We're ready to go for a full day of games on a condensed schedule today. First up...
Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Watermelon v. Ms. Puppy. The blue cue opens the day in 15-ball. Pearl's Watermelon had an excellent showing in game 1, controlling the offense with a couple of big runs. She made a five-ball run-out at the end to get the 1-0 series lead over Modernistic's Ms. Puppy. The Union's Ms. Puppy made herself more noticeable in game 2, but she wasn't able to finish off the effort. Watermelon made the final pair after a respectable share of the offense herself, and she leads the series 2-0. Watermelon reset the tone in game 3 with an eight-ball run off the break. Ms. Puppy recovered a bit with a late three-ball run, but her scratch near the end allowed Watermelon to take the 15 on a free shot. Watermelon clinched the series at 3-0. The pace slowed down pretty dramatically in game 4, but Watermelon was still able to pop up with a win as Ms. Puppy struggled to collect much offense at all. Watermelon's series lead is up to 4-0. Ms. Puppy finally got a result in a close game 5, although Watermelon did have a lot of the early offense. Watermelon settled for a 4-1 series win to earn a hosting position in the bracket finals. Watermelon took her second kill and Ms. Puppy is the 96th player out of the Tournament.
Nissan Hall, Infinity: Shelley v. Whiskers. The silver cue joins the party in Accuracy. Infinity's Shelley dropped into a tie late in game 1 and ended up in overtime. There, Maplewood's Whiskers scratched and then missed a few turns later to lose 3-4 as Shelley escaped with a surprising 1-0 series lead. The Lumberjacks' Whiskers led briefly to begin game 2, but the Torpedoes' Shelley stabilized after that and earned a 1-4 win to extend her series lead to 2-0. Both players were perfect until the last ball in game 3, where Whiskers missed twice and Shelley picked up a 1-2 win to secure the series at 3-0. Shelley decided to play an intentional miss at the end of a close game 4, allowing Whiskers to earn a 2-3 win after an even battle. Shelley remains ahead 3-1 in the series. Shelley did the same thing in game 5 after the lead got away from her late, gifting another 2-3 win to Whiskers. Shelley still won the series 3-2 and will host the Southridge Defenders rookie Ingrid in the bracket finals. Shelley rejoined the league lead at three kills as Whiskers is the 97th eliminated player.
Starbucks Arena, Archtown: Sally v. Rosalina. A simmering rivalry reignites in 13-ball with the blue cue. Victoria's Rosalina had a chance to play defense in game 1, but Archtown's Sally pushed back against her and ended up with the win in a close battle. Sally leads the series 1-0. The Arrows' Sally took the initial lead in game 2 as well, but her lack of finishing at the end allowed the Spurs' Rosalina to get the win. This tied the series at 1. Sally couldn't get anything going on her last ball near the bottom side, but she made Rosalina's last ball there on a failed kick. Rosalina then took the 8 for a difficult win to pull ahead 2-1 in the series. Rosalina didn't find as much success in game 4, and Sally overcame an early scratch to win on a four-ball run-out. Sally's late surge was enough to tie the series at 2. Rosalina came within half an inch of winning game 3, but she left the 8 at the bottom left. Sally made a three-ball run-out to finish the comeback for a 3-2 series win that allows her to host the Tysini Hummingbirds' Charli in the bracket finals. Sally survived a do-or-die situation for her second kill to make Rosalina the 98th player out this year.
Amazon Field Exhibition Hall, Golden: Max v. Acorn. The green cue's lone appearance today is in 7-ball. Lighton's Acorn looked dangerous with a late three-ball run, but Golden's Max cleaned up the 7 to the bottom right after Acorn's missed contact. Max leads the series 1-0. The Prestige's Acorn performed well in a choppy game 2, picking up the win late after the Pilots' Max had a couple of misses on the 7. Acorn's win tied the series at 1. Acorn had a three-ball run in the middle of game 3, but Max shot back with a three-ball run-out to earn the win and 2-1 series lead. Acorn bounced right back in game 4, pushing a three-ball run-out at the end when Max couldn't get his offense going. The series is tied at 2. Both players missed chances on the 7 in game 5, but Max made it on his second attempt after a four-ball run. Max won the series 3-2 and will host South Division rival and Southridge Defenders strongman Wario in the bracket finals. Max has his first kill of the year, and Acorn is the 99th player to exit.
