UPCL Cricket: Week 30 Part 2

We're back, and the first match of this segment will be returned in the third match, as we start with...

Mercedes-Benz Forum, Harrison: The implications of a Prestige sweep: they clinch, and the Specters would be mathematically eliminated. Anything else leaves room for doubt on both counts. Acorn wasted no time in establishing a Lighton lead with his big 859. Slinks had only 160 in response for a straggling Harrison side. Spirit didn't help the cause for the Prestige with a pathetic 57. Twinkie II made only a minimal gain with 81 for the Specters, giving them little hope. Twinkie I gambled and lost, but was on house money as she ended with 742 to pad the Lighton lead nicely. Sydney narrowed the gap a bit with 968 for Harrison, as she makes a personal last push for the Rookie of the Year award. Lydia launched another 634 as the Prestige wrap up with 2292 in what should be a win. Brownie's 33 was another dud as the Specters fell with 1242. Lighton is halfway to that sweep and will try to finish it in the game after the next one, but they stand at 33-25, while Harrison is 22-35 on the verge of being eliminated.

Nissan Infinity Stadium, Infinity: The interim match features two talented West Division teams, with the Hummingbirds trying to sweep a much tougher Torpedoes side. Princess sliced 478 for Tysini to start things well. Smudge shot back with 736 for Infinity, giving them the early lead. Leandra answered with 671 to regain a lead for the Hummingbirds in this tough battle. Shelley had a bad hit and stalled at 364, and the Torpedoes are now slightly behind. Charli raked in 391 to extend the Tysini lead pretty well. Gabe did what he needed to with 543, giving Infinity the lead back with a player each to go. Bright pummeled 1084 in a clutch effort, giving the Hummingbirds a high final of 2624. Whiskers proved even more clutch with 1491 for the Torpedoes, and they stole the game at 3134. Whiskers was so clutch, you could call her a handbag in this one. Infinity's streak stretches to 17 wins in a row with this thriller, improving to 37-23, tying the Volcanoes and sitting two games back of the West Division lead, while Tysini fell to 37-22, allowing the Blades to get some separation in the crazy division finish that sees the four above-mentioned teams in a late fight for position.

Pepsi Prestige Park, Lighton: After the thrilling hold-over game, we're back with the Prestige trying to clinch and the Specters holding on by their fingertips. Slinks had a better start with 359 for Harrison, but she had a poorly-timed swing to end her turn. Acorn stumbled with 112 for Lighton. Twinkie II added 310 for the Specters as they maintain a lead. Spirit cut into the deficit with 439 for the Prestige. Sydney left Harrison vulnerable with 131 on her turn, and this game is proving a bit tighter than their earlier meeting. Twinkie I barreled through the deficit, giving Lighton the lead as she hit 439. Brownie had no reply with 21 for the Specters, giving them the loss with 821. Lydia left no doubt as her 536 put the Prestige at 1526 in their win. Lighton has clinched on a record of 34-25, while Harrison is out at 22-36.

UPS Ground, Maplewood: The Lumberjacks would be wise to earn a sweep of the Tradewinds, but their visitors are out for revenge. Tigerette slapped 854 for Commerce, putting a wet blanket on the hosts. Fluffina replied with 611 for Maplewood in a sharp outing. Ice Cream collapsed at 129, leaving the Tradewinds vulnerable with the faulty play. Bryant couldn't get his bat down after a backhand, and he had just 98 as the Lumberjacks flounder near the halfway mark. Lionel lined 520 for Commerce to boost their lead with. Diddley kept it close with 496 for Maplewood, but they need a game-changer in the last turn. Lorde had 308 for the Tradewinds, giving them 1811 total. Cubby tried to make himself known with 339 for the Lumberjacks, but they took the loss with 1544. Commerce gets their revenge to go to 43-17, while Maplewood takes a hit back to 29-29.

Google Pitch at Union Ground, Modernistic: These teams meet again next week, but neither match carries much value. Graham had only 225 for Eastside in a poor opener. Juno dribbled 193 for Modernistic, putting them slightly behind early on. Chelsea shot back with 394 for the Sharks, giving them a stronger second effort. Ms. Puppy answered with 314, and the Union are slipping halfway through the game. Taylor left the door open when she produced a weak 146 for Eastside, keeping the game low-scoring. Chimpy lost a minimal bit more of ground with his 140 for Modernistic, making it a somewhat close finish. Niki had a modest 224, putting the Sharks at 989 as their final. Puff I had weak contact and lost with 102, and the Union lost on a total of 749. Eastside's win is little solace for a team at 27-33, but it did snap a seven-game road losing streak and four-game losing streak overall, while Modernistic sees their skid hit eight games at 21-39.

