Tournament X - Play-In Round Day 7

We're ready to fire up another day of pool action. Leading off...

Volkswagen Stadium Events Center, Viewpoint Sound: Dani v. Smudge. The red cue administers 7-ball as part of a day-opening venue doubleheader. Viewpoint Sound's Dani had the edge on offense in game 1, but couldn't settle on the 7. Infinity's Smudge picked it up instead for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Torpedoes' Smudge had a finishing run lined up in game 2, but she whiffed on the 6 at the top left. The Meteors' Dani made the final pair of shots for the win to tie the series at 1. Dani dominated the offense in game 3, with a six-ball run from the break and a conversion on the 7 when Smudge faltered. Dani won the series 2-1.

Volkswagen Stadium Events Center, Viewpoint Sound: Princess v. Max. The venue doubleheader ends with the green cue in 7-ball. Golden's Max waited until his second turn of game 1 to unleash a six-ball run-out for the win and 1-0 series lead over Viewpoint Sound's Princess. The Pilots' Max scratched on the break in game 2, leading to the Meteors' Princess taking over on offense. Princess would go on to win with a three-ball run-out, tying the series at 1. Princess never let Max get a shot in game 3, as the host ran the table cleanly to win the game and the 2-1 series.

Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Watermelon v. Stephanie. Staying on the coast, we have 15-ball with the blue cue. Pearl's Watermelon had her share of offense early in game 1, including a nice double-pot, but Southridge's Stephanie closed on a four-ball run-out with a 7-15 combination to the bottom left that double-potted the 9 at the top left. Stephanie leads the series 1-0. The Defenders' Stephanie again enjoyed most of the offense late in game 2, including a four-ball run-out to finish off the game as the Surfers' Watermelon couldn't get on track. Stephanie clinched the series at 2-0. Stephanie stayed strong initially, but couldn't hold at the end. Watermelon avoided the sweep with a three-ball run-out to leave Stephanie with a 2-1 series win.

Pepsi Arena, Lighton: Shiny v. Cubby. The purple cue is ready to get its day started in 12-ball. Lighton's Shiny had a ball on the break, but stripes didn't line up well for her. Web City's Cubby efficiently attacked and got the win, going ahead 1-0 in the series. The Spiders' Cubby demonstrated a great play in game 2, using his shot to the bottom right to poke his last ball onto a clear line to the top left. He capped the four-ball run-out with the conversion, clinching a 2-0 series lead over the Prestige's Shiny. Cubby didn't have a great start to game 3, but Shiny was out of position late. Cubby struck a three-ball run and cruised to the finish for the 3-0 series sweep.

Chevrolet Center, Everton: Puff III v. Max. The visitor's road trip continues with this Rotation series using the purple cue. Everton's Puff III started well but ceded the lead to Golden's Max in the middle of game 1. Max couldn't make it stand in the end, with Puff III winning 8-7 on a three-ball run-out for the 1-0 series lead. Game 2 was even tighter with the back-and-forth between the two players. The Pilots' Max wasn't able to gain traction at the end, missing contact on a kick attempt that led the Eagles' Puff III to her 8-6 win. Puff III sealed the series at 2-0. Max dominated in game 3, with a six-ball run on his first turn to establish a huge lead. Puff III only had a scratch in response, and Max would win 8-0 to cut the final series score to 2-1.

McDonald's Hall, Atlantic: Isabella v. Stealth. The silver cue gets its turn, playing 8-ball here. Swordpoint's Stealth had three scratches in game 1 and still came within a centimeter of the win. Atlantic's Isabella saved her game with a three-ball run-out to take the 1-0 series lead. Game 2 was much faster, as the Pirates' Isabella opened on a five-ball run, the Blades' Stealth countered with a four-ball run, and Isabella then won on a three-ball run-out. Isabella sealed the series at 2-0. Isabella had a four-ball run and made another pair before a scratch stalled her offense. Stealth then banked the 8 to the top right for the win, leaving Isabella to advance on a 2-1 series win.

BMW RockDome, Westside: Misty v. Rudolph. The red cue cycles in for some 12-ball. Harrison's Rudolph had to weather quite the attack from Westside's Misty, but when it was his turn, Rudolph ran the table for the win. He leads the series 1-0 after executing from great positioning. The Specters' Rudolph again tried to use positioning in game 2, but the Rockers' Misty played a physical style to keep him from getting comfortable. Misty would go on to win with a three-ball run-out to tie the series at 1. Misty had a good break in game 3, but Rudolph surged with another table-running extravaganza to take the series 2-1.

T-Mobile Center, Victoria: Strawberry v. Marissa. A veteran welcomes a rookie for 10-ball with the red cue. Maplewood's Marissa looked pretty harmless at first in game 1, but she struck for a four-ball run-out to surprise Victoria's Strawberry at the end. Marissa holds a 1-0 series lead. Under some pressure, the Spurs' Strawberry looked calm in game 2, converting a four-ball run-out capped by a long 4-10 combination to the bottom right to tie the series at 1 against the Lumberjacks' Marissa. Game 3 saw Strawberry look pretty good early on, but Marissa fired off a five-ball run-out with the 10 banked to the top side to seal the series in her favor at 2-1.

Coca-Cola Field Exhibition Center, Boston: Patches v. Bear. The purple cue is back in Rotation for its last turn today. Everton's Bear had a good start to game 1, but it didn't last as Boston's Patches roared back for an 8-5 win capped by a three-ball run-out. Patches leads the series 1-0. The Swifts' Patches couldn't find her way to a late surge in game 2, allowing the Eagles' Bear to romp unchallenged to an 8-1 win. Bear tied the series at 1 in the process. Bear took a nice lead at the start of game 3 as well, but Patches churned out a six-ball run, only for Bear to get the 8-6 win on a four-ball run-out. Bear won the series 2-1.

Home Depot Forum, Web City: Omari v. Molly. A battle of rookies awaits in 9-ball with the blue cue. Game 1 started a little disjointed on both sides. Web City's Omari solved the problem faster, ending with a four-ball run-out for the win and 1-0 series lead over Southern's Molly. The Spiders' Omari fell off a bit in game 2, including a couple of unpleasant errors. The Monarchs' Molly didn't complain, taking care of three balls over the last two turns for the win to tie the series at 1. Omari was back on track by the end of game 3, ripping a four-ball run-out again to defeat Molly in the game and 2-1 in the series.

Audi Hall, Terrace City: Oreo v. Ms. Kitty. Prime club-mates clash in this 13-ball series with the red cue. Pacific's Ms. Kitty had the initial attack in game 1, but she fell apart late after a scratch. Terrace City's Oreo was patient and produced a five-ball run-out for the win to take a 1-0 series lead. The Knights' Oreo worked a three-ball run from the break in game 2 before switching to a defensive style to keep the Volcanoes' Ms. Kitty from getting established. It worked, and Oreo later pushed her way to the win to clinch the series at 2-0. Oreo couldn't work the same magic in game 3, as Ms. Kitty made six balls over her last two turns while Oreo had a scratch in the middle. Ms. Kitty's win left Oreo with a 2-1 series win.

BMW RockDome, Westside: Slinks v. Steven. Longtime members of their teams go at it in 13-ball with the silver cue. Westside's Slinks didn't have a lot of luck early on, and her late push fell just short when she missed a bank on the 8. Atlantic's Steven accepted the let-off and made the 8 to the top right for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Pirates' Steven again had a good start, but the Rockers' Slinks had great positioning. Slinks wasn't able to capitalize on it after missing the 8, and Steven made a pair of shots just in time for the win, sealing the series at 2-0. Game 3 came down to the wire, but Steven took it casual and missed a kick on the 8 to the bottom right. Slinks mopped it up for her lone win in Steven's 2-1 series win.

Coca-Cola Field Exhibition Center, Boston: Gradley v. Sweetheart. Two long-tenured Boston Swifts teammates meet in 10-ball with the green cue. Game 1 saw Sweetheart struggle to find her shot initially. Gradley used that time to build momentum, and he would knock in a pair of three-ball runs en route to the win and 1-0 series lead. Gradley again paced the play in game 2 with an early three-ball run. Sweetheart chipped in a pair in the middle, but Gradley found a four-ball run-out, including a bank on the 10 to the bottom right for the win to clinch the series at 2-0. Gradley made a mess of game 3, turning it into a sporting gesture to let Sweetheart show off her skills. Sweetheart gladly took the win to avoid a sweep in Gradley's 2-1 series win.

Gillette Center, Swordpoint: Dreamy v. Prism. The red cue's last series today comes in Rotation. Pronger's Prism built up a nice lead in game 1, only for Swordpoint's Dreamy to pull ahead on a three-ball run near the end. Dreamy didn't finish it, and Prism used a three-ball run-out to win 8-7 for the 1-0 lead in the series. The Blades' Dreamy came out of the gate hotter in game 2, but her lead would be short-lived. The Tridents' Prism steadily pushed back and won with a three-ball run-out for the 8-5 victory and 2-0 series lead. Dreamy didn't tolerate the defeat from before, unleashing a three-turn 8-0 shutout victory in game 3 to spoil Prism's sweep. Prism still advanced with a 2-1 series win.

