2018 Qualifiers - Day 9

We're back with an expected 40 games today. First up...

The Stonebridge Wolves veteran Frosty shoots 9-ball with the red cue in a two-day back-to-back. Frosty had an awful outing, apparently unready to play when called upon. She needed 23 shots with one error to complete the outing after an empty break, chasing most of the balls for multiple shots. The Harrison Specters rookie Rudolph is next, using the silver cue in 9-ball. Rudolph could hardly do better, taking nothing on the break and gathering four errors before completing the effort in 22 shots. Shooting precision has been completely lacking so far. North Modernistic Nighthawks captain Peach goes third today, playing 9-ball with the blue cue. Peach needed only 12 shots without an error in her performance, taking the pressure off the league for better showings despite an empty break. The Southridge Defenders sophomore Bianca keeps the blue cue in action for her 10-ball qualifier. Bianca played admirably this time, needing 14 shots without an error to get through the game. She had nothing on the break, but her early play made up for that nicely. The Stonebridge Wolves rookie Vladimir Vasilyev closes the group with his 10-ball game, using the red cue. Vladimir had nothing on the break, a running theme today, and he did take two errors, but experienced a surge of good play after each one, enough to help him close with 16 shots total.

Group two leads off with the Maplewood Lumberjacks rookie Summer playing 8-ball with the red cue. Summer had a good performance despite an empty break. She missed only three times in the game, completing the appearance in 18 shots without an error for a standout effort. Viewpoint Sound Meteors captain Mams is set to play today's seventh game, also using the red cue for 8-ball. Mams had a much rougher outing, needing 25 shots with one error to get through the appearance, and she also tacked one more onto the league's empty break streak. Up next, the Midland Predators' Fuchsia is set to play 8-ball with the red cue. Fuchsia had one of the best performances in the event, making a ball on the break and taking no errors over 16 shots, putting her right at the top for quality. Lionel keeps the red cue in action for his 9-ball qualifier, a risky time for such things for the Commerce Tradewinds veteran. Lionel had a ball on the break, but stalled in tight quarters early on with two errors. Once he could open his shot up, he completed the game in 16 shots, an alright effort from the veteran. Rounding out the group is Pronger Tridents rookie Lize, who will still take it cautiously during her injury recovery as she plays 8-ball with the red cue. Lize feasted on short shots after a light break, but she did take one error later in the game. She would finish at 22 shots in a decent outing for the rookie.

The third group gets going with Capital City Sharpshooters rookie Pauline finally returning to play 8-ball with the silver cue. Pauline showed some rust early in the game, but she stayed error-free despite the frustrating beginning after an empty break. Pauline settled into a nice groove in the middle before slipping to 24 shots by the end. The Golden Pilots newcomer Sparkles gets the next game, shooting 10-ball with the silver cue. Sparkles was forced to take an error in an impossible position early on, but she didn't let it get her down. She would close the empty break-led game with 17 shots, double-potting the 8 to the top right and the 10 to the bottom right on the last shot. Tysini Hummingbirds newcomer Paps is the next player drawn, using the blue cue for his 8-ball game. Paps didn't have much on his turn, taking two errors and nothing on the break in the game before ending with 25 shots after a slow finish due to a lack of clear shots. Gal Gadot, the North Modernistic Nighthawks rookie, is set to shoot the 14th game today, using the blue cue for 9-ball. The only excitement for her game came on the break, where she made a ball but also scratched. Gal closed things down nicely after that, finishing in 14 shots with just the one error. Another rookie, Mitchell of the Harrison Specters, ends the group with his 8-ball game with the silver cue. Mitchell made two balls on the break and had a couple of good runs early on, but he squandered most of that good play by chasing the 11 at the end, finishing without an error at 19 shots.

Batch four begins as the Royal Crowns stalwart Jake plays 8-ball with the blue cue. Jake didn't get anything on the break, but he had a solid outing after that. He did pick up one error for a scratch, but he had the game done in 20 shots, a strong showing from the reliable veteran. Moving along, the Terrace City Knights veteran Oreo plays 10-ball with the red cue. Oreo had a strong start despite an early error, which would be her only one of the game. She had nothing on the break, and faded to 18 shots late in the game. Rainmane of the Midland Predators goes next, shooting her 9-ball game with the blue cue. Rainmane made a ball on the break, but she couldn't settle her shot down. She didn't take any errors, but her inefficiency on each target ball pushed her score up to 17 shots for the game. Up next, the Golden Pilots legend Dusty makes her long awaited debut in 7-ball with the red cue for her first game of the year. Dusty, debuting well behind the peak of activity in the event, had 15 shots with one error and an empty break for her first game of the year. The 20th game of the day finishes this batch, which sees Brownie of the Tysini Hummingbirds do 9-ball with the blue cue. Brownie made a ball on the break, but immediately took her only error on her first shot after the break. Brownie would close with a good 14 shots for the game.

