UPCL Bowl Series 2021 - Day 7

Today's another four day set of some of the less prominent inter-club bowls. First up...

Home Depot Forum, Web City: Marsell v. Leonardo. Forest SC and Solid Core collide in this set with the purple cue. Diamond's Leonardo sank a three-ball run to end a slow start in 7-ball, but he missed on the 7 and Whitewater's Marsell tapped it in at the bottom left. Marsell owns a 1-0 series lead. In 8-ball, the Shores' Marsell took the early lead and held it, but couldn't corral the 8. The Gems' Leonardo came all the way back with a six-ball run-out for the win to tie the series at 1. Marsell fired away with three balls on the break for a five-ball run before he scratched. Leonardo replied with a pair, but Marsell made the final pair for the win and 2-1 series lead. Marsell continued to pace the offense in 10-ball, and he was rewarded with the win after making five of the last six balls to stall out Leonardo's offense. Marsell owns a 3-1 series lead. Marsell started with a four-ball run in 12-ball, and he wouldn't be slowed down after that. Leonardo answered with a three-ball run, but he sacrificed defense for a comeback that came up short, giving Marsell a 4-1 series lead. In 13-ball, Marsell wasn't able to finish things off after a scratch. Leonardo was able to make a push at the end to get the win and cut the deficit to 4-2. Marsell wrapped up the series in Rotation, taking an 8-6 win as Leonardo's late push of offense fell short again. Marsell clinched the series at 5-2. Marsell was effective on offense but too shaky at the end, with a scratch to let Leonardo earn the win on a pair of shots. Marsell's series lead stands at 5-3. Marsell took Accuracy as well, pulling away to a 2-4 win to finish with a 6-3 series win over Leonardo in the Web City Bowl.

Mitsubishi Arena, Apex: Summer v. Hershey. East Division rivals from Outcast and Forest SC play with the purple cue. Maplewood's Summer was okay early in 7-ball, but Stonebridge's Hershey bested her on a five-ball run-out for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Lumberjacks' Summer weathered the early attack from the Wolves' Hershey in 8-ball. Summer then stepped up after Hershey's scratch to make a four-ball run-out, earning the win and tying the series at 1. Hershey had a chance to make a late attack, but his miss on the 8 allowed Summer to make five of the last six balls for the win and 2-1 series lead. Hershey didn't stay down for long, finding a quick finish in 10-ball with a deflection off the 2 to make the 10 at the bottom left. The series is tied again at 2. Summer took a quick lead in 12-ball despite an empty break. She had a four-ball run early and then picked her way to the win as Hershey got tangled up. Summer leads the series again at 3-2. Hershey kept things close in 13-ball as well, but it was Summer who found the path forward at the end. Hershey's scratch sealed his fate as Summer pulled ahead 4-2 in the series. In Rotation, Summer didn't hesitate to play for big offense. Hershey didn't have much of a response as Summer cruised to an 8-2 win that secured the series for her at 5-2. Summer didn't waste time on offense, but Hershey also brought some pace this time, earning the win with an 11-15 combination to the bottom left. Summer's series lead is down to 5-3. Summer pulled off another win in Accuracy with a 2-3 win over Hershey in a tight battle. Summer won the Apex Bowl 6-3.

Nike Field Events Center, Commerce: Sparkles v. Cheddar. The purple cue gets another turns between members of Oriental United and Youth Movement. Golden's Sparkles was solid in 7-ball, but North Modernistic's Cheddar was able to make the final pair for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Pilots' Sparkles started slow again in 8-ball, and the Nighthawks' Cheddar was able to pick up some of the slack. Cheddar took it easy at the end but still went unchallenged for the win to go ahead 2-0 in the series. Sparkles had a couple of looks at the 9 in 9-ball, but some errors slowed her down. Cheddar played smart at the finish, lightly deflecting off the 7-9 combination to get an extra correcting push on the 9 to the top left for the win. Cheddar is ahead 3-0 in the series. Sparkles had a look at the 2-10 combination in 10-ball, but she couldn't get it to fall. Cheddar then deflected off the 2 to sink the 10 at the bottom left for the win and 4-0 series lead. Sparkles had a chance to get the win from a ball-in-hand play, but she missed her second shot and Cheddar won 12-ball with the 4 dropping in the top side. Cheddar sealed the series at 5-0. Sparkles again looked solid on offense in 13-ball, but she was lacking a touch of finishing pace that allowed Cheddar to take another win for the 6-0 series lead. Sparkles was right on the edge of a close win in Rotation when she double-tapped her shot on the 14. Cheddar bounced back with a pair of shots for the 8-7 win to move ahead 7-0 in the series. Sparkles was overwhelmed in 15-ball, as Cheddar made a five-ball run early and a three-ball run-out to dominate in another win for the 8-0 series lead. Sparkles took one last pummeling in Accuracy, as Cheddar controlled the game in a 1-7 win to complete the incredibly rare 9-0 series sweep. The Commerce Bowl belongs to Cheddar.

IBM Cathedral, North Modernistic: Molly v. Blair. The green cue ends the day between Enterprise and Forest SC. Apex's Blair had a nice push late in 7-ball, but he couldn't dig the 7 out of the bottom left. Southern's Molly tapped it down there for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Wonders' Blair got a free win in 8-ball after a solid start, as the Monarchs' Molly accidentally sank the 8 at the top right. Molly remained fearless on offense in 9-ball, but it didn't pay off. Blair was able to make the final pair this time, earning the win to go ahead 2-1 in the series. Molly rattled off a five-ball run in 10-ball, only to miss on the 10 itself. Blair cleaned up another piece of offense at the end to get the win and 3-1 series lead. Molly made a good physical play to slow down Blair in 12-ball, but it didn't stop him from resetting and getting the win anyway. Blair's surge has him up 4-1 ahead in the series. Molly had another solid break in 13-ball, but Blair immediately struck for a three-ball run. The rest of his positioning worked out well as he outran Molly to get the win. Blair secured the series at 5-1 with this win. Blair pulled out to a large lead in Rotation, then let Molly tie the game before stealing it away from her. Blair's 8-7 win gave him a 6-1 series lead. Molly put in a decent effort in 15-ball and still came up short on the 15, which Blair tapped in at the top side to extend his series lead to 7-1. Molly finally got another win, dominating 1-4 in a win over Blair to finish the series. Blair took the North Modernistic Bowl by a 7-2 score.