Home Depot Forum, Web City: Jack v. Sydney S. Northeastern foes meet in Accuracy with the blue cue. Web City's Jack was solid at first, but Harrison's Sydney S. set a perfect pace and he failed to keep up. Sydney S. claimed a 0-3 win for the 1-0 series lead. Game 2 was a closer battle, but the Specters' Sydney S. still got a 1-2 win, putting the Spiders' Jack in a bad position on the last ball after they each missed once earlier. Sydney S.'s clever play secured the series in her favor at 2-0. Sydney S. had a lead in parts of game 3, but with the series already decided, she slipped behind after a late tie situation arose. Jack took the win 3-4 while Sydney S. won the series 2-1.

Gillette Center, Swordpoint: Esmeralda v. Goatee. Unpredictable opponents end the day in 12-ball with the silver cue. Swordpoint's Esmeralda seemed dismayed after an early scratch in game 1, although her positioning didn't help. Westside's Goatee was thorough and efficient to earn the win and 1-0 series lead. Game 2 turned out to be a more defensive battle. The Rockers' Goatee held positioning at the bottom left, but gave it up to attack elsewhere, and the Blades' Esmeralda took advantage to strike for the win. This tied the series at 1. Game 3 saw a mix of the two games and an extra dash of speed, setting up a tight race to the finish. In the end, Goatee was a step ahead of Esmeralda for the win and 2-1 series win.

Tournament X - Play-In Round Day 6

We're on again for the middle day of the Play-In Round. First up...

Kraft Forum, Royal: Katelynn v. Vincent. The green cue shoots 12-ball in the daily opener. Everton's Vincent couldn't get any offense going in game 1, cracking quickly against Royal's Katelynn, who easily took the win for a 1-0 series lead. The Crowns' Katelynn remained strong in game 2, but not enough this time as the Eagles' Vincent stepped up. Vincent's defense at the bottom right was the difference to help him tie the series at 1. Both players had a good effort in game 3, but a pair on the break for Vincent combined with Katelynn's early scratch sent the visitor Vincent to a 2-1 series win.

Nike Field Events Center, Commerce: Tigerette v. Twinkie III. Longtime Urban rivals keep the green cue active for 8-ball. Commerce's Tigerette put on an entertaining game 1, countering Whitewater's Twinkie III with a three-ball run-out in the close battle. Tigerette leads the series 1-0. The Tradewinds' Tigerette attacked a little stronger in game 2 with a five-ball run. The Shores' Twinkie III couldn't keep up with that, and Tigerette added a pair for the win to clinch the series at 2-0. Tigerette had another good start to game 3, but she faded late this time, and Twinkie III stole the win on a three-ball run-out. Tigerette settled for a 2-1 series win.

Home Depot Forum, Web City: Cubby v. Stephanie. In 13-ball, the silver cue gets a look. Neither player had it easy in game 1, but Web City's Cubby had better positioning than Southridge's Stephanie and used it to his advantage. Cubby would go unchallenged in the win, taking a 1-0 series lead. The Defenders' Stephanie had an even worse time in game 2, failing to legally sink a single ball as the Spiders' Cubby cruised to the decisive win in a series he now leads 2-0. Stephanie put up a better effort in game 3, but she was denied once again as Cubby roared to a three-ball run-out to secure the 3-0 series sweep.

Pepsi Arena, Lighton: Acorn v. Citrus. The captain and the outspoken star of the Prestige clash in this 12-ball battle with the red cue. Acorn started well on the break in game 1, only for Citrus to unleash a four-ball run. Citrus was out of position, and Acorn made no mistakes in the late game, surging back for the win and 1-0 series lead. Acorn needed only three turns in game 2 despite giving away a wild-card ball. His middle turn was a three-ball run that sent Citrus scrambling for a miracle run that never came. Acorn's win sealed the series at 2-0. Acorn again gave away a wild-card ball in game 3, and this one cost him the sweep, as Citrus controlled play and got her lone win in a 2-1 series.

IBM Cathedral, North Modernistic: Peach v. Cubby. The green cue is back for 7-ball in its last appearance today. North Modernistic's Peach had the edge on offense in game 1, and she used it well to defeat Web City's Cubby for the 1-0 series lead. The Nighthawks' Peach made three balls on the game 2 break, but it wouldn't be enough. The Spiders' Cubby converted the 2-7 combination to the top left on his second shot, with the 2 also going to the bottom left as an added bonus. This tied the series at 1. Peach and Cubby again kept things close in game 3, but Peach won with a three-ball run-out that featured a hard cut on the 7 to the bottom left. Peach claimed the series 2-1.

Intel Center, Diamond: Debby v. Hoot. The red cue is back for 15-ball between these experienced players. Diamond's Debby had a shaky style at times, while Viewpoint Sound's Hoot showed some skill with a four-ball run. Hoot couldn't finish the effort, and Debby struck the 15 to the bottom right for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Gems' Debby had a little flair for offense early in game 2, but the ending was a painful battle with as many hits as misses. The Meteors' Hoot benefited here, taking the 15 at the bottom side to tie the series at 1. Debby again showed some muscle on offense in game 3, only to unravel by the end when Hoot picked off the 15 at the top right. Hoot advances with a 2-1 series win.

Apple Center, Todavía: Bells v. Wild Thing. Two of Oriental United's players clash in 8-ball with the blue cue. Todavía's Bells had a deep six-ball run in game 1, but the steady offense of Stonebridge's Wild Thing prevailed when Bells couldn't pot the 8. Wild Thing leads the series 1-0. The Wolves' Wild Thing unleashed an intimidating five-ball run in game 2, but a later scratch stalled his progress. The Stills' Bells would get the win on a three-ball run-out, tying the series at 1. Wild Thing again used a five-ball run in game 3, and again suffered a devastating scratch. Bells had about a quarter-inch of clearance for the 8, which she put in the top left for the win and 2-1 series win.

Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Boots v. Celestia. Coastal rivals bring the day to half completion in 13-ball with the red cue. Pearl's Boots took stripes on the break, but Oceanside's Celestia did brilliant work with positioning on solids to get the win and 1-0 series lead. The Surfers' Boots looked to have the advantage in game 2 near the end, but the Waves' Celestia hit a tough shot on the 6 to the top side on the second of her three-ball run-out for the win to seal the series at 2-0. Celestia made a pair of stripes on the break, but her offense soon stalled in game 3, allowing Boots to fill the void and earn her lone win of the 2-1 series.

Cisco Arena, Tysini: Sarah v. Megan. The league's newest pair of cousins plays head-to-head for the first time in 10-ball with the silver cue. Tysini's Sarah wasn't bad in game 1, but Oceanside's Megan attacked well and finished by double-potting the 9 and 10 to the left corners. Megan leads the series 1-0. The Hummingbirds' Sarah asserted herself late in game 2, unleashing a seven-ball run-out to stun the younger Waves' Megan. Sarah's beastly attack tied the series at 1. Megan returned fire with a five-ball run in game 3, but her offense dried up after that. Sarah posted a four-ball run and later added the 10 to get the win for a 2-1 series win.

IBM Cathedral, North Modernistic: Gizmo v. Snowball. It's time for 9-ball up north. North Modernistic's Gizmo had too many scratches in game 1, and Swordpoint's Snowball turned those free possessions into a win when she deflected off the 6 to take the 9 at the bottom side. Snowball leads the series 1-0. The Blades' Snowball carved out a five-ball run in game 2, but the Nighthawks' Gizmo two-rail kicked the 8 to the bottom side and added the 9 at the top side for the win to tie the series at 1. In game 3, Gizmo rallied for a four-ball run early in game 3, but it wouldn't matter when Snowball closed out the effort with a pair. Snowball won the series 2-1 as well.

Samsung Arena, Whitewater: Shaggy v. Marissa. A captain and a rookie tangle in Rotation with the silver cue. Whitewater's Shaggy had a fairly strong game 1, including a three-ball run-out to finish off the 8-4 win over Maplewood's Marissa. Shaggy leads the series 1-0. The Shores' Shaggy had a rough start to game 2, and wasn't able to gain control later on. The Lumberjacks' Marissa had a double-pot early on and a three-ball run-out for the 8-5 win to tie the series at 1. Shaggy trailed early in game 3, but Marissa wasted some big opportunities. Shaggy punished that with a three-ball run-out for the 8-6 win to seal the series at 2-1, which came against her 100th unique opponent.

