We're right back to start the action for Week 19. First up...
Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint: The Blades look to extend their league lead while hosting the hapless Monarchs. Panda wasted no time on his turn, establishing a good pace and solid swing to score 599 for Southern, making their presence known. Snowball was hoping for a bit more time on her turn, but she churned out a quick 450 to keep Swordpoint within striking range. Hoppy used a backhand to keep her turn alive, but it shattered her pace and she closed on 302 for the Monarchs. Dreamy went deep for the Blades on her turn, blasting 1001 to give them the midway lead. Pounce covered the deficit for Southern, lining 755 on his turn to do so. Bandit countered with 329 for Swordpoint on a replay after a very close call went his way for a technical error. Shannon made good contact on her turn, ending at 481 to give the Monarchs 2137 overall, forcing a response from the hosts. Stealth dropped the ball at 352 for the Blades, sending them to a loss with 2132. Southern stole a massive upset win for an 11-21 record, while Swordpoint dips to 28-11.
Coca-Cola Field, Boston: The Nighthawks make their fifth stop in a ten-game road trip, visiting the rising Boston Swifts. Peach made a very good backhand hit early in her turn, but couldn't quite keep a ball down on a bounce, stalling at 159 for North Modernistic. Patches didn't take many risks for Boston, playing a patient game as she gathered 424 to start things off. Luigi was cruising pretty well for the Nighthawks until a low ball caught him on a swing-and-miss to end his turn at 530. Puff II tried a backhand flick on her turn, but it went straight out of bounds, giving her a meager 50 as the Swifts now trail. Cheddar could have capitalized with a bit more offense, but her 340 extends the North Modernistic lead a little bit anyway. Gradley made up for his mistakes last game, rallying for 707 here to regain the lead for Boston. Bright had bad placement for the Nighthawks, ending at 106 as they take the loss with 1135. Sweetheart capped the Swifts win with her 330, giving them 1511 overall in a tough battle. Boston improves to 19-13, while North Modernistic slips back to 21-21.
Henry Ford Memorial Stadium, Pronger: The Tridents try to bounce back from a recent setback, while the Monarchs look to build off their upset to start this week. Panda didn't quite have it easy this time, getting taken out at 341 for Southern in a decent start. Precious did a wonderful job of giving Pronger a large lead early on, crushing 1002 on the opening turn. Hoppy showed no fear for the Monarchs, slapping back with 641 to keep them within range despite not covering the deficit. Zach fell into the trap for the Tridents, getting a hitch in his swing that stopped him at a paltry 48. Pounce jumped right in for Southern, scattering a good 489 to cover the deficit this time. Spot got a bit of a bailout with his missed backhand leading to a technical error, but his mild 225 on the replay left Pronger behind with a player each to go. Shannon kept the pressure high with 503 for the Monarchs, setting them at a final of 1974. Potter had a good rally for the Tridents, but 529 left them short at 1804 in the loss. Southern has toppled two playoff teams to get to 12-21, while Pronger dips once again to 17-15.
Pepsi Prestige Park, Lighton: The Prestige start their second half just as the Wolves, rested in three of the last four weeks, finally reach their midseason point. Juno bounced her way to 475 for Stonebridge to lead things off in relatively good form. Acorn made a backhand look easy to extend his turn for Lighton, batting 520 when it was over. Frosty looked to develop a pace like she had when she broke 2000, but instead faltered at 274 as the Wolves regain a weaker lead. Spirit wasted the opportunity with only 168 for the Prestige, putting them behind at the halfway mark of the game. Cobalt answered well for Stonebridge, batting 504 to pad the lead a bit more. Twinkie I didn't trust her swing enough for Lighton, ending on a pathetic 90 when she made a jittery motion too close to a ball. Prism misplayed a bounce, accounting for her quick end at 387, which brings the Wolves to 1640 overall. Salmo had a pitiful 64 for the Prestige, taking the loss on a total of just 842. Stonebridge enters midseason at 15-20, just a half-game back of the 16-20 Lighton team.
