UPCL Cricket: Preseason Part 2

Here's the other half of the preseason games to wrap up for the weekend before moving into the regular season next week. We begin in...

Nike Field, Commerce: Snowball started with 450 for Swordpoint, looking already in solid form. Tigerette navigated early trouble for Commerce, producing 208 to get the hosts going. Dreamy tallied 197 for the Blades, keeping their lead steady. Ice Cream couldn't recover anything as she ended with 96 for the Tradewinds. Shawn slapped a quick 183 for Swordpoint, as the game is leaning low-scoring. Lionel drilled 691 for Commerce, establishing a lead for the hosts. Stealth batted 318 for the Blades, forcing a response from the hosts. Lorde stepped up with 209 for the Tradewinds, good enough for them to walk away with a narrow victory.

Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint: Delila couldn't disperse her swings quickly enough, settling at 58 points for Atlantic. Snowball crushed 1046 for Swordpoint, amassing a huge lead in the second game of a back-to-back for her team. Amber hit 162 for the Pirates as they continue to struggle. Dreamy took 28 for the Blades in a faltering showing. Americus fired back with 669 for Atlantic, refusing to let her team go down quietly despite the deficit. Shawn stumbled to 25 points for Swordpoint, allowing the game to get closer still. Dominic pounded another 840 for the Pirates, flipping the script on the game as the visitors show off a more resilient approach than they ever have before. Stealth managed 144 for the Blades, who squandered early momentum to take a brutal loss.

Verizon Field, Pacific: Slinks began with 264 for Harrison, a solid opening for the beleaguered captain. Starlight countered with 208 for Pacific, keeping things close. Twinkie II belted 433 for the Specters, continuing her ascent to star status. Ms. Kitty fired back with 520 for the Volcanoes, putting them slightly ahead at the halfway point in the game. Harrison's Sydney kept the visitors on track, ripping a crisp 454 to regain the lead at least temporarily. Jack slipped up with 81 for Pacific, making the deficit very difficult to overcome. Brownie blasted 919 for the Specters, solidifying the lead at the end of the game. Leonette grabbed 392 for the Volcanoes, but it was too late to avoid a loss in the tough finish to the game.

Cisco Tysini Field, Tysini: Snuggle got things moving with 359 for Oceanside, a strong start for the veteran captain. Princess couldn't find her rhythm, ending with 46 for Tysini. Bells took just 72 for the Waves, as offense has stagnated slightly. Leandra botched her turn for the Hummingbirds, scoring 36 in a poor effort. Alyssa did just as poorly for Oceanside, producing 48 points in a quick exit. Charli scored only 64 points in another pathetic showing for Tysini. Pounce likely sealed the game by knocking 424 for the Waves. Bright clobbered 295 for the Hummingbirds in a failed comeback attempt, giving the Waves a troubling preseason win that both teams will walk away from with more questions than answers.

Nissan Infinity Stadium, Infinity: Pearl's Watermelon decimated the ball early on, crushing 1156 in her debut in the lead-off spot. Smudge did plenty of damage herself for Infinity, taking 892 back in another brilliant preseason effort from the captain. Neopolitan misread a bounce and took 218 for the Surfers. Shelley smacked 568 for the Torpedoes, edging them slightly ahead in a year that they will need to prove management right about keeping the same personnel from last season. Wings slapped 264 for Pearl, regaining a smaller lead. Gabe dealt another big blow for Infinity, unleashing 407 to extend the lead farther. Cowzart took 327 for the Surfers, forcing the hosts to make at least a reasonable move at the end. Whiskers did enough, hitting 89 for the Torpedoes to walk away with a competitive but narrow victory.

Coca-Cola Field: The most high-profile preseason game kicks off with reigning MVP Bear scoring 650 in a performance that indicates he'll remain strong for the upcoming season. Patches got bowled over in her appearance, ending with 57 for Boston in a disappointing tune-up. Twinkie III could only wrangle 33 for the Shores, keeping things interesting. Puff II had a bad angle on her turn, hitting 39 for the Swifts. Cheddar smacked another 420 for Whitewater to extend their lead. Gradley shrunk the deficit for Boston, pummeling 726 in a well-played showing. Wild Thing tacked on 131 for the Shores, still in good position at the end. Sweetheart had just 119 for the Swifts, giving them a loss.

Amazon Field, Golden: Slinks stayed solid with 328 for Harrison to begin. Valencia launched 542 for Golden, giving the hosts a lead. Twinkie II had a bad hit that put her at 146 for the Specters as they can't quite keep pace. Dusty, now batting second for the Pilots in their lineup tweak for the year, crushed 719 to keep her team in control. Sydney answered with a strong 438 for Harrison, as the rookie continues to impress her team. Strut took only 324 for the Golden, which is serviceable in this game. Brownie matched that with 324 for the Specters, but they took a pretty tough loss. A. Charlton took only 60 points for the Pilots, but it was enough to ice the victory.

Microsoft Pitch at Del Sur: A former rivalry series has lost a bit of luster, but these two teams look to write a new chapter in this preseason meeting. Chris produced a solid 320 for Capital City to lead off. Panda ripped 407 for Southern, keeping it as a close game. Missy chipped 144 for the Sharpshooters, leaving them in trouble. Shannon grabbed 290 for the Monarchs, as they appear better than they were last season. Sprinkles had a swing-and-miss to end her turn at 113 for Capital City, slipping farther behind. Kirstin belted 742 for Southern, extending their lead to a safe margin. Dani swung 239 for the Sharpshooters as they took the loss. Nicole's 554 iced the Monarchs victory, and what a victory it was for being only preseason.

Home Depot Forum, Web City: Graham crushed 639 for Eastside to get them off to a wonderful start. Shadow got 447 back for a notoriously resilient Web City side. Chelsea could only manage 67 for the Sharks, making a mess of their lead. Rainmane slapped 207 for the Spiders, pulling them a bit closer. Taylor got jammed during her turn, scoring just 58 for Eastside as their lead shrinks again. Sugar, playing against her former team, drilled 243 for Web City to put them in the lead. Niki pulled in just 104 for the Sharks, as they will settle with an unfortunate loss with scoring depth a primary concern heading into the season. Shiny lined 464 to secure the Spiders victory in a convincing fashion.

Volkswagen Stadium, Viewpoint Sound: The final preseason game began with Fluffina sawing off her turn at 39 points for Maplewood, a weak start. Mr. Snowman swatted 324 for Viewpoint Sound for the early lead. Bryant answered back with 370 for the Lumberjacks, keeping the game competitive. Mams poked 108 for the Meteors, keeping them slightly ahead at the halfway point in the game. Maplewood's Diddley gave them at least a temporary lead by hitting 316. Zach faltered with 72 for Viewpoint Sound. Cubby didn't do much to secure the lead for the Lumberjacks, adding 160. Kelly completed the collapse, scoring a meager 49 for the Meteors as they lost.

The next cricket action you'll see will count in the standings for the regular season.