Verizon Field Events Center, Pacific: Cowzart v. Shadow. The purple cue's lone series today is in 15-ball. Pacific's Cowzart had a three-ball run at the start of game 1, which Diamond's Shadow matched in the middle and then bested with a five-ball run-out. Shadow leads the series 1-0. The Gems' Shadow turned a fairly even game 2 into one tipped in his favor with a majority of the late possession. The Volcanoes' Cowzart slipped too far, and Shadow made the final pair to clinch the series at 2-0. Shadow had a spectacular game 3, getting one ball on the break and using a decoy 1-8 combination effort to deflect the cue back to take the 15 at the bottom side for the win and 3-0 series sweep.

Ford Forum, Pronger: Potter v. Celestia. The visitor's second series today is in 9-ball with the red cue. Oceanside's Celestia got a little lucky on her initial five-ball run in game 1, but couldn't add on later. Pronger's Potter responded to win on a three-ball run-out for a 1-0 series lead. The Waves' Celestia spread her offense out over many turns in game 2, a strategy that somehow worked as the Tridents' Potter failed to connect on much of anything. Celestia's win tied the series at 1. Potter had a four-ball run early on, which Celestia answered with a three-ball run. Celestia would later get a chance on the 9, but she left it short, and Potter sank it at the bottom left for a 2-1 series win.

AT&T Hall, Oceanside: Snuggle v. Strawberry. The blue cue has the last three series today, beginning with this 15-ball set. Oceanside's Snuggle was decent at first, but Victoria's Strawberry applied pressure with a five-ball run. She'd later add the final pair of shots, which gave Strawberry a 1-0 series lead. The Waves' Snuggle had plenty of chances in game 2, but a late scratch doomed him, setting the Spurs' Strawberry to take the 15 at the bottom left. She converted and secured the series at 2-0 in the process. Strawberry had another solid performance in game 3, but a shaky finish allowed Snuggle to nab a win, leaving the visitor to settle for a 2-1 series win.

Gillette Center, Swordpoint: Stealth v. Sleepy B. Experienced opponents meet in 9-ball with the blue cue. Swordpoint's Stealth did everything but win in game 1, taking eight balls over two shots but leaving the 9 at the bottom left. Archtown's Sleepy B. played the poacher role fine, taking the win and 1-0 series lead. The Arrows' Sleepy B. was the one to botch a late attempt to win in game 2, leaving the 9 at the top left. The Blades' Stealth happily potted it after another strong showing was only enough to tie the series at 1. Stealth would strike quickly in game 3, a 1-9 combination to the top left helping him complete the comeback for a 2-1 series win over Sleepy B.

Volkswagen Stadium Events Center, Viewpoint Sound: Cobalt v. Jennifer. A two-day event on the coast begins with today's finale in 8-ball with the blue cue. Viewpoint Sound's Cobalt had a six-ball run end with an illegally potted ball, which set Terrace City's Jennifer up for her own six-ball run. Jennifer twice missed the 8, and Cobalt drained it for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Meteors' Cobalt had a fireball-like six-ball run in game 2 at the start. The Knights' Jennifer managed a five-ball run in response, but butchered her last stripe. Cobalt then made a pair for the win to seal the series at 2-0. Jennifer wouldn't leave empty-handed, taking the win in a much closer game 3 battle that saw Cobalt settle for a 2-1 series win.

There's less than half of the Play-In Round left after today. Currently, the projected end date is Monday, but it could move to Tuesday if a day off is taken.

Tournament X - Play-In Round Day 5

We're nearing the halfway point of the Play-In Round already. Today's action gets going with...

Cisco Arena, Tysini: Hughbert v. Salmo. Outcast club-mates on new teams this year clash in 15-ball with the red cue. Tysini's Hughbert lacked a punishing attack outside of a four-ball run in the middle of game 1. Hughbert's inconsistency helped Diamond's Salmo win in the end, giving the visitor a 1-0 series lead. The Gems' Salmo cranked a six-ball run from the game 2 break, but he faded from that strong pace. The Hummingbirds' Hughbert had runs of three and four balls over his last two turns, earning the win to tie the series at 1. Hughbert returned to a choppy style late in game 3, and it would again cost him the game as he missed the 15 at the top left. Salmo cleaned it up and took the series 2-1 to get into the first round.

Chevrolet Center, Everton: Vincent v. Celestia. Younger players are set to battle in 8-ball with the red cue. Everton's Vincent seemed to battle an elbow issue on his support arm in game 1, which clearly hampered his play. Oceanside's Celestia showed little mercy in her surge to victory for a 1-0 series lead. The Eagles' Vincent had a decent start in game 2, but he fell apart in the end. The Waves' Celestia had a four-ball run to get close and then scrapped her way to the win from there, clinching the series at 2-0. Celestia couldn't get anything going in game 3, leading Vincent to a strong consolation win. Celestia won the series 2-1.

Intel Center, Diamond: Salmo v. Cobalt. The host's second series today is against another Outcast club-mate, using the green cue in Accuracy. Game 1 started off with awful play, but both players stabilized. Diamond's Salmo just missed late to force overtime, where he missed about halfway through the rack. Viewpoint Sound's Cobalt converted for a 4-5 win and 1-0 series lead. The Meteors' Cobalt faltered after a great start to game 2, but a scratch from the Gems' Salmo bailed him out. Cobalt took the 2-3 win and sealed the series at 2-0. Cobalt had the edge for most of game 3, but he slipped into a tie. Overtime started poorly, but a mid-rack miss from Cobalt gave Salmo a 3-4 win to avoid the sweep. Cobalt still won the series 2-1.

Sony Center, Queens: Pauline v. Esmeralda. The purple cue is up for this 10-ball series. Neither player had much control of their offense in game 1, but it was Queens' Pauline who picked off the 10 for the win and 1-0 series lead over Swordpoint's Esmeralda. A good break in game 2 led to a more open battle, which saw the Blades' Esmeralda make a three-ball run before missing on the 4. The Flames' Pauline struck back with a 5-10 combination to the bottom left to seal the series at 2-0 with this win. Pauline produced another quick finish in game 3, converting a 3-10 combination to the top left for the 3-0 series sweep over Esmeralda.

Cisco Arena, Tysini: Charli v. Rosalina. Southwestern Celebrity members meet in 13-ball with the purple cue. Tysini's Charli dropped three balls on the break and looked in full control in game 1. Victoria's Rosalina tried a bold kick while on a three-ball run, but illegally sank the 8 to gift Charli the win and 1-0 series lead. The Hummingbirds' Charli scratched on the game 2 break, leading the Spurs' Rosalina to pick off a five-ball run. Rosalina was never threatened in this game, the easy win tying the series at 1. Game 3 was a worthy battle on both sides, with the entire game being quite close. Charli set herself higher with an off-hand bank on the 8 to the bottom right for the win and 2-1 series win over Rosalina.

Volkswagen Stadium Events Center, Viewpoint Sound: Frosty v. Kitty. When we return from the lunch break, the green cue is up in Rotation. Viewpoint Sound's Frosty lost points to scratches in game 1, and Midland's Kitty was able to pick up the pace later on for an 8-4 win and 1-0 series lead. The Meteors' Frosty started better in game 2, but failed to keep it up much after that. The Predators' Kitty slowly rallied back and ended up winning 8-5 to secure the series at 2-0. Kitty found herself behind quickly in game 3, and only mustered a three-ball run in response. Frosty finished the 8-5 win with a 13-14 combination to the bottom left. Kitty took the series 2-1.

Nike Field Events Center, Commerce: Rosemary v. Cubby. The blue cue's lone series today is in 10-ball. Game 3 looked to be a long struggle until Rosemary banked the 3-10 combination to the bottom side to finish off Cubby in a sweep.

Pepsi Arena, Lighton: Citrus v. Niki. The green cue draws in for its last appearance today, playing 15-ball. Lighton's Citrus seemed to burn herself out a little too fast in game 1, as Commerce's Niki handled most of the late offense to earn the win. Niki is up 1-0 in the series. Game 2 was a completely different pace, as the Tradewinds' Niki started on a five-ball run that ended with a scratch. The Prestige's Citrus made a four-ball run, but Niki answered on a five-ball run-out for the win, which sealed the series at 2-0. A mixture of the two previous games, game 3 saw Citrus work a three-ball run before her miss on the 9. Niki unleashed a six-ball run-out and took the win, sweeping the series 3-0.

Coca-Cola Field Exhibition Center, Boston: Patches v. Watermelon. Leaders collide in 13-ball with the red cue. Boston's Patches had a positive break and better positioning than Pearl's Watermelon in game 1. That combination of factors made it an easy win for Patches to take a 1-0 series lead. The Swifts' Patches drained a pair on the game 2 break, but she sent her second shot from play down a bad path. The 8 fell illegally in the top side, gifting the Surfers' Watermelon the win to tie the series at 1. Watermelon ripped a five-ball run from the break in game 3, putting Patches into desperation mode. Watermelon was ultra cautious to close it out, but Patches couldn't mount a counterattack. Watermelon won the game and took the series 2-1.