UPS Hall, Maplewood: The Lumberjacks continue to try to break their home curse, while the Rockers hope that they can extend their hosts' pain one more game. Misty hopes she broke her road slump with 543 for Westside this time out, establishing a good base for the visitors. Fluffina answered pretty well for Maplewood with 424, but they are just a bit behind initially. Goatee drilled 654 for the Rockers on her turn, doing a good job to supplement the lead heavily. Diddley fought back with pace, but couldn't catch up with 488 for the Lumberjacks, losing a bit of ground at the halfway mark. Midnight got beat by a bad deflection, ending with 368 for Westside as their lead loses a bit of steam. Bryant made a bit of progress for Maplewood with an excellent turn of 490, trying to shrink the deficit late in the game. Slinks kept the high attack fairly balanced with 632 for the Rockers, producing their final score of 2197. Waluigi crashed out at 227 for the Lumberjacks, leaving them short at 1629 in their eleventh straight home loss. Westside improves to 22-10 in a tie for third, while Maplewood falls again to 12-27, unable to break the curse that has befallen them.
Pepsi Prestige Park, Lighton: The Prestige are set to host the Pilots, who come off of a bye week into their midseason in the third of a five-game road trip. Valencia brought a high-pace attack for Golden, looking and feeling fresh as she smacked 679 at the start of the game. Acorn couldn't settle his swing down, falling with 96 as he tried too hard to recover some of the deficit for Lighton. Dusty countered quite well for the Pilots, adding another 640 to their lead in a dominant start to the game. Spirit was unable to gather as much as she needed, with 352 for the Prestige, who remain far behind. Strut provided a point of weakness to the Golden lead when he hit only 117 in a poor turn from the veteran. Twinkie I didn't get enough back to make any significant difference for Lighton, only a modest 249. A. Charlton batted 554 in a good turn for the Pilots, bringing their overall score to 1990 in what should be a win. Salmo brought the Prestige a bit closer with 343, but they took the loss on 1040. Golden hits midseason on a positive note at 24-11, while Lighton is starting to regress after a surge, backing down to 16-21.
Nike Field, Commerce: The Tradewinds welcome the Prestige, who finish a doubleheader, while the hosts hit midseason in the second of a five-game home stand. Acorn hammered 619 at the start for Lighton, setting them up for a good game. Tigerette tried to attack with pace for Commerce, but couldn't keep control, bailing at 195. Spirit put a bit too much lift on her final swing, going out of bounds at 98 for the Prestige in a poor turn from the usually reliable veteran. Ice Cream got split on a cluttered pitch, blocking a low ball but missing a high ball to end with 329 for the Tradewinds. Twinkie I outright left Lighton vulnerable with her pathetic 69 points, making the game get close. Lionel capitalized in a big way with 642 for Commerce, giving them a significant lead late in the game. Salmo forced a response from the hosts by hitting 425, setting the Prestige at 1211. Lorde didn't need to do much, lifting 400 for the Tradewinds to win comfortably with their final at 1566. Commerce enters midseason at 14-21, while Lighton drops again to 16-22. Prestige captain Acorn is seen fuming at his teammates after losing three times in rapid succession.
Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: The Sharpshooters return after having a bye week to face a similarly matched Swifts team. Boston got off to a great start with Patches pummeling 654 with pace to stake out a nice lead for the visitors. Chris missed on a bouncing ball, which hopped over his bat and the wicket to end his turn at 108 for Capital City. Puff II slipped up earlier than she expected, scoring only 264 for the Swifts in a middling turn. Missy made up a bit of the deficit with 351 for the Sharpshooters, but they remain noticeably behind at the midway mark. Gradley contributed 418 for the Boston cause, extending their lead with the solid performance. Capital City charged back with 506 from Sprinkles, shrinking the deficit slightly again, but not enough to get them in striking distance. Sweetheart faltered with 128 for the Swifts, leaving them a bit vulnerable at 1464 total. Nicole couldn't complete the comeback for the Sharpshooters, ending at 271 to put them at 1236 in the loss. Boston gets a win to go to 20-13, while Capital City drops to 21-17 in the loss.
