We begin this final segment of the week with an underwhelming game in...
Microsoft Pitch at Del Sur: The Union are right back at it, traveling to the coast where a loss means elimination against the worst team in the league. Juno opened the game with 407 for Modernistic, having to shrug off three balls at once to keep going at one point. Panda gave Southern a fighting chance with his 629 to take the initial lead. Ms. Puppy got beaten with good bowling, scoring a weak 133 for the Union. Shannon tacked on another 514 for the Monarchs in one of their best games this season. Chimpy supplied Modernistic with 401, but they are still trailing. Kirstin left Southern vulnerable in hitting only 150 in a difficult appearance. Puff I rallied with 575 for the Union, and they finished with 1516, forcing a response from the hosts. Nicole proved worthy for the Monarchs, and her 379 carried them to a win with 1672. Southern is now 15-43, while Modernistic gets eliminated at 21-37 on a sixth straight loss.
GE Stadium, Southridge: The Blades look for a sweep of the Defenders, which would help them in the fight for first in the West Division. Snowball came back into better form with 373 for Swordpoint to lead things off. Boots did alright with 282 for Southridge, but the hosts are a tad behind early on. Dreamy kept the Blades looking sharp, hitting 414 to add to their lead. Debby couldn't keep up with 144 for the Defenders, and they find themselves in more danger. Shawn cancelled out that damage with 145 of his own for Swordpoint. J. Garcia flipped 504 for Southridge, making the game extremely close with the final players coming to bat. Stealth's recent hot streak ended with 64 for the Blades here, giving them 996 in what will likely be a loss now. Shaggy replied with a pathetic 33 for the Defenders, and they ended up with the loss on 963 total. Swordpoint got away with this one to stay on the West Division leading pace at 37-21, while Southridge's heartbreaking loss may also break their backs, sending them to 25-33.
Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint: This may be the biggest game in the West Division all year, with the co-leaders meeting for the second time. The Blades have the chance to sweep, but whoever wins will be in the driver's seat for the division title. Starlight didn't play the cleanest turn, but she ended up with 675 in a wonderful start for Pacific. Snowball couldn't fully break her slump, hitting a measly 96 for Swordpoint. Ms. Kitty added 345 for the Volcanoes as they hold control in this game. Dreamy pummeled 743 to drag the Blades back into the game. Jack made a mess of his turn, with only 84 points to add to Pacific's score. Shawn chipped 192 to get Swordpoint a little bit closer late in the game. Leonette didn't secure the game, as her 227 left the Volcanoes vulnerable at 1331. Stealth stepped up with 334 to give the Blades the win on 1365 overall. Swordpoint has won seven straight and leads the division at 38-21, while Pacific gets bumped back to 37-22 as their road play is cratering.
Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The Knights still have a long home winning streak, and they'd like to extend it against a bitter rival that beat them the first time around. Juno lifted 521 to give Modernistic a nice start to the game. Kiwi fired back with a relentless 733 for Terrace City against her former team from which she left on bitter terms. Ms. Puppy barely covered the deficit with 248 for the Union. Jennifer nearly matched it with 243 in a mediocre appearance for the Knights. Chimpy fumbled his way to 153, allowing Modernistic to lose pace and fall behind. Oreo got stalled by a high-arcing ball and a fast offering that followed, cutting her town with 176 as she adds marginally to the Terrace City lead. Puff I had a weak 144 as the Union complete their loss at 1066. Stripes tapped 160 to give the Knights 1312 in their twelfth straight home win. Terrace City remains threatening in the playoffs, going to 36-21, while Modernistic drops to 21-38 on their seventh straight loss.
Apple Park, Todavía: The Crowns got the first game in this season series, but this is favorable for the Stills to push towards the playoffs with. Frosty produced a middling 248 for Royal, not the best start to the game. Todavía's Easter went on a tirade as she was judged out with 9 points, putting her team behind early. The league may assess supplemental discipline. Jake didn't truly capitalize with only 233 for the Crowns. Sierra got some back with 320 for the Stills, but they need more. Marsell failed to impress anyone, hitting a poor 192 for Royal as they don't put much effort into their spoiler efforts. Leonardo slugged 731 to put Todavía comfortably ahead with a player each to go. Nightfur nearly took one off the hands, ending with a paltry 57 as the Crowns lose with 730. Sparkles had 104, icing the Stills win at 1164. Todavía moves to 29-31, while Royal drops to 18-40. After the game, the UPCL announced Easter's suspension being for the entirety of Week 30, which will amount to the Stills' game against the Prestige. The Stills have signed 2016-17 rookie-to-be Celestia on an emergency basis for the single game.
Cisco Tysini Field, Tysini: A bit of positioning jockeying could occur here, as the Swifts look to sweep the Hummingbirds. Patches earned a replay after a technical error, and wasted it as she scored 64 for Boston. Princess crushed a massive 1435 for Tysini, leaving no doubt whose house this game is in. Puff II had a sloppy backhand flip, but it was a misread angle just after that time that caused her to have only 247 for the Swifts. Leandra hit 336 for the Hummingbirds to add a bit to the lead. Gradley came down from his previously lofty heights, hitting a meager 48 for Boston in this game. Charli didn't secure the game totally with her 36 for Tysini, but it's likely the hosts will win. Sweetheart had 300 for the Swifts, but they take a brutal loss at 659. Bright brought a simple finish with 104 to give the Hummingbirds 1911 in the win. Tysini cruised to a win to go to 37-21, good for second in the West, while Boston is 40-20, hurting their chances of stealing second overall from the Tradewinds.
