Premier Cricket 2019 - Week 2

We're back to cricket this weekend, beginning with Premier's second week of the season. First up...

Coca-Cola Field, Boston: The Swifts lead off the week with their home opener, sitting Gradley for rest while the visiting Eagles begin their doubleheader doing the same for Bear. Goldy struck 512 for Everton on the opening turn, a productive outing for the visiting captain. Patches answered with a better 681 for Boston, showing a little more longevity in her attack. Cleo matched the hosts' first attack with 681 of her own for the Eagles, keeping things competitive. Puff II did enough with 605 to give the Swifts a lead at the halfway point, but this remain anyone's game. Puff III pressured well for Everton with 692, requiring the hosts to respond big again. Sweetheart couldn't meet the challenge, clipping the boundary at 350 for Boston. Kirstin faltered with 205, leaving the Eagles at 2090 overall. Ice Cream couldn't save the Swifts here, her 310 sticking them with a loss at 1946. Both teams have even records, with Everton at 2-2 and Boston at 1-1.

Chevrolet Field, Everton: The Eagles will give their captain Goldy some rest in the second part of a back-to-back, while Slinks sits in the Rockers' second of a third-game road trip. Misty didn't make consistent contact on her swings, eventually falling at a mediocre 248 for Westside. Bear did a bit better with 373 after a false start in his first chance to lead off for Everton this season. Goatee bounced back with 410 for the Rockers, covering the deficit in a close game. Cleo topped that with 429 for the Eagles, continuing to escalate the offense to the game's midpoint. Chimpy pressured the hosts against with 553 for Westside, finding an excellent pace for his first game with the team. Puff III lost a little ground with 517 for Everton, but they remain in the lead heading into the final players' turns. Midnight smashed 1031 for the Rockers, giving them a lofty final score of 2242. Kirstin couldn't rally enough for the Eagles, her 652 leaving them short at 1971. Westside is up to 2-0, while Everton sinks to 2-3 after this loss.

Samsung Whitewater Stadium, Whitewater: The Shores have their home opener with Marsell taking a seat, while the Rockers bench their captain Misty in the middle game of a tripleheader. Slinks did not slide into the lead off role well at all, her 214 marking a slow start for Westside here. Twinkie III also struggled for Whitewater, hitting 225 to give the hosts an extremely narrow lead. Goatee helped the Rockers to get on track with 609 on the second attack, a much more intimidating attack. Shaggy got too aggressive, skying a ball to end at 128 as the Shores fall noticeably behind. Chimpy had a chance to go big with good pace, but he fell at 144 as Westside's lead becomes shaky again. Katharine cranked 811 for Whitewater in her appearance, a massive rally to give the hosts a lead. Midnight flicked 465 for the Rockers at the end, giving them a total of 1432 for the game. Rosalina had only 112 at the end, leaving the Shores at a loss with 1276. Westside stays perfect at 3-0, while Whitewater drops back to 2-1.

BMW RockDome, Westside: The Rockers open their home schedule with Chimpy on the bench, while the Torpedoes are set to rest Fluffina for this game. Smudge had a good initial pace but faded to the end of her turn, scoring 433 for Infinity. Misty replied with 582 for Westside, her return to the lineup going quite well for the hosts. Shelley answered with 324 for the Torpedoes, enough to cover the deficit but not helping the visitors much. Slinks had a pacey attack with 694 for the Rockers, boosting their lead significantly halfway through the game. Mr. Snowman gathered 527 for Infinity on his turn in an attempt to keep the visitors within striking distance. Goatee covered most of that damage with 514 for Westside, maintaining their lead into the final turn. Hughbert missed a swing to end with 454 for the Torpedoes, leaving them in a loss with 1738. Midnight bowed out with 352 for the Rockers, who take the win at 2142. Westside rises again to 4-0, while Infinity exits the ranks of the undefeated at 1-1.

Samsung Whitewater Stadium, Whitewater: The Shores are back in action with Shaggy sitting this one out, while the Warriors delay Andrew's debut for another game as they start a four-game road trip. Twilight had some late swings and a low pace for Central, scoring only 272 to start the game. Marsell fell with only 50 for Whitewater after a high hit on his third swing found the boundary. Dustin had a much more reasonable 501 for the Warriors on the second attack, strengthening their lead. Twinkie III ripped 677 to shrink the deficit for the Spurs at the halfway point. Wings picked up 703 for Central, while Whitewater's fans were furious that the officials may have missed a technical error. Katharine's hot start to the year came to a jarring close with 100 for Whitewater, putting them in a brutal position. Noelle hit 581 for the Warriors to close their offense at 2057. Rosalina did well with 496, but the Shores suffered the loss anyway at 1323. Central improves to 1-1, while home success eludes the now 2-2 Whitewater team.

Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint: The Blades will sit Stealth in this game for rest, while the undefeated Pilots have Max on the bench again. Valencia had a shaky start with 271 for Golden, adjusting to a looser swing late in the game that ended up being an over-correction in form. Snowball had a better early pace but took a late bad swing to close with only 345 as Swordpoint takes a small lead. Dusty fired back with 434 for the Pilots, covering the deficit with a solid performance. Dreamy started with a good pace, then faded before exiting at 443 as the Blades make a minimal addition to their lead. Strut fell apart with 48 points, unable to make a backhand flick when a ball jumped over his bat, and this put Golden distinctly behind. Bandit cemented Swordpoint's lead a bit more, lashing 624 on his turn to lead their attack. Sparkles tried to make a comeback, but pulled a ball into her wicket to end at 458, giving the Pilots a losing total of 1211 in their ugliest game of the year. Sugar piled on with 711 for the Blades at the end to cap their win at 2123. Swordpoint rises to 4-2, while Golden is an equivalent 2-1.

