Spiders' Chicky Phil took his time in game 2, eventually engaging in a battle for positioning with the Sharks' Graham at the end. Chicky Phil prevailed narrowly to get the win, clinching the series at 2-0. Chicky Phil had a hot start in game 3, and got a little help when Graham gave away a ball after Chicky Phil scratched. Chicky Phil took the 8 from there for the win and 3-0 series sweep to get into the second round.
Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: Lorde v. Mitchell. The silver cue returns for some 12-ball. Capital City's Lorde shredded a five-ball run from the break in game 1, taking an absolutely dominant lead. Victoria's Mitchell made only one shot before Lorde finished off her win for a 1-0 series lead. The Spurs' Mitchell bounced back quite well in game 2, establishing positioning to block a pair of shots against the Sharpshooters' Lorde. Mitchell then worked around those blocks and picked up the win with a pair of shots, tying the series at 1. Mitchell again took a big lead in game 3, and while Lorde pushed back to get down to her final ball, Mitchell was able to poke the 13 to the bottom left for the win and 2-1 series win. Mitchell will find a place in the second round.
Starbucks Arena, Archtown: Sally v. Americus. The final series of the day is in 13-ball with the blue cue. Archtown's Sally had a brilliant start in game 1, but failed to keep up her attack on the final ball. Midland's Americus took a pair of three-ball runs to get onto the 8, and then made it to the top side as a tap-in for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Predators' Americus did well to come back in game 2 after the Arrows' Sally managed to take an early lead. Sally bought herself some time with a defensive maneuver, but she couldn't transition to offense. Americus took the win to secure the series at 2-0. Americus was still good in game 3, again facing a firm challenge from Sally, but the host didn't have enough to finish the effort. Americus swept the series 3-0 to earn her spot in the second round.
That's all for today. We'll have Day 20 over the weekend, likely as a split-day effort.

Tournament 2019 - Round 1 Day 18
After an unscheduled day off Wednesday, pool action returns on Thursday. The make-up day for Wednesday will likely be Sunday, but could also be a split-day over the weekend. First up today...
Cisco Arena, Tysini: Charli v. Puff II. The blue cue gets first dibs today, playing Rotation. Boston's Puff II began on a four-ball run in game 1, but still had to wait for Tysini's Charli to create illegal contact at the end. Puff II closed her 8-6 win with a pair of shots to take a 1-0 series lead. The Swifts' Puff II struck first in game 2, but the Hummingbirds' Charli rallied with a five-ball run to take the lead. Puff II pulled back thanks to a double-pot, and then outplayed Charli at the end to win 8-6 again. Puff II clinched the series at 2-0. Charli lost her motivation to push in game 3, as Puff II emerged with an 8-3 win this time to take the series in a 3-0 sweep. Puff II dominated the series to get to the second round.
Verizon Field Events Center, Pacific: Leonette v. Spirit. The red cue draws in for this 12-ball series. Lighton's Spirit quickly got down to the last ball on game 1, but Pacific's Leonette used quite a long-game strategy. Leonette scratched three times, leaving Spirit to play for contact, and then Leonette made five balls over two turns to stun Spirit with the win. Leonette leads the series 1-0. The Prestige's Spirit was her own worst enemy in game 2, making two wild-card balls for the Volcanoes' Leonette and only one of her own. Leonette took the easy path to victory, a pair of shots enough for her to clinch the series at 2-0. Spirit put up a better fight in game 3, getting onto her final ball, but Leonette still closed it down with a pair of shots to earn the 3-0 series sweep. Leonette heads to the second round.
Sony Center, Queens: Hannah v. Bear. The silver cue takes a turn in 15-ball for this series. Queens' Hannah and Everton's Bear exchanged three-ball runs early in game 1, but the offense dried up later. Hannah would take the win after Bear missed on the 15 at the top right, giving Hannah a 1-0 series lead. The Eagles' Bear had a productive turn in game 2, making a four-ball run and then finding a pair at the end. He also found some offense after an illegal shot by the Flames' Hannah. Bear's strong play helped him tie the series at 1. Bear paced the offense with a four-ball run at one point, but he couldn't back it up, and Hannah deflected a shot off the 12 to take the 15 at the bottom right for the win. Hannah won the series 2-1 and will play in round two.
BMW RockDome, Westside: Misty v. Wario. The silver cue stays up for a series of 10-ball. Westside's Misty made the 10 on the break, but only managed a three-ball run after that. Southridge's Wario showed control of the offense and finished with a pair of shots to claim the win and 1-0 series lead. The Defenders' Wario went off with a four-ball run-out to close game 2 after a fairly mixed start that gave the Rockers' Misty some hope of a better result. Wario leads the series at 2-0. Wario started alright in game 3, but Misty finished better with five shots over her last two turns to snag the win. Wario won the series 2-1 to take his spot in the second round.