AT&T Oceanside Stadium, Oceanside: The Waves have a chance to sweep, and doing so against a Division rival would help their playoff hopes a lot. Princess crushed 1135 for Tysini, not exactly a soft start. Snuggle picked up 314 for Oceanside, but they need better offense than that. Leandra didn't put the pressure on with her 249 for the Hummingbirds. Bells replied with 407, making a small dent in the deficit for the Waves. Charli shot back with 375 to keep the Tysini lead steady as the game progresses. Alyssa hit 258 for Oceanside, and they'll lose a bit more ground as the final players come to bat. Bright had a meager 49 for the Hummingbirds, putting them at 1808. Pounce proved solid with 361 for the Waves, but solid doesn't cut it, and they took the loss with 1340. Tysini gets back on track with their road play, going to 38-22, while Oceanside is 31-26, and they're starting to delve into dangerous areas.

Verizon Field, Pacific: The Waves head immediately to their neighbors, looking for vengeance in the Volcanoes' final West Division game. Snuggle chopped 512 for Oceanside in a strong appearance. Starlight narrowly put Pacific ahead, bouncing 513 on her turn, and things will be close early on. Bells had 267 for the Waves, a middling result. Ms. Kitty outpaced that with 355 for the Volcanoes, making the lead noticeable. Alyssa had 300 to cover the deficit for Oceanside, but she didn't pull away at all. Jack picked up 392 for Pacific, giving them a slightly larger lead in the late parts of the game. Pounce's 419 put the Waves at 1498, forcing a response from the hosts. Leonette did her part with 280, giving the Volcanoes a close win with 1540, their seventh straight home win. Pacific is 38-23, and their division mark ends at 13-7. Oceanside slips again to 31-27, and they need to right their ship quickly.

Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: The Surfers have a chance to sweep the Knights as they make a final push toward the playoffs. Kiwi struck 471 for Terrace City, giving them a solid lead. Her sister Watermelon couldn't cover it with 265 for Pearl. Jennifer shot back with 585 for the Knights, giving them a larger lead. Neopolitan got 434 back for the Surfers, but they are still noticeably behind halfway through the game. Oreo left the door open a crack, as she fumbled her way to 80 for Terrace City. Wings tapped 200 for Pearl in response, cutting into the deficit a little bit. Stripes batted 368 to give the Knights a final of 1504, which is uncertain to hold up. Cowzart came up short despite his solid 327, and the Surfers lost with 1226. Terrace City improves to 37-21, while Pearl drops to 32-27 after the disappointing game.

Tridents Park sponsored by Ford, Pronger: The Waves remain busy, but this represents a very good chance of getting closer to safety. Snuggle carved out 364 for Oceanside in a decent performance to start things off. Strawberry answered with 407 to give Pronger a slight lead as they try to play spoiler. Bells shot back with a poor 192 for the Waves, putting them in trouble yet again. Hoot capitalized on the chance, posting 423 for the Tridents to extend their lead. Alyssa failed to cover the deficit with 128 for Oceanside, and things are looking grim again for them. Precious stumbled with 98 for Pronger, potentially making them vulnerable. Pounce had 264 to put the Waves at 948, forcing a small response from the hosts. Paps went big with 504 for the Tridents, icing their win at 1432 in the process. Pronger is the latest to spoil things, going to 20-37, while Oceanside is 31-28 on their fourth straight road loss and fourth loss in a row overall.

Ebay Center, Queens: The Tradewinds look for a sweep in this Center Division game. Tigerette slugged 1013 for Commerce as part of her usual damage-dishing tendencies. Crystal answered with a reasonable 424 for Queens, making good use of her turn to limit damage. Ice Cream had another unusually bad outing, hitting a measly 54 for the Tradewinds this time out. Kayla pulled the Flames closer with her 361, cutting about half of the deficit away. Lionel tapped only 160 for Commerce, tempting fate in a way with the poor showing. Max failed to gain momentum with the cluttered pitch, ending with only 135 as Queens doesn't look threatening anymore. Lorde padded the Tradewinds lead with 376 herself, giving them a total of 1603. Paige picked up 328, but the Flames fell with 1248 in this battle. Commerce jumps to 44-17, and finished with a 12-8 Center Division record, while also just one win or Swifts loss away from clinching second overall. Queens is 24-37 after losing the league's 300th division game (unofficial count).

Kraft Crowns Park, Royal: Ending the segment, we have the Warriors looking for a sweep in their road finale against a bottom-dwelling team. Twilight had a terrible start with 24 for Central in a weak appearance. Frosty couldn't make much of answered with only 60 for Royal in a low-scoring start. Dustin shot back with 344 for the Warriors as they have a more respectable score now. Jake shot back with 758 for the Crowns against his former team, and the hosts hold a noticeable lead. Noelle tumbled with 46 for Central, and they appear set for a disappointing loss. Marsell tacked on another 637 for Royal, likely securing their lead with the strong effort. Gizmo made a rally with 774 for the Warriors, but they'll take a loss with 1188 and end their road slate on a record of 19-13. Nightfur's 241 put the Crowns at 1696 in a firm win. Royal is at 19-41, trying to avoid the late-charging Monarchs as the former holds 32nd overall, while Central drips to 36-26 on the year.

That's it for this segment. If we run a spate of late-night games, the week will end tonight, and more than likely tomorrow at the latest.
