Here's the final segment of week 12, which serves as the cutoff for preliminary impressions by players for the purposes of the making CCC teams. All core clubs will have all players going, while four of the Humanity/Reality players will get some down time. The initial rosters will be posted after this segment's standings update. With that bit of news out of the way, we get the week started with...
Microsoft Pitch at Del Sur: Somehow, these two busy teams haven't met yet, but they'll get started tonight. Kiwi drilled 589 for Terrace City to open the game. Panda continued to sputter in home games, taking 176 for Southern in this appearance. Jennifer provided a solid backing for Kiwi, as the Knights' second hitter lined another 611 to extend the lead. Shannon mistimed her swing, scoring a measly 9 for the Monarchs as they look out of form. Oreo suffered a strange bounce that ended her effort at 562, but Terrace City is in virtually no danger at this stage of the game. Kirstin tried to pop a ball off her backhand, but it ended up falling just out of reach onto the wicket, giving Southern a 400-point showing. Stripes put up 224 for the Knights, icing their score at 1986 in an expected win. Nicole's 126 left the Monarchs well short at 711 in their eighth straight home loss. Terrace City comes away with the win in the first ever meeting for these teams, improving to 15-11, while Southern drops to 9-20, the first team to lose 20 games this season.
GE Stadium, Southridge: The Defenders look to continue recovering, while the Gems look to stymie that effort. Smokey grabbed 506 to start off for Diamond. Boots countered with 594 to give Southridge a marginal lead early in the game. Citrus put up 295 for the Gems against her former team, an acceptable effort. Debby slipped with 160 for the Defenders, and they have fallen slightly behind halfway through the game. Pedey stood tall with 393 for Diamond, adding onto their lead well. J. Garcia countered with 481 for Southridge, keeping things close yet again as the final players step up to bat. Cassandra may have squandered it for the Gems, with her 256 giving them 1450 total, a vulnerable score. Shaggy supplied 312 for the Defenders, edging them to a win with 1547. Southridge gets a much needed victory, jumping to 8-18, while Diamond is now at 13-13.
Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint: The #2 team in the league faces a red-hot Tridents side in what should end up a good battle. Strawberry put up points quickly, but faltered at 270 for Pronger, a modest performance. Snowball couldn't do anything with the high-arcing ball that ended her turn, but she went out with 496 for Swordpoint. Hoot answered with 558 for the Tridents, giving them a strong second effort. Dreamy couldn't recover it all, scoring only 216 for the Blades. Precious flubbed her turn, scoring 28 for Pronger, clearly a frustrating outing for the veteran. Shawn did enough to make it interesting, taking on 147 for Swordpoint as the pitch conditions have gotten extremely poor. Paps took 232 to give the Tridents a final of 1088, leaving them vulnerable. Stealth held on, slicing 295 to give the Blades the win with 1154. Swordpoint has won five straight at home (11-1 at home on the season) to ascend to 18-5, while Pronger's four-game win streak gets snapped as they fall back to 11-13.
Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The Blades get their second game of a doubleheader, heading north to face a more daunting foe. Snowball picked up 346 for Swordpoint in this one. Kiwi slugged 1323 for Terrace City on her turn, giving the hosts a massive initial lead. The bounces continued to go against the Blades, with Dreamy submitting a meager 76 on her turn. Jennifer again stayed strong, smacking 696 for the Knights to pad the lead. Her close friend Shawn managed only 245 for Swordpoint. Oreo kept her foot down on the gas for Terrace City, pummeling 891 to extend their lead with. The Blades saw just 225 from Stealth, giving them a minor final score of 892 in a brutal loss. Stripes tacked on 320 for the Knights, producing their final score of 3230. Terrace City made a big statement with this win, rising to 16-11 while bumping Swordpoint to 18-6, allowing the gap between first and second to grow significantly.
Apple Park, Todavía: Two proud teams meet in this game. Tigerette knocked 747 for Commerce, staking out a strong opening salvo. Easter got a bit of it back with 324 for Todavía, but they face a significant deficit early on. Ice Cream flopped with 112 for the Tradewinds, leaving the door slightly ajar. Sierra regained some of it, but her 290 for the Stills leaves them behind by a bit still. Lionel tapped 184 for Commerce, testing their luck as much as possible with a second dud effort. Leonardo cut the deficit a little more, picking up a reasonable 288 for Todavía with a player each to go. Lorde lined 495 for the Tradewinds, putting them at 1538 total. Sparkles got stunned by an odd bounce right off the base of her bat, deflecting out of bounds to end her contributions at 51 and send the Stills to a loss with 953. Commerce stands just barely in sixth at 19-9, while bumping Todavía to 12-13 with the unfortunate loss.
