The first week of Premier cricket is here, after watching the lower levels play their first games. This batch starts with...
Samsung Whitewater Stadium, Whitewater: The Shores begin their campaign against the Golden Pilots, with Marsell sitting for the Shores and Sparkles on the bench for the Pilots. Valencia got beat on a deflection at 166 for Golden in a lackluster start for the visiting captain. Bear tried to reply, but a deflection also cut him down with just 57 for Whitewater. Dusty tried to make a save on her backhand but she couldn't do it, exiting with 277 as the Pilots begin to feel frustrated. Twinkie III got things on track with 603 for the Shores, pulling them far ahead at the midway point. Strut provided quite the challenge in response with 806 after working through a slow pace for the first half of his turn. Katharine covered the deficit again with 681 for Whitewater, keeping things close and in their favor as the final players come to bat. A. Charlton had 271 for the Pilots, forcing the hosts to reply to their final score of 1520. Shaggy didn't play great, but her 306 carried the Shores to a win with 1647. Whitewater starts the year 1-0, while Golden sits at 0-1 early on.
Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The Knights rest the rookie Quincy for their home opener, while the Blades scratch an injured Dreamy for their first of the year. Snowball rallied for 624 to start the game positively for Swordpoint as the only certified star in the lineup. Kiwi chipped her way to 259 for Terrace City, unable to get any extra pace on her swings to change the performance. Bandit didn't do great with 192 for the Blades, an unconvincing effort to take a starting role that he was thrust into today. Jennifer couldn't solver a cluttered pitch, accidentally pulling a ball back to end at 186 for the Knights. Stealth drilled another 752 for the Blades, bolstering their lead significantly with the standout effort. Oreo held her own for Terrace City with 720, keeping the deficit steady, which also means it's deep with little time to fix it. Jason N. provided 311 for the Blades at the end, completing their effort at 1879. Melissa made a solid effort with 395 for the Knights, but they came up short at 1560 overall. Swordpoint convincingly moves to 1-0, while Terrace City sits at 0-1.
Henry Ford Memorial Stadium, Pronger: The Tridents have a home doubleheader, and no depth with Lize out, while the Volcanoes rest Leonette to start their season. Starlight slugged 1270 to set the tone immediately for Pacific with the biggest performance of the season so far. Precious put a good dent in the deficit for Pronger with her 722, giving the game a fiery start. Ms. Kitty countered with another massive performance, ripping 921 to pad the Volcanoes lead. Zach answered with 845 for the Tridents, trying his hardest to keep the high-scoring battle competitive on both sides. Twinkie I did well with 471 for Pacific, a strong performance to keep their lead big at a critical stage in the game. Spot clobbered another 720 for Pronger, digging into the deficit before the final players' turns. Chicky Phil knocked another 640 for the Volcanoes on his turn, bringing their final score to an impressive 3302. Potter picked up 384 for the Tridents, not enough to prevent them from wasting 2671 total points in the loss. Pacific looks unstoppable early on at 1-0, while Pronger is an unlucky 0-1 with a quick turnaround to the next game.
Henry Ford Memorial Stadium, Pronger: The Tridents switch to gray jerseys but keep the lineup the same versus the Pilots, who rest A. Charlton in the second game of their pair on the road to start the year. Valencia kept a ball behind her steady until she got overwhelmed and fell with 359 for Golden, a solid turn given the circumstances. Precious looked every bit as confident as before, slicing 788 to give Pronger a nice lead. Dusty returned closer to her MVP form with 782 for the Pilots this time, covering the deficit. Zach quickly got beat with a fast offering, mowing him down at 157 for the Tridents, who trail now. Strut smacked another 926 for Golden in an excellent outing to pad their lead greatly. Spot gained 271 for Pronger in a middling turn, showing a bit of fatigue after the previous marathon-style game. Sparkles provided a solid 355 for the Pilots, giving them a final of 2422 in what should be a win. Potter hauled in 480, including a nice backhand play, but the Tridents still lost at 1696. Golden is 1-1 on the year with a much more convincing second game, while Pronger's defense seems to be the problem as they fall to 0-2.
