We're back, playing Wednesday through Friday to get through Elite's week 3 schedule. First up...
Toyota Pitch, Freedom: The Cascades have Stinky resting for this game, while the Waves will sit Jason V. as the two teams close in the standings battle with each other. Snuggle went with 679 for Oceanside to start this game, a positive performance for the visiting captain. Jasmine showed a bit more longevity on her turn with 717 for Freedom, putting them narrowly ahead early on. Celestia answered with 539 for the Waves, restoring a smaller lead on the second attack. Roxy collapsed at only 80 points for the Cascades, putting them behind midway through the game. Josie put up 436 for Oceanside, adding a solid performance to the offense. Nikolai made some gains with 550 for Freedom, but his turn was likely too short to help much. Dewey boosted the Waves lead with 840 at the end, setting their final score at 2494. Stripes had good pace at first, but a hesitant swing stalled her at 260 for the Cascades, leaving them at a loss with 1607. Oceanside jumps to 4-1, while Freedom is down to 2-2.
Pepsi Prestige Park, Lighton: Two early impressive teams meet here, with both regular second hitters on the bench as the Prestige's Citrus and the Tridents' Spot sit this one out. Precious ripped 829 for Pronger on the opening turn, a great effort out of the captain. Acorn's busy schedule so far finally caught up with him, as the Lighton captain exited on a meager 64 points. Zach got distracted at the end of his turn, but he picked up 719 in a fantastic supporting attack for the Tridents. Spirit fired back with 611 for the Prestige, but the hosts remain far behind at this stage. Spot didn't have much for pace with 359 for Pronger, adding a little more heft to their lead. Nicole tallied 659 for Lighton this time, making up some of the deficit but with a long way to go on the final turn. Lize padded the Tridents lead with a quick 478, icing their offense at 2395 overall. Shiny couldn't overcome the large deficit, her 469 capping the Prestige's loss at 1803. Pronger is up to 5-1, while bumping Lighton down to 3-2.
Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The Knights begin a quadruple-header against the Stills. Prism sits for the visitors, while Melissa has the Knights' first game off. Ruby had a decent opening turn with 481 for Todavía, although they are facing a dangerous opponent. Kiwi answered with 615 for Terrace City, giving the hosts the initial lead. Sierra fell quickly at 146 for the Stills, just barely covering the deficit on her poor outing. Jennifer replied without mercy, belting 851 to give the Knights an even stronger lead halfway through the game. Bells had a respectable 368 for Todavía, but that made little impact against the steep deficit. Oreo covered that with 534 for Terrace City, conserving some energy as she'll be relied upon in this busy week. Easter hit 454 for the Stills at the end, far from enough to prevent them from losing at 1449. Quincy piled on with 518 for the Knights, a fantastic finish to their win with 2518. Terrace City remains perfect at 6-0, while Todavía drops to 1-3.
Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: In the second game, the Tradewinds are in town minus their captain Tigerette, who joins the Knights' Jennifer on the bench for rest. Solaris showed patience and skill in hitting 456 for Commerce on the opening turn. Kiwi had an unusually poor outing with only 65 for Terrace City, getting caught when a ball hopped over the handle of her bat. Taylor S. replied with 587 for the Tradewinds on the second attack, extending their lead quite nicely. Oreo couldn't do much this time, managing a middling 276 for the Knights, who find themselves in an unusual trailing position. Niki went off with 774 for Commerce, their escalating offense doing quite well against a formidable foe. Quincy had a good turn with 525 for Terrace City, but they still lost ground and will likely take the loss. Rosemary went down with a poor 146 for the Tradewinds, finishing their offense at 1963. Melissa only got 264 back for the Knights, confirming their loss at 1130. Commerce pulls off the upset to get to 3-4 against their rivals, while Terrace City has two more games after falling to 6-1.
Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The Knights switch to their black jerseys and give Kiwi her first rest this year, while the Crowns are without Kayla for a second straight game. Jake had an alright start with 280 for Royal, but that leaves them a bit vulnerable early on. Jennifer returned to the lineup looking refreshed for Terrace City, her 774 proof of that point. Nightfur struggled with pace for most of her turn, ending with 384, which was not enough for the Crowns to cover the deficit. Oreo answered with 636 for the Knights, padding their lead with another good outing. Brownie got jammed on the hands and exited with 276 for Royal, unable to break down the hosts' bowling at all. Quincy stayed strong with 717 for Terrace City, his great play during their home quad making for a tough roster choice in the next game. Cassie fell with only 160 for the Crowns, leaving them with a total of 1100 in another brutal loss. Melissa tapped 360 to ice the Knights win at 2487. Terrace City is back to winning at 7-1, while Royal will have to wait for a win as they drop to 0-8.
Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The quad ends with Melissa on the bench again for the Knights, performance being the cited reason, while Crystal sits out for the Flames in a surprising decision. Violetta rallied early for Queens with 662, pressuring the much more fatigued hosts immediately. Kiwi wasn't all the way back for Terrace City, only halving the deficit with her 319. Briana took a step back with 369 for the Flames, a far cry from her previous performance. Briana's older sister Jennifer made progress for the Knights with 395, chipping away at the deficit slightly. Mario replied with 451 for Queens, keeping their lead strong against the dangerous hosts. Oreo made a little more progress with 560 for Terrace City, shrinking the deficit heading into the final turn. Hannah gathered 376 for the Flames, putting their total at a reachable 1858. Quincy collapsed at 180 for the Knights, clearly gassed as they dropped the game with 1454 overall. Queens gets to 2-1 with this win, while Terrace City split the quad and went to 7-2.