UPCL Bowl Series 2021 - Day 6

Another four-pack of bowls is on today. First up...

Cisco Arena, Tysini: Tigerette v. Ruby. Prime and Enterprise clash with the red cue in today's opener. Boston's Tigerette ran the table in 7-ball, preventing Todavía's Ruby from making a response. Tigerette owns a 1-0 series lead. The Swifts' Tigerette put in a decent effort in 8-ball, but a hotter start from the Stills' Ruby allowed her to work her way to a win, tying the series at 1. Ruby ripped a five-ball run with a pair of bank shots in 9-ball, but she missed a tricky play on the 9. Tigerette collected the final pair of shots to get the win and 2-1 series lead. In 10-ball, neither player could string offense together. Tigerette chipped a few too many shots, and Ruby was able to get the final pair for the win, tying the series again at 2. Tigerette took a late scratch in 12-ball as she couldn't find a play at the bottom side, but Ruby kicked her last ball into the bottom right on a double-kiss to get the win and 3-2 series lead. Tigerette bounced back in a creative 13-ball game. Both she and Ruby had good plays, but Tigerette's pace earned her the win and tied the series at 3. Tigerette again set the tone with a strong pace in Rotation, while Ruby flailed around with little shooting luck. Tigerette won 8-1 and leads the series 4-3. Tigerette didn't wait long in 15-ball to finish off the series, making the 2 on a cut and then deflecting off the 3 to make a 14-15 combination at the bottom left. The stunningly fast finish clinched the series for Tigerette at 5-3 over Ruby. Tigerette had a chance to win in Accuracy, but her late miss left it in a 2-2 tie. Tigerette defeated Ruby 5-3-1 in the Tysini Bowl.

Google Hall, Modernistic: Violetta v. Frosty. Two fierce opponents represent Outcast and Solid Core in a battle with the blue cue. Queens' Violetta had the better of the offense in a choppy 7-ball battle. She committed a stick foul, but Freedom's Frosty failed to run out the game, and Violetta won for a 1-0 series lead. The Flames' Violetta trailed for much of 8-ball, but her defense stalled out the Cascades' Frosty on her last ball. Violetta then plucked a three-ball run-out for the win to go up 2-0. Things continued in a similar manner in 9-ball. Frosty had a look at a run but missed on the 7, allowing Violetta to rally for a three-ball run-out that gave her a 3-0 series lead. Violetta was the one to stumble in 10-ball, with her miss on the 7 allowing Frosty to get on the board with a four-ball run-out. Violetta leads the series 3-1. Violetta didn't get much going in 12-ball either, with Frosty taking the early lead and then winning with a pair of shots, including a kick on the 14 to the bottom side. Violetta's series lead is down to 3-2. Frosty put in a strong performance in 13-ball, but she couldn't get her last ball down. Violetta had just enough offense to take the win at the end, pushing her series lead to 4-2. Violetta's break didn't lead to a great pace on offense in Rotation. Frosty had a couple of sustained attacks that helped her earn an 8-5 win to get back within a game, trailing 4-3 in the series. Violetta turned things around dramatically in 15-ball, rattling off a six-ball run before she scratched. Frosty responded with a five-ball run and a miss on the 14, and Violetta sank the final pair to seal the series at 5-3. Frosty led for much of Accuracy, but a couple of late misses allowed Violetta to claim a 1-2 win for the 6-3 series win. Violetta has added a Modernistic Bowl title to her resume.

Coca-Cola Field Exhibition Center, Boston: Ms. Puppy v. Solaris. Division rivals from Prime and Youth Movement meet with the blue cue. Modernistic's Ms. Puppy had a chance to a win a choppy 7-ball game, but she missed contact at embarrassingly close range. Commerce's Solaris got the win for a 1-0 series lead. In 8-ball, the Tradewinds' Solaris used a scratch to slow down the Union's Ms. Puppy at the end. Solaris then made a pair of shots for the win and 2-0 series lead. Ms. Puppy answered in 9-ball, using a trick play off the 4 to bank the 9 to the top right as Solaris struggled to get a grip on offense. Solaris remains ahead 2-1 in the series. Ms. Puppy had a chance to finish off 10-ball and couldn't do it, missing the 10 to the top left. Solaris got stylish with the finish, burying the 10 on a kick to push his series lead up to 3-1. Ms. Puppy had to come up with a defensive play in 12-ball, and she did it by blocking the bottom side. Solaris couldn't play through it, and Ms. Puppy won on a four-ball run-out to cut the deficit to 3-2. Ms. Puppy took the early with offense in 13-ball, and she had the positioning just right at the end to make a pair after Solaris' comeback run fell short. The series is tied at 3. Ms. Puppy made a rally from deep back in Rotation, potting four in a row before a miss on the 15. Solaris cleaned up the 15 at the bottom left for an 8-7 win to retake the series lead at 4-3. Ms. Puppy had an error in the middle of 15-ball, and Solaris rallied from there on a six-ball run-out to get the win and clinch the series at 5-3. Solaris struggled in Accuracy, while Ms. Puppy put in a perfect effort to earn a 0-4 win. Solaris took the Boston Bowl by a 5-4 score.

Oracle Forum, Phoenix: Maren v. Lindsay. We welcome Phoenix, home of the Firebirds, to the league with the Songstresses showcase with the green cue. Apex's Maren opened with a win in 7-ball, finishing off a four-ball run-out after Stonebridge's Lindsay went quiet. Maren leads the series 1-0. The Wonders' Maren had a decent start to 8-ball, but she faded later on. The Wolves' Lindsay picked up the slack and slowly earned a win to tie the series at 1. Lindsay kept her offense on high in 9-ball, rallying with a four-ball run-out after a choppy start from Maren. Lindsay is up to a 2-1 series lead. Maren got it right back with a quick strike in 10-ball. Lindsay failed to make a 3-10 combination, and Maren sank the 10 to the top left with a deflection play, retying the series at 2. Maren had a solid break in 12-ball, but Lindsay got the positioning in her favor. That led Lindsay to a five-ball run-out that restored her series lead at 3-2. Maren delivered another good break in 13-ball, only for Lindsay to immediately take control on solids. Lindsay finished off with a three-ball run-out this time, pushing her series lead to 4-2. Maren made a three-ball run off the break in Rotation, but her offense just about ran out there. Lindsay won 8-4 in this game, securing the series at 5-2. Lindsay made a five-ball run that ended with an illegal contact jump shot. Maren took the ball-in-hand to sink a 4-15 combination to the top left for the win, trimming Lindsay's series lead to 5-3. The club-mates settled for a 2-2 tie in Accuracy, giving Lindsay a 5-3-1 series win over Maren in the first series from Phoenix.

