Here it is, the beginning of the final week of this regular season. This week features fifteen divisional matches, with seven of those in this post alone as the final playoff spots with be shaken out.
Starbucks Cup, Archtown: This is an East Division match, which sees the Pirates try to keep their ascent going. Delila had a reasonable 300 for Atlantic to lead the game off. Sally answered with 439 to give Archtown the initial lead in their home finale. Amber had only 113 for the Pirates in a bit of a sloppy appearance. Sleepy B. went for 361 for the Arrows, boosting their lead halfway through the game. Americus couldn't produce anything meaningful for Atlantic, taking a paltry 16 as they appear set for a loss. Ruby clubbed 743 for Archtown on her turn, padding the lead again as the hosts run away with the game. Dominic picked up 361 for the Pirates, but they suffered defeat with a low total of 790. Dusky slammed 519 to bring the Arrows to 2062 in a pretty thorough win. Archtown's home record is 17-15, and they improve to 25-37 on the year, while Atlantic drops to 33-27 in the division loss.
McDonald's Pitch at Pirates Park, Atlantic: The East Division remains in the spotlight as the Pirates continue a busy week. Harrison got just 161 from Slinks at the start after she had a bad deflection end her turn. Delila answered with 257 for Atlantic, giving them a small lead at the start. Twinkie II pounded 794 for the Specters, with her excellent performance giving them a nice lead. Amber got beat on a swing and miss play, scoring only 256 for the Pirates as they fall behind. Sydney pummeled another 665 for Harrison in a strong team effort so far for the visitors. Americus came up short again with a measly 64 for Atlantic, and it looks like they'll take another loss. Brownie collected 439, giving the Specters 2059 in a likely victory. Dominic's 220 left the Pirates very short at 797. Harrison gets the division win to go to 8-12 in the East and 23-39 on the year, while Atlantic's home schedule ends at 15-17, and they are now 33-28 overall.
Coca-Cola Field, Boston: The Swifts clinch third overall with a win against a somewhat shorthanded Defenders side in this Center Division match. Boots put up 177 for Southridge in a disappointing start to the game. Patches hit 351 for Boston to give them a minor lead. Daisy had no answer with 54 for the Defenders in her emergency appearance. Puff II gave the Swifts a pretty good boost with her 695, extending their lead at the midway point. J. Garcia had 96 for Southridge in response, but they don't appear to have much of a chance in this game. Gradley stumbled with 246 for Boston, but their lead is very safe. Shaggy produced a modest 208 for the Defenders, capping their losing total at 535. Sweetheart went with 256 for the Swifts, giving them the win and third place on a total of 1548. Boston ends their home slate at 19-13, with a 44-20 overall record and a 15-5 division record. Southridge drops to 25-37 on a seventh straight loss.
Capital City SuperCenter: The Pirates begin their season-ending three-game road trip with the Sharpshooters, a team they could sweep. Fatigue appears to be an issue for Atlantic, as Delila managed a weak 174 in this appearance. Chris ripped 622 in response for Capital City, who are set on finishing well. Amber had 415 for the Pirates in an attempt to reduce the deficit. Missy tapped 225 as the Sharpshooters lose a bit of their lead. A double-tap from Americus sent a ball out of bounds, and her 155 stalled Atlantic's progress. Sprinkles cancelled out with 257 for Capital City, keeping them in control. Dominic had a meager 25 for the Pirates, putting them at a third straight loss with only 769. Dani posted 256 to give the Sharpshooters the win with 1360. Capital City's home record is 16-16, while they finish the season at 30-34 overall. Atlantic continues to slide, now at 33-29.
Nestle's Warriors Park, Central: Back in East Division action, the Warriors would clinch tenth on at least the tiebreaker with a win here, while the Cascades could get a step closer to clinching a playoff berth. Freedom saw Jasmine unleash 656 on her opening turn, putting the pressure on the hosts. Twilight made a mess of her turn with only 21 for Central. Stinky answered with 561 for the Cascades, boosting their lead significantly. Dustin didn't let the Warriors die yet, clobbering 681 to give them some life. Roxy fired back with 728 for Freedom, keeping them dominant at a critical time. Noelle couldn't keep pace, taking 337 for Central, which is likely going to lead them to a loss. Nikolai swatted 446 for the Cascades, icing their final at 2391 in what should be their fifth straight road win. Gizmo had 305 for the Warriors, but they lost with 1344. Freedom is now at 32-29, with a magic number of 1, while Central drops to 36-28, a 9-11 division record, and a home record of 17-15.
Nike Field, Commerce: The Tradewinds get a soft home finale as they tune up for the playoffs. Mr. Snowman produced an embarrassing 5 points for Viewpoint Sound, mismanaging the start in extremely poor form. Tigerette showed absolutely no mercy, slugging 1103 for Commerce to give them a massive lead. Mams served up a big 674 for the Meteors, mitigating the damage. Ice Cream countered with 465 for the Tradewinds, keeping them pretty firmly in control. Zach managed 200 for Viewpoint Sound, but they're far behind. Lionel belted 1089 for Commerce in response, pretty much confirming their win. Kelly's 313 put the Meteors at a final of 1192 in the loss, and they'll finish their road schedule at 9-23. Lorde's 209 placed the Tradewinds total at 2866 in a huge win, and the hosts are done with a home record of 22-10. Commerce improves to 46-17 with a game to go, while Viewpoint Sound is down to 23-40 on the loss.