Amazon Field, Golden: The Pilots are back at home now, resting Strut, while the Eagles sit Bear for the second time this week with performance concerns. Goldy returned to the Everton lineup with 490 from lead-off, a good start for the captain. Valencia answered with 560 for Golden, helping the hosts to get a more confident start to this game than in their previous outing. Cleo took a bit of a dip in production with only 341 for the Eagles, her lowest output of the season. Dusty fired back with 603 for the Pilots, extending their lead midway through the game with a great outing. Puff III stayed in form with 518 for Everton, covering the deficit her team faced on that turn. Max played his part with excellence for Golden, lining 723 to boost their lead again with a player each to go. Kirstin ended with 295 for the Eagles this time, as the visitors lose with a total of 1644. Sparkles left with 32 for the Pilots, their win closing at 1918 in a good bounce-back game. The Pilots are 3-1, while Everton drops to 2-4.

Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: The Sharpshooters play their first game of the year without Missy, while the Hummingbirds head on the road without Leandra in this Southwest Derby game. Sarah lifted 455 for Tysini on the opening turn of the game, a good effort from the rookie. Chris got Capital City's season off to an explosive start with 1181 on their first turn, staking out a big lead. Charli didn't look confident with her swings, and she fell at 112 for the Hummingbirds. Sprinkles tallied another 714 for the Sharpshooters, who appear to have no ill effects from the early bye week. Vincent supplied 484 for Tysini on his turn, a decent turn but not enough to counteract the deficit. Lorde had 320 for Capital City, slowing their attacking pace a bit near the end of the game. Paps went off with 656 for the Hummingbirds, but they still suffered defeat at 1707. Pauline grabbed 384 as the Sharpshooters won with 2599. The former Elite champions Capital City begin at 1-0, defeating their rivals from last year, which sends Tysini to 0-2.

Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint: The Blades have their captain Snowball resting in this game, while the Rockers rotate their lineup to give Midnight the game off. Misty wasted no time in building a lead for Westside, a strong 652 providing the visitors' foundation. Dreamy kept it extremely close with 633 for Swordpoint, letting the rest of each roster determine the result. Slinks rallied with 690 for the Rockers here, starting off with an average pace before a couple of blocks led to an uptick in production. Bandit made the smallest amount of progress with 692 for the Blades, keeping the game quite high-scoring and close. Goatee hoped to put the game away with 1597 for Westside at the end, a brilliant performance from their remade 2/3 hitter. Stealth looked good with 472, but Swordpoint likely won't be able to make the comeback here. Chimpy stayed solid with 603 for the Rockers, icing their attack at 3542 in a critical win. Sugar exited with 494 after missing a late swing, the Blades unfortunately losing with 2291. Westside is up to 5-0 while Swordpoint slips to 4-3, with a rematch at this venue to close out Week 2.

McDonald's Pitch at Pirates Park, Atlantic: The Pirates are giving Steven rest for the first game of their doubleheader, while the Shores select Katharine for rest as well. Marsell has struggled since the season debut, hitting a meager 112 for Whitewater after a ball got under his bat here. Delila drilled 712 for Atlantic, her pacey turn successfully giving the hosts a big lead. Twinkie III made a dent in the deficit with 553 for the Shores, trying to prevent this game from being a blowout. Isabella ceded some of the Pirates lead, falling at 385 to bring the game to its halfway mark. Shaggy didn't keep the pressure up, recording 216 for Whitewater in a middling performance. Klaus went off with 874 for Atlantic in this outing, reaffirming their lead late in the game. Rosalina fired back with 736 for the Shores, but they lost with 1617. Jason N. tapped 425 for the Pirates at the end, icing their win at 2396. Atlantic is 2-2 with another game immediately following, while Whitewater sinks to 2-3.

BMW RockDome, Westside: The Pirates' second half of their doubleheader has them sitting Isabella, while the undefeated Rockers sit Slinks despite her recent good performance. Delila cobbled 642 for Atlantic to start the game, a confident effort again from the tenured captain. Misty wasn't deterred from striking 800 for Westside to give them the initial lead in another high-scoring start. Steven covered the deficit with 392 for the Pirates, but his team is not in a good position. Goatee answered with 472 for the Rockers, adding modestly to their lead at the midway point. Klaus shot off with 561 for Atlantic, again forcing the hosts to reply to their attacks. Chimpy kept his swings low, leaving with 337 to erase most of Westside's lead heading into the final turn. Jason N. lost control at 408 for the Pirates, giving them a final score of 2003. Midnight hauled in 492 for the Rockers, securing their win at 2101. Westside rises once more to 6-0, while Atlantic drops back to 2-3.

Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint: The Rockers are back here with Chimpy on the bench, while the Blades sit Sugar for overdue rest in the week 2 finale. Misty showed a little fatigue early on, but held on to tally 595 for Westside anyway, arcing some of her later swings to compensate. Snowball clipped the boundary early in her turn, falling with only 225 for Swordpoint. Slinks collected another 512 for the Rockers on the second attack, boosting their lead quite well. Dreamy found 626 for the Blades, doing her part to shrink their deficit a bit. Goatee slipped a bit with 355 for Westside, keeping them in the lead by a thinning margin. Bandit chipped away with 439 for Swordpoint, bringing them closer heading into the final turn. Midnight had a high swing to stall at 193 for the Rockers, leaving them vulnerable at 1655. Stealth chopped a risky 351 for the Blades, giving them 1641, which sets them just 14 points behind at the end. Westside escapes with a lucky win to stay a perfect 7-0, while Swordpoint is frustrated to be 4-4 after a busy first two weeks.

That's all for Premier today. Select should get some time in over the next two days.