UPCL Bowl Series 2021 - Day 5

We'll cross the midpoint of the Bowl Series today. First up...

Chevrolet Center, Everton: Boots v. Twilight. The Reality Championship is on, using the red cue. Central's Twilight picked up the win on a three-ball run-out after shaky play for herself and Pearl's Boots. Twilight owns a 1-0 series lead. The Warriors' Twilight was too slow on offense in 8-ball, allowing the Surfers' Boots to establish an early lead. Boots was a little shaky at the end, but she closed out the win to tie the series at 1. Boots had some offense early in 9-ball, but Twilight made five balls over her last two turns to grab the win and 2-1 series lead. Twilight stayed strong throughout most of 10-ball, finishing with a three-ball run-out this time to get the win and 3-1 series lead over Boots. Twilight didn't have much positioning in her favor in 12-ball, while Boots stumbled a couple of times and still got the win to cut the deficit to 3-2. Twilight again couldn't solve the positioning in 13-ball, as Boots dealt with the 8 blocking the bottom left significantly better. Boots finished it off for a win to tie the series at 3. In Rotation, Boots didn't hesitate after a slow start. Twilight was caught out of position on all her later turns, and Boots cruised to an 8-2 win for the 4-3 series lead. Twilight couldn't get back on track in 15-ball, making a few shots but ceding the series as Boots buried a six-ball run-out to clinch it at 5-3. In Accuracy, Boots set a fast pace and Twilight kept up well. Both players made just one mistake each, a scratch, leaving it tied 1-1. Boots won the Reality Championship 5-3-1.

Mercedes-Benz Forum, Harrison: Nibbles v. Goldy. Outcast and Oriental United have their duel with the red cue. Web City's Nibbles started fairly well in 7-ball, but his four-ball run went to waste with poor distance shooting. Everton's Goldy sank the final pair of shots for the win and 1-0 series lead. In 8-ball, the Spiders' Nibbles enjoyed another hot start, only for the Eagles' Goldy to rally from behind for the win and 2-0 series lead. Goldy waited for a chance to strike in 9-ball, but Nibbles finally sustained some offense with a seven-ball run-out for the win, cutting Goldy's advantage to 2-1. Nibbles didn't mess around in 10-ball, sinking two balls on the break and adding a 2-10 combination to the top left two shots later to prevent Goldy from getting a shot. Nibbles has tied the series at 2. In 12-ball, Nibbles tried to gut out a tough battle, but Goldy had just enough defense and positioning to escape with the win to regain the series lead at 3-2. Missed opportunities slowed down both players in 13-ball, but Goldy maintained a lead throughout to get the better of Nibbles again. Goldy's series lead is up to 4-2. Nibbles refused to go quietly, taking an 8-4 in Rotation as Goldy struggled to build offense. Nibbles trails 4-3 in the series. Nibbles put in another fighting effort in 15-ball, eventually sniping the final pair as Goldy lacked precision. The series is tied at 4. Goldy had just enough in the tank to come back from an early deficit in Accuracy. Nibbles faded late as Goldy won the game 3-4 and the series 5-4 for the Harrison Bowl.

Intel Center, Diamond: Missy v. Wario. Reality and the Guild of Acting clash in the third bowl of the day, using the silver cue. In 7-ball, both players struggled to execute shots. Southridge's Wario gave the game away by illegally potting the 7 to gift a 1-0 series lead to Capital City's Missy. The Sharpshooters' Missy tried to play defense in 8-ball, but it didn't pan out for her. The Defenders' Wario was crisp in attack and earned the win to tie the series at 1. Missy bounced back in 9-ball thanks to a late scratch from Wario. Missy won on a three-ball run-out and reclaimed the series lead at 2-1. Wario flubbed his look at a 6-10 combination in 10-ball, and Missy was there to clean it up at the top left for the win and 3-1 series lead. Missy had a chance to attack late in a fast 12-ball game, but she couldn't get the 5 to the bottom side. Wario had given Missy a ball, but he bounced back on the next turn with a three-ball run-out to cut the deficit to 3-2 overall. Wario thought he had the win in 13-ball, but post-game review returned an uncalled overfill and a foul finish on the 8, giving the win again to Missy, who now holds a 4-2 series lead. Missy finished things off in Rotation, surging in the middle to beat Wario 8-4 while clinching the series at 5-2. In 15-ball, Wario looked a little stronger on offense, only to send the 15 wide of the bottom right, where Missy cleaned it up for the win. Missy's series lead is up to 6-2. Missy had an awful performance in Accuracy as Wario stayed perfect for a 0-4 win. Missy won the series 6-3 to claim the Diamond Bowl.

BMW RockDome, Westside: Jack v. Smokey. Another top bowl with the red cue sees Forest SC and Brute Force meet. Neither player let loose in 7-ball, with Web City's Jack sneaking away with the win on the final pair of shots for a 1-0 series lead over Pacific's Smokey. In 8-ball, the Volcanoes' Smokey tried to gum things up in the middle, but the Spiders' Jack broke through with a four-ball run-out to take a 2-0 series lead. In 9-ball, Smokey continued to make some good plays, only to fall short. This time, Jack grabbed the 9 at the top left for the win to go up 3-0 in the series. Jack peaked too early in 10-ball, making a four-ball run but missing on the 9 at the bottom left. Smokey buried the final pair to get on the board, now trailing 3-1 in the series. Jack rattled off some offense early in 12-ball, and while Smokey caught up, he couldn't corral his last ball. Jack took the 5 at the top side to push his series lead to 4-1. Jack secured the series in 13-ball, as neither player was particularly sharp on offense. Smokey never got a run together, and Jack's steadier pace earned him the win for the 5-1 series lead. Jack didn't let up in a choppy Rotation, relentlessly attacking on offense to grab an 8-1 win over Smokey for the 6-1 series lead. Jack made a three-ball run-out to add 15-ball to his side of the ledger, as Smokey's late push for offense ended up disjointed and slow. Jack's series lead is up to 7-1. Jack was not at his best in Accuracy, but he still escaped with a 5-6 win to beat Smokey 8-1 in the series, which should spark a rivalry between their teams next year.

