Southridge Defenders at Midseason

The Southridge Defenders came into the season with many questions. How would their only returning player and captain, Debby, handle coming off of a lengthy suspension that ended her season last year? How would the rookies perform? Would the team be competitive. So far, the Defenders have been decent, with a 16-19 record. This includes an 8-10 record at home and 8-9 road record, and they've gone 3-1 in their Southeast Division games so far. The offense checks in at 1536 points per game, a bit of a low mark, and their consistency leaves quite a bit to be desired. Bianca has proven to be the biggest bright spot in the lead-off role, while Stephanie excels at home and Debby is better on the road. Hughbert is a bit of a weak link at the end of the lineup, but two out of three rookies meeting or exceeding expectations and a good effort from the captain have served this team well. Unfortunately, the playoff race is crowded, and the Defenders seem unable to string positive results together at times, so this is a team likely looking at an early offseason rather than the chase for the Hutton Cup.
