Pearl Surfers at Midseason

The Pearl Surfers saw uninspiring veteran Cowzart leave in the Puyallup Exodus at the end of last season, and to replace him, they brought aboard former Southridge Defenders captain Boots, who was expected to have a renaissance. While the Surfers are only 18-17 overall, and 0-6 in the Coastal Division, the team has plenty to be excited about from top to bottom. The Surfers do well in Pearl with a 9-8 record, and they are 9-9 on the road, so their performances are fairly even regardless of venue. In terms of offense, they score 1622 per game, not a stunning mark but not low enough to cause any worry. Neopolitan and Boots, the middle hitters, each score just under 450 points per game, doing just as well as expected as a formidable duo. Watermelon comes in at 390 per game, a bit weaker but nothing too low for the lead-off hitter. The veteran Wings has a concerning 335 average, but the Surfers like his presence. Boots adds another angle with a 500+ home average to lead the team, which also helps her be the most explosive player on a team that prefers consistency. Neopolitan nearly hits 500 on the road as well. The Surfers are in good shape going forward after some early struggles. They are a cohesive team now and should make the playoffs.