Verizon Field Events Center, Pacific: Ms. Kitty v. Watermelon. A Coastal Derby wraps up the visitor's doubleheader as they play Rotation with the silver cue. Pearl's Watermelon scrapped well in a tight start to game 1, but Pacific's Ms. Kitty pulled away to an 8-4 win and 1-0 series lead. The Volcanoes' Ms. Kitty had a strong grasp on game 2, but slackened it near the end. The Surfers' Watermelon converted a pair of three-ball runs for a massive comeback in her 8-7 win, tying the series at 1. Ms. Kitty took a very casual approach to game 3, at one point falling behind a struggling and exhausted Watermelon. Ms. Kitty righted her course to win 8-5, earning a 2-1 series win despite some concerns.

Starbucks Arena, Archtown: Sleepy B. v. Crystal. Two of Solid Core's unsung heroes tangle in 7-ball with the red cue. Archtown's Sleepy B. went empty on the game 1 break, leading to Queens' Crystal running the table from a crazy cut on the 1 to the bottom right before banking the 7 to the bottom left. Crystal leads the series 1-0. The Flames' Crystal lacked the same precision in game 2, leaving the 7 standing for the Arrows' Sleepy B. to tap into the bottom right. Sleepy B. also had a three-ball run earlier en route to tying the series at 1. Sleepy B. potted a pair from the break in game 3 and added a deflection off the 2 to take the 7 to the top left after Crystal stalled out. Sleepy B. advanced on a 2-1 series win.

Apple Center, Todavía: Sierra v. Sparkles. Out on the coast, more 7-ball occurs with the silver cue. The 5 gave both players trouble in game 1 until Golden's Sparkles converted a three-ball run-out for the 1-0 series lead over Todavía's Sierra. Game 2 went faster, with the Pilots' Sparkles using a five-ball run from the break until a scratch stalled her. The Stills' Sierra made no mistake on the last two balls, taking the win and tying the series at 1. Sparkles couldn't get her attempts at runs to stick in game 3, and her miss on the 7 was punished when Sierra drained it at the bottom side. Sierra heads to the first round after this 2-1 series win.

Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Watermelon v. Blizzard. The purple cue makes its daily exit in Accuracy. Pearl's Watermelon kept a good pace in game 1, and even managed to force overtime, but she scratched on the break in the extra rack. Harrison's Blizzard took the 1-2 win for a 1-0 series lead. The Surfers' Watermelon took a step back in game 2, a drop in quality that cost her the series. The Specters' Blizzard was unrelenting in a 1-4 win to clinch the series at 2-0. Game 3 saw a sloppy finish to regulation with the players tied before they played an entire perfect rack in overtime. Watermelon faltered on the break of the second overtime rack, and Blizzard converted for a 3-4 win to sweep the series 3-0.

Cisco Arena, Tysini: Sarah v. Leonardo. The red cue is back in action with this 7-ball series. Tysini's Sarah had a six-ball run from the game 1 break, but she choked on the 7. Diamond's Leonardo buried it, poaching the win for a 1-0 series lead. The Gems' Leonardo made a good attack early in game 2, but he left the 7 near the top left at the end. The Hummingbirds' Sarah didn't waste the opportunity, converting the shot for a win to tie the series at 1. The offense tilted to Sarah in game 3, and she bested Leonardo this time with a four-ball run-out. Sarah is through to the first round with a 2-1 series win.

Apple Center, Todavía: Pedey v. Sunshine. The silver cue is done after this 7-ball series. Royal's Sunshine looked good with a four-ball run in game 1, but the debutant missed on the 6. Todavía's Pedey cleaned up a pair of shots for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Stills' Pedey didn't give the Crowns' Sunshine a chance in game 2. Pedey ran the table in the decisive game, securing the series at 2-0 on the impressive run. Pedey again made a ball on the game 3 break, but a scratch soon led to Sunshine ending a three-ball run-out with a 4-7 combination to the bottom right. Pedey settled for a 2-1 series win.

Nestle's Warriors Hall, Central: Mr. Snowman v. Luigi. Today's finale is in Accuracy with the red cue. Central's Mr. Snowman will rue his scratch on the break in game 1, which led to overtime, where he missed again and allowed Southridge's Luigi to win 2-3. Luigi is ahead 1-0 in the series. The Defenders' Luigi spent a lot of time behind in a back-and-forth game 2, and he was caught late on a close miss. The Warriors' Mr. Snowman locked in a 3-4 win to tie the series at 1. Mr. Snowman failed miserably with a scratch on the break at the head of a massive downfall. Luigi cruised to a 2-5 win for a 2-1 series win.

Archtown's Klaus looked to be in trouble at the end of his four-ball run in game 1, but Terrace City's Quincy missed the 9, a three-ball run ending early. Klaus tapped the 9 to the bottom left for the win and a 1-0 series lead. The Knights' Quincy took an ample chunk of offense in game 2 as well, but he couldn't convert the 7. The Arrows' Klaus stepped up for the final pair of shots and earned the win, clinching the series at 2-0. Klaus potted three balls on the break, but it wasn't enough. Quincy roared back to close out the game victorious, while Klaus won the series 2-1.

Intel Center, Diamond: Debby v. Bells. The blue cue draws in for this 10-ball series. Diamond's Debby put game 1 away quickly with a double-pot of the 3 and 10 to the left corners, giving her a 1-0 series lead over Todavía's Bells. The Stills' Bells cranked out a six-ball run in game 2, but came up short in the end, as the Gems' Debby put down the last two shots for the win. Debby needed three tries to make the 10 legally before winning, securing the series at 2-0. Debby played casually in game 3, and Bells made it work at the end to nab a win in Debby's 2-1 series win.

Ford Forum, Pronger: Spot v. Rudolph. The blue cue stays active in this Rotation series. Pronger's Spot didn't tear up game 1 with any single run, but a steady pace allowed him to win 8-2 for a 1-0 series lead over Harrison's Rudolph, who had little to show for his solid effort. The Specters' Rudolph put up a slightly stronger challenge in game 2, but it still wasn't enough as the Tridents' Spot attacked with good pace for an 8-4 win. Spot sealed the series at 2-0 in the process. Rudolph again got closer with his attack, but he trailed from the break, as Spot made a triple-pot to open game 3 and held on for the 8-6 win. Spot swept the series 3-0 to get to the first round.

HP Field Events Center, Midland: Rainmane v. Briana. Expect high energy in this Southeastern 15-ball set with the purple cue. Game 1 didn't disappoint, as Midland's Rainmane potted a four-ball run from the break. She lost her grip from there, and Queens' Briana won with a 4-15 combination to the top left for a 1-0 series lead. The Flames' Briana didn't assert herself well in a tougher game 2, but she kept things close. It didn't matter when Midland's Rainmane turned a miss on the 12 into a deflection to take the 15 at the top left for the win that tied the series at 1. Rainmane had a thundering break in game 3 and kept that harsh tone for the rest of the battle, picking up two shots at the end to beat Briana for the 2-1 series win.

Home Depot Forum, Web City: Waluigi v. Brownie. The silver cue's first series of the day is in 10-ball. Both players went empty on their first turns in game 1, but Web City's Waluigi turned on the heat with a ten-ball run-out on his second turn to go up 1-0 in the series over Royal's Brownie. No end-to-end runs materialized in game 2, as the Spiders' Waluigi mostly struggled this time. He was put out of his misery when the Crowns' Brownie double-potted the 4 to the bottom side and the 10 to the bottom left for the win to tie the series at 1. A cagey game 3 could have gone either way, but it was Waluigi taking the final pair of shots for the win to beat Brownie 2-1 in the series.

Microsoft Center, Del Sur: Mams v. Summer. Leading into the lunch break, we've got 9-ball with the purple cue. Unfortunate bounces ruined things in game 1 for Southern's Mams, as Maplewood's Summer used the benefits to earn the win for a 1-0 series lead. The bounces continued to favor the Lumberjacks' Summer in game 2, as her break shot deposited the 9 in the top left to clinch the series at 2-0 over the Monarchs' Mams. In game 3, Mams kept her offense sharp and clean, and picked up a slow win at the end when Summer couldn't corral the 9. Summer took the series 2-1 to get into the first round.

IBM Cathedral, North Modernistic: Cheddar v. Delila. The host begins a doubleheader with 8-ball and the purple cue. Atlantic's Delila had a great start in game 1 but failed to connect at the end. North Modernistic's Cheddar rallied on a six-ball run and made a late pair for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Nighthawks' Cheddar again busted out a six-ball run in game 2, and then put the 8 in the bottom side on her next turn to best the Pirates' Delila while clinching the series at 2-0. Cheddar had no miracle escape in game 3, as Delila's steady offense was enough to earn her lone win. Cheddar settled for a 2-1 series win.