Cisco Tysini Field, Tysini: The Hummingbirds begin a five-game home stand just as the Knights set out on a four-game road trip. Kiwi produced well for Terrace City at the start with 528, giving her side a strong base to build upon. Princess played just a bit harder for Tysini, pulling in 659 to put her team in front initially. Jennifer covered the deficit well for the Knights, paddling 544 to keep things competitive. Leandra matched the boost in intensity very easily for the Hummingbirds, batting 679 to keep the hosts in front as the game reaches half-completion. Oreo stumbled with 141 for Terrace City on her turn, putting them in deeper trouble with the poor appearance. Charli didn't let off the gas for Tysini by any means, slashing her way to 734 as she extended the lead once again. Stripes couldn't keep up with 265 for the Knights, sealing their loss at 1478. Brownie made a mistake on her turn, but it didn't matter that it left her with a measly 28, as the Hummingbirds won with 2095. Tysini is looking more like themselves at home, going to 14-19, while Terrace City drops back to 22-17 on the year.
FedEx Ground, Eastside: The Sharks look to continue their home success in the Pick Your Side Derby against the Rockers, who play their second of a three-game road trip. Misty is planning to make it difficult on the hosts, belting 956 right at the start for Westside to take a large lead. Chelsea seemed to have a good pace, but she couldn't hang on long enough, ending at 439 for Eastside. Goatee had to deal with some clutter early in her turn, emerging with 473 after a good recovery for the Rockers. Taylor wiped out the second wave of damage with her 487, but she made minimal progress against the deficit for the Sharks. Midnight stumbled with 87 for Westside, leaving them a bit vulnerable at a critical point in the game. Niki stepped up for Eastside, pummeling 682 to give Eastside a small lead with a player each to go. Slinks hopes that her 767 for the Rockers is enough to earn the win at 2253 total. Paps couldn't make another comeback, ending at 215 as the Sharks take the loss at 1823. Westside improves to 23-10, while Eastside's seven-game home winning streak ends to send them to 16-20.
Coca-Cola Field, Boston: The Swifts begin a three-game home stand with a tough foe, the league-leading Blades, in a big game for both teams. Snowball's road struggles are persistent, as she leads this game off with a meager 98 for Swordpoint. Patches tried to play cautious and patient, but ended at 269 after an unlucky deflection took out the Boston captain. Dreamy had a great pace at first, but a high swing brought her down at 240 for the Blades, barely enough to cover the deficit. Puff II went for a backhand-double on her turn, but couldn't settle the swing, closing at 406 to pad the Swifts lead. Bandit again kept Swordpoint in the fight, slicing 384 to cover the deficit narrowly this time. Gradley held the lead steady for Boston with his 393, but the low-scoring game leaves neither team out of it. Stealth had only 158 for the Blades, closing their worst road game this year at 880, a losing mark. Sweetheart provided 376 for the Swifts, doing her part to close out their win at 1444. Boston gets a critical win over the league leaders to go to 21-13, while Swordpoint is in danger of losing their lead at 28-12.
Nike Field, Commerce: The segment ends with a battle between these Urban Division foes, as the Rockers look to stay strong while visiting the Tradewinds. Misty fought off a number of tough challenges on her technical error replay, scoring 527 for Westside in a good start. Tigerette fired back with 336 for Commerce, a bit weaker than usual from the feisty captain. Goatee didn't add that much for the Rockers, losing her controlled pace at 276 with an errant swing. Ice Cream took advantage of the misstep, hammering out 790 for the Tradewinds to give them the lead at the halfway mark. Midnight showed resiliency for Westside with her 516 against her former team, covering the deficit for now. Lionel didn't get it all back, but his 480 retained a lead for Commerce with a player each to go after that laborious turn. Slinks confirmed the loss for the Rockers with a paltry 78, putting them at 1397. Lorde tapped 281 for the Tradewinds, confirming their win at 1887. Commerce gets a big division win to go to 15-21, while Westside dips to 23-11 with the loss.
That's it for this segment. I hope to get the second segment of the week out by the end of the night.
