UPCL Cricket: Week 5 Part 2

The middle eleven games of the week are contained in this post, hopefully to be live by the end of Thursday night.

Mercedes-Benz Field, Harrison: Crystal slapped a quick 390 for Queens in a solid opener. Slinks continued to look shaky, especially at home, striking only 128 for Harrison in this game. Kayla carved out 774 for the Flames, rapidly extending their lead. Twinkie II got much of it back, slapping a crisp 673 for the Specters to keep them on the fringe. Max produced another 391 for Queens in a decent showing. Sydney's 280 caused Harrison to slip a little farther behind as the game reaches its late stages. Paige pummeled an additional 808 for the Flames, likely putting them far enough ahead with their final of 2363 to presume a win is coming their way. Brownie played well, posting 472, but the Specters suffered defeat at 1553. Queens moves up to 3-4, while Harrison sits at 7-6.

Nissan Infinity Stadium, Infinity: The West Division takes the spotlight for this game. Watermelon fell out of form a bit, taking only 215 for Pearl despite a strong swing. Smudge crushed 949 for Infinity, establishing a big lead for the underwhelming hosts. Neopolitan hit a meager 108 for the Surfers, putting them in further trouble. Shelley didn't take the most orthodox approach, but still smacked 457 for the Torpedoes to add onto their lead. Wings stepped up for Pearl, blasting 1465 to give them the lead in dramatic fashion. The intent succeeded, as a rattled Gabe hit a measly 98 for Infinity. Cowzart swung 378 for the Surfers, capping their total at 2166. Whiskers got stopped with 253 after she couldn't corral an odd bounce, and the Torpedoes took arguably their unluckiest loss of the season with 1757. Pearl jumps up to 7-2 with the division win, while Infinity is now down to 1-8.

Pepsi Prestige Park, Lighton: The first match in the infamous Cola War derby, so named for the teams' sponsors, goes here. The Coca-Cola-backed Boston got an average start on Patches' 266. Pepsi-backed Lighton had a slight lead after the captains, with Acorn swinging 361 for the hosts. Puff II dazzled with 526 for the Swifts in a rare strong effort. Spirit only managed 168 for the Prestige, as they fall behind at the halfway mark. Gradley chipped 229 for Boston, keeping things interesting at this point in the game. Twinkie I did about that much and nothing more, taking 223 to maintain the deficit at a reasonable level for Lighton. Sweetheart lined 320 to bring the Swifts to a final of 1341. Lydia wrangled 409 for the Prestige, but they took a narrow loss, standing at 1161. Boston played strong in the rivalry match, moving to 7-6, passing the now 4-4 Lighton side.

UPS Ground, Maplewood: The Swifts, fresh off a grinding win, travel quite a ways into the Northeast for their next match on a back-to-back. Patches did a little better for Boston with 344 in this game. Fluffina had an off game, hitting a weak 20 for Maplewood after a poor attempt to adjust to the field. Puff II produced again, smacking 544 for the Swifts to extend the lead. Bryant ripped 688 for the Lumberjacks, covering a large portion of the deficit. Gradley tapped 319 to re-up the Boston lead a little bit. Diddley's 240 caused Maplewood to slip slightly. Sweetheart didn't play so well, with her 178 putting the Swifts at 1385. Cubby made it extremely interesting, lifting 428, but the Lumberjacks suffered a loss at 1376. Boston wins the pivotal game to go to 8-6, while Maplewood takes a destructive loss that sees them at 2-5.

Google Pitch at Union Ground, Modernistic: The Shores look to reverse an 0-5 road start in this Center Division game. Bear had a good performance, scoring 535 for Whitewater. Juno pulled back with 295 for Modernistic in a fairly average effort. Twinkie III had just 192 for the Shores, leaving them vulnerable against a recently potent opponent. Right on cue, Ms. Puppy launched 445 for the Union, making it a very close game at the halfway point. Cheddar stepped up with 415 for Whitewater, firing the first salvo in the second half. Chimpy made a huge reach to take 567 for Modernistic, forever being an unpredictable player as the hosts pull ahead late. Wild Thing came through with 754 for the Shores, forcing a response as the visitors close with 1896. Puff I couldn't answer, taking only 81 for the Union as they lost with 1388. Whitewater's first road win sees them to 4-6, while Modernistic is down to 4-4 after a thriller.

