Boston Swifts at Midseason
The Boston Swifts once again made no changes in the offseason, but this time, they had three trophies in their case: a Hutton Cup, a President's Cup, and a City Cup. The 2016 Treble has proved hard to match for the Swifts, who had a long home drought at the start of this cricket season. Recent games have seen them improve to 22-13, but they remain just 1-4 in the Southeast Division. At home, the Swifts are 8-9, but they are lethal with a 14-4 road record, which has been their consistent force all season. The Swifts average 1768 per game, so offense is of little concern, but defense has been spotty at times this season. Each player hits over 400 per game, led by 476 from Gradley and 459 from Puff II in the middle of the lineup. Sweetheart adds 423, and Patches, the captain, sits at 408, a still-respectable total despite being last on the team. Especially critical are the road efforts by Gradley and Sweetheart, who are each 100 points better away from home. Puff II usually sets the tone best at home. Puff II and Gradley are also explosive players, adding another layer of danger. Rare is the game where all four players are off their game. The Swifts are always threatening, and should have a chance to defend their Hutton Cup title.