IBM Cathedral, North Modernistic: Cheddar v. Stealth. The host's doubleheader ends in 12-ball with the green cue. North Modernistic's Cheddar yielded a wild-card ball on the game 1 break, but Swordpoint's Stealth failed to take advantage of it. Cheddar was smart and patient, working her way to a win with a three-ball run-out, which put her ahead 1-0 in the series. The Nighthawks' Cheddar again gave away a wild-card ball to start game 2, and this time the Blades' Stealth was sharp enough to strike for a win despite sending Cheddar a wild-card ball of her own. Stealth's win tied the series at 1. Stealth surrendered a wild-card ball on the game 3 break, and a couple of scratches hindered his ability to keep up. It was still a close finish, but the win went to Cheddar for the 2-1 series win.

Microsoft Center, Del Sur: Panda v. Wario. The green cue stays active for 10-ball. A close game 1 finally tipped to Southern's Panda when he made the final pair, although neither player had a true edge. Panda leads Southridge's Wario 1-0. On the game 2 break, the Monarchs' Panda left the 10 very close to the top left. Panda couldn't corral it and eventually scratched, which gave the Defenders' Wario a chance to convert the 4-10 combination. He did, and that tied the series at 1. Wario's offense ignited in game 3, with a six-ball run fueled by his banked double-pot of the 5 to the bottom side and the 7 to the bottom left. Panda had a couple of late chances to counter, but Wario would make the final pair for a 2-1 series win.

Google Hall, Modernistic: Daisy v. Stinky. The blue cue is back in this 15-ball set. Modernistic's Daisy had a decent start, but Freedom's Stinky changed that with a five-ball run. Stinky would make the last five balls over two other turns to get the win for a 1-0 lead in the series. The Cascades' Stinky didn't maintain his dominance in game 2. It looked to be a tight finish until the Union's Daisy unleashed a six-ball run-out for the win, tying the series at 1. Game 3 was as tight as it gets, with Stinky pushing the 15 away from a cluster and toward the bottom left, only for Daisy to win on a 10-15 bank combination. Daisy claimed the series 2-1 with her comeback.

Starbucks Arena, Archtown: Greg v. Shelley. The green cue's last appearance today comes in Rotation. Archtown's Greg didn't have a clinical attack, but it was miles ahead of Infinity's Shelley; Greg won 8-0 in game 1 to take a confident 1-0 series lead. The Arrows' Greg drained three balls on the game 2 break and made a five-ball run. His late-game play was weaker, but the Torpedoes' Shelley never mounted a real threat in Greg's 8-3 win to seal the series at 2-0. Greg remained confident to close out his first series, although Shelley had a little more offense in Greg's 8-5 win. Greg swept the series 3-0 to get into the first round in this event.

Sony Center, Queens: Pauline v. Oreo. We're back in 12-ball, this time using the blue cue. Queens' Pauline had a good start, but she gave Terrace City's Oreo a wild-card ball early in game 1. Oreo put on a four-ball run, Pauline answered with a three-ball run, and then Oreo knocked down her last shot for the win to take a 1-0 series lead. The Flames' Pauline held her ground in a fast game 2, but she missed contact on the 7 near the bottom side. The resulting ball-in-hand set the Knights' Oreo up for her final shot to get the win, clinching the series at 2-0 as well. Oreo made one of each on the game 3 break, which turned into a five-ball run on solids. Under pressure, Pauline crumbled, allowing Oreo to take the series in a 3-0 sweep.

FedEx Arena, Eastside: Maison v. Greg. Rookies collide for a series of 8-ball with the blue cue. Eastside's Maison appeared to have an edge in game 1, but late scratches for both players provided a reset that led to Archtown's Greg earning the win. Greg leads the series 1-0. The Sharks' Maison brought a more aggressive and successful approach in game 2, controlling the pace of play while the Arrows' Greg faltered. Maison's comfortable win tied the series at 1. Maison had a furious five-ball run to keep pace with Greg in game 3, but it was Greg to make the last two balls for the win and 2-1 series win.

Mercedes-Benz Forum, Harrison: Sydney S. v. Roxy. The red cue's lone series of the day comes in 12-ball. Harrison's Sydney S. sank a pair on the break but also committed an overfill. This left her out of position, and Freedom's Roxy punished the mistake, later winning game 1 on a three-ball run-out. Roxy owns a 1-0 series lead. The Cascades' Roxy was humbled despite leading for most of game 2. At the end, the Specters' Sydney S. found a three-ball run and kicked her final shot to the top side two turns later to tie the series at 1 game apiece. Sydney S. surrendered a wild-card ball in game 3, an unfortunate circumstance for her that led to Roxy's final double-pot for the win and 2-1 series win. Roxy heads to the first round.

McDonald's Hall, Atlantic: Steven v. Goatee. Mainstays of their respective teams meet for 15-ball with the silver cue. Westside's Goatee controlled game 1 with ease, including runs of five and three balls before she sank the final pair to take a 1-0 series lead against Atlantic's Steven. A chippy start to game 2 turned into brilliance for the Pirates' Steven, who made six balls on his last two turns to get the win against the Rockers' Goatee. This tied the series at 1. Steven saw his seven-ball run end in a scratch late in game 3, but Goatee flubbed her shot on the 15 anyway. Steven earned the win with a tap-in to secure the series at 2-1.

Kraft Forum, Royal: Kayla v. Bianca. Today's finale is 13-ball with the purple cue between Southeastern rivals. Royal's Kayla had a typical shatter break, which gave her iffy positioning. Southridge's Bianca got down to the 8 faster, but stalled out just in time for Kayla's four-ball run-out for the win. Kayla leads the series 1-0. The Crowns' Kayla had a three-ball run on stripes in game 2, but her positioning was brutal near the end of the game. The Defenders' Bianca had plenty of time to rally for the win, tying the series at 1. Game 3 came right down to the wire after Bianca blew a massive lead. Kayla got onto her final ball but couldn't bank it to the bottom left, while Bianca kicked the 8 to the top left for the 2-1 series win.

The Prestige's Shiny nearly did it again to start game 2, but had to settle for regular dominance in the form of a four-ball run-out. The Cascades' Stinky had his chances this time, but Shiny's win secured the series for her at 2-0. Shiny had a decent start again in game 3, but Stinky would pick up the last two balls for a win to avoid the sweep in a 2-1 series. Shiny is off to the first round.

Mercedes-Benz Forum, Harrison: Sydney S. v. Mams. The red cue draws in for 8-ball between these established veterans. A slow start pinned back both players, but Harrison's Sydney S. featured a five-ball run and a three-ball run-out for the win and 1-0 series lead over Southern's Mams. The Monarchs' Mams rattled down an early six-ball run in game 2, but she fell apart and couldn't finish the effort. The Specters' Sydney S. methodically rallied to get the win, clinching the series at 2-0. Mams again came up short in game 3, her offense stalling on the last ball again. Sydney S. stormed back for the win to sweep the series 3-0.

Nestle's Warriors Hall, Central: Twilight v. Shaggy. Perhaps today's biggest series, these two captains play 12-ball with the silver cue. Central's Twilight baited Whitewater's Shaggy into giving away a wild-card ball in game 1. Shaggy nearly battled back from it, but Twilight was a little sharper to get the win for a 1-0 series lead. The Shores' Shaggy had a five-ball run in game 2, ending by giving the Warriors' Twilight a wild-card ball again. Twilight went big but couldn't bank her shot to the top right, and Shaggy scooped up an easy win to tie the series at 1. Shaggy picked up a three-ball run in game 3, but it removed her defense, and Twilight countered on a three-ball run-out for the win. The tight series favored Twilight 2-1.

Toyota Arena, Freedom: Stinky v. Shawn. The host's second series today is in 9-ball with the red cue. Midland's Shawn showed flair with a jump on the 5, but his overall play was erratic. Freedom's Stinky was more consistent in game 1, and took the win with a late pair of shots for a 1-0 series lead. The Cascades' Stinky started off fine in game 2, but the Predators' Shawn struck early with a 6-9 combination to the bottom left to get the win, which tied the series at 1. A fast pace in game 3 saw Stinky rip a four-ball run, only for Shawn to counter on a three-ball run-out that gave him the series by a 2-1 margin.

Kraft Forum, Royal: Brownie v. Goatee. The purple cue will administer Rotation between these veterans. Both players kept it close initially in game 1, until Royal's Brownie pulled ahead late and picked up an 8-4 win to go up 1-0 in the series against Westside's Goatee. The Crowns' Brownie played a stronger game 2, controlling the offense nearly the whole time while the Rockers' Goatee struggled to connect her shots. Brownie won 8-2 this time, sealing the series at 2-0. Offense exploded on both sides in game 3, as Brownie used a four-ball run to erase a deficit, only for Goatee to pull to an 8-4 win with her four-ball run-out. Brownie's 2-1 series win is enough to get her into the first round.