AT&T Oceanside Stadium, Oceanside: Valencia tried to play too small for Golden, ending up with the small score of 32 for her effort. Snuggle's steady decline in output continued to just 208 points for Oceanside this time around. Dusty barely covered the deficit with 195 for the Pilots. Bells hit 283 for the Waves to restore the lead. Strut had 272 for Golden, again just barely covering the deficit. Alyssa gave Oceanside a more stable lead with 525 on her turn. A. Charlton had only 168 for the Pilots, and they took a rough loss with 667 overall. Pounce, in a completely unnecessary performance, crushed 2204 for the Waves to give them a final of 3220. Oceanside apparently trounced their visitors in going to 4-3, while Golden drops to 5-6 after the embarrassing ending for them.

Verizon Field, Pacific: After last week's loss to then-winless Victoria, the Volcanoes hope to have learned their lesson when it comes to playing lowly teams. Smudge did well for Infinity, posting 375 to give her team a decent start. Starlight belted 959 for Pacific in a very strong showing. Shelley took only 164 for the Torpedoes, putting them in some trouble. Ms. Kitty launched another 866 for the Volcaoes as they essentially lock the game down at the halfway mark. Gabe replied with 249 for Infinity as the game gets more out of reach. Jack kept things in check by tacking on 337 for Pacific. Whiskers got overwhelmed for the Torpedoes, with just 42 points from her for a final of 830 in the brutal loss. Leonette rallied with 490 to give the Volcanoes a massive win with a final score of 2652. Pacific gets back on track with this divisional win, improving to 6-4, while Infinity is 1-9 and has lost six straight now.

Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Delila posted 327 in a reasonable showing for Atlantic, kicking off what should be an exciting game. Watermelon edged Pearl just ahead with 376 on her turn, keeping things close early on. Amber faltered with 135 for the Pirates, putting them in danger. Neopolitan continued to be the heartbeat of the Surfers offense at home, providing them with 615 in this game. Americus scooped up 224 for Atlantic, but they are still lagging in the game. Wings had only 37 for Pearl after a bad bounce brought his turn to an early close. Dominic tried but failed to cover the deficit, with his 143 making it a final of 829 in the Pirates loss. Cowzart produced 295 for the Surfers to secure their win at 1323. Pearl stays perfect at home, and they are now 8-2 overall, while Atlantic slides to 8-6.

Tridents Park sponsored by Ford, Pronger: Boots lined 480 for Southridge to get the game going. Strawberry kept Pronger within range, driving 441 for the hosts to make it close early on. Debby hammered out 1029 for the Defenders to give them a more solid lead with her big performance. Hoot fired back with 408 for the Tridents, getting some of the damage undone. J. Garcia posted 223 for Southridge, potentially leaving the door slightly ajar with the middling effort. Precious didn't capitalize for Pronger, actually making it worse by scoring just 184. Shaggy had a surprising 933 for the Defenders, finalizing their score at 2665 in a likely victory. Paps had just 216 for the Tridents, and they took a tough loss with 1249. Southridge makes the jump to 3-8, edging closer to the now 3-7 Pronger side.

Ebay Center, Queens: Starlight staked out a reasonable lead for Pacific with 438 to lead off the game. Crystal stumbled, picking up only 48 for Queens as the game gets off to a lopsided start. Ms. Kitty erased all doubt for the Volcanoes, blasting 1392 to pad their lead to a likely unreachable level. Kayla shot back with 399 for the Flames, putting a small dent in the deficit. Jack responded very effectively for Pacific, slicing 572 to extend their lead even more as the game hurtles to the finish. Max posted 457 for Queens as the deficit continues to grow slightly. Leonette smacked 441 to finish off the Volcanoes score at 2843, which will probably end up as a win. Paige scored a light 108, giving the Flames only 1012 in the end. Pacific continues to be an inconsistent high-offense team, now standing at 7-4, while Queens drops to 3-5 after taking a hard loss.

Kraft Crowns Park, Royal: The final game of the segment features teams tentatively doing well so far. Snowball continues to impress in road games, slapping 712 to begin in this game. Frosty's well-documented home struggles reared their head for a fifth straight game, as she scored just 63 in this appearance. Dreamy added 415 to the Blades lead in a strong showing. Jake was caught mid-swing when a bad bounce caused him to mishit a ball and end up with 129 for the Crowns. Shawn curated another 1109 for Swordpoint, virtually securing the victory for the visitors now. Marsell plucked 369 for Royal to give them a more respectable score. Stealth just tapped 146 for the Blades, giving them a final of 2382 in a remarkable effort. Nightfur had a weak 80 points to give the Crowns 641 in the loss. Swordpoint's outburst got them to 7-2, while Royal drops to 3-3.

The next segment may be published tomorrow, and definitely no later than Sunday night.