Samsung Whitewater Stadium, Whitewater: The Shores' captain Bear is out with a right hand injury, while the Stills' rookie Anton is benched for their first game of the year. Easter had a terrible start for Todavía, taking a meager 42 points to lead things off. Twinkie III looked comfortable batting lead-off for Whitewater, collecting 520 to give the hosts an early lead. Sierra had her first effort wiped out by a technical error, and she took the replay to score 276, leaving the Stills at a slightly smaller deficit. Marsell answered quite well for the Shores, growing into the turn to score 543 as he doubled their offense. Bells picked up 290 for Todavía, not enough to threaten the hosts' lead at this point in the game. Katharine kept Whitewater strong with her 684, showing a relentless side as the hosts run away with the game. Prism hit 410 in a solid outing for the Stills, her first appearance with the team, but they lost with 1018 total. Shaggy let the game fade quickly with 128 for the Shores, capping their win at 1875. Whitewater is 2-0 on the year and showing good depth, while Todavía begins 0-1.
Nestle's Warriors Park, Central: These two teams meet for the first Generations Derby game, with Noelle resting for the Warriors and Ice Cream doing the same for the Swifts. Patches hammered 765 for Boston on her opening turn of the game, an excellent way to start the season. Twilight answered with a decent 424 for Central, keeping the game relatively close early on. Puff II covered that damage by herself with 491 for the Swifts, her strong pace helping to maintain the lead for the visitors. Dustin bounced back with 523 for the Warriors, cutting into their deficit slightly with his performance. Gradley, the ever-steady presence in the middle of the Boston lineup, lined 616 to give their lead another boost. Mario faltered with a pathetic 42 for Central, likely ruining their chances of a comeback with the poor outing. Sweetheart had only 250 for the Swifts at the end, bringing their final score to 2122 in a likely victory for the visitors. Wings showed poise under pressure, routinely using his backhand to great effect as he hit 578 for the Warriors. They still lost with 1567 total. Boston is 1-0 while Central starts at 0-1.
Henry Ford Memorial Stadium, Pronger: The Tridents wrap up their opening three-game home stand with Lize still out, while the Stills close a pair of early road games with their captain Easter resting. Sierra started off with good pace in the lead-off role, but she faltered to 174 for Todavía by the end. Precious took a dip from her recent outings, but her 365 gives Pronger a slight lead early on. Bells battled hard in a productive turn, ending at 670 for the Stills to pull them ahead confidently. Zach couldn't regain the lead for the Tridents, bowing out with 250 as he never really found a groove. Prism followed up with 688 in another big effort from Todavía's middle players, extending their lead nicely. Spot chipped 392 for Pronger in a decent outing, but they look poised to wash out the entire home stand. Anton had only 112 for the Stills at the end, potentially leaving them vulnerable at 1644. Potter saved the day for the Tridents with 751, carrying them to the win at 1758. Potter's determined surge puts Pronger at 1-2, while Todavía feels unlucky to dip to 0-2 from that game.
Apple Park, Todavía: The Stills will return Anton to the bench after blowing the last game late, while Bandit takes this one off for the Blades as Dreamy returns from a minor injury. Snowball did alright with 471 for Swordpoint at the start, exiting as she was distracted near the end of her turn. Easter's backhand effort failed her early in her turn, leaving the game with 105 for Todavía, who trail early. Dreamy replied with 536 for the Blades, showing no ill effects from her shoulder issue that took her out of the first game. Sierra supplied 380 for the Stills in her best game yet, but they remain at a deficit at the midway mark. Stealth drilled 579 for Swordpoint in another subtle but strong performance by the veteran. Bells couldn't get onto her backhand in time to make an attempt at saving a ball, ending with a solid 415 as Todavía continues to trail. Jason N. could do better with pace for the Blades, but his performance of 492 kept things steady at a final of 2078. Prism tried to rally but fell with 262 as the Stills slip again at a final of 1162. Swordpoint is now 2-0 on the year, while Todavía drops to 0-3.