Intel Center, Diamond: Autumn v. Graham. A rookie takes on a big-name star making his debut with a new team in Accuracy with the red cue. Central's Graham had a rough middle of game 1, costing him the win as Diamond's Autumn held on for a 2-4 win. Autumn leads the series 1-0. Both players improved in game 2, but an early scratch from the Warriors' Graham would ultimately be the difference. The Gems' Autumn stayed true for a 1-2 win to secure the series at 2-0. Autumn had another good performance in game 3, and Graham again made a critical mistake that cost him another 1-2 result. Autumn swept the series 3-0 to move into the first round.

BMW RockDome, Westside: Goatee v. Princess. After the lunch break, the blue cue is on for 13-ball. Westside's Goatee made a good effort early with a four-ball run, but Viewpoint Sound's Princess pulled ahead with a five-ball run and won on the next turn for a 1-0 series lead. The Meteors' Princess took one of each on the game 2 break and later potted a four-ball run before a scratch ruined her offense. The Rockers' Goatee had enough time to catch up and earn the win, tying the series at 1. Goatee held the edge for much of game 3 until Princess played defense late. Goatee's missed contact allowed Princess to use ball-in-hand to make the final pair of shots. Princess also won the series 2-1.

Pepsi Arena, Lighton: Acorn v. Rosalina. Southwestern rivals tangle in 8-ball with the silver cue. Lighton's Acorn unleashed a five-ball run from the break and added a three-ball run-out later, a dominant win to go ahead 1-0 in the series against Victoria's Rosalina. The Prestige's Acorn remained dangerous in game 2, but two scratches set him back far enough for the Spurs' Rosalina to get the lead and convert the 8 to the bottom right for the win. The series is tied at 1 game apiece. Rosalina weathered a big run from Acorn early in game 3, then countered with her own six-ball run-out to take the series 2-1 in a comeback.

Volkswagen Stadium Events Center, Viewpoint Sound: Frosty v. Katharine. The host begins a doubleheader with the purple cue in hand for Accuracy. Viewpoint Sound's Frosty had a ball on the break but couldn't hold the advantage in a tight game 1, as Whitewater's Katharine took a 1-0 series lead on a 1-2 win. The Shores' Katharine scratched on the game 2 break and never had a chance to get back into it, as the Meteors' Frosty stayed perfect for a 0-3 win to tie the series at 1. Frosty scratched on her first and last shots in game 3, but it was fine enough to win 2-4 against a sloppy effort from Katharine. Frosty won the series 2-1 to punch her ticket to the first round.

Sony Center, Queens: Mario v. Frosty. The visitor completes her doubleheader with the green cue's lone series today in 13-ball. Viewpoint Sound's Frosty had no luck with positioning in game 1, allowing Queens' Mario to take an easy win for a 1-0 series lead. The Meteors' Frosty was better on offense, but scratches became a problem for her in game 2 and the Flames' Mario was patient enough to exploit her mistakes. Mario would slowly build his way to the win to clinch the series at 2-0. Frosty looked thoroughly defeated in game 3, but Mario was having trouble with scratches again, slowing down his march to the win. Mario still swept the series 3-0.

Pepsi Arena, Lighton: Spirit v. Ms. Puppy. Institutions of their teams collide in 13-ball with the silver cue. Modernistic's Ms. Puppy knew exactly how to line herself up in game 1, and was rewarded with a three-ball run-out for the win and 1-0 series lead over a hapless Spirit of Lighton. The Union's Ms. Puppy had quite the battle on her hands in game 2, including a scratch that left the bottom right blocked. The Prestige's Spirit tried to dig around it but sank the 8 prematurely, and Ms. Puppy claimed the win to seal the series at 2-0. Ms. Puppy couldn't figure out the positioning in game 3, and Spirit finally cashed in a good alignment to get her lone win in Ms. Puppy's 2-1 series win.

North Modernistic's Gizmo had an awful break, but he took the win after Todavía's Sierra missed the 15 from ball-in-hand. Gizmo leads the series loosely by a 1-0 margin. Game 2 was a little faster, but the Nighthawks' Gizmo wasted all his late offense with a scratch. The Stills' Sierra didn't make a mistake this time, burying the 15 to the top left for the win to tie the series at 1. Game 3 was cut short on a brilliant 3-15 combination to the bottom side from Gizmo, which moved him to a 2-1 series win over Sierra.

Intel Center, Diamond: Salmo v. Jennifer. The purple cue's last look today is in 7-ball. Terrace City's Jennifer never got a shot in game 1, as Diamond's Salmo ran the table for the win and 1-0 series lead. That proved to be a wise strategy, as the Gems' Salmo saw an empty break in game 2 turn into a 1-7 combination to the bottom left on the first shot from the Knights' Jennifer. With that, the series became tied at 1. All's well that ends well for Salmo, as Jennifer couldn't get a run going in game 3 and Salmo converted a 2-7 combination to the top side for the win and 2-1 series win.

Gillette Center, Swordpoint: Bandit v. Klaus. The red cue is up for 15-ball here. Archtown's Klaus paced the game with an early six-ball run and plenty of other offense, but he slipped late. Swordpoint's Bandit poached the win with a pair of late shots for a 1-0 series lead. The Blades' Bandit had a much better game 2, with a four-ball run early on and a cluster-buster on the 2 that drained the 15 to the bottom left to secure the series at 2-0 over the Arrows' Klaus. In game 3, Bandit continued to play a bruising style with his shots. Klaus picked up a little offense, but missed the 15 late, and Bandit converted at the top left for a 3-0 series sweep.

Nestle's Warriors Hall, Central: Dustin v. Celestia. Two skilled foes battle in Accuracy with the silver cue. Oceanside's Celestia left her skill at home in game 1, playing poorly as Central's Dustin took the 1-0 series lead with an unchallenged 2-6 win. The Warriors' Dustin led for much of game 2 but couldn't make it stand after a late miss. His overtime break was empty, and the Waves' Celestia converted for the 2-3 win to tie the series at 1. Another close battle in game 3 saw Dustin miss a chance to win in regulation, leading to overtime. Dustin's overtime break here didn't work so well, leaving an open shot on the 4 to the top right that Celestia buried for a 2-3 win. Celestia won the series 2-1 to get into the first round.

Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Neopolitan v. Sydney S. The blue cue ends the day in 7-ball. Pearl's Neopolitan had a solid three-ball run but couldn't finish game 1 off, allowing Harrison's Sydney S. to poke the 7 to the top side for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Specters' Sydney S. rode that momentum through game 2, making a three-ball run and a four-ball run-out after the Surfers' Neopolitan was blocked for her only shot. Sydney S.'s win secured the series in her favor at 2-0. Sydney S. came up short in game 3, as Neopolitan avoided the sweep with the final pair of shots. Sydney S. settled for a 2-1 series win to advance with.

Tournament X - Play-In Round Day 2

We're ready to put on a show for the second day of games this year. First up...

Subway Arena, Stonebridge: Juno v. Lize. The opening series today is in 15-ball with the purple cue. Stonebridge's Juno didn't get much on her break, but Southridge's Lize stunned the home crowd with a shot on the 1 that led to the 15 dropping at the bottom left. Lize's miracle shot gave her a 1-0 series lead. The Defenders' Lize needed more than one shot in game 2, but a late 10-15 cut combination to the bottom side was enough to put her ahead of the Wolves' Juno by an insurmountable 2-0 margin. Juno salvaged a result in game 3 with a double-pot of the 7 to the bottom side and the 15 to the bottom left, but Lize still took the series 2-1.

Subway Arena, Stonebridge: Hershey v. Potter. The venue doubleheader closes with 8-ball and the green cue. Stonebridge's Hershey had a five-ball run in game 1, but the two-stage attack of Pronger's Potter was more effective. Potter had a pair of four-ball runs, the latter giving him the win for a 1-0 series lead. The Tridents' Potter cranked out a six-ball run from the break in game 2, but stalled out there. The Wolves' Hershey fired back to win on a five-ball run-out, tying the series at 1. Hershey made one of each on the break and took a five-ball run on stripes. Potter countered effectively with a four-ball run and a three-ball run-out for the win and 2-1 series win to put himself in the first round.

Intel Center, Diamond: Shadow v. Precious. Eastern Hills captains collide in 12-ball with the blue cue. Pronger's Precious quickly got to the side pockets, but Diamond's Shadow was faster on the right side of the table and had enough cushion to win game 1 for a 1-0 series lead. The Gems' Shadow surrendered a wild-card ball despite potting two solids on the game 2 break. The Tridents' Precious had everything aligned for the win, but missed her fourth shot and never recovered, allowing Shadow to overcome his disadvantage to clinch the series at 2-0. Shadow again gave away a wild-card ball in game 3, and Precious again came within a ball of winning. Shadow then turned on contact defense, and made it work until he could kick his last shot to the top right to sweep the series 3-0.