Sony Stadium, Queens: The Flames return home and immediately give Briana some rest, while Rosemary returns to the bench as the Tradewinds complete a three-game road trip. Tigerette got off to a positive start with 518 for Commerce, staking out their lead pretty well early on. Crystal looked a bit uncomfortable during her turn, but she maintained a great pace while hitting 419 for Queens. Solaris took a step back with only 272 for the Tradewinds, damaging their lead a bit. Violetta walloped 1009 for the Flames in response, putting them ahead with another explosive turn. Taylor S. took 312 for Commerce, an alright effort that doesn't help against the current deficit. Mario remained a steady force for Queens, tallying 460 on his turn to extend their lead. Niki made a push for the Tradewinds but fell short with 373, leaving their losing total at 1475. Hannah added 544 at the end for the Flames, capping their win at 2432. Queens is 3-1 now, while Commerce drops to 3-5.
Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Coastal rivals are set to meet as the Surfers sit Boots at the start of their quad, while the Waves have Snuggle on the bench for rest. Celestia played a strong turn at lead off for Oceanside, collecting 506 to start their offense positively. Watermelon posted 376 for Pearl in response, setting them a bit behind after the first turn. Josie bowed out at 144 for the Waves, weakening their lead with the poor performance that could have been much more. Neopolitan covered the deficit with 407 on her turn, although it's a small lead at the halfway mark. Dewey had a positive attack with 595 for Oceanside, restoring a lead for them at least temporarily. Bright put Pearl ahead by a single point with her 463, setting up a thrilling finish between the two teams. Jason V. managed 308 for the Waves at the end, setting their final score at 1553. Beth couldn't meet the challenge with 250 for the Surfers, closing their loss at 1496. Oceanside is lucky to be 5-1 after this one, while Pearl's long week starts with them dropping to 1-2.
Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: The Surfers will sit Watermelon for this game, while the visiting Defenders are set to give Wario rest. Bianca put up 344 for Southridge to lead off this game, never quite finding the right rhythm for her attack. Boots cherished the chance to show her old team what they were missing, smacking 640 to put Pearl ahead early in this game. Debby finally had a good outing for the Defenders, hauling in 543 despite a slower than normal pace. Neopolitan cancelled that out with 614 for the Surfers, extending their lead with a good performance. Stephanie didn't back down for Southridge, her 564 continuing the pressure facing the hosts. Bright buckled under the pressure with only 81 for Pearl, putting them behind with a player each to go. Caitlin also failed for the Defenders with a measly 65 points, leaving them with a final score of 1516. Beth cranked 572 for the Surfers at the end, securing their win at 1907. Balance gets Pearl up to 2-2, while Southridge remains winless at 0-4.
Toyota Pitch, Freedom: The Cascades are without Nikolai due to rest in this game, while the Surfers' road game in their quad sees Bright stay behind in Pearl to wait for the next game. Watermelon got too fancy with the bat, falling at 135 when a ball skipped over her handle, putting Pearl in a vulnerable position. Jasmine showed better discipline with 411 for Freedom, only lacking pace in her attack. Boots folded at 209 for the Surfers, not enough to cover the deficit on the second attack. Roxy lifted her last swing too high, ending at only 65 for the Cascades in a low-scoring game. Neopolitan boosted Pearl's offense with 481 on her turn, putting them in the lead for now. Stripes fired back with 600 for Freedom, giving the hosts another lead heading into the final turn. Beth failed to force a response from the hosts, her 230 leaving the Surfers at a loss with 1055. Stinky had only 128 in his return to the Cascades lineup, but that was enough for them to win with 1204. Freedom's ugly win gets them to 3-2, while it's an uglier loss that sends the the Surfers to 2-3.
Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: The Surfers put Beth on the bench in this game, while the Tridents have Potter sitting out the second of their four-game road trip. Precious completed a backhand flick and scored 522 for Pronger in an excellent display of skill to start this game. Watermelon had a high hit to end with 345 for Pearl, a bit of fatigue setting in over the co-captain. Spot maintained a bold swing and tacked on 417 to the Tridents lead with a productive turn. Boots made a small gain with 464 for the Surfers, keeping them within striking distance at the halfway point. Zach kept Pronger on the leading edge of the game with 490, challenging the hosts to catch up. Neopolitan served up 694 with a great pace to give Pearl the lead as the final players come to bat. Lize froze up at the end of her turn, tallying 432 as the Tridents force the hosts to answer a final score of 1861. Bright went with 504 for the Surfers, enough to claim the win at 2007. Pearl went 2-2 during their quad and are now 3-3, while Pronger slips back to 5-2 on the year.
AT&T Oceanside Stadium, Oceanside: The Volcanoes are resting Leonette for this game, while the Waves will sit Jason V. in Elite's Week 3 finale. Starlight had a decent turn going until a high hit caused her to leave the game with just 96 points for Pacific. Snuggle smashed 778 for Oceanside in response, giving them a clear lead after one turn. Ms. Kitty took some big swings, but her last one made her exit at 441 as she went far too high on the follow-through for the Volcanoes. Celestia clipped the boundary, her positive start ending at 324 for the Waves as they lose a bit of their lead. Twinkie I went off with 576 for Pacific, gaining ground again as they track down the hosts. Josie restored a smaller lead for Oceanside with 308, a pacey turn gone to waste on one bad swing. Cowzart sprayed 484 for the Volcanoes at the end, forcing the hosts to meet a final score of 1597. Dewey had only 208 for the Waves, but it was enough to secure a win at 1618. Oceanside has lived dangerously to get to 6-1, while Pacific is unlucky to be at 2-3.
That's all for this week in Elite. Premier will likely play their schedule for week 3 tomorrow, while Select is on track to play week 4 on Sunday.
