Summer Development League: Division A Week 3

The third week of SDL play gets going with the Division A playing today. First up...

Subway Field, Stonebridge: Eastern Hills has a busy week this time, beginning a four-game home stand against Coastal. Dani led off with a middling 256 for Coastal on the opening turn of this game. Lize had a good pace at first, but a bad swing put her out at 208 for Eastern Hills. Vincent replied with a solid 331 for Coastal, adding nicely to their lead. Rosalina had a mediocre 20 for Eastern Hills, causing them to fall farther behind at the halfway mark. Beth couldn't clear a ball that ended up on her backhand, falling with 169 for Coastal in a sloppy turn. Citrus had a pair of false starts before exploding for 745 for Eastern Hills, pulling the hosts ahead late. Jason V. replied with 338 for Coastal, covering the deficit at 1094. Vladimir answered with a similar 327 to cap the Eastern Hills win at 1300 even. Eastern Hills moves their Division A record up to 3-3, while pushing Coastal back down to 1-4.

Henry Ford Memorial Stadium, Pronger: The Eastern Hills team shifts south for the next game, facing the Southwest this time. Waluigi started with 348 for Southwest in this game, a solid performance from the lead-off man. Citrus replied with 472 for Eastern Hills in a clean turn this time, giving them a small lead. Wario countered with 384 for Southwest, covering the deficit with a good turn. Vladimir slugged 919 in a pacey and brilliant attack for Eastern Hills, giving their lead a massive boost. Solaris replied with 874 for Southwest, refusing to let his team go down quietly. Cubby posted a strong 550 for Eastern Hills to stave off the most recent attack. Brownie picked up 308 for Southwest, but they suffered the loss at 1914. Taylor M. didn't show well in a throw-away performance, chipping 176 to ice the Eastern Hills win at 2117. Eastern Hills rises to 4-3, while Southwest drops to 2-2.

Kraft Crowns Park, Royal: To the west, the Southeast plays host to the Northeast in a battle of the division's top two teams. Noelle gathered 304 for Northeast on the first turn, a decent opener for the visitors. Fuchsia answered with 259 for Southeast, a reasonable response to keep things close early on. Kirstin couldn't stop a deflected offering from ending her turn at 399 after it bounced off her wicket, stalling the addition to the Northeast offense. Cassie looked good at first, but faded to 243 for Southeast, who are beginning to feel in danger of losing their perfect record. Mitchell chopped 539 for Northeast, boosting their lead again. Hannah cut into the deficit with 665 for Southeast, another in-form appearance. Sugar slipped at 321 for Northeast, potentially leaving them in danger at a total of 1563. Leonardo couldn't save the game for Southeast, dropping at 128 to leave them in a loss with 1293. Both teams are now at 3-1, co-leading the league together.

Henry Ford Memorial Stadium, Pronger: The Eastern Hills are back in action in Pronger, hosting the Urban team this time. Quincy cobbled 538 together on a technical error replay after a rocky first attempt. Lize struggled with only 28 for Eastern Hills to start their game quite poorly. Marsell slipped at 217 for Urban, stepping back from some of his more recent good form. Vladimir helped to get Eastern Hills back on track, carving out 570 to shrink the deficit significantly at the halfway mark. Bear had a surprisingly good outing with 659 for Urban, restoring their lead with the performance. Cubby didn't do enough to get Eastern Hills back in the fight, falling at a mild 215. Chimpy struggled a bit with 155 for Urban, leaving their final score at 1569. Sarah had only 208 for Eastern Hills at the end, leaving them at a loss with 1021. Eastern Hills falls back to 4-4, while Urban is up to 3-4, slowly overcoming their poor start to the year.

FedEx Ground, Eastside: Eastern Hills has finished their trip from the north end to the south end of their region, hosting the Southeast in their finale for the week. Fuchsia clubbed 616 for Southeast to get things going quickly for the visitors. Rosalina had just 256 for Eastern Hills in response, unable to impact the deficit all that much. Cassie didn't help Southeast much, hitting 120 on their second attack to weaken the lead a bit. Citrus replied with 321 for Eastern Hills, making a partial impact on the deficit at the midway mark. Hannah charged back with 603 for Southeast, restoring their lead to its prior strength. Vladimir faltered at 176 for Eastern Hills, his strong week ending on a sour note. Kitty provided 843 for Southeast at the end, capping the offense at 2182. Salmo didn't match the effort with 341 for Eastern Hills, giving the hosts a loss on 1094. Eastern Hills has fallen back to 4-5, while Southeast pulls ahead in the division at 4-1.

Nestle's Warriors Park, Central: The Northeast wraps up this week in Division A by hosting the Urban. Quincy started with 408 for Urban, a solid appearance for the lead-off hitter. Noelle responded with force, smashing 907 for Northeast to give the hosts a good lead. Marsell fired back with 551 for Urban, covering the deficit on the good turn. Blizzard tried to make an aggressive play, but sent a ball out of bounds at 54 for Northeast, giving them a narrow lead halfway through the game. Bear put up 252 for Urban, not much for them to work with as they pull ahead slightly. Kirstin fired back with 740 for Northeast, restoring a big lead for them with a player each to go. Lionel failed for Urban yet again, taking a measly 75 to ice their loss at 1286. Mitchell kept it simple at the end with 96 for Northeast, capping their win off at 1797. Northeast keeps paces atop Division A at 4-1, while Urban drops to 3-5.