Coca-Cola Field Exhibition Center, Boston: Sweetheart v. Strawberry. The red cue gets its first look today in Accuracy. Boston's Sweetheart had a decent start, but a late fade led to Victoria's Strawberry claiming the game 1 win by a 1-3 score. Strawberry leads the series 1-0. The Spurs' Strawberry had a little less fortune in game 2, taking only a couple of misses. The Swifts' Sweetheart did good work to punish those, and won the game 1-2 to tie the series at 1. Sweetheart buried a pair on the break in game 3, setting the tone for her perfect finale that saw her beat Strawberry 0-2. Sweetheart took the series 2-1 and will play in the first round in this event.

Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Neopolitan v. Stinky. Team leaders battle in 8-ball with the purple cue. Pearl's Neopolitan spent virtually all of game 1 a couple steps behind Freedom's Stinky, and the latter used that advantage to take his time in a win. Stinky leads the series 1-0. Both players found a groove in game 2, with the Surfers' Neopolitan sinking five straight before the Cascades' Stinky drained four in a row. Neopolitan wouldn't miss her second try at the 8, tying the series at 1 with this win. Neopolitan weathered a lot of Stinky's offense in game 3, which played out as a mix of the previous games. Neopolitan then struck a three-ball run-out for the win and 2-1 series win.

Kraft Forum, Royal: Kayla v. Misty. More captains do battle after the lunch break in this 15-ball series with the green cue. Royal's Kayla grabbed control of game 1 with a late five-ball run, then took the 15 to the bottom left when Westside's Misty missed it. Kayla holds a 1-0 series lead. The Crowns' Kayla left the 15 near the top left early in game 2, but the Rockers' Misty never got a clean look at it. Kayla won on a 3-10-15 combination to clinch the series at 2-0. Kayla posted a strong four-ball run to start game 3, but Misty took vengeance with an eleven-ball run-out on her only turn to avoid the sweep. Kayla settled for a 2-1 series win to advance on.

Nissan Hall, Infinity: Blaze v. Princess. A rookie meets a superstar in Rotation with the red cue. Infinity's Blaze struck first, but Viewpoint Sound's Princess absolutely dominated on offense in an 8-1 win for the 1-0 series lead after game 1. Fortunes reversed in game 2, as the Torpedoes' Blaze established a strong lead and the Meteors' Princess couldn't keep up this time. Blaze tied the series at 1 with this 8-2 win. A close start in game 3 gave way to Blaze's five-ball run-out after Princess saw a scratch on the 7 for what would have been the go-ahead point. Blaze's 8-3 win secured a 2-1 series win in his favor.

Subway Arena, Stonebridge: Hershey v. Whiskers. The host's second series today is in 12-ball with the red cue. Stonebridge's Hershey made a ball on the break and didn't stop there. Maplewood's Whiskers came up empty under Hershey's pressure, giving the host a 1-0 series lead. The Lumberjacks' Whiskers had a little more success in game 2, but a late scratch allowed the Wolves' Hershey to assert himself with positioning. He would win on his next turn, sealing the series at 2-0. Hershey overfilled twice in game 3, unable to get lined up for a late run. Whiskers had little trouble nabbing this win to stick Hershey with the 2-1 series win.

Intel Center, Diamond: Debby v. Vladimir. Old faces in new places are set to face off in Accuracy with the silver cue. A close battle in game 1 required overtime, where Diamond's Debby missed on her second shot. Maplewood's Vladimir converted for the 2-3 win and 1-0 series lead. Game 2 was even closer, coming down to the last ball. The Gems' Debby sent the 2 wide of the bottom left, and the Lumberjacks' Vladimir tapped it down for a 1-2 win to secure the series at 2-0. Debby wasn't great in game 3, but she played better than Vladimir for her lone win of the series by a 4-5 score. Vladimir advances to the first round with a 2-1 series win.

Toyota Arena, Freedom: Stripes v. Pounce. Sibling rivalry strikes here in 7-ball with the red cue. Both players took their time in game 1, but Freedom's Stripes moved ahead 1-0 in the series with a three-ball run-out to leave Southern's Pounce hanging. Game 2 was another back-and-forth battle, but the Cascades' Stripes left the 7 on the table for the Monarchs' Pounce to bury at the top right. Pounce converted, with his win tying the series at 1. Stripes prevailed at the end of another tight game 3, just getting the shot down against Pounce at the end. Stripes won the series 2-1, but it was far from comfortable.

Microsoft Center, Del Sur: Panda v. Mr. Snowman. The silver cue's last turn today comes in Rotation. A fairly close start in game 1 turned into dominance for Southern's Panda who walked away with an 8-3 win over Central's Mr. Snowman. Panda leads the series 1-0. Runs were difficult to achieve in game 2, so the Monarchs' Panda chipped his way to an 8-5 victory as the Warriors' Mr. Snowman scuffled with scratches all over the table. Panda sealed the series at 2-0. Panda couldn't quite finish off the sweep, as Mr. Snowman put up a resistance and won game 3 by an 8-7 score. Panda advances on a 2-1 series win instead.

Chevrolet Center, Everton: Bear v. Brownie. The green cue is in for 12-ball here. Everton's Bear had a four-ball run early on, but late positioning failed him, especially under pressure from Royal's Brownie playing a physical style. Brownie would surge all the way at the end for the win, going up 1-0 in the series. The Crowns' Brownie held her defense at the bottom left just long enough for the Eagles' Bear to give up a wild-card ball late in game 2. Brownie then converted to the top side for the win to seal the series at 2-0. Brownie didn't have much in the way of strategy for game 3, but Bear was a little slow to strike. Bear did get the win eventually, leaving Brownie with a 2-1 series win.

IBM Cathedral, North Modernistic: Gizmo v. Whiskers. The visitor gets her second look today, shooting Accuracy with the purple cue. North Modernistic's Gizmo made a mess of game 1, leading to an easy 0-4 win and 1-0 series lead for Maplewood's Whiskers. The Lumberjacks' Whiskers nearly kept it perfect in game 2, but she unraveled at the end, and the Nighthawks' Gizmo stole a 2-3 win to tie the series at 1. Gizmo drained three balls on the break and kept up a brilliant pace of play in game 3, while Whiskers missed just once late in a 0-1 win for Gizmo. This gave Gizmo the series 2-1.

McDonald's Hall, Atlantic: Delila v. Sally. Captains clash with the green cue in 10-ball. Atlantic's Delila seemed fine in game 1 until she illegally potted the 10. Confidence shaken, Delila crumpled as Archtown's Sally rallied for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Arrows' Sally started fine in game 2, but the Pirates' Delila took over with a pair of three-ball runs late to earn the win. Delila's surge put her in a series tied at 1 game apiece. Sally scratched after making the 8 in game 3, but Delila faltered on the 10, and Sally knocked it down at the bottom right to advance with a 2-1 series win.

FedEx Arena, Eastside: Maison v. Jane. Eastern Hills rookies get their first taste of the regional rivalry in 13-ball with the blue cue. Eastside's Maison showed off his heady playing style in game 1, strategizing and executing well ahead of Stonebridge's Jane to earn the win and 1-0 series lead. The Sharks' Maison couldn't recover from a scratch early in game 2, giving the Wolves' Jane plenty of room to work with as she evened the series at 1-1. Jane ripped a four-ball run from the break, but a late scratch tipped the momentum to Maison, who buried a three-ball run-out for the win and 2-1 series win. Maison heads to the first round.

HP Field Events Center, Midland: Rainmane v. Sage. Closing out the day, we've got drastically different veterans using the purple cue in 8-ball. Midland's Rainmane made up for a bad break with a six-ball run, but Victoria's Sage fought back with seven balls over two turns to get the win for a 1-0 series lead. The Predators' Rainmane again used a six-ball run in game 2, but this time it was to defeat the Spurs' Sage at the end. Rainmane's beastly attack helped her tie the series at 1. Rainmane had some good moments in game 3, but a five-ball run put Sage ahead, and she made the 8 on the next shot for the win. Sage advanced to the first round on a 2-1 series win.

Play-In Round action continues tomorrow with another 16-series day.

As part of this year's restructured Tournament, we now have an 11-day Play-In Round contested by the bottom eight players for each cue in each event. Google Hall, Modernistic: Kodiak v. Diddley. The silver cue opens the Tournament in 7-ball. Kodiak set the tone from the start of game 1, making a ball on the break and then running the table to take a 1-0 series lead without Maplewood's Diddley getting a shot. The Lumberjacks' Diddley found a three-ball run in the middle of game 2, but the Union's Kodiak potted the final pair for the win to seal the series at 2-0. Kodiak made a quick clean sweep with the 7 dropping in the top side on the game 3 break, as he knocked Diddley 3-0 out of this bracket.

Home Depot Forum, Web City: Omari v. Melissa. The green cue makes its competitive debut in 7-ball. Web City's Omari scratched on the game 1 break, but still picked up a four-ball run. He missed on the 7, and Terrace City's Melissa struck for the win at the bottom right, giving her a 1-0 series lead. The Knights' Melissa pinched the 7 to the top side on the game 2 break, but she also scratched at the bottom right, gifting the win to the Spiders' Omari, which tied the series at 1. Omari had his chances in game 3, including a three-ball run, but a late miss on the 7 set up Melissa at the bottom right for the win and 2-1 series win to put her through to the first round.

Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Wings v. Peach. The purple cue's competitive debut is on in 12-ball. Pearl's Wings yielded a wild-card ball in game 1, and North Modernistic's Peach made good use of the advantage to earn the win for a 1-0 lead in the series. The Nighthawks' Peach rattled off a three-ball run from the break, and closed with a three-ball run-out just after the Surfers' Wings had caught up. This win secured the series for Peach at 2-0. Wings plucked game 3 away from Peach, as the latter couldn't align at the sides while Wings made the comeback on a three-ball run-out. Peach still advanced with a 2-1 series win.

Intel Center, Diamond: Autumn v. Kitty. Young players draw in for 15-ball in the silver cue's last appearance today. Diamond's Autumn made a good first impression in game 1, but it wasn't enough. Midland's Kitty deflected a shot off the 9 to pot the 15 at the bottom left for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Gems' Autumn again showed well on offense in game 2, but a late miss on the 15 allowed the Predators' Kitty to strike for a gritty win to clinch the series at 2-0. Autumn turned up the offense in game 3, potting a six-ball run and a three-ball run-out to steal a game from Kitty, who will head to the first round on a 2-1 series win.

Kraft Forum, Royal: Brownie v. Pauline. A Southeastern Derby is set for 8-ball with the red cue. Queens' Pauline was a little slow out of the gate, giving Royal's Brownie all the cushion she needed. Brownie won on a three-ball run-out to go ahead 1-0 in the series. The Crowns' Brownie paced game 2 for awhile, but the Flames' Pauline pulled even with a three-ball run and snagged the 8 on her second try at the end, tying the series at 1. Brownie never got off the launch pad in game 3, as Pauline attacked with heavy offense and shut her out. Pauline came back for a 2-1 series win to put herself in the first round.

Nissan Hall, Infinity: Fuchsia v. Josie. When we return, Outcast club-mates clash in Rotation with the red cue. Infinity's Fuchsia had a good start, but Oceanside's Josie made game 1 a little close with a three-ball run. Fuchsia then made a three-ball run-out for the 8-5 win and 1-0 series lead. The Waves' Josie turned it around in game 2, starting strong at first before the Torpedoes' Fuchsia fought back. Josie then worked a three-ball run-out for the 8-5 win which tied the series at 1. Fuchsia found a groove early on in game 3, and held off Josie at the end for the 8-4 win and 2-1 series win. Fuchsia will book a ticket to the first round.

Amazon Field Exhibition Hall, Golden: Max v. Rudolph. The purple cue is back in action with 10-ball. Harrison's Rudolph committed a few too many errors in game 1, making it easy for Golden's Max to dictate the pace and ultimately earn the win. Max is up 1-0 in the series. The Specters' Rudolph made a good decision to defer play back to the Pilots' Max early in game 2. Later on, Rudolph had the chance to convert a three-ball run-out and did so for the win to tie the series at 1. Rudolph baited Max into an early error in game 3, but Rudolph stalled out after his five-ball run. Max would get the win on an 8-10 combination to the bottom left, which clinched the series in his favor at 2-1.

IBM Cathedral, North Modernistic: Cheddar v. Diddley. The red cue's last turn today comes in 9-ball. North Modernistic's Cheddar needed some time to find her groove, but then dispatched game 1 on a five-ball run-out to take a 1-0 series lead over Maplewood's Diddley. The Nighthawks' Cheddar was a little less dominant in game 2, but she did pot the final six balls over three turns with help from a scratch by the Lumberjacks' Diddley. This sealed the series at 2-0 for Cheddar. In game 3, Diddley saw a four-ball run halted by a scratch, and Cheddar used the ball-in-hand to spark a four-ball run-out for the win. Cheddar swept the series 3-0.

Home Depot Forum, Web City: Nibbles v. Sweetheart. Powerful shooters clash in 7-ball with the blue cue. Web City's Nibbles asserted himself with the 7 near the top left, and he converted a 6-7 combination to get the win after Boston's Sweetheart came up short on the 6. Nibbles leads the series 1-0. The Spiders' Nibbles had a more even battle with the Swifts' Sweetheart in game 2, which came down to the latter missing the 7 from distance. Nibbles buried it to the bottom right, clinching the series at 2-0 in the process. Nibbles never let Sweetheart see the table in game 3, potting seven balls over six shots for the win and 3-0 series sweep.

GE Stadium Events Center, Southridge: Wario v. Watermelon. More 7-ball with the blue cue awaits here. Southridge's Wario made a ball on the game 1 break, then won two shots later with a 2-7 combination to the bottom right, taking a 1-0 series lead without a single shot taken by Pearl's Watermelon. The Defenders' Wario needed more time in game 2, but the Surfers' Watermelon didn't offer much resistance anyway. Wario closed a four-ball run-out on a 6-7 combination to the top left to secure the series at 2-0. Watermelon didn't leave the series empty-handed, snagging game 3 late after Wario couldn't corral the 7 at the top right. Wario won the series 2-1 to get into the first round.

Kraft Forum, Royal: Brownie v. Patches. Another Southeast Derby is on in 15-ball with the purple cue. A hot start cooled in the middle on both sides, but Royal's Brownie had just enough of an edge at the end for the win and 1-0 series lead over Boston's Patches. Game 2 also started close, but the Swifts' Patches lost her grip in the middle, while the Crowns' Brownie capped a three-ball run-out with a deflection off the 10 to put the 15 in the bottom left. Brownie sealed the series at 2-0 with this win. Patches' aggressiveness led to a couple of errors in game 3, which in turn allowed Brownie large chunks of offense. Brownie would again earn the win, sweeping the series 3-0.

Google Hall, Modernistic: Daisy v. Chicky Phil. After a short intermission, the green cue plays Rotation. Modernistic's Daisy started out fine, but faltered late, allowing Midland's Chicky Phil to make five balls over two turns for the 8-6 win in game 1. Chicky Phil is ahead 1-0 in the series. The Predators' Chicky Phil was able to turn an error from the Union's Daisy into a four-ball run-out, taking game 2 by an 8-4 score to seal the series at 2-0. Daisy mailed it in for game 3, allowing Chicky Phil to run roughshod for a 9-0 win on a late double-pot. Chicky Phil swept the series 3-0.

BMW RockDome, Westside: Chimpy v. Twinkie II. Veterans collide in 10-ball with the green cue. Harrison's Twinkie II looked awful in game 1, giving a lot of free possession to Westside's Chimpy. He took advantage in the end, as Chimpy won the game for a 1-0 series lead. The two players seemingly met in the middle in quality for game 2, but inconsistency for the Specters' Twinkie II allowed the Rockers' Chimpy to get the win again, which in turn sealed the series at 2-0. Chimpy fell apart in game 3, allowing Twinkie II to make the final seven balls over two turns for her lone win in a 2-1 series.

Ebay Center, Queens: Briana v. Whiskers. Fiery foes are set to battle in the blue cue's last look of the day in Rotation. Queens' Briana stormed ahead by a mile early in game 1, but Maplewood's Whiskers clawed back and rallied on a three-ball run-out for the 8-7 win and 1-0 series lead. The Lumberjacks' Whiskers took a turn to the defensive side for most of game 2, frustrating the Flames' Briana to no end. Whiskers then struck for a double-pot of the 10 and 13 at the left corners for the 9-5 win to seal the series at 2-0. Briana asserted herself much faster in game 3, then coasted to an 8-4 win to deny Whiskers' attempt at a sweep. Whiskers moves on with a 2-1 series win.

AT&T Hall, Oceanside: Rocky v. Angelica. A pair of rookies are set to meet in 9-ball with the green cue. Oceanside's Rocky made six balls in two turns, but he left the 9 standing for Lighton's Angelica to bury at the bottom left for the win. Angelica holds a 1-0 series lead. In game 2, both players buried four-ball runs, but it was the Prestige's Angelica who left the 9 short at the top left. The Waves' Rocky tapped it down for the win to tie the series at 1. Things slowed down for game 3, which saw Rocky eventually pot the final pair to take the series 2-1 over Angelica.

Google Hall, Modernistic: Ms. Puppy v. Buddy. The final series on opening day is Accuracy with the green cue. A good start on both sides in game 1 saw Modernistic's Ms. Puppy falter first, and Atlantic's Buddy held tight to get the 1-4 win. The Union's Ms. Puppy did a much better job of clamping down in game 2, playing perfectly in a 0-1 win over the Pirates' Buddy to tie the series at 1. Buddy again faltered in game 3, unraveling late as Ms. Puppy closed out her comeback with a 2-5 win. Ms. Puppy's 2-1 series win punches her ticket to the first round.

That's one day in the books. This Tournament is expected to be the longest ever, so buckle up for months of thrilling action.
