Tournament XI - Bracket Semifinals Day 9

We're set to play again today, with all cues in action. First up...

Home Depot Forum, Web City: Jack v. Twilight. East Division captains clash in Rotation with the purple cue. Central's Twilight had a solid start to game 1, but Web City's Jack didn't stay down long. Jack rallied for an 8-4 win and leads the series 1-0. The Spiders' Jack didn't mess around in game 2, playing a strong offense after scratching on the break. The Warriors' Twilight had no chance to keep up, and Jack finished with an 8-1 win to go up 2-0 in the series. Jack didn't waste any time in game 3, making a seven-ball run off the break. Twilight missed her only shot, and Jack's 8-0 win sealed the series for him at 3-0. Jack fell off the pace in game 4, getting almost nothing going until a late three-ball run. Twilight was better this time, picking up an 8-4 win to cut Jack's series lead to 3-1. Twilight made a late surge in game 5 as well, winning this one 8-7. Jack settled for a 3-2 series win that sets him up to visit Infinity Torpedoes captain Smudge in the bracket finals. Jack has joined the league lead at three kills and Twilight is the 107th eliminated player.

Samsung Arena, Whitewater: Rachel v. Precious. The green cue gets a turn in Accuracy. Whitewater's Rachel made a pair on the break and played solidly throughout game 1, while Pronger's Precious faltered with a late scratch. Rachel took a 1-3 win to earn the 1-0 series lead. The Tridents' Precious couldn't work herself into a better situation in game 2, while the Shores' Rachel was fairly solid again. Rachel took a 2-4 win this time to extend her series lead to 2-0. Precious held the lead early in game 3, only to completely unravel at the end of the contest. Rachel stabilized late and earned a 2-4 win again to secure the series at 3-0. Rachel couldn't be stopped in game 4, playing perfectly in a 0-2 win to leave Precious nowhere to go after an early miss. Rachel's series lead is up to 4-0. Rachel didn't complete the sweep in game 5, sportingly allowing Precious to pick up a 3-4 win in a close battle. Rachel's 4-1 series win sets her up to visit the Tysini Hummingbirds captain Leandra in the bracket finals. Precious is the 108th player to exit the Tournament, and Rachel now has two kills.

HP Field Events Center, Midland: Rainmane v. Rosemary. The purple cue is back for an 8-ball series. Midland's Rainmane had a bit more offense early in game 1, but she couldn't sustain it later. Commerce's Rosemary steadied herself late and picked up the win for a 1-0 series lead. The Tradewinds' Rosemary had a solid start to game 2, but she wasn't the same after a scratch. The Predators' Rainmane attacked well and then took her time with the 8 at the top right to earn the win and tie the series at 1. Rosemary bounced right back in game 3 after Rainmane scratched. Rosemary's late surge earned her the win and 2-1 series lead after a five-ball run-out. Rosemary nearly pulled away with game 4 unchallenged, but she couldn't get a good look on the 8. Rainmane pushed back over two turns to win on a three-ball run-out, retying the series at 2. Rosemary again started well in game 5, only for Rainmane to surge again near the end. Rainmane locked down the win for a 3-2 series win, and she'll host Victoria Spurs captain Spice in the bracket finals. Rainmane took her third kill of the year to make Rosemary the 109th player out of action.

Nissan Hall, Infinity: Fuchsia v. Chris. West Division rivals play 15-ball with the purple cue in its last series today. Infinity's Fuchsia looked good early in game 1 before a fade in the middle. Capital City's Chris sparked his offense to life on a six-ball run-out, including a scoop-kick on the 15 to the bottom right for the win and 1-0 series lead. A closer battle in game 2 saw the Torpedoes' Fuchsia hang on pretty well until the Sharpshooters' Chris made a three-ball run-out. Chris leads the series 2-0. The pace returned for both players in game 3, but Chris again had the better finishing touch. He made another three-ball run-out to beat Fuchsia and clinch the series at 3-0. Chris got a little lucky again in game 4, burying a four-ball run-out with a deflection off the 7 to take the 15 at the top right ending it. He leads Fuchsia 4-0 in the series. Fuchsia avoided the sweep in game 5 with a three-ball run-out at the end of a close battle. Chris took the series 4-1 and will visit West Division rival and Lighton Prestige star Citrus in the bracket finals.