GE Stadium Events Center, Southridge: Stephanie v. Lize. The silver cue is in action again with 13-ball. Pronger's Lize made a decent push in game 1, while Southridge's Stephanie had a late scratch to ruin her comeback effort. Lize sealed up the game for a 1-0 series lead with a shot on the 8 at the top right. The Defenders' Stephanie started better in game 2, but never got herself back on track after a scratch in the middle of the game. The Tridents' Lize took over from there and grabbed the win, securing the series in her favor at 2-0. Stephanie had some offense again in game 3, but she faded at the end, and Lize stormed ahead. Stephanie then illegally potted the 8 to gift Lize the win and a 3-0 series sweep to put the visitor in the second round.
Apple Center, Todavía: Sierra v. Princess. The blue cue is back now for some 12-ball. Todavía's Sierra used a three-ball run-out at the end of game 1 to get the win after Viewpoint Sound's Princess fell off the pace with a scratch. Sierra's strong finish gave her a 1-0 series lead. The Meteors' Princess should have come up with the win in game 2, but failed to make her last ball, instead potting it illegally out of position. The Stills' Sierra had pulled even with a three-ball run and ended up easily making her last shot for the win to clinch the series at 2-0. Princess picked correctly when taking stripes at the start of game 3, as Sierra was unable to dig solids out of a tough position. Sierra still took the series 2-1, and will advance to round two.
Ford Forum, Pronger: Spot v. Strut. The red cue cycles in to close the first half of the day with 7-ball. Pronger's Spot got going with a three-ball run in game 1, but Golden's Strut made two pairs of shots after that to take the win for a 1-0 series lead. The Tridents' Spot made a pair of shots early in game 2, but got the win on a three-ball run-out after the Pilots' Strut briefly managed to muddy the waters. Spot's solid finish helped him tie the series at 1. Spot started and ended game 3 with three-ball runs, as Strut scratched on his only shot in the middle. Spot's strong offense helped him complete the comeback for a 2-1 series win. Spot will play in the second round.
Apple Center, Todavía: Ruby v. Shadow. Old legends meet in 9-ball with the blue cue in what should be an instant classic. Diamond's Shadow took game 1 on a three-ball run-out, ending with a 4-9 combination tapped in at the bottom right as Todavía's Ruby could only look on. Shadow leads the series 1-0. The Stills' Ruby got a four-ball run early in game 2, answered partially on a late three-ball run by the Gems' Shadow, who would end the run with a miss on the 9. Ruby cut it to the top right for the win, tying the series at 1. Shadow went off with a four-ball run-out at the end after Ruby missed contact on the 5. Shadows' late push gave him the series at 2-1, staking his claim to a second-round position.
Starbucks Arena, Archtown: Sally v. Charli. More time for the blue cue sees it administer a 7-ball series. Archtown's Sally poked a five-ball run from the break in game 1, but a whiff on the 3 allowed Tysini's Charli to pot a pair of shots for the win. Charli owns a 1-0 lead in the series. The Arrows' Sally benefited from a slower and grittier pace in game 2, as the Hummingbirds' Charli couldn't string many shots together. Sally made the final ball to snag the win that tied the series at 1. Charli worked a three-ball run late in game 3, but elected to go for an ill-fated bank over a tough cut. She missed, and Sally put the 7 in the bottom left herself to win the game and the 2-1 series. Sally moves on to the second round.
Google Hall, Modernistic: Ms. Puppy v. Snowball. The blue cue goes again in 7-ball in a captains' battle. Modernistic's Ms. Puppy jammed the 7 to the top side on the game 1 break for the win, taking a quick 1-0 series lead over Swordpoint's Snowball. The Union's Ms. Puppy had a majority of the offense in a game 2 that went to the end of the rack. The Blades' Snowball had a chance to make the final two balls, but she left the 7 at the top left, and Ms. Puppy buried it to clinch the series at 2-0. Ms. Puppy dominated in game 3 as well, never letting Snowball to the table as she made a six-ball run-out from the break capped by a 5-7 combination to the bottom right. Ms. Puppy swept the series 3-0, easily advancing to round two.
Nestle's Warriors Hall, Central: Dustin v. Leandra. The red cue is in charge of this 13-ball series between former club-mates. Tysini's Leandra broke out on a five-ball run quickly in game 1, which Central's Dustin answered with a three-ball run. Leandra had a slow finish but she got the win for a 1-0 series lead. The Hummingbirds' Leandra had her chances early in game 2, but she couldn't corral some shots, and the Warriors' Dustin pulled ahead. Dustin had a late setback with a scratch, but got on track in time to make a pair of shots for the win, tying the series at 1. Leandra gave away game 3, feeling positional pressure from Dustin very early on. Leandra potted the 8 illegally in an attempt to clear up her suit. Dustin gladly took the gift for a 2-1 series win and a spot in the second round.
Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Bright v. Katharine. The silver cue is back for this 7-ball series. Pearl's Bright had a good start in game 1, and then capitalized on misses late in the game by Whitewater's Katharine to get his win. Bright leads the series 1-0. Game 2 went in a much more back-and-forth style, but the Shores' Katharine committed a pair of scratches that derailed her efforts. The latter scratch allowed the Surfers' Bright to win cheaply with the 7 from ball-in-hand, securing the series in his favor at 2-0. Bright made it a 3-0 series sweep with a dominant share of the offense in game 3, which Katharine couldn't find a way to answer. Bright is headed to the second round.
Gillette Center, Swordpoint: Sugar v. Rosalina. The red cue gets a look for a series of 10-ball. Swordpoint's Sugar put game 1 away with a quick deflection off the 2 to push the 10 to the bottom right after Whitewater's Rosalina failed to make anything happen on offense. Sugar leads the series 1-0. The Shores' Rosalina did better in a full-length effort in game 2, closing out the win with a four-ball run-out to top the Blades' Sugar. The series is tied at 1. Sugar had a crafty 1-2 combination to the bottom side to start game 3, but she couldn't get the 10 on the double-pot. Rosalina needed just one turn from regular play to jam the 1-10 combination to the bottom left for the win and 2-1 series win. Rosalina moves on to the second round.
Chevrolet Center, Everton: Cleo v. Whiskers. A Northeastern battle in 12-ball with the silver cue ends today's action. Maplewood's Whiskers got onto her final after a nice run in game 1, but she couldn't break the defense of Everton's Cleo, who answered on a three-ball run-out for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Eagles' Cleo gave up a pair of wild-card balls immediately at the start of game 2, and while Cleo pushed back a little, the Lumberjacks' Whiskers held on to get a flexible win to tie the series at 1. Game 3 was about as even as possible, with Whiskers taking the win after Cleo couldn't make contact on a long shot on her last ball. Whiskers' 2-1 series win puts her in round two.
We'll be back tomorrow for a similar work-flow on a Friday.

The last action before the United Cup break comes here with Premier play, beginning with...
Nissan Infinity Stadium, Infinity: Hughbert will take standard rest for the Torpedoes, while the Swifts are sitting Ice Cream to start their four-game week. Patches led off with 541 for Boston on the opening turn, giving them a solid start to the game. Smudge hit 722 for Infinity in response, pulling the hosts ahead for now. Puff II fired back with 522 for the Swifts, enough to cover the deficit for now. Fluffina's home struggles hit a new low with 170 for the Torpedoes, costing them the lead at the halfway mark. Gradley squandered the chance to build Boston's lead higher, taking a simple 264 instead. Shelley cranked at 505 for Infinity, restoring a small lead for the hosts late in the game. Sweetheart rapped out 564 for the Swifts to give them 1891 overall. Mr. Snowman was unable to keep the Torpedoes ahead at the end with his 314 leaving them at a loss with 1711. Boston rises to 15-8 while Infinity is 6-16.
Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: The C-Line Derby is back, with Missy sitting as the Sharpshooters start a five-game week and Twilight on the bench amid recent struggles for the Warriors. Dustin had a pacey start with 564 for Central on the lead-off turn. Chris muscled up for 636 for Capital City, leading them ahead initially. Wings covered the deficit with 434 for the Warriors on the second attack. Sprinkles fell at only 192 for the Sharpshooters this time, causing them to fall behind. Andrew kept up Central's high-paced attack with 669, putting a lot of pressure on the hosts. Lorde didn't keep up with 460 for Capital City, putting the hosts in a tough position. Noelle was sturdy with 410 for the Warriors to cap their offense at 2077. Pauline was unable to rally for the Sharpshooters with 422, leaving them at 1710 in the loss. Central is up to 14-12, while Capital City is 10-10.

Goldy smacked 688 for Everton to get the visitors going in a positive manner. Delila fell with a pathetic 32 for Atlantic after tipping a ball high very early in her turn. Bear added another 402 for the Eagles on the second attack to push their lead a little higher. Steven had a middling 280 for the Pirates, too little to make of an impact against a great deficit. Cleo whiffed on a low ball, causing her to fall with 304 as she maintains Everton's lead. Klaus was unable to break Atlantic's slump with only 162 on his turn.