UPCL Bowl Series 2021 - Day 4

We're set to begin a new day of bowls, beginning with...

GE Stadium Events Center, Southridge: Oreo v. Noelle. Prime meets Brute Force in this battle with the silver cue. Terrace City's Oreo couldn't keep control on offense in 7-ball, and Central's Noelle buried a 6-7 combination to the bottom side for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Knights' Oreo continued to play with confidence in 8-ball, and this time she easily earned the win as the Warriors' Noelle struggled overall. The series is tied at 1. In 9-ball, both players had strong turns, but Oreo was a little bit better to snipe the 9 at the bottom right, giving her a 2-1 series lead over Noelle. Oreo showed strong composure in 10-ball, making a four-ball run-out after a tough battle saw Noelle fade late. Oreo's series lead is up to 3-1. In 12-ball, Oreo had her fair share of smart plays, but Noelle got physical at the bottom side to get the win. Noelle is back within a 3-2 score in the series. Oreo had a couple of poorly-timed scratches in 13-ball, allowing Noelle to go unchecked at the end for the win. The series is tied again at 3. Oreo put in a solid effort in Rotation, but Noelle's three-ball run near the middle helped her pull away for an 8-5 win to gain the 4-3 series lead. In 15-ball, both players had some good looks on offense, but Noelle was the one to finish it off. Her deep rally in the series clinched the Southridge Bowl in her favor at 5-3. Noelle held her own in Accuracy as well, claiming one more win over Oreo by a 6-3 score to finish the bowl.

Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Twinkie II v. Vincent. Reality and Humanity tangle with the blue cue in today's second bowl. Harrison's Twinkie II had a couple of looks at the 7 that didn't go in before Everton's Vincent tapped it down to win and take a 1-0 series lead after 7-ball. The Eagles' Vincent put in another comeback effort in 8-ball, but the Specters' Twinkie II was able to fend him off this time. The series is tied at 1. In 9-ball, Twinkie II finally showed a bit more finishing quality. She buried a three-ball run-out after Vincent couldn't surge late. Twinkie II is ahead 2-1 in the series. Twinkie II shut out Vincent in 10-ball, winning on her third shot with a deflection off the 3 to take the 10 at the bottom left. Twinkie II pulled off a shutout of a different kind in 12-ball, as Vincent scratched on his only made shot in the game. Twinkie II won on a three-ball run-out to push her series lead to 4-1. In 13-ball, Twinkie II didn't have the same kind of good fortune. Vincent was a little shaky but steady enough to win, cutting the deficit to 4-2. Twinkie II had a decent start in Rotation but couldn't finish off the effort, allowing Vincent to rally from behind for an 8-5 win. Vincent is now down just 4-3 in the series. In 15-ball, Twinkie II had a run in the middle that ended with a miss on the 8. Vincent then spun a kick off the left rail to make the 8-15 combination at the bottom left, tying the series at 4. Twinkie II led for much of Accuracy, but a late miss proved costly as Vincent swooped in for the 2-3 win to take the series 5-4. Vincent prevailed in the Pearl Bowl this year.

UPS Hall, Maplewood: Strawberry v. Nightfur. The purple cue draws in for Enterprise versus Brute Force. Zenith's Nightfur committed a foul rather early in 7-ball, and Victoria's Strawberry soon followed up with a 3-7 combination to the top right for the win and 1-0 series lead. In 8-ball, the Spurs' Strawberry enjoyed a solid start, but the Skywatchers' Nightfur stayed close and took the win right at the end to tie the series 1. Strawberry again started well in 9-ball, but Nightfur's confidence took another step up as she made a five-ball run-out for the win and 2-1 series lead. Strawberry had a little more offense in 10-ball, only for Nightfur to finish it off with a four-ball run-out for the win and 3-1 series lead. Nightfur didn't get much of a chance in 12-ball, as Strawberry made a four-ball run off the break and quickly added the final pair to take this win. Nightfur's series lead slip to 3-2. Nightfur had more time to play in 13-ball, but her positioning let her down. Strawberry worked her way to a three-ball run-out for the win that tied the series at 3. Strawberry couldn't get anything going in Rotation, allowing Nightfur to build slowly and then finish with a four-ball run-out for an 8-2 win. Nightfur regained the series lead at 4-3. Nightfur continued to play well in 15-ball, finishing off with a five-ball run-out to secure the series at 5-3 as Strawberry came up short. Nightfur added one more for the road, taking Accuracy by a 1-3 score to beat Strawberry 6-3 in the Maplewood Bowl.

Sony Center, Queens: Fuchsia v. Kiwi. Outcast and Enterprise send representatives to battle with the green cue. Infinity's Fuchsia weathered a four-ball run from Terrace City's Kiwi in 7-ball. Kiwi ended her run on a scratch, and Fuchsia made the final pair for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Torpedoes' Fuchsia showed too much impatience in 8-ball, trying to force a play that ended with the 8 going down early to gift a win to the Knights' Kiwi, who tied the series at 1 without much effort. Fuchsia bounced back fine in 9-ball, taking a three-ball run-out to defeat a listless performance from Kiwi. Fuchsia retook the series lead at 2-1. Kiwi played well with positioning in 10-ball, allowing her to again pull even in the series after Fuchsia dropped her pace. The series is tied at 2. Fuchsia made a three-ball run off the break in 12-ball, but Kiwi ran the table on her first turn to grab the win and a 3-2 series lead. In 13-ball, Fuchsia rebounded with pace on offense. Kiwi had a chance to strike back but couldn't ignite the run before Fuchsia made her final pair for the win to retie the series at 3. Fuchsia reestablished herself in Rotation, taking the early lead and keeping it for an 8-2 win to pull ahead of Kiwi 4-3 in the series. Fuchsia kept her offense exciting and creative in 15-ball, and she had more of the possession than Kiwi to claim a win. Fuchsia sealed the series at 5-3 with this result. Fuchsia and Kiwi played to a 1-1 tie in Accuracy, so Fuchsia settled for a 5-3-1 result in the Queens Bowl.

