Southern Monarchs at Midseason
The Southern Monarchs made a couple of changes at the end of last year, letting Nicole and Kirstin leave to the Capital City Sharpshooters and Everton Eagles. Replacing them were former Oceanside Wave Pounce and the rookie Hoppy. Unfortunately, the Monarchs got off to another slow start, coupled with Shannon's retirement announcement early in the season. They have recently gotten better, going 14-21 in the first half, with a Coastal Division record of 2-1. At home, the Monarchs are 8-9, while they are 6-12 on the more challenging road. The Monarchs average about 1596 points per game, a bit of a low mark, but the team's players are balanced between 417 and 387 points per game. Pounce actually leads the offense, as well as being the best home player. Right behind him at 396 points per game are Panda and Hoppy, the former better at home while the latter leads the road offense. Shannon brings up the rear, but not by much, and she is solid at home as well. The Monarchs lack explosiveness among their roster, and the offense is a bit weak, but they have a small chance of making a run at a playoff spot. More than likely, they miss out and shuffle things up in the offseason.

We're here in week 20 of the cricket season. It's been a struggle to get this far, but after this, there's only 15 league-weeks left. The first segment leads off with...
BMW RockDome, Westside: Two of the better teams in the league meet in the weekly debut, with the Swifts riding a road high as they come to visit the Rockers. Boston got off to a solid start with 475 from Patches on the opening turn of the game. Misty showed up well to counterattack with 591 for Westside, giving them the initial lead. Puff II played with confidence, but not for a long time, ending at an acceptable 328 for the Swifts, who have the deficit covered for now. Goatee successfully went to her backhand twice before a third ball got over her bat and stalled her at 379, which allowed the Rockers to regain the lead. Gradley got smothered early in his turn, keeping his pace low for Boston, and eventually he scored 213 in a poor turn. Midnight smacked 603 for Westside in response, extending their lead quite a bit near the end of the game. Sweetheart forced a response from the hosts again with her 790 for the Swifts, putting them at 1806 for their final score. Slinks did enough with 360 to give the Rockers a win at 1933. UPCL Cricket - Week 19 Part 3
