We're back to start a new week of cricket, which should be completed sometime during this upcoming week. Leading off the segment...
AT&T Oceanside Stadium, Oceanside: The Waves continue a short home stand, while their Coastal Division rivals, the Meteors, make the short trip for a match. Mams had a low pace for Viewpoint Sound at first, but recovered to belt 1046 in a big opener for the week. Snuggle saw a double-deflection end his turn at 309 for Oceanside, the unfortunate spins cutting him short. Hoot replied with a steady 365 for the Meteors, doing his part to keep their lead strong. Caitlin made a deep cut into the deficit for the Waves, carving out 915 to make it a closer game at the halfway mark. Nibbles had a somewhat choppy swing, which didn't help him much when he ended at 434 for Viewpoint Sound, a decent effort. Celestia shot back with 466 for Oceanside, making a small impact as the hosts remain behind late in the game. Dominic added significant support with 750 for the Meteors, putting their final score at 2595. Dewey had only 273 for the Waves, leaving them short at 1963. Viewpoint Sound picked up an upset win to go to 9-15 with a 3-3 division record, while Oceanside is 20-17 overall and 2-2 in the division.
BMW RockDome, Westside: After a week off, the Rockers return to action as the Tridents come in for an odd road game. Precious wasted little time in setting the tone for Pronger, striking 583 to lead off the game. Misty didn't produce much of an answer for Westside, with a mediocre 239 setting the hosts back at the start. Zach stepped up big for the Tridents on his turn, nearly doubling their offense with his 560, a good appearance for the sophomore. Goatee nearly covered the deficit at the halfway mark, blasting 902 in a remarkable turn to put pressure on the later players. Spot sacrificed a bit of longevity for a high pace with 364 for Pronger, giving them a noticeable lead. Midnight did poorly with 216 for Westside, leaving them at a deficit when the final players come to bat. Potter tacked on 567 more for the Tridents, keeping their offense balanced as they close with a tough-to-beat 2074. Slinks had only 226 for the Rockers, another disappointment as they finish with a losing mark at 1583. Westside drops to 18-9, while Pronger is 16-11.
Cisco Tysini Field, Tysini: The Hummingbirds look for a season sweep over the Crowns in this battle of lowly teams. Nightfur showed no signs of her usual hitting struggles this time, unleashing 630 for Royal against their vulnerable hosts. Princess countered with 505 for Tysini, keeping them within range in the early going. Jake mostly covered the first wave of damage with his 497 for the Crowns, keeping their lead steady for now. Leandra made marginal progress in the comeback for the Hummingbirds, batting 525 to shrink the deficit a bit. Kayla had a small 174 for Royal on her turn, devastating the lead they had built up in the early stages. Charli pounced at the chance to put Tysini ahead, ripping 886 to give the hosts a significant lead with a player each to go. The Crowns didn't have a chance, as Hannah hit only 216 and the team lost with 1517 overall, unable to rise to the late challenge. Brownie tacked on 417 more for the Hummingbirds, setting their winning mark at 2333. Tysini improves to 9-18, passing the now 9-21 Royal side.
Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The Knights look to get back on track after last week's disasters, but they face a Flames team that looks to benefit from their first bye week. Crystal had an admirable 456 for Queens to begin the game in solid form. Kiwi answered with 281 for Terrace City, getting knocked out by a bad bounce. Paige had a bit of trouble at the end of her turn for the Flames, ending at 314 with a high hit out of bounds. The Knights still couldn't keep up, as Jennifer produced on 272, leaving the hosts further behind at the midway point. Max supplied Queens with 351 this time, but it's not enough for the visitors to be running away with the game yet in this chippy battle. Right on cue, Oreo reeled in the visitors, slashing 694 for Terrace City in one of her dominant hitting efforts, giving the hosts a lead with a player each to go. Violetta shot back with 436 for the Flames, forcing a response from the hosts as her team finished with 1557. Stripes did her part with 368 for the Knights, lifting them to the win with 1615. Terrace City jumps to 20-13, narrowly behind the 19-12 Queens on winning percentage while even in games over .500.
