We're set to continue Bracket Finals play today. First up...
Subway Arena, Stonebridge: Jane v. Shadow. The green cue is up for 9-ball. Stonebridge's Jane had more offense in game 1, making a pair before a scratch and a four-ball run before two misses on the 9. Diamond's Shadow cleaned up the 9 at the top right for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Wolves' Jane had another solid performance in game 2, but she was derailed by unfortunate late misses. The Gems' Shadow again picked up the shots that were left to earn the win for a 2-0 series lead. Shadow took over on offense in game 3, burying a four-ball run and a three-ball run-out on consecutive turns with only a miss by Jane in the middle. Shadow's win sealed the series for him at 3-0. Jane had a little offense early in game 4, but Shadow won on a five-ball run-out, ending with a deflection off the 6 to grab the 9 at the bottom left. Shadow stretched his series lead to 4-0. Jane broke up the sweep attempt with a quick 2-9 combination to the bottom left to win game 5. Shadow still took the series 4-1 to reach the Finals on a 16-5 record overall. Shadow's back on the league lead with five kills, making Jane the 125th eliminated player this year.
Chevrolet Center, Everton: Goldy v. Carly. Top teams' players clash in Rotation with the red cue. Westside's Carly had a strong enough start in game 1 to fend off Everton's Goldy in the middle. Both players had choppy finishes, and Carly won 8-7 to gain a 1-0 series lead. The Rockers' Carly had most of the early offense in game 2, but the Eagles' Goldy turned it around at the end with a six-ball run-out. Goldy's surge gave her an 8-6 win to tie the series at 1. Carly took another noticeable lead in game 3, then stalled out briefly as Goldy caught up. At the end, Carly had just enough in the tank to earn an 8-7 win, taking a pivotal 2-1 series lead. Goldy took the lead right away in game 4, and she didn't let it go. Carly's comeback effort was disjointed, and Goldy earned an 8-3 win to retie the series at 2. Goldy needed every last shot in game 5, pulling off another massive comeback to earn the 8-7 result and 3-2 series win over Carly. Goldy hadn't been tested much before, finishing 18-3 on the bracket in one of the most dominant runs in league history. Goldy notched her third kill of the year to make Carly the 126th player out in a strong rookie season.
Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: Kelsea v. Lily. The red cue stays on for a 9-ball series. Capital City's Kelsea made seven balls over her last two turns in game 1, while Eastside's Lily seemed to struggle under the pressure of the moment. Kelsea leads the series 1-0. The Sharks' Lily put up a better fight in game 2, but the Sharpshooters' Kelsea still picked up the win by making the final pair of shots. Kelsea is up 2-0 in the series. Kelsea wasn't able to keep the pace up in game 3, scratching after making a pair on the break. Lily had a four-ball run in response and then added the 9 to the top left for the win to cut Kelsea's series lead down to 2-1. Lily took her chances in the middle of game 4 and sniped a 4-9 combination to the bottom left after Kelsea had handled most of the offense to that point. Lily's big play tied the series at 2 heading into the final game. Lily kept her offense strong in game 5, controlling the pace of play and doing enough to finish with a four-ball run-out. Lily beat Kelsea 3-2 in the series, and she advanced to the Finals on a 14-7 record from the bracket.
Amazon Field Exhibition Hall, Golden: Valencia v. Lily. The visitor completes a road doubleheader in Rotation with the silver cue. Eastside's Lily produced a solid performance in game 1, pulling away late to earn an 8-4 win and 1-0 series lead over Golden's Valencia. The Pilots' Valencia struggled a bit with the pace in game 2, and the Sharks' Lily took the early lead. Valencia caught up, but Lily made a three-ball run-out for an 8-5 win to go ahead 2-0 in the series. Valencia pushed hard in game 3, but she came up short with a difficult finish. Lily closed the gap and then kept going to earn an 8-4 win that secured the series in her favor at 3-0. Lily didn't play so well in game 4, taking a hard loss as Valencia worked her way to an 8-3 win to avoid the sweep. Lily remains ahead 3-1 in the series. Valencia stepped in right at the end of a close game 5 and won 8-7 to leave Lily with a 3-2 series win. Lily went 15-6 on the bracket en route to the Finals. Valencia is the 127th eliminated player this year, while Lily notched her third kill of the year.