Samsung Arena, Whitewater: Briana v. Chris. The Humanity Championship ends the day with the red cue. Queens' Briana wasted no time in 7-ball, taking a 1-0 series lead as she deposited the 7 to the top right on the break. The Flames' Briana saw Capital City's Chris take control early in 8-ball. Chris came close to a win, but Briana stormed all the way back with an eight-ball run-out for the win to go ahead 2-0. Briana looked threatening even with less offense in 9-ball, but she missed on the 9 and the Sharpshooters' Chris banked it to the top right for the win. Briana's series lead is still 2-1. Briana had some dangerous shots in 10-ball, but Chris looked better late on a four-ball run. He rattled the 10 out of the bottom left, and Briana sank it to the bottom right for the win and 3-1 series lead. Briana made an ill-informed shot choice at the end of 12-ball, gifting a well-earned win to Chris, who pulled back to a 3-2 deficit in the series thanks to his defensive play. Briana shot back with a confident start and stylish finish in 13-ball, banking the 8 to the top right for the win to pull ahead 4-2 over Chris. In Rotation, Chris nearly received a gift at the end, but he miscued and Briana tapped down the winning shot for an 8-7 win to clinch the series at 5-2. Chris got one back with a pair to close out 15-ball despite Briana's firm offense earlier on. Briana remains ahead 5-3 in the series. In Accuracy, both players had chances to control play before ending in a 3-3 tie. Briana took the Humanity Championship in Whitewater by a 5-3-1 score.

UPCL Bowl Series 2021 - Day 3

We're back from a fatigue break. We'll jump back in with five bowls today, beginning with...

Starbucks Arena, Archtown: Precious v. Bells. The purple cue's lone series today is in this battle between Enterprise and Oriental United. Pronger's Precious needed a couple of turns to take control in 7-ball, doing so by making six of the seven balls to beat Zenith's Bells. Precious leads the series 1-0. The Skywatchers' Bells had a five-ball run in 8-ball, but she scratched and failed to support it with any additional offense. The Tridents' Precious roared back for the win to go up 2-0 in the series. Bells looked a little better in 9-ball, but she couldn't finish off the effort. Precious made the final pair for the win and 3-0 series lead, with Bells growing more frustrated as the series progresses. Precious didn't have the right touch at the end of 10-ball, allowing Bells to get on the board with a pair of shots. Precious remains ahead 3-1 in the series. Precious did her part in 12-ball, attacking well early and late to defeat Bells, who couldn't sort out the positioning later in the game. Precious' series lead is up to 4-1. Precious was on the brink of clinching the series, but Bells pulled off a remarkable five-ball run-out in 13-ball to stay alive. Her deficit is 4-2. Precious put the series to rest in Rotation, starting with a pair on the break. Bells didn't have much precision as Precious won 8-2 to seal the series at 5-2. Bells pushed late in 15-ball with a four-ball run, but Precious made the final pair for another win and the 6-2 series lead. Precious got sneaky in Accuracy, leaving Bells with nothing later in the game. Precious won 2-3 and took the series 7-2 for a dominant Archtown Bowl win.

AT&T Hall, Oceanside: Roxy v. Snuggle. Former Waves return to their old home to battle Forest SC and Prime with the silver cue. Southridge's Roxy had trouble connecting on her shots. Harrison's Snuggle wasn't much better, but he finished off the 7-ball game with a win for the 1-0 series lead. The Defenders' Roxy made one of each suit on the break in 8-ball, and she chose to play solids. The Specters' Snuggle did more damage on stripes and cruised to the win, going ahead 2-0 in the series. Roxy tried to play a little smarter in 9-ball, but Snuggle also made adjustments with positional play to lead the way on offense. Snuggle won with a three-ball run-out to extend his series lead to 3-0. In 10-ball, Roxy had her looks, but she illegally potted the 7 to the top left on a failed cut play. Snuggle took the possession and made the 4-10 combination to the bottom left for the win to move up to a 4-0 series lead. Roxy made a solid on the break in 12-ball and built off of that well. Snuggle's offense was stymied, and Roxy won on a three-ball run-out to cut the deficit to 4-1. In 13-ball, Snuggle put up much more of a fight, but Roxy still found the finishing play at the bottom left. Snuggle's series lead is down to 4-2. Roxy didn't have the same level of fight in Rotation, with Snuggle easily blasting past her for an 8-4 win to clinch the series at 5-2. Roxy put in a stunner in 15-ball, getting the 15 to drift in the top side off the break for an instant win to cut Snuggle's series lead down to 5-3. Roxy played excellently in Accuracy, but Snuggle stayed perfect for a 0-1 win to finish off a 6-3 series win in the Oceanside Bowl.

FedEx Arena, Eastside: Taylor M. v. Spice. A captains' battle in Eastside sees the host in her home venue as Songstresses meet Reality with the silver cue. Eastside's Taylor M. was explosive at the start of 7-ball but couldn't finish it off. Victoria's Spice won with a four-ball run-out for the 1-0 series lead. The Sharks' Taylor M. was back in form for 8-ball, making a four-ball run off the break and adding a four-ball run-out later after a scratch set her back. The Spurs' Spice had no answer as Taylor M. tied the series at 1. Taylor M. continued to play aggressive, but she hit a little too hard to end a four-ball run with a miss on the 9 in 9-ball. Spice cleaned up at the top right for the win, restoring her series lead at 2-1. Both players missed their first look at the 10 in a tight 10-ball battle, but Taylor M. jammed it home at the bottom side on a firm bank, erasing Spice's lead again as the series goes tied at 2-2. In 12-ball, Taylor M. used her slower pace on offense to provide good coverage on defense. Spice couldn't break through, and Taylor M. made a pair at the end for the win to go up 3-2 in the series. Taylor M. eased up a bit in 13-ball, playing cautious as Spice pressured late. Spice couldn't spark a late run, and Taylor M. grabbed the win for a 4-2 series lead. Spice put in a good effort early in Rotation, but Taylor M. worked a comeback for an 8-5 win to secure the series at 5-2. Taylor M. put in a solid performance, but Spice nailed a 5-15 combination to the top side to win 15-ball and cut the deficit to 5-3. Taylor M. slipped again in Accuracy, scratching on the break and never recovering. Spice took the 2-4 result, while Taylor M. prevailed in front of her home fans by a 5-4 series win to lift the Eastside Bowl.