Nike Field, Commerce: The Lumberjacks are set to begin a road doubleheader, the first game against the Tradewinds. Fluffina had some struggles with distribution early on, but she lasted long enough to grab 404 for Maplewood to open the scoring. Tigerette made a late decision to go backhand on a shot, and this turned out to be a half-cooked ending to her turn at 159 for Commerce, a poor start. Diddley didn't inspire much confidence for the Lumberjacks with only 235, hardly extending their lead at all. Ice Cream cut into the deficit with 368 for the Tradewinds, but they remain behind halfway through the game. Bryant went pretty big with 633 for Maplewood, nearly doubling their offense to build the lead up again. Lionel just about covered the deficit with 707 for Commerce on his turn, setting up quite the interesting finish with the deficit at its smallest point of the game. Waluigi appeared to choke away another road game with 164 for Lumberjacks, leaving them vulnerable at 1436. Lorde had 256 for the Tradewinds, just enough to win with 1490 total. Commerce's comeback takes them to 11-18, while Maplewood drops to 12-19 on the year.
Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint: The Lumberjacks complete their doubleheader against the league-leading Blades. Fluffina was quite a bit worse in this appearance, starting Maplewood off with only 160. Snowball sprayed 871 for Swordpoint on her opening turn, giving the hosts a massive initial lead with the performance. Diddley didn't get discouraged for the Lumberjacks, firing back with 614 to keep them competitive at this stage. Dreamy got some of it back with 432 for the Blades, keeping their lead pretty strong at the halfway mark. Bryant slipped up with 279 for Maplewood, failing to cover the deficit in this outing. Bandit did well on the counterattack with 519 for Swordpoint, giving them a much-appreciated boost late in the game. Waluigi had too much emphasis on his pace, ending at 150 for the Lumberjacks in their losing effort with a final score of 1203. Stealth finished big with 705 for the Blades, bringing their winning final score to 2527. Swordpoint remains in first place at 24-9, while Maplewood slides again to 12-20 after a fruitless doubleheader.
Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: The Surfers close a three-game home stand against the Spurs, who begin a road doubleheader. Spice shot off a great turn right at the start, putting Victoria in a good position with her opening attack of 616. Watermelon erased the deficit, and barely looked fazed doing so, with 684 for Pearl that could have been more if not for an errant backswing. Yekaterina poked 290 for the Spurs, a dramatically lower second attack that leaves them in a troublesome spot. Neopolitan provided another 711 for the Surfers on her turn, padding their lead quite well at the midway mark. B. Chapman saw a ball get stuck on her bat, but she backhanded it cleanly, only to fall a few swings later with 311 for Victoria. Boots kept the Pearl offense both strong and steady with 668 on her turn, doing well to make victory more likely. Wario had a measly 112 for the Spurs on his turn, leaving them at a losing total of 1329. Wings iced the Surfers win with 368 individually for 2431 collectively. Pearl improves to 16-13 with the win, while Victoria slips to 11-18 in the loss.
GE Stadium, Southridge: The Defenders are back at home for a three-game home stand, facing the Spurs in the second game of their road doubleheader. Spice lacked the same authority at the start of this game, faltering with 223 for Victoria to lead things off. Bianca made an embarrassment out of herself in her turn, giving Southridge a pathetic 16 to start from behind with. Yekaterina got knocked back when she tried a backhand, which arced too high and brought her down at 586 for the Spurs. Debby couldn't break her recent home slump for the Defenders, taking a poor 96 this time as they seem doomed to lose. B. Chapman added on with 273 for Victoria, which seems fine given the lack of challenge from their hosts. Stephanie made a fairly deep cut into the deficit with 742 on her turn, setting up a closer than expected finish. Wario nabbed a middling 264 for the Spurs, putting their final at 1346. Hughbert got as close as he could without besting the visitors, as his 480 left the Defenders just short at 1334. Victoria recovers to 12-18 on the year, while Southridge is now 16-20.