FedEx Arena, Eastside: Taylor M. v. Puff II. The silver cue checks out after a 12-ball series. Eastside's Taylor M. rattled off a three-ball run to start game 1, and she didn't have to fend off much. Harrison's Puff II never got organized as Taylor M. cruised to the win for a 1-0 series lead. The Specters' Puff II put up more of a fight in game 2, but her last ball wasn't lined up, and the Sharks' Taylor M. bounced back with a pair for the win. Taylor M. leads the series 2-0. Taylor M. didn't get what she wanted out of the break, and two turns later Puff II unleashed a six-ball run-out after a favorable distribution. Puff II's dominant win got her on the board, but Taylor M. holds a 2-1 series lead. Taylor M. turned the tables in game 4, burying a five-ball run to take control and then using defense before picking up the win two turns later when Puff II couldn't get anything going. Taylor M. sealed the series at 3-1. A slower start to game 5 didn't matter to Taylor M., as she buried the necessary offense later when Puff II was still setting her final run up. Taylor M. took a 4-1 series win and went 16-5 on the bracket to reach the Finals. This was Taylor M.'s third kill of the year, making Puff II the 128th eliminated player.
Volkswagen BeetleDome, Viewpoint Sound: Princess v. Nibbles. Former teammates battle in 7-ball with the red cue. Viewpoint Sound's Princess scratched on the break and never took hold in game 1. Web City's Nibbles eventually earned the win with a three-ball run-out for the 1-0 series lead. The Spiders' Nibbles scratched on the game 2 break, but he again won on a three-ball run-out after the Meteors' Princess missed in the middle. Nibbles leads the series 2-0. Nibbles controlled the start and the end of game 3, with Princess picking up only a pair on her single turn. Nibbles collected a strong win and clinched the series at 3-0. Princess finally sparked to life on offense in game 4, burying a four-ball run-out to get her first win over Nibbles, who remains ahead 3-1 in the series. Princess collected another win in game 5, working well at the end of a choppy battle. Nibbles took the series win at 3-2 and went 16-8 on the bracket after a run from the Play-In Round.
Amazon Field Exhibition Hall, Golden: Max v. Wario. The green cue exits after a South Division 7-ball series. A slow start quickly melted away when Southridge's Wario buried a six-ball run-out to take the win and 1-0 series lead over Golden's Max. Without quite as much pace in game 2, the Defenders' Wario still guided the course of play. The Pilots' Max could only watch as Wario finished off a three-ball run-out to earn the win and 2-0 series lead. Wario made two early and a 4-7 combination at the end of game 3 after Max's bank attempt on the 4 went far wide of the bottom side. Wario's strong finishing skill secured the series in his favor at 3-0. Wario kept rolling after a slow start to game 4, ripping a four-ball run-out to push his series lead to 4-0 over Max. Max couldn't salvage a result in game 5, missing a tough shot on the 7 that Wario tapped in at the top right. Wario swept the series 5-0 and finished 16-5 on the bracket. Wario recorded his second kill of the year, and Max is the 129th player out of the Tournament.
Apple Center, Todavía: Pedey v. Snowball. The purple cue's only series today is in 10-ball. Westside's Snowball took control with a seven-ball run in game 1, then added the 10 on the next turn after Todavía's Pedey failed to sink it from short-range. Snowball leads the series 1-0. Game 2 was not the picture of performance for either player. The Stills' Pedey never really activated on offense, while the Rockers' Snowball managed to do enough to win, going ahead 2-0 in the series. Pedey had a more competitive effort in game 3, but a late foul allowed Snowball to take the final pair from ball-in-hand. Snowball secured the series at 3-0. Pedey found a quick finish in game 4, burying a deflection off the 5 to get the 10 at the top left, with the 5 dropping in the bottom side for a double-pot. Snowball remains ahead 3-1 in the series. Snowball had her chances to collect game 5, but Pedey overcame a scratch at the end to make the final pair of shots for the win. Snowball settled for a 3-2 series win and 14-7 mark on the bracket to get into the Finals. Pedey is the 130th player to exit, and Snowball has her first kill.
Ford Forum, Pronger: Potter v. Kiwi. The blue cue ends the day in Accuracy. Terrace City's Kiwi wasn't able to stabilize her offense late in game 1, while Pronger's Potter pulled off a strong shot to gain a 1-2 win for the 1-0 series lead in a close battle. In game 2, the Tridents' Potter slipped behind in the middle and never had a chance to catch up. The Knights' Kiwi held her ground for a 1-5 win to tie the series at 1. Kiwi put in a good effort in game 3, but fell behind and then scratched as she tried to make things difficult on Potter, who escaped with a 1-3 win. Potter regained his series lead at 2-1. Kiwi couldn't stop a skid in the middle of game 4, and Potter held on to grab a 2-5 win that sealed the series in his favor at 3-1. Potter completed the effort with a replica of the opener, taking a 1-2 win over Kiwi to wrap up a 4-1 series win. Potter finished with a 15-6 record on the bracket. Potter has two kills and Kiwi is the 131st eliminated player, while the Knights are the sixth team fully out.
