UPCL Cricket - Week 19 Part 3

We're back to wrap up week 19 in this segment. Leading off the post...

Volkswagen Stadium, Viewpoint Sound: The Meteors are back in action at home, hosting the Sharpshooters in their second of a four-game road trip. Chris had an early challenge come his way, which he met on a backhand, and then he pummeled his way to 761 for Capital City. Mams played at a more aggressive pace, recouping 695 for Viewpoint Sound on her excellent turn. Missy countered with 608 for the Sharpshooters, reclaiming a good portion of the opposing attack. Hoot crushed 1053 for the Meteors in response, shockingly giving them the lead at the halfway mark. Sprinkles barely had enough offense to cover the deficit with 463 for Capital City, leaving them in a tough position. Nibbles offered substantial support for Viewpoint Sound by smacking 866 on another good turn. Nicole hit 456 for the Sharpshooters, but her pace was too low, and they took the loss with 2288. Dominic had a pathetic 9 for the Meteors, but they ended with 2623 in the win. Viewpoint Sound rises to 14-17, while Capital City drops to 21-19.

BMW RockDome, Westside: The Rockers are set to hit midseason in this game, hosting an Eagles side going through struggles. Goldy held on for Everton for awhile, but her low pace caused her to end at 269 in a mediocre turn from the captain. Misty could have taken a replay for a technical error, but chose to accept 381 for Westside to give them a modest lead. Puff III covered the deficit with 320 for the Eagles, but a lifted ball ended her turn earlier than she liked. Goatee got knocked back at 102 for the Rockers, putting them behind halfway through the low-scoring game. Kirstin wasted the advantage, pulling back and swinging too hard to end with only 128 for Everton. Midnight pulled Westside ahead with a decent performance of 487, giving them the lead late in the game. Blizzard came out of nowhere for the Eagles, carving out 879 to give them a final of 1596. Slinks couldn't provide an answer for the Rockers, with her 213 sealing their loss at 1183. Everton's stunner gets them to 22-17, while Westside drops back to 23-12, hurting their latest push toward the top of the table.

Kraft Crowns Park, Royal: The Crowns look to pull off a big upset when the Warriors come to town, looking for a boost up the standings. Twilight had a very uncommon struggle with her pace this time, ending on only 328 for Central. Nightfur played a strong game for Royal, clubbing 585 to give the hosts a rare lead. Dustin did well to cover the deficit in a big way, slamming 1076 for the Warriors to make up for his captain's weaker effort. A still-vengeful Jake replied with 650 for the Crowns against his former team, cutting deep into the deficit the hosts face. Mario made a total mess of his turn, unable to address the cluttered pitch as he fell with a measly 32 for Central. Kayla covered the deficit with a solid 378 for Royal, giving them the lead with a player each to go. Gizmo dug in with 441 for the Warriors, forcing the hosts to reply as the visitors end at 1877. Hannah couldn't get off the starting blocks, falling with a lousy 24 on her second try, which set the Crowns at a loss with 1637. Central survives a scare to go to 23-11, while Royal drops again to 10-27.

Subway Field, Stonebridge: The Wolves look to add to the Rockers' misery, as they head out on the road trying to recover from their recent loss. Misty had some substantial struggles raising her pace, but she was persistent enough to tally 629 for Westside to get things going. Juno had a bit of a crash landing, playing well at first but ending with only 279 for Stonebridge in a quick exit. Goatee failed to establish any control on her turn, falling at just 40 for the Rockers. Frosty made minor progress with 305 for the Wolves, cutting into the deficit a bit at the midway mark. Midnight saw the Westside offense crash as her second try after a false start resulted in a pitiful score of 3. Cobalt covered the deficit with 330, although Stonebridge would have liked more to really amplify the pressure. Slinks had only a mild 224 for the Rockers, leaving them with a frustrating loss at 896. Prism made it look more convincing than it was with 743 for the Wolves, bringing their final to 1657. Stonebridge pulls off the massive upset to go to 16-21, while Westside is 23-13 and clearly in the second tier now.

