Commerce Tradewinds at Midseason

The Commerce Tradewinds rolled into this season with the same roster as last year, thanks to good pool performances and acceptable work in cricket. This year has been similarly tough for the proud franchise, as the Tradewinds are 14-21 on the year, and 1-3 in the Urban Division. At home, the Tradewinds have gone 6-11, while they are 8-10 on the road. Neither mark is good enough to build upon. The Tradewinds average about 1550 points per game, a decent mark but not in line with a playoff caliber team. Leading the way for the Tradewinds is the dual threat of the cerebral Tigerette and muscular Lionel, each hitting over 460 per game. Lionel has propped up the home offense more, while Tigerette is a beast on the road. Unfortunately, Ice Cream hits only 330, and sophomore Lorde is at 280 per game, leaving a lack of depth that exposes the Tradewinds against really good teams. Lorde may be their least consistent player as well, while Tigerette sets a low pace in explosiveness. The Tradewinds are simply not good enough to make the playoffs, but they have enough chemistry that suggests sticking together for another year could do some good.
