Eastside Sharks at Midseason
The Eastside Sharks moved into the brand new FedEx Ground to start this season, a few miles east of the now-Midland stadium, HP Field. Gone was captain Graham, lost in the Puyallup Exodus, and the Sharks added Paps from the Pronger Tridents to replace the captain. With Chelsea now leading, the Sharks endured a miserable ten-game home losing streak to open the venue. The Sharks have recovered to go 16-19 so far, with a 5-3 record against the Eastern Hills Division. Additionally, they've gone 7-10 at home, and 9-9 on the road, without a home loss since the end of that first streak. The Sharks average almost exactly 1500 points per game, an offense that is a bit too low for a team with hopes of competing. Chelsea has excelled in the lead-off role, hitting 440 a game, but with Taylor at 360 and Niki at 380, the depth scoring lacks a bit. Paps is much worse at 320 per game, and could be one and done in Eastside. Only Taylor is better when at home, hitting 400 a game in the new building. Niki brings the most explosive play, but the offense is worrisome. Without a massive boost in the second half of the season, the Sharks will likely finish outside the playoffs this year.