Volkswagen BeetleDome, Viewpoint Sound: Hoot v. Fuchsia. The visitor finishes a doubleheader in 9-ball for the blue cue's lone series today. Neither player had enough control in game 1, with Infinity's Fuchsia eventually getting the 9 down at the top left to take a 1-0 series lead over Viewpoint Sound's Hoot. The Torpedoes' Fuchsia had an empty break in game 2 and then watched the Meteors' Hoot quickly strike a 1-9 combination to the bottom left for the win. The series is tied at 1. Hoot didn't mess around in game 3 either, burying the 9 to the bottom left with a sweet-spot break to pull ahead 2-1 over Fuchsia. Game 4 went the distance, and Fuchsia appeared more comfortable as it progressed, while Hoot struggled to regain his offense. Fuchsia took a pair at the end for the win to retie the series at 2. Fuchsia again went the distance in game 5, burying a four-ball run-out after no quick strikes emerged for Hoot. Fuchsia won the series 3-2, and she'll be on the road in Lighton to visit the Prestige's top-ranked Spirit in the bracket finals.

Nike Field Events Center, Commerce: Luigi v. Violetta. The green cue cycles back in for 10-ball. Queens' Violetta had no momentum in game 1, and Commerce's Luigi had to find a path forward on offense. Luigi won with banks of the 9 to the top side and the 10 to the top right for a 1-0 series lead. The Flames' Violetta was a bit more lively in game 2, but she couldn't finish it off. The Tradewinds' Luigi made a three-ball run-out at the end to grab the win and 2-0 series lead. Luigi had a four-ball run from the start of game 3, but Violetta made the 5-10 combination on her second try after Luigi scratched. Violetta's back in it, trailing 2-1 in the series. Violetta carried some power forward into game 4, where she made a five-ball run only to miss on the 10 at the top left. Luigi tapped it down for the win to secure the series at 3-1. Violetta finished off game 5 positively after a tough start, making a three-ball run-out to cut Luigi's series win down to 3-2. Luigi will visit the Viewpoint Sound Meteors' Josie in the bracket finals.

FedEx Arena, Eastside: Maison v. Snowball. The silver cue gets a look in 9-ball here. Eastside's Maison played a stronger game 1 and was rewarded with the win for his effort after Westside's Snowball faltered late. Maison leads the series 1-0. The Sharks' Maison stepped up the offense in game 2 with seven balls over two turns, but his hot streak was cut short on a scratch. The Rockers' Snowball then made the final pair for the win to tie the series at 1. Maison fired off a four-ball run-out to take game 3 after a lackluster start for both himself and Snowball. Maison is up 2-1 in the series. Snowball couldn't get anything going in game 4, faltering on nearly every turn. Maison took his time but earned the win and sealed the series at 3-1. Maison finished off game 5 as well, burying the 9 on his second attempt at the bottom left after Snowball rattled it out. Maison's 4-1 series win sets him up to host Zenith Skywatchers captain Blizzard in the bracket finals.

Subway Arena, Stonebridge: Hershey v. Rocky. The red cue's lone series of the day is in Accuracy. Stonebridge's Hershey held his ground and got Oceanside's Rocky to skid through the middle of game 1. This led to Hershey winning 1-4 for a 1-0 series lead. The Waves' Rocky had a terrible time keeping the cue ball on the table in game 2, scratching three times in a 0-5 loss that made things very easy for the Wolves' Hershey to take a 2-0 series lead. Hershey had a solid start to game 3, but he took too many misses as the game progressed. Rocky was much more fortunate this time, holding onto a lead with a lucky pair of bounces on his final shot to win 2-3. Hershey remains ahead 2-1 in the series. Hershey bounced right back in game 4, getting the better of the luck this time to win a 2-3 result of his own over Rocky. Hershey clinched the series at 3-1 with this win. Hershey and Rocky battled perfectly until Hershey's miss on the last ball. Rocky took the 0-1 win as consolation, while Hershey took the series 3-2 and will visit the Infinity Torpedoes' Fuchsia in the bracket finals. Hershey claimed his third kill of the year, and Rocky is the 110th eliminated player this year.

Intel Center, Diamond: Salmo v. Shelley. The day ends with the green cue in Rotation. Diamond's Salmo provided steady offense in game 1, but Infinity's Shelley grabbed the lead quickly and finished it off as an 8-5 win for a 1-0 series lead. The Torpedoes' Shelley started game 2 with a five-ball run. The Gems' Salmo never recovered from that, and Shelley closed up an 8-1 win to go ahead 2-0 in the series. Salmo tried to slow things down with defense in game 3, but Shelley wouldn't let that happen. She built on her initial four-ball run with clever play in the middle before winning 8-4 to secure the series at 3-0. A back-and-forth battle emerged in game 4, giving Salmo a chance to get on a late run. He faltered on his last shot, and Shelley locked down an 8-7 win to keep the sweep bid intact at 4-0. Shelley again led off with a five-ball run, and she quickly made a three-ball run-out to close out an 8-1 win for the 5-0 series sweep over Salmo. Shelley will visit the Oceanside Waves' Celestia in the bracket finals. Shelley reset the league lead in kills at four by making Salmo the 111th eliminated player.

We'll end the Bracket Semifinals tomorrow before taking a two-day administrative break to get some things set up for the fast-approaching end of the season.