Cisco Tysini Field, Tysini: Two surprise teams take the pitch in the southwest. Delila continued her rampaging campaign with another 801 for Atlantic, setting up a large lead. Princess caught the edge of the boundary, posting only 264 for Tysini as they face an early deficit. Amber screwed up and suffered a deflection that ended her turn at 9 points for the Pirates. Leandra tallied 311 in a counterattack for the Hummingbirds, putting a dent in the deficit. Americus faltered with 227 for Atlantic, leaving them somewhat vulnerable. Charli had a measly 25 for Tysini, leaving them in danger of taking a loss after her poor showing. Dominic erased any doubts for the Pirates, cobbling 793 to give them 1830 in the end. Bright's 75 sank the Hummingbirds in an uncharacteristically poor game, ending with 675 in the loss. Atlantic's fourth straight road win takes them to 16-10 on a five-game overall winning streak, while Tysini sees a four-game home and overall winning streak snap to send them into sixth place at 16-8.
Sprint Pitch, Victoria: The Spurs try to build on recent success, while the Shores look to shake recent struggles. Bear churned out 377 for Whitewater, a solid opener for the game. Spice edged Victoria just slightly ahead, scoring 407 on her turn. Twinkie III had one of her more vintage performances, clubbing 697 for the Shores to create a bigger lead. B. Chapman got 451 back for the Spurs, keeping them in range despite the loss of a lead. Cheddar slipped up with a sloppy 193 for Whitewater, opening them up to a counterattack. Yekaterina cashed in on her opportunity, slamming 801 for Victoria to regain a lead, and this one with more strength behind it. Wild Thing manufactured 508 for the Shores, giving them 1775 and forcing a response from the hosts. Kavan chipped 247 to give the Spurs the win with 1906. Victoria looked confident in this outing, improving to 8-16, while Whitewater continues to plummet to 9-18 on a four-game losing streak.
Volkswagen Stadium, Viewpoint Sound: The Arrows leave home for the first time in five weeks, with the sheltered side seeking their first road win of the season against a confident Meteors squad. Sally popped a quick 295 for Archtown, a reasonable effort. Mr. Snowman took in only 51 for Viewpoint Sound, remaining remarkably inconsistent at home. Sleepy B. added 215 for the Arrows, allowing their hosts to remain in range. Mams cut into the deficit well with 310 for the Meteors, keeping things close halfway through the game. Ruby rallied for 379 for Archtown, giving them a bit more breathing room. Zach pulled back with 439 for Viewpoint Sound, setting up a grand finale for this match. Dusky cranked out 409 to give the Arrows a final of 1298. Kelly's 378 was solid, but the Meteors suffered a loss with 1178. Archtown gets their first road win (with their lowest road output) to get to 9-8, while Viewpoint Sound is down to 9-13 with the loss.
Home Depot Forum, Web City: The all-of-a-sudden streaking Spiders face an explosive Knights side. Kiwi blitzed with 892 for Terrace City, giving them a very strong position to start from. Shadow did all he could to prepare for a fast-paced ball on his backhand, but he neglected the pitch in front of him and it sent him packing with 405 for Web City. Jennifer got most of that back with 364 for the Knights, working a good pace until taking a bad angle for one swing. Rainmane had only 33 for the Spiders, wasting a chance to catch up. Oreo kept Terrace City on track, swinging another 401 to protect their lead. Sugar couldn't help Web City much, posting 345 in a decent performance. Stripes dropped 355 to end the Knights offense at 2012 in what they expect to be another victory. Shiny's 73 confirmed the loss for the Spiders, with a total of 856. Terrace City is back to their early-season form, now at 17-11, while Web City's five-game home winning streak snapped as they fell to 8-11.
BMW RockDome, Westside: The Rockers take on regional rivals in the Tradewinds, who are the heavy favorite as they sit near the perch. Tigerette slipped up a bit for Commerce, producing 283 on her opening turn. Misty's 359 for Westside gave them a slight lead early on. Ice Cream upped the ante with 447 for the Tradewinds, including a deft backhand play after a risky deflection. The Rockers countered with 408 from Goatee, retaining a minuscule lead. Lionel blasted 1039 for Commerce, putting a ton of pressure on the hosts. Midnight started well but faded to just 295 for Westside against her former team, putting them at a deep deficit late in the game. Lorde tapped 153 for the Tradewinds, putting them at a total of 1922. Chicky Phil rolled 286 to put the Rockers at a loss with a final of 1348. Commerce's fourth straight road win sends them to 20-9 and fourth in the league, while Westside sputters again to 7-13.
Samsung Whitewater Stadium, Whitewater: The Prestige won at home a few weeks ago, and they want to pluck the sweep off the struggling Shores in their own house. Acorn swatted 564 for Lighton in a good lead off turn. Bear had only 164 for Whitewater, and they face an early deficit. Spirit poked 215 for the Prestige, maintaining their lead. Twinkie III got a small portion back with her 242-point effort. Twinkie I kept Lighton going in the proper direction, contributing 272 to the offense. Cheddar had the right idea but eased up too soon, collecting 263 for Whitewater as the situation becomes more dire for the hosts. Lydia sealed the Prestige's efforts with 439, giving them a final of 1490. Wild Thing poked 108 to give the Shores a loss with 777. Lighton jumps to 13-10, while Whitewater collapses to 9-19, having lost five straight games.
That's it for Week 12. Keep your eyes on this blog for CCC news later tonight.
