UPCL Cricket: Week 4 Part 3

Here's the last segment of the week, coming in just under the wire. First up...

Microsoft Pitch at Del Sur: These two teams meet again after a Monarchs victory in Viewpoint Sound last week. Mr. Snowman had a strong start for Viewpoint Sound before fading, ending at 361. Panda pounded out 795 in response for Southern. Mams finally found her road game, lining 474 to give the Meteors a fighting chance again. Shannon launched 660 for the Monarchs, adding onto their lead very effectively. Zach smacked 192 for Viewpoint Sound, failing to cover the deficit. Kirstin didn't do any better, taking a meager 33 in another poor individual effort at home for Southern. Kelly ripped 643 for the Meteors, giving them a final of 1670 and forcing a response from the hosts. Nicole overcame a slow start for the Monarchs, tallying 550 to give them a win with 2038, their first home victory of the season. Southern claims the season series and goes to 3-8, while Viewpoint Sound drops to 2-4.

GE Stadium, Southridge: Two big-city Center Division rivals lock horns for the first time this season. Modernistic got off to a poor start when Juno took only 111. Boots dominated with 891 for Southridge, taking full control of the game early on. Ms. Puppy pummeled 869 in response for the Union, keeping them alive in a high-octane game. Debby kept the Defenders in front with 162, but the lead is much less significant now. Chimpy doubled down for Modernistic, crushing 866 in the high-flying game. J. Garcia kept Southridge close with 770, bringing the game down to the wire. Puff I asserted the Union one more time, blasting 899 to give them 2745 total. Shaggy faltered with 72 for the Defenders, giving them only 1895 in the loss. Modernistic proved the more resilient team, jumping to 4-3 while pushing their division rival to 2-7.

Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint: Southridge faces a doubleheader situation, but Boots got them going well with 599. Snowball got overwhelmed at 133 for Swordpoint, a poor showing again for the captain. Debby clobbered 478 for the Defenders, extending their lead. Dreamy rallied for 655 for the Blades, giving them a chance to stay alive. J. Garcia left Southridge a bit vulnerable, as her backhand flip had a little too much power, giving her team just 215 points. Shawn covered some of the deficit, grabbed 337 to pull Swordpoint closer late in the game. The Defenders had more issues late in the game, with Shaggy's 113 giving them a final of 1405, definitely within range. Stealth slapped 328 for the Blades, leading them to victory at 1453. Swordpoint lost quite a bit of fingernail length in this one, but they are still perfect at home and 5-2 overall, while Southridge's nightmare continues to 2-8.

Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: Patches didn't get this Center Division battle off to a great start, taking only 224 for Boston in a weak opener. Kiwi smacked 580 for Terrace City, giving them the moderate lead. Puff II remains mired in a road slump, taking only 96 for the Swifts this game. Jennifer added 600 more for the Knights, keeping the offense at an elite level. Gradley fired back with 397 for Boston, a strong response that doesn't have a lot backing it up from his team. Oreo let Terrace City slide a bit, scoring just 112. Sweetheart managed 289 for the Swifts, but they took the loss with 1006 overall. Stripes demolished 837 for the Knights at the end, giving them a total of 2129 in the win. Terrace City gets another division win in going to 5-0, while Boston continues to feel the pain of an early-season pinch in dropping to 5-5.

Apple Park, Todavía: Sticking with the theme tonight, we have a West Division battle between teams on the opposite ends of the standings. Spice had to bring her turn to an end with 836 for Victoria, but she set a high standard for the visitors. Easter got 270 of it back for Todavía, a small dent in the deficit. B. Chapman let the Spurs slip a bit, taking just 202 in a poor showing. Sierra couldn't take advantage of the opportunity, pulling just 211 for the Stills. Yekaterina knocked 243 for Victoria, keeping the pace lethargic as the game moves along. Leonardo had 232 for Todavía, as they lose a little bit of ground late in the game. Kavan popped 216 to give the Spurs a final of 1497. Sparkles attempted a comeback, but her 359 did not cut the mustard for the Stills, and they lost with 1072. Victoria's big upset win puts them at 2-8, with a critical division win, while Todavía drops to 6-4.