Group five opens with Nicole making her Lighton Prestige debut in 7-ball with the silver cue. Nicole picked up no errors and nothing on the break in the game. It came down to her being a bit slow to get position for her shots, which resulted in scoring 15 for the appearance. Her former teammate and the Capital City Sharpshooters captain Chris debuts next, also shooting 7-ball but with the red cue. Chris showed a bit more comfort in this performance than most recent players, needing only 10 shots despite his single error coming as a scratch on the break. The Pearl Surfers newcomer Bright is next, shooting 8-ball with the silver cue. Bright made a ball on the break, and his shooting was dynamic enough to overcome his one error on a scratch to end at 19 shots for the game. The 24th game of the day goes to Commerce Tradewinds rookie Rosemary, who plays 10-ball with the silver cue. Rosemary had a tough outing, making a ball on the break but continually failing to get good positions on her shots. She would rack up four errors in 21 shots for the game. At the back of the group, the Pacific Volcanoes veteran Leonette brings the blue cue up for 10-ball. Leonette was well on her way to another dud performance, taking three errors for illegal contact after an empty break, but she made the 6-10 combination to the bottom left when the chance emerged to end at a reasonable 16 shots.

The sixth group starts with the Central Warriors captain Twilight using the silver cue for her Rotation game. Twilight survived a scary start without a ball on the break, and she made a few shots. She would take two errors, but her late surge helped her finish in 27 shots for a solid performance. Following that, the Harrison Specters' resident villain Lexi Woode shoots 8-ball with the blue cue. Lexi made quite the impact without a ball falling on the break. She played with the solid first, and then enjoyed a good run with the stripes before closing on 18 shots without an error. Everton Eagles star Puff III is next to play, using the silver cue for 7-ball in today's 28th game. Puff III needed only 12 shots in the game, taking no errors but also having an empty break to begin her season. Easter, the Todavía Stills captain, is set to play her Rotation game with the blue cue. Easter didn't have many problems, choosing to err intentionally twice to go with two others for a total of six errors in the game. She mad a ball on the break and was done in 28 shots for a solid outing. Finishing the group is the Hummingbirds' Brownie, who is back for 10-ball with the blue cue. Brownie got the 10 to hang at the bottom right, and she softly positioned herself for a deflection off the 3 to end with 7 shots and no errors instead of a much longer game after an empty break.

Group seven is headed by Commerce Tradewinds captain Tigerette, who uses the blue cue in 10-ball. Tigerette had an embarrassingly weak break, and let her rage ruin her game. She had six errors, three on one play, and 25 total shots before she could close the appearance. The North Modernistic Nighthawks sophomore Luigi tries to set the league back on course, playing 9-ball with the silver cue. Luigi had a scratch on the break, yet another frustration early in games for the league today. He would take one more error for missed contact, but his early surge between the errors helped him finish with a nice 14 shots. The Royal Crowns' Jeremias plays the 33rd game today, using the red cue in 8-ball. Jeremias had a decent performance going despite his empty break, but a late fade and his only error inflated his score to 22 shots for the game. Bells will keep the event as 8-ball, but the Todavía Stills veteran shoots it with the silver cue. Bells didn't have much to complain about except going empty on the break. She cleared the table in crisp 18 shots, and could have done a little better late but she stayed error-free regardless. The Web City Spiders' Sugar wraps up the group with 8-ball and the red cue. Sugar completed the game in 18 shots, even making a ball on the break and avoiding errors for an enviable outing.

The final group sees Boston Swifts captain Patches using the silver cue in 10-ball. Patches made a ball on a very firm break, and surged through the early part of the rack. Her only error came on a scratch as she shot at the 9, but it worked out fine, and she closed with 12 shots for the game. The 37th player called today is Katelynn of the Lighton Prestige, who plays her 10-ball with the silver cue as well. Katelynn had a much worse break, and she would tack on two errors during the course of her game before wrapping it up at 20 shots in an acceptable showing. Her teammate and captain, Acorn, goes next with the red cue for 9-ball. Acorn had nothing on the break, and he took two errors, mostly on a best-case scenario play, before closing his appearance with 14 shots in a solid performance from the veteran. Following that, the Pearl Surfers' returnee Beth plays 8-ball with the silver cue for her second game since 2012. Beth had a chance to set the pace for the event, making two balls on the break and not even thinking about taking an error, but her late fade after a big early run set her at 16 shots to tie for the lead. Dominic of the Southern Monarchs ends the day with his 8-ball game, also with the silver cue. Dominic couldn't make anything on the break for himself, and he had one error late in the game before finishing with 23 shots.

Tomorrow's a regular day for both sports, but Thursday is going to be Cricket only, most likely for the Elite division.