Sprint Pitch, Victoria: File under filler, as the Arrows look to sweep the Spurs with both far out of contention. Sally belted 994 for Archtown, playing a dangerous game with a ball inches from her wicket but dead on the floor until she knocked it back. Spice got twisted up and had only 209 for Victoria. Sleepy B. posted 383 for the Arrows, adding nicely to their lead. B. Chapman poked 153 for the Spurs, but they look overwhelmed halfway through the game. Ruby lined another 472 for Archtown, continuing their strong play. Yekaterina had a meager 103 for Victoria, and they're destined to lose this one. Dusky's 152 put the Arrows at 2001 total in what should be an easy win. Kavan offered no resistance, scoring 112 as the Spurs lose with 577. Archtown is up to 22-32 while Victoria slips to 20-38.
Volkswagen Stadium, Viewpoint Sound: The Surfers look to sweep a West Division rival in this meeting against the Meteors. Watermelon launched 455 to give Pearl a good opening attack. Mr. Snowman had a decent response, hitting 314 to keep Viewpoint Sound in range. Neopolitan ripped 918 for the Surfers, likely putting their lead at a more secure level. Mams had no chance of keeping up, taking only 199 for the Meteors. Wings batted 304 for Pearl, keeping their lead fairly steady. Zach saw a ball get stuck on his backhand, and two more offerings jammed his bat, giving him a measly 40 for Viewpoint Sound, who are well on their way to a loss. Cowzart posted 230 to give the Surfers 1907 in a likely victory. Kelly tried a comeback with 623 for the Meteors, but they lost with 1176 in a tough match. Pearl is a step closer to clinching, now with a record of 32-25, tying the Prestige for eleventh in the league, while Viewpoint Sound is on the fringe of elimination at 22-36, with a fifth straight loss and a 3-16 division record being two of many negatives.
Home Depot Forum, Web City: This could be a blessing for the Spiders if they can sweep, or an invitation for management to leave the team if they fail. Panda had only 51 at the start for Southern, gifting the hosts a chance to set the tone. Shadow pieced together 324 for Web City, giving them a noticeable but unimpressive lead early on. Shannon answered with 366 for the Monarchs, covering the deficit. Rainmane used an aggressive backhand to keep her turn going, only to deflect a ball out of bounds off her wrists to give the Spiders 135 and a much narrower lead. Kirstin boosted the challenge, slapping 792 for Southern as they soar far ahead. Sugar posted a pathetic 48 as Web City may be drilling right on through rock bottom. Nicole swatted 584 to put the Monarchs at 1793 in what will probably be a win. Shiny came up very short with 128 for the Spiders, giving them a loss on 635. Southern has won two straight, a major achievement for them, and stand at 16-43, while Web City might as well forfeit the rest of their games given their collapse to 26-32.
BMW RockDome, Westside: The Rockers can sweep the Spurs, tie the Stills for seventeenth, and officially eliminate three teams with a win right here. Spice had a poor start with 32 for Victoria. Misty hit 434 for Westside in a solid opener to give them a significant lead. B. Chapman replied with a meager 80 for the Spurs, and it's clear they're not up to task in this one. Goatee slammed 770 to lift the Rockers lead to excessive heights. Yekaterina collected 438 for Victoria, to at least give them some respectability in a trying game. Midnight kept things steady, providing 363 for Westside in a solid outing. Kavan faltered with 128 to put the Spurs at 678 in a brutal loss. Chicky Phil put up 506 to ice the Rockers win at 2073, their ninth straight home win that has fueled their charge up the standings. With the series sweep, Westside is 29-31, while Victoria goes down to 20-39 after a seventh straight loss. Caught in the crossfire of this game are the Flames, Meteors, and Shores, who are all now eliminated as it will take a minimum of a 29-35 record to get to the playoffs, a mark they can't attain.
Samsung Whitewater Stadium, Whitewater: The Torpedoes lay their streak on the line again, but they beat the Shores pretty thoroughly early in the season and are better now than they were then. Smudge knocked 1031, leaving no doubt from the start for Infinity. Bear answered with 449 for Whitewater, but they still face a large deficit. Shelley had a bad game with a paltry 64 for the Torpedoes. Twinkie III took advantage with 515 for the Shores, shrinking the deficit quite a bit at the midway mark. Gabe chopped 550 for Infinity to stave off the most recent threat effectively. Cheddar couldn't keep up, taking just 124 as Whitewater falls farther behind again. Whiskers tapped 192 to give the Torpedoes 1837 in another strong team effort. Wild Thing's 152 gave the Shores a loss with 1240 to close out the week. Infinity makes it sixteen straight wins in going to 36-23, while Whitewater is 23-37 after the loss.
The standings will be updated shortly after a fun week of action. Only three more league weeks remain this year.
