Victoria Spurs at Midseason
The Victoria Spurs didn't make many changes in the offseason, with just the one-season departure of Kavan. To fill the void, the Spurs brought on sturdy rookie Wario, and he has performed well at the back of the roster. The Spurs are 17-18 on the year so far, going 9-9 at home and 8-9 on the road, while also a sorry 0-3 in the Southwest Division. The Spurs have recently gotten it together with a six-game home winning streak to get to midseason. They average 1712 points per game, a high-powered offense that runs streaky at home and choppy on the road. Leading the team in average are sophomore sensation Yekaterina and the rookie Wario, the team's best home and road players, respectively. Spice also hits over 400 per game, and she has an explosive side that makes the captain one of the most dangerous hitters in the league, as well as a good home and road balance. B. Chapman is lowest in average, but not by much, and she's a great home secondary scorer. Unaffected by venue, the Spurs have the potential to keep up their recent surge, provided they can get lucky every now and then. Luck on their side probably would be enough to get this playoff starved team a chance to compete for the postseason title.