Subway Arena, Stonebridge: Ms. Kitty v. Shaggy. Former teammates meet with the red cue as Prime clashes with Solid Core. Both players proved somewhat dangerous in 7-ball, but it was Whitewater's Shaggy who made the final pair for the win and 1-0 series lead over Pacific's Ms. Kitty. The Volcanoes' Ms. Kitty turned to crafty play to generate a four-ball run-out in 8-ball, taking the win over the Shores' Shaggy to tie the series at 1. Ms. Kitty took to the jump shot to spark a five-ball run-out in 9-ball, sinking the 2 to the top left as she rallied ahead of Shaggy by a 2-1 score in the series. Ms. Kitty continued to own the offense in 10-ball, but she let it slip away at the end with a miss on the 10. Shaggy converted at the bottom left for the win to retie the series at 2. Ms. Kitty and Shaggy both missed late kick attempts in 12-ball as neither wanted to give up too much positioning. Shaggy missed contact on hers, and Ms. Kitty grabbed the win to restore her series lead at 3-2. Shaggy took a massive lead in 13-ball, only to turn a positional play into a loss as she sank the 8 prematurely. Ms. Kitty took the gifted win to pull out to a 4-2 series lead. Ms. Kitty was relentless in Rotation early on, but Shaggy turned it around suddenly with a vicious six-ball run. Shaggy won 8-5 on the next turn to cut Ms. Kitty's series lead down to 4-3. Shaggy couldn't complete a late surge in 15-ball, falling as Ms. Kitty took the last three balls for the 5-3 series win. Ms. Kitty didn't push too hard in Accuracy, allowing Shaggy to claim a 1-2 win in the finale. Ms. Kitty took the Stonebridge Bowl by a 5-4 margin.

Toyota Arena, Freedom: Princess v. Rosemary. Today's action ends with Brute Force against Youth Movement with the green cue. Viewpoint Sound's Princess battled a little harder in 7-ball, beating Commerce's Rosemary with a snipe on the 7 to the top left. Princess holds a 1-0 series lead. The Tradewinds' Rosemary weathered a lot of offense from the Meteors' Princess in 8-ball, then struck back on a four-ball run-out for the win. The series is tied at 1. Rosemary nearly had a taste of the series lead in 9-ball, but her four-ball run ended with a miss on the 9 at the top left. Princess tapped it down to steal the win and 2-1 series lead. Princess couldn't get a grip late in 10-ball, as Rosemary had an 8-10 combination considered foul for an uncalled pocket. She struck back at the end for the 10 at the top left to earn the win, tying the series at 2. In 12-ball, Princess did her work early and late, fending off a comeback push from Rosemary near the end. Princess showed some mental toughness to take a 3-2 series lead. Princess couldn't add to her lead in 13-ball, as Rosemary grabbed control early and kicked the 8 into the top side for another win. The series is tied at 3. Princess took momentum back in Rotation, crushing Rosemary with a 9-1 win to regain the series lead at 4-3. Rosemary provided one more response in 15-ball, deflecting off the 8 perfectly to sink the 15 at the top left for the win, pulling even with Princess at 4-4 in the series. Rosemary finally grabbed the lead with a 1-4 win Accuracy, taking the Freedom Bowl in an upset by a 5-4 score.

UPCL Bowl Series 2021 - Day 2

We're back for more bowls today. First up...

HP Field Events Center, Midland: Lily v. Misty. The blue cue administers a battle between Enterprise and Solid Core. Eastside's Lily didn't find much success in 7-ball, and Westside's Misty likewise struggled until an angry shot on the 6 led to the 7 falling in the bottom side. Misty leads the series 1-0. The Sharks' Lilt struggled again early in 8-ball, but she found a four-ball run later. The Rockers' Misty fired back with a four-ball run, but the last shot deflected off the 8 illegally, and Lily made a pair to earn the win. The series is tied at 1. Lily looked solid with a three-ball run early in 9-ball, but a scratch allowed Misty to fire back on a five-ball run-out for the win and 2-1 series lead. Lily made the 10 on the break in 10-ball, forcing it to be respotted. A battle ensued the rest of the way, and Lily narrowly missed the 10 at the bottom left, where Misty tapped it down to go ahead 3-1 in the series. Misty had a massive lead in 12-ball with a four-ball run early on, but she couldn't corral the left corners. Lily worked her way back in slowly, taking a win to pull within a 3-2 deficit in the series. Misty again faltered in 13-ball, unable to attack well at the end. Lily once again pulled off a small push at the end to grab the win, tying the series at 3. In Rotation, a close battle early on turned into an easy win for Lily, who took an 8-2 result after too many errors from Misty. Lily leads 4-3 in the series. Lily couldn't finish off 15-ball, with Misty rallying to save her series on a four-ball run-out that tied the series at 4. Lily stumbled again early in Accuracy, and Misty didn't let her back in after that. Misty took a 1-2 win and won the series 5-4 to earn the Midland Bowl.