Cisco Tysini Field, Tysini: Strawberry dropped her backhand attempt to quickly, and the ball slid into the stumps, ending her turn at 110 for a weak Pronger start. Princess had an uncharacteristically weak effort, hitting only 108 for Tysini as the game remains close early on. Hoot swatted 458 for the Tridents to give them a decent lead. Leandra sliced 458 for the Hummingbirds as well, as the game begins to be uncomfortably close for both teams. Precious grabbed 237 for Pronger, which probably isn't strong enough to be confident in. Charli had 426 to put Tysini in the lead, albeit not a very large one. Paps' 266 for the Tridents put them at 1071, forcing a response from the hosts. Bright stepped up with 233 for the Hummingbirds, giving them 1225 in the win. Tysini still looks like the real deal, with a perfect home record pacing their 7-1 mark, while Pronger is down to 3-5. Tysini swept the season series as well.

Sprint Pitch, Victoria: Valencia grabbed 526 right off the bat for Golden, giving them a decent start. Spice sawed off 194 for Victoria, failing to corral some wild swings that eventually ended her turn. Dusty tacked on another 451 for the Pilots in a very solid showing for the veteran. B. Chapman replied with 327 for the Spurs, allowing them to fall a bit farther behind. Strut belted 845 for Golden, extending their lead and maintaining his recent road hot streak. Yekaterina kept Victoria in range with 759, a very solid score for the inconsistent rookie. A. Charlton's 162 put the Pilots at the Orwellian score of 1984. Kavan couldn't get the Spurs back in the game, faltering with 41 as they lost with 1321. Golden is now at 4-5, looking much more in form, while Victoria's progress is halted at 2-9.

Volkswagen Stadium, Viewpoint Sound: Patches put up a respectable 487 for Boston, and it could have been more had she not suffered a bad bounce. Mr. Snowman took only 96 for Viewpoint Sound, trying a little too hard in his turn. Puff II is still struggling, but she put up 152 for the Swifts in this match. Mams scored 312 for the Meteors, closing the gap a bit. Gradley chipped 225 for Boston, doing little to help their efforts. Zach worked well with the bat in a challenging start, but when the pressure subsided, he faltered at 113 for Viewpoint Sound. Sweetheart wrangled 319 for the Swifts, giving them a final of 1183. Kelly did no good for the Meteors, with her 51 causing them to take a loss with 572. Boston gets back on track again at 6-5, while Viewpoint Sound is now 2-5.

Home Depot Forum, Web City: Two of the fiercest territorial rivals go to battle for the first time this season in the northeast. Slinks led off with a weak 178 for Harrison, digging them an early hole in all likelihood. Shadow didn't want me to be correct, so he hit just 60 for Web City, giving them the early deficit. Twinkie II belted 570 for the Specters, extending their lead. Rainmane knocked 665 for the Spiders, mixing things up at the halfway point. Sydney fired 395 for Harrison, throwing a stiff-arm out to protect the lead. Sugar let Web City slip a little farther behind, wrangling in 384 heading into the final players. Brownie pounded 567 for the Specters, giving them a final score of 1710. Shiny produced just 129 for the Spiders, as they took the loss with 1238. Harrison remains a formidable opponent at 7-5, while pushing their rivals to 2-4.

BMW RockDome: The Spiders immediately head a short distance west for their doubleheader. Shadow couldn't corral two high bouncing balls in rapid succession, scoring a meager 120 for Web City. Misty failed to take advantage for Westside, scoring a weak 51 points. Rainmane tacked on 320 for the Spiders. Goatee performed admirably for the Rockers, lining 511 to forcibly pull them into the lead. Sugar stumbled to 112 for Web City, failing to cover the entire gap. Midnight chopped 256 for Westside, growing the lead slightly in an average effort. Shiny remained ineffective for the Spiders, scoring a measly 96 as they took a loss with 648 total. Chicky Phil kept it simple with 247 for the Rockers, giving them a victorious final score of 1065. Westside goes to 2-4, passing the now 2-5 Web City.

Samsung Whitewater Stadium, Whitewater: Panda got jammed at 311 for Southern, a decent start to the final game of the week. Bear couldn't settle down very well, taking only 176 for Whitewater. Shannon drilled 799 for the Monarchs, building up their lead very well. Twinkie III fired back with 486 for the Shores in a decent response. Kirstin may have left the door open, posting just 179 for Southern in a modest effort. Cheddar failed to cut down the deficit, producing 171 for Whitewater in a punchless turn. Nicole poked 455 for the Monarchs, giving them a final score of 1744. Wild Thing attempted a rally for the Shores, but his 521 still left the hosts short at 1354. Southern, surprisingly, ends the long Whitewater home win streak, with the Monarchs jumping to 4-8 while the Shores are at 3-6.

Standings update is coming right up.