Kraft Crowns Park, Royal: The Crowns get another chance to be spoilers, meeting the Pirates in their fourth of a seven-game road trip. Delila flipped a quick 682 for Atlantic in an impressive turn, pacing her team well at the start of the game. Nightfur slumped down again for Royal, hitting only 204 as the hosts start from behind once again. Isabella chose to accept 272 for the Pirates, an interesting choice as she could have had more on the optional replay. Jake lost slightly more ground for the Crowns on his turn, misplaying a bounce to end at 192. Americus couldn't figure out the scoring problem, ending at a measly 25 for Atlantic as low scores seem to be taking over again. Kayla took advantage of the opportunity to put a dent in the deficit, striking 407 to get Royal a bit close with the final players coming to bat. Klaus kept the hosts at bay very well with 710 on his turn, bringing the Pirates offense to a close with 1689 total. Hannah got beat by a speedy offering, ending with 363 individually to give the Crowns a losing total of 1166. Atlantic rises to 25-14, while Royal drops to 10-28 with the loss.

Sprint Pitch, Victoria: The Spurs put their recent home burst on the line against a five-game winning streak by the Swifts on the road in the first of the Spurs' pair of home games. Patches did reasonably well for Boston to begin the game, giving them 471 in a decent opener. Spice didn't take many chances, but she put up a great score of 694 to put Victoria in the lead initially. Puff II covered the deficit with 453 for the Swifts, but she bailed when she hit a ball into her own wicket. Yekaterina got beat by a brutal deflection, ending her turn with a meager 20 for the now-trailing Spurs. Gradley fended off a number of attacks on the wicket, rallying to score 612 and pad the Boston lead sufficiently. B. Chapman couldn't quite keep up for Victoria, also ending on a deflection at 343 as the deficit grows late in the game. Sweetheart paddled 519 for the Swifts at the end of the game, bringing their final score to 2055. Wario controversially received a replay, but wasted it with only 48 for the Spurs in their loss at 1105. Boston moves up to 24-13, while Victoria slips to 19-20 on the year.

Sprint Pitch, Victoria: The second game in the Spurs' doubleheader has them hosting Southwest Division rivals, the Sharpshooters, who are in the third of a four-game road trip. Chris saw his turn cut short by a high-arcing ball that took out his wicket at 320 for Capital City. Spice replied with 1182 for Victoria, a high-powered attack that sees the hosts off to another great start. Missy's issues with consistency continued, as she produced a meager 99 for the Sharpshooters this time. Yekaterina plowed along with 675 for the Spurs, extending their lead quite nicely at the halfway point. Sprinkles lost a bit more ground for Capital City with her 431, likely confirming their path to the loss. B. Chapman contributed another 726 for Victoria on her turn, padding the lead once again with a nice game. Nicole played another solid game at the back with 395 for the Sharpshooters, but they took the loss with 1245 total, their seventh straight on the road. Wario tapped 375 for the Spurs, putting their winning final at 2958. Victoria is back to even at 20-20, while Capital City slips down to 21-20.

FedEx Ground, Eastside: The Sharks hope not to go on another home skid, while the flailing Nighthawks play their seventh in a ten-game road trip. Peach made a mistake with a double-hit, ending on only 90 for North Modernistic in a poor start to the game for the visitors. Chelsea fired back in a big way for Eastside, grabbing 702 to set them distinctly ahead. Luigi found a highly successful groove for the Nighthawks, pounding 764 to cover the deficit for now. Taylor fought off the attack with 568 for the Sharks, keeping them noticeably ahead at the halfway mark. Cheddar put in a stern challenge for North Modernistic with 758, covering the deficit with such an effort. Niki restored a lead for Eastside with her 553, but they are losing momentum to the visitors at this late stage in the game. Bright barely covered the deficit with 240 for the Nighthawks, ending their offense at 1852. Paps got struck down at 28 for the Sharks, leaving them a point short in the loss with 1851. North Modernistic can thank their lucky stars to get the win, going to 22-22, while Eastside can only shake their heads in falling to 16-21.