Ford Forum, Pronger: Valencia v. Bucco. The purple cue is on for this Youth Movement versus Forest SC series. Golden's Valencia wasted no time in grabbing a 1-0 series lead, running the table in 7-ball to prevent Harrison's Bucco from taking a shot. In 8-ball, the Specters' Bucco struck first, but the Pilots' Valencia was more efficient after that. Valencia picked up another win for the 2-0 series lead. Valencia got a little lucky to open 9-ball with a five-ball run, but she finished strong with a three-ball run-out after Bucco couldn't put up much of a fight. Valencia's series lead is up to 3-0. Valencia continued to chunk offense at will, but her five-ball run this time came up short with a scratch on the 10. Bucco got on the board from ball-in-hand, cutting Valencia's series lead to 3-1. Bucco tried to play a defensive style in 12-ball after Valencia quickly grabbed the lead. It didn't work, as Valencia's patience allowed her to strike for the win to go ahead 4-1 in the series. Valencia couldn't lock it down in 13-ball, missing at the top side to allow Bucco to make a pair for the win. Valencia remains ahead 4-2. Bucco looked good early in Rotation, mixing offense and defense effectively. Valencia broke it down at the end with an eight-ball run-out for the 8-5 win to clinch the series at 5-2. Valencia found another burst to finish off 15-ball with a five-ball run-out after more decent work from Bucco. Valencia pushed her advantage to 6-2 overall. Valencia continued to dominate in Accuracy, earning a 2-5 win after a late fade to finish a 7-2 win over the Pronger Bowl over Bucco.

Volkswagen BeetleDome, Viewpoint Sound: Kelsea v. Ellie. Sharpshooters teammates put on a showcase for the Songstresses Championship with the red cue. In 7-ball, it was Kelsea who established offense early and then won with a three-ball run-out to take the 1-0 series lead over Ellie. In 8-ball, Ellie took control in the middle, but Kelsea bounced back after struggling from making a pair on the break. Kelsea finished with a three-ball run-out for the win to push her series lead to 2-0. Ellie looked good with a three-ball run in 9-ball, but she couldn't get a deflection off the 3 to hit the 9. Kelsea won on a three-ball run-out, converting with a deflection off the 7 to put the 9 in the top left. Kelsea's series lead is up to 3-0. Ellie continued to show improvement in 10-ball, but she wasn't able to cut the 10 to the top left in a close battle. Kelsea finished it off and stretched her series lead to 4-0. Kelsea had a good attack in 12-ball, but Ellie defended late and picked up the win with a couple of savvy moves. Kelsea remains ahead 4-1 in the series. In 13-ball, Kelsea had her chances on offense, but a late scratch allowed Ellie to get another win with a pair of shots. Kelsea's lead is down to 4-2. Ellie had some moments on offense in Rotation, but Kelsea blocked her out with a four-ball run-out for the 8-3 win to seal the series at 5-2. Ellie made five of the last six balls in 15-ball to earn the win, pulling back to a 5-3 deficit versus Kelsea overall. The end result in Accuracy was a 3-3 tie as Kelsea didn't press for a win at the end. Kelsea took the series 5-3-1 to claim the Songstresses' club championship match.

Adidas Arena, Graycliff: Yekaterina v. Andrew. The Humanity Showcase match welcomes Graycliff to the league with the green cue. Victoria's Yekaterina didn't have the most confident play in 7-ball, but she was able to eventually make the 7 at the top left after Freedom's Andrew kept it on the table. Yekaterina holds a 1-0 series lead. In 8-ball, the Spurs' Yekaterina rallied from far back to get onto the 8, only for the Cascades' Andrew to pot the final pair of shots for the win. The series is tied at 1. Yekaterina took the series lead right back in 9-ball, making the 9 to the bottom left on the break to go up 2-1 over Andrew. In 10-ball, Yekaterina couldn't get her late plays just right. Andrew was able to deflect off the 7 to push the 10 to the top side for the win, retying the series at 2. Yekaterina looked solid early in 12-ball, but her positioning didn't work out. Andrew charged back on a four-ball run-out at the end, giving himself the series lead for the first time at 3-2. Yekaterina wouldn't go down quietly in 13-ball, instead fighting back for positioning to earn the win and pull even with Andrew at 3 games each in the series. Yekaterina had a massive lead in Rotation but couldn't bring it home, allowing Andrew to rally from six points down to an 8-7 win for the 4-3 series lead. In 15-ball, Andrew had some moments on offense, but Yekaterina's consistent pace allowed her to earn the win to tie the series once more at 4-4. Andrew took Accuracy in a romp, winning 2-5 in the game and 5-4 in the series over Yekaterina to welcome Graycliff to the league.

UPCL Bowl Series 2021 - Day 1

We're ready to begin an 8-to-10 day showcase of club battles. It's the start of the UPCL Bowl Series, which leads off today with...

Microsoft Center, Del Sur: Mams v. Goatee. The designated host returns to an old home in this Oriental United versus Prime battle with the purple cue. Swordpoint's Mams took the win in 7-ball on the break, pinching the 7 into the top right for an instant win and 1-0 series lead over Westside's Goatee. The Blades' Mams had a rough start to 8-ball, but the Rockers' Goatee didn't take long to capitalize on it. Goatee took a gamble and won with a three-ball run-out to tie the series at 1. Goatee struck quickly in 9-ball after Mams posted an empty break. Goatee spun around the 5 to make a 1-2-9 combination to the top left for the 2-1 series lead. Mams made a stunning double-pot in 10-ball, earning the win with a cut on the 5 to the top left that caromed to send the 10 there as well. Goatee applauded the play as the series went tied again at 2. Goatee played from behind for part of 12-ball, but Mams stalled out as Goatee defended well. Goatee then made her final pair to the side pockets for the win and 3-2 series lead. Mams had a decent showing in 13-ball, but her last ball wouldn't line up at the bottom side. Goatee charged in the middle and got the win to pull ahead 4-2 in the series. Mams kept herself in the series with a four-ball run-out in Rotation, earning a firm 8-3 win over Goatee, whose series lead was trimmed to 4-3. In 15-ball, Mams had some attacks, but it was a fairly even battle. Mams couldn't get the 15 down late, and Goatee put it away at the bottom right to clinch the series at 5-3. Mams couldn't fight back in Accuracy, and she took a 1-3 loss as Goatee was sharp until the final ball. Goatee won the series 6-3 to claim the Southern Bowl.