The Intel Pitch, Diamond: The East Division is highlighted again in this battle for pride, with the Arrows trying to get the sweep. Archtown began with 457 from Sally in a strong opening appearance. Smokey never broke his slump fully, hitting only 112 for Diamond here. Sleepy B. knocked another 733 for the Arrows, padding their lead nicely. Citrus pulled back with 529 for the Gems, trying to keep them competitive halfway through the game. Ruby had a bit of a poor play for Archtown, and ended up with an odd deflection that gave her only 126 to add to the offense. Pedey put a huge dent in the deficit with 639 for Diamond, including two backwards deflections off the base of his bat, each finding safety in an unprecedented series of events. Dusky botched her turn with only 99 for the Arrows, leaving them vulnerable at 1415 total. Cassandra had only 78 for the Gems in her likely final game of cricket, putting them at a loss with 1358. Archtown improves to 26-37, ending their division play at 12-8, while Diamond's home schedule ends at 13-19 and they close the season at 25-39, with a 9-11 division mark.
HP Field, Eastside: The Waves get their first of three chances to secure a playoff spot in this game against a slumping Sharks team. Snuggle struck 432 for Oceanside in the opening attack, a bold effort from the captain. Graham countered with 240 for Eastside, and they'll start from behind. Bells put up 359 more for the Waves to keep their lead fairly strong. Chelsea replied with 274 for the Sharks, causing them to a slip a little further behind. Alyssa lined another 515 for Oceanside, extending their lead once again in strong form. Taylor couldn't keep up with only 242 for Eastside, and it looks like the visitors will take the game. Pounce tacked on another 510 for the Waves, giving them a total of 1816 in what should go for a win. Niki picked up 304 for the Sharks, giving them 1060 in the loss. Oceanside has clinched a playoff spot, snapping a five-game road losing streak to reach 33-29, while Eastside drops to 27-37 for the year, including a home record of 15-17, in which they lost their last five home games.
Chevrolet Field, Everton: The Eagles get a finale against their Northeastern rivals, who need two more wins or a bit of help to make the playoffs. Fluffina took a lot of swings but only had 138 for Maplewood in a bit of a poor performance in a critical game. Goldy batted 488 for Everton to give them the early lead. Bryant popped 263 for the Lumberjacks, but they are faltering against their rivals. Puff III added 467 for the Eagles, adding nicely to their lead. Diddley flipped 647 for Maplewood, covering the deficit this time to make things interesting. Cleo shot back with 409 for Everton, restoring a lead for the hosts with a player each to go. Cubby went with 450 for the Lumberjacks, giving them 1498 overall and forcing a response from the hosts. Blizzard surged ahead with 614 for the Eagles, giving them 1978 in a strong win. Everton's home record is 30-2, improving to 51-13 as their final record, with a 16-4 division mark, while Maplewood just opened the door a bit more for the Rockers by falling to 31-31.
Toyota Pitch, Freedom: This Eastern Hills regional rivalry could see the Cascades clinch a playoff spot if they knock off a strong rival. Delila had 339 for Atlantic, struggling early before settling in with good hits. Jasmine hammered 1071 for Freedom, pulling them much closer to safety with the huge effort. Amber had a bit of an early swing do her in with only 503 for the Pirates, failing to cover the deficit. Stinky found a nice groove and rode it well to 1542 for the Cascades, essentially securing their win at the halfway mark. Americus got 527 back with a solid performance for Atlantic, but the deficit remains large. Roxy slapped an extra 801 as Freedom proves relentless in their play here. Dominic had only 211 for the Pirates, giving them 1580 in the loss as they've faltered drastically this week. Nikolai brought a quick end with 84 for the Cascades, and they win on 3498 total. Freedom is up to 33-29, ending their home schedule at 17-15, while Atlantic drops to 33-30 with the loss and finishes with an 8-12 division mark.
Amazon Field, Golden: The Pilots play their last game, which is also the Waves road finale, and the visitors could get the sweep here. Snuggle didn't have a great turn with 113 for Oceanside. Valencia spiked 793 for Golden to give them a big initial lead. Bells stormed back with 510 for the Waves, cutting deeply into the deficit. Dusty picked up 167 for the Pilots, as their lead shrinks significantly at the halfway mark. Alyssa failed to capitalize with only 49 for Oceanside, throwing away a good chance to make a comeback. Strut tried and failed with his backhand, ending his turn at 279 but giving Golden a little more room to work with. Pounce did what he had to with 617 to give the Waves 1289, forcing a response from the hosts. A. Charlton had 252 for the Pilots, more than enough to win as they finish with 1491. Golden ends their home slate at 21-11, and will finish at 40-24 with a guaranteed opportunity for home field in the first round. Oceanside has a record record of 18-14, and is down to 33-30 on the year.