Coca-Cola Field Exhibition Center, Boston: Sweetheart v. Goatee. The silver cue is up for a 15-ball series. Westside's Goatee had some offense late in a close game 1, but she missed contact on a cut attempt on the 15. Boston's Sweetheart buried it for free at the bottom side to take a 1-0 series lead. The Swifts' Sweetheart brought game 2 to a much faster finish, kicking a 3-15 combination into the top left after the Rockers' Goatee failed to do much on offense. Sweetheart is up to 2-0 in the series. Goatee took some momentum in game 3, rallying with a four-ball run that ended with a miss on the 10. Sweetheart then banked the 10-15 combination to the bottom right, with the proper spin to get the 10 down at the bottom side on a double-pot. Sweetheart's stylish finish secured the series at 3-0. Sweetheart started well again in game 4, but Goatee finally put everything together at the end this time. Goatee made a six-ball run-out for the win to get on the board in a series she trails in 3-1. Sweetheart bounced back in game 5 with a four-ball run-out for the win. Sweetheart beat Goatee 4-1 in the series to earn hosting rights in the bracket finals. Sweetheart has her first kill of the year, making Goatee the 100th eliminated player.
Apple Center, Todavía: Pedey v. Watermelon. The visitor's second series today is in 10-ball with the purple cue. Todavía's Pedey played well early in game 1, but Pearl's Watermelon took control on a four-ball run-out at the end to earn the win and 1-0 series lead. The Surfers' Watermelon kept her offense up in game 2, but she missed on the 10 at the end. The Stills' Pedey easily scooped it up at the bottom left for the win to tie the series at 1. Watermelon again played a close battle and watched it slip away with a rattling 10 at the top right. Pedey tapped it down again, grabbing the win and a 2-1 series lead in the process. Pedey couldn't keep his control early in game 4, and Watermelon eventually struck for a 4-10 combination to the bottom left for the win. Watermelon has tied the series at 2 games apiece. Pedey brought a similar approach to close out game 5 after a slow start. Pedey deflected off the 3 and drove the 10 to the bottom left to get the win and 3-2 series win, which sees him reach the bracket finals.
Intel Center, Diamond: Leonardo v. Delila. The red cue gets its lone series today in 15-ball. Diamond's Leonardo scored a surprising game 1 win, putting the 3 ball into a cluster and getting the 15 to drop into the top left for the 1-0 series lead over Atlantic's Delila. The Gems' Leonardo continued to pace the offense in game 2, and this time he left the Pirates' Delila in the dust. Leonardo buried a five-ball run-out to get the win and go ahead 2-0 in the series. Leonardo had a strong offense in game 3, but he wasn't able to finish it off as Delila made a four-ball run-out instead. Leonardo remains ahead 2-1 in the series. Leonardo pushed again for a finish in game 4, and he nearly had it, but his 2-15 combination to the top left also saw the cue ball scratch at the bottom left. This gifted the win to Delila, tying the series at 2. Delila completed the reverse sweep on her own merits in game 5, making a five-ball run-out to finish off Leonardo. Delila's 3-2 series win books her a road ticket for the bracket finals.
Intel Center, Diamond: Autumn v. Snuggle. The venue doubleheader ends with the silver cue in 10-ball. Diamond's Autumn had some decent shots early in game 1, but Harrison's Snuggle set himself apart at the end with a four-ball run-out for the win and 1-0 series lead. Neither player could take control of the offense in game 2, but the Gems' Autumn was able to tap the 10 in at the bottom left to end with a win, tying the series at 1 as the Specters' Snuggle had a poor effort. Autumn couldn't get back on track in game 3, and Snuggle picked up the slack at the end on a four-ball run-out again. Snuggle leads the series 2-1. Snuggle faltered late in game 4, missing attempts on the 9 and 10 near the end. Autumn cleaned up both to grab the win, tying the series again at 2. Autumn had a chance to go on a run at the end of game 5, but the 10 just missed at the bottom right. Snuggle banked it to the bottom left for the win and 3-2 series win to get himself in the bracket finals. Snuggle joins the league lead in kills at 3, while Autumn is the 101st eliminated player.
Nike Field Events Center, Commerce: Taylor S. v. Sunshine. The silver cue closes the day in 8-ball. Commerce's Taylor S. botched just about everything at the start of game 1, and that gave Royal's Sunshine just enough room to operate for the win. Sunshine leads the series 1-0. The Crowns' Sunshine scratched on the break and couldn't get his offense going after that. The Tradewinds' Taylor S. had some bizarre shot selections, but it worked to earn her a win that tied the series at 1. Taylor S. went empty on the game 3 break and then managed to sink the 8 illegally after Sunshine's early scratch. This gave Sunshine a cheap win to retake the series lead at 2-1. Taylor S. flirted with danger in game 4, twice rattling the 8 out of pockets on hard deflections. Her offense stalled out late, and Sunshine won with a pair of shots to seal the series at 3-1. Taylor S. made a pair of four-ball runs to earn the win in game 5, fending off a five-ball run from Sunshine, who won the series 3-2 anyway. Sunshine will be on the road in the bracket finals. Sunshine earned his second kill as Taylor S. is the 102nd player out of the Tournament.
That's all for today. We'll play on a normal schedule tomorrow.