Gillette Center, Swordpoint: Potter v. Dominic. Outcast and Brute Force members clash with the green cue. Pronger's Potter took a couple of turns to get going, but he won with a four-ball run-out in 7-ball after Southern's Dominic didn't do much. The Monarchs' Dominic had some offense in 8-ball, but he was too shaky in attack. The Tridents' Potter showed more confidence and finished off with a short run to take a 2-0 series lead. Potter continued to get the better of the offense against Dominic, who struggled to make shots in 9-ball. Potter handled things with a late three-ball run-out for the win and 3-0 series lead. Dominic got on the board in 10-ball, controlling play on a four-ball run and adding an 8-10 combination to the top left when Potter couldn't battle back late. Potter remains ahead 3-1 in the series. Dominic had a late surge with a three-ball run in 12-ball, but Potter held on just enough to make sure his early four-ball run didn't go to waste. Potter leads the series 4-1. Potter didn't get a great break for 13-ball, and Dominic capitalized on that later with a four-ball run-out for the win. Dominic is still trailing 4-2 in the series. Potter took the early lead in Rotation, but it didn't hold up. Dominic charged late and took an 8-6 win to cut Potter's series lead down to 4-3. Potter again failed to close things out in 15-ball, taking too long before Dominic struck a three-ball run-out at the end to tie the series at 4. Dominic had the lead in Accuracy, but a late skid ruined his chances. Potter held on for a 3-4 win and took the series 5-4 to win the Swordpoint Bowl.

Apple Center, Todavía: Chimpy v. Citrus. The southwestern tour continues with Oriental United and Solid Core clashing with the blue cue. Westside's Chimpy had the better of play in 7-ball, but he couldn't make the 7. Lighton's Citrus poached the win with a tap-in at the top right for a 1-0 series lead. The Rockers' Chimpy allowed a lot of offense by the Prestige's Citrus in 8-ball. Chimpy reversed course just in time, winning on a seven-ball run-out to tie the series at 1. Citrus bounced back after her long run in 9-ball ended early. Chimpy stumbled a bit with possession, and Citrus made a pair for the win regain the series lead at 2-1. Chimpy again faltered with his chances on offense in 10-ball, and Citrus cashed in with a 9-10 combination to the bottom left. Citrus leads the series 3-1. In 12-ball, the hope for a quick battle was dashed when both players defended the bottom side hard. Citrus eventually broke through at the end to win on a kick of the 6, while Chimpy wasn't able to execute his final run. Citrus' series lead is up to 4-1. In 13-ball, Chimpy took a significant lead and still couldn't finish it off. A late error for missed contact allowed Citrus to make a five-ball run-out for the win, securing the series at 5-1. In Rotation, early errors wasted some chances for Chimpy. Citrus pulled ahead and grabbed an 8-6 win to push her series lead to 6-1. In 15-ball, Chimpy's break left a cluster near the rack, while Citrus eventually navigated her way to a three-ball run-out for a win and 7-1 series lead. In Accuracy, Chimpy nearly kept things perfect, but a late miss allowed Citrus to grab a 0-1 win. Citrus finished the Todavía Bowl with an 8-1 series win.

Amazon Field Exhibition Hall, Golden: Charli v. Luigi. The Songstresses' rivalry match with the Guild of Acting also uses the blue cue. Tysini's Charli set the tone in 7-ball, making a three-ball run off the break and a four-ball run-out after that when Commerce's Luigi failed to counterattack. Charli leads the series 1-0. The Hummingbirds' Charli was a little too slow from the start in 8-ball, and her late three-ball run didn't save her. The Tradewinds' Luigi fended Charli off to get the win, tying the series at 1. In 9-ball, the offense swung back to Charli, as she made a three-ball run-out once it was clear Luigi wasn't going to settle his play down. Charli looked confident in 10-ball, but she didn't finish this game. Luigi grabbed the final pair to retie the series at 2 in a close battle so far. Charli got a little too aggressive on her positioning in 12-ball, and she accidentally potted Luigi's last ball to gift away the win. Luigi pulled ahead 3-2 in the series. Charli showed exceptional resilience in 13-ball, as Luigi quickly got onto the 8 but couldn't quite corral it. Charli got the win with a three-ball run-out for the comeback to tie the series at 3. In Rotation, Luigi had a solid start. Charli then found a groove to take the lead, and she ran away with it for an 8-2 win and 4-3 series lead. Luigi had a foul in 15-ball after missing contact on the 5. Charli stepped up with a clutch 5-15 combination to the bottom left, her win securing the series in her favor at 5-3. Charli showed no mercy in Accuracy, locking in for a 1-4 win over Luigi to finish with a 6-3 series win. Charli claimed the Golden Bowl title this year. 

Audi Hall, Terrace City: Greg v. Mario. The silver cue will end today's action with a battle between Humanity and the Guild of Acting. Archtown's Greg had a positive start in 7-ball, making a four-ball run and adding a pair after Queens' Mario scratched late. Greg leads the series 1-0. In 8-ball, the Arrows' Greg struck first and looked solid on offense, but the Flames' Mario bounced back late. Mario collected a three-ball run-out for the win to tie the series at 1. Greg had an empty break in 9-ball, and Mario exploited that for a 1-2-4-9 bank combination to the bottom right on his first and only shot. Mario leads the series 2-1 after that miracle play worked. Greg put in a little more work in 10-ball, but he wasn't able to get his attack back on track. Mario shut him down late and won with a pair of shots to take a 3-1 series lead. Greg made a stripe on the break in 12-ball, but solids ended up being the better suit. Mario had little trouble carving up the rack in just a few turns to get the win and 4-1 series lead. Greg did everything he could in 13-ball to keep himself in the series, but he missed on the 8, and Mario made the final pair for the win. Mario's surge has him ahead 5-1, clinching the series. Greg got one back in Rotation, battling from behind as Mario took the early lead but couldn't finish it off this time. Greg's 8-7 win cut the series deficit down to 5-2. Greg took another win in 15-ball, cutting the 9 to the top left with a deflection that collected the 15 in the bottom side. Mario's series lead is down to 5-3. Greg collected one more win in Accuracy, taking a 1-3 result over Mario to make the series look closer than it was. Mario won the Terrace City Bowl 5-4. 

This is just the first day of the Bowl Series. We'll continue throughout the next week or so.