Cisco Tysini Field, Tysini: We've got a Southwest Divisional next, between two teams on opposite ends of the table. Chris wasted no time in getting Capital City on the board in good form, drilling 640 to begin the game with a high output. Princess stumbled for Tysini on her turn, picking up a poor 225 that will see the hosts start this one from behind. Missy didn't do much to help the Sharpshooters out, leaving the door open as she scored a paltry 215 for a weak secondary attack. Leandra covered the deficit for the Sharpshooters, lining a crisp 652 to give them the lead at the midway point. Capital City staggered again with only 112 for Sprinkles, a terrible decline that has them in quite a bit of danger. Charli put Tysini more noticeably ahead with 291 on her turn, but either team could still take this game in the end. Nicole clearly didn't get the memo for the Sharpshooters, ending with a pathetic 96 to leave them short at 1063. Brownie added 505 for the Hummingbirds for a final of 1673 in an impressive victory over their minor rivals. Tysini is now 10-18, while Capital City slips to 18-12.
Amazon Field, Golden: The Pilots end a three-game home stand just as the Tradewinds begin a four-game road trip. Tigerette continues her recent road success for Commerce this time out, knocking a fast 600 to give her team a good base. Valencia just bested the opposing captain, setting Golden narrowly in front with 606 on her turn. Ice Cream didn't get as much as she wanted for the Tradewinds, falling at 208 as their offense weakens. Dusty brought slightly better support for the Pilots, giving them 401 to set them a bit farther ahead at the halfway mark. Lionel covered the deficit with 339 for Commerce on his turn, but not by a large margin as the visitors are still in danger. Strut churned out a strong 448 for Golden, giving their lead a bit more strength before the final players come to bat. Lorde faltered with a misguided swing that stalled her at 177, leaving the Tradewinds in a loss with 1324 total. A. Charlton had a very abrupt end to her turn, scoring a measly 8 for the Pilots, but they still won with 1463 overall. Golden improves to 22-10, while Commerce drops to 11-19.
Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The Knights inch closer to midseason, while the Pilots begin a five-game road trip over the same span of the season. Golden's Valencia got taken out pretty early with 150, as her backhand hit took too long to develop and her wicket was knocked over. Kiwi showed who's boss in this game, crushing 976 for Terrace City at the start to give the hosts a massive lead. Dusty saw her swing casually drift out of position, but she was too late to correct it, ending on 279 for the Pilots. Jennifer actually weakened the Knights' lead with her 171, but they aren't worried yet. Strut put together a nice rally with 560 for Golden, but they are still noticeably behind. Oreo staggered at 66 for Terrace City on her turn, potentially leaving the door open to the visitors late in the game. A. Charlton covered the deficit with 392 for the Pilots, setting their final at 1381 in what's become a close finish. Stripes hit 223, just enough for the Knights to keep the lead and the win at 1436. Terrace City survives the scare to improve to 21-13, while Golden drops to 22-11 with the loss.
Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: The Sharpshooters are back home, facing the Cascades, who are playing in the sixth of a seven-game road trip. Jasmine lifted a fairly solid 424 for Freedom on her opening turn, a good mark from the captain. Chris gave Capital City a narrow lead at the start of the game with 441 on his turn, leaving the decision to the rest of the teams' rosters. Stinky has lacked consistency lately, and he was not good with 92 for the Cascades this time, a too-small performance. Missy proved much more reliable for the Sharpshooters, giving them a large lead as she smacked 945. Roxy had a bad bounce on a spike play for Freedom, resulting in her early exit at just 113 for the struggling visitors. Sprinkles didn't do much to help Capital City's lead, keeping things steady with 152 on her turn. Nikolai hit very well for the Cascades, but he had 509, which was not enough to force a response as his team took the loss with 1138. Nicole had a weak 36 for the Sharpshooters, but they won with 1574 anyway. Capital City is back on track at 19-12, while Freedom slides to 9-16 with the loss.
That's it for this segment. With everything going right, the next segment will be up tomorrow, and the week may end by Wednesday or Thursday.