BMW RockDome, Westside: The Rockers open the year with a six-game home stand, while the Knights get their first road game. Jennifer rests for the Knights, while Cowzart starts on the bench for the Rockers. Kiwi had a better outing this time for Terrace City, grabbing an acceptable 327. Misty saw a deflection split her swing for Westside, cutting her down with a measly 20 points. Oreo countered with 552 for the Knights, strengthening their lead with the big performance from the steady veteran. Goatee didn't let them get away easily, storming to 936 for the Rockers to put the hosts ahead at the halfway point. Melissa had a bit of a letdown with 227 for Terrace City, showing some rookie inconsistency. Slinks kept Westside in control with 248, a bit of a down performance for the veteran. Quincy put the hosts in the hot seat, charging his way to 577 for the Knights to produce their final score of 1683. Midnight didn't answer the challenge, her 407 leaving the Rockers at a loss with 1611. The close game sees Terrace City get to 1-1, while Westside starts 0-1 with plenty of time to correct it.
Amazon Field, Golden: The Pilots make their home debut with the captain Valencia on the bench, while Fuchsia rests in the Predators' season debut to start a road doubleheader. Shawn produced a decent 384 for Midland to begin the game with a solid performance. Dusty answered with a no-doubt effort for Golden, hammering 823 to give the hosts a sturdy lead right from the start. Rainmane answered with 603 for the Predators, keeping them in the fight with her nice performance. Strut fought off the opposition with 432 for the Pilots, maintaining a slightly smaller lead halfway through the game. Leonardo struggled to 290 for Midland on his turn, giving them a troublesome position in the game. Sparkles pounded 697 for Golden in response, pushing their lead back to a strong position as the final players come to bat. Americus had a beautiful backhand play, but not enough points, taking 463 as the Predators lose with 1740. A. Charlton was a bit loose with her pace for the Pilots, but a backhand kept her going to pick up 227 to ice their win at 2179 overall. Golden is up to 2-1 for the year, while Midland starts at 0-1.
Chevrolet Field, Everton: The defending Hutton Cup champs make their home debut with Cleo resting, while Leonardo sits for the Predators this time. Shawn didn't have much for Midland, hitting a weak 176 to get things going on the back half of a doubleheader. Goldy countered with a supple 496 for Everton, leading off well enough to give them a noticeable lead. Rainmane covered the deficit rather easily for the Predators, picking up a huge 760 to make things interesting again. Puff III took the optional replay but also wasted it, scoring only 146 on the second try as the Eagles have slipped behind. Americus tacked on 305 for Midland to bolster their lead slightly, although it's still anyone's game. Kirstin covered the deficit for Everton going the other way, rallying with 679 to keep things close as the final players prepare to bat. Fuchsia hit 281 for the Predators, forcing the hosts to reply as the visitors close with 1522. Blizzard sealed a win for the Eagles with her 535, giving them a total of 1856. Everton is 1-0 to begin their title defense, while Midland's early road trip knocks them down to 0-2.
BMW RockDome, Westside: The Rockers get their second game of a six-game home stand, resting Slinks this time, while the Stills sit Sierra in hopes of igniting their cold offense. Easter did well until swinging too early at the end, but she had 487 for Todavía in her best start to a game this season. Misty's slow start continued with 117 for Westside this time, giving them an early deficit. Bells took the game to another level for the Stills, silencing the home crowd as she belted 1166 to pad their lead. Goatee did what she could, collecting 332 for the Rockers in a decent performance. Prism didn't get excessive in her padding of the lead for Todavía, modestly adding 368 as they run away with the game. Midnight found a nice groove for awhile, but the burst ended at 554 for Westside, leaving them still far behind with little time to make a move. Anton hit 248 at the end for the Stills, bringing their final score to 2269. Cowzart had only 32 for the Rockers at the end, leaving them with 1035 in a brutal loss. Todavía is up to 1-3 on the year with a convincing performance, while Westside dips to 0-2.
That's all for Week 1. Later today, we'll have Teams of the Week named for each division, as well as a standings update for all three tiers.