BMW RockDome, Westside: The Rockers' recent slump takes them to the start of a four-game home stand against the Knights, who are in the second of a four-game road trip. Kiwi belted a fierce 1411 for Terrace City at the start, setting them up for a good start to the game. Misty didn't let that determine the game, blasting 1225 to keep Westside within striking distance after a busy first turn. Jennifer fired back with a decent 464 for the Knights, but they will have a weaker second lead. Goatee covered the deficit, taking big swings to accumulate 818 for the Rockers to go ahead. Oreo lightly covered the deficit with her 368 for Terrace City, but they are not on the front foot. Midnight did enough with her 424 for Westside to stave off that attack, maintaining a narrow lead for the hosts late in the game. Stripes couldn't keep up with 192 for the Knights, leaving them with 2435 in the loss. Slinks sliced 666 for the Rockers at the end, icing their critical win at 3133. Westside gets back on track at 24-13, while Terrace City slips down to 22-18.

Home Depot Forum, Web City: The Spiders look to play spoiler in the second of a four-game home stand against the Swifts, who are in the second of a three-game road trip. Patches swatted 574 for Boston in a productive first turn for the visitors in this game. Shadow kept it close for Web City, striking 544 but ending after a lull caught him off guard. Puff II kept the scoring healthy for the Swifts, swinging her way to 511 to restore their lead. Ted countered very effectively for the Spiders, rallying with 659 to give the Spiders the halfway mark lead. Gradley made things more favorable for Boston, unleashing 1108 to give them a substantial lead. Shiny couldn't keep up with 304 for Web City, putting them at a deep deficit with little time to correct their course. Sweetheart hoped she didn't leave the Swifts vulnerable with 280, icing their offense at 2473. Dani didn't get close with 82 for the Spiders, closing their offense at 1589 in the loss. Boston has won seven straight on the road to rise to 25-13, while Web City sinks to 14-22 for the year with another loss.

Henry Ford Memorial Stadium, Pronger: The Tridents reach midseason in this game, facing off with a comparable Surfers side. Watermelon did a lot of two-touch swings for Pearl, eventually sending one too high to end with a solid 368 for the opening attack. Precious set Pronger noticeably ahead with 604 on a determined first turn from the captain. Neopolitan's offense came to an end when a ball deflected over her bat and out of bounds, producing only 304 for the Surfers. Zach had only 224 for the Tridents, weakening their lead as a deflection cut his turn short. Boots covered the deficit for now with 495 for Pearl, carrying them to a decent lead with the performance. Spot kept Pronger in charge with 544 on the counterattack, adding modestly to the lead before the final players come to bat. Wings struck 454 for the Surfers, forcing the hosts to reply with the visitors closing their offense at 1621. Potter carried the game for the Tridents, tacking on 392 to give them the win with 1764. Pronger is up to 19-16, while Pearl is 18-18 with the loss.

Nestle's Warriors Park, Central: The Warriors reach midseason right at the end of Week 19 as they host a fiery Prestige team. Acorn served up a pretty hot start for Lighton, lining 621 with great pace to put the hosts under early pressure. Twilight did enough for Central, recovering from a slow start to rally the hosts into the lead with her 762. Spirit stumbled hard at 120 for the Prestige, unable to cover the deficit, which is bad news for the visitors. Dustin batted 448 for the Warriors, enough to extend their lead but not enough to give them full confidence in the advantage they hold. Twinkie I broke free of some of her recent struggles with 652 for Lighton, giving them a temporary lead at least. Mario had a shaky turn for Central, producing 309 as they hold a minor lead with a player each to go in the game. Salmo put the Prestige in a decent position, picking up 501 to set their final score at 1894. Gizmo came up short at 343 for the Warriors, leaving them in a loss with 1872. Lighton steals the victory at the death to go to 17-22, while Central is now 23-12 for the year.
