Tournament XI - Bracket Semifinals Day 6

We're set to play another day of games as we hit the second half of the round. First up...

Verizon Field Events Center, Pacific: Ms. Kitty v. Spot. A strong matchup is set for 13-ball with the silver cue. Pronger's Spot had a better start in game 1, but Pacific's Ms. Kitty pulled off an unlikely five-ball run a turn after her scratch. She then added the 8 to the bottom left on the next turn for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Volcanoes' Ms. Kitty started well in game 2, but a decision to make a shot illegally with intent led to the Tridents' Spot answering on a five-ball run-out. Spot's late surge helped him tie the series at 1. Spot made a four-ball run off the break in game 3, and he ended up eventually getting the win after a prolonged finishing push, while Ms. Kitty couldn't get herself set up. Spot leads the series 2-1. Momentum swung back to Ms. Kitty in game 4, as she controlled the offense and held off Spot late to earn the win. Ms. Kitty has tied the series at 2 with this win. Ms. Kitty kept rolling in game 5 with a four-ball run early and a three-ball run-out later to finish off a 3-2 series win over Spot. Ms. Kitty will host in the bracket finals. Ms. Kitty has joined the league lead in kills with three, while Spot is the 90th player eliminated this year.

HP Field Events Center, Midland: Rainmane v. Sunshine. The red cue activates for a South Division 12-ball battle. Midland's Rainmane was able to fend off a strong attack from Royal's Sunshine in game 1. Rainmane owns a narrow 1-0 series lead. The Predators' Rainmane committed an overfill in game 2, but she was still way faster on offense and easily beat the Crowns' Sunshine this time. Rainmane's strong pace has her ahead 2-0 in the series. Sunshine looked to be in control in game 3, but he couldn't line up his last ball. Rainmane initially took some reckless shots to get her offense going, then turned it into a pair of three-ball runs to get the win, sealing the series at 3-0. Sunshine finally found his breakthrough in game 4, burying a five-ball run-out after scrapping for position with Rainmane at the top left. Sunshine's win cut the deficit to 3-1. Sunshine pulled off another win game 5, taking solids on his second turn and getting much better positioning than Rainmane, who won the series 3-2. Rainmane will host Westside Rockers captain Misty in the bracket finals.

Sony Center, Queens: Mario v. Marsell. The purple cue is on in 9-ball. Queens' Mario had a four-ball run after both players made a pair in game 1. Whitewater's Marsell had a chance on the 9 but missed, and Mario cleaned it up for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Flames' Mario was able to get another win in game 2, but this one was choppy as the Shores' Marsell didn't find much success. Mario took his time, which helped him to a 2-0 series lead. Mario set the tone in game 3 with a seven-ball run, only to miss late. Marsell was right there to mop up the final pair of shots, giving him a win to get on the board in the 2-1 series. Marsell tried to keep it going, but his break was empty, and he missed on the 4. This set up Mario for a deflection play to drive the 9 into the top side for the win, clinching the series at 3-1. Marsell made three of the last four balls in a close game 5 battle, earning him a win after Mario wasn't at his best. Mario took the series 3-2 to earn his place in the bracket finals. Mario has his first kill of the year, and Marsell is the 91st player out of the Tournament.

Chevrolet Center, Everton: Goldy v. Solaris. The red cue is done for the day after this Rotation set. Everton's Goldy turned into a bit of a hotshot in game 1, crushing it late to earn an 8-2 win over Commerce's Solaris. Goldy leads the series 1-0 after the impressive showing. The Tradewinds' Solaris couldn't get anything going in game 2, and the Eagles' Goldy eventually punished that effectively. Goldy walked away with an 8-0 win to go up 2-0 in the series in style. Goldy had most of the early offense, but Solaris put up a solid resistance later in game 3. Goldy overwhelmed him for an 8-4 win, securing the series at 3-0. Goldy took another commanding lead in game 4, and Solaris made a four-ball run to get close. It didn't pay off, as Goldy closed out an 8-5 win to stretch her series lead to 4-0. Solaris finally got a win in game 5, burying some early offense and taking an 8-3 result to spoil Goldy's sweep bid. Goldy instead won the series 4-1 and will host Westside Rockers rookie Carly in the bracket finals. Goldy is up to two kills, and Solaris is the 92nd player to exit the Tournament.

T-Mobile Center, Victoria: Spice v. Mario. The visitor's second series today is in 8-ball with the purple cue. Queens' Mario had the better play early in game 1 but couldn't make it last, allowing Victoria's Spice to pull off a comeback win. Spice leads the series 1-0. The Flames' Mario made an impressive comeback push in game 2, sinking a seven-ball run, but a scratch and poor aim after that allowed the Spurs' Spice to recover for the win. Spice owns a 2-0 series lead. Mario used a little force to get on track in game 3, as Spice was too casual at the end. Mario made a three-ball run-out, pushing the 8 right through Spice's defense at the bottom left to earn the win. Spice remains ahead 2-1 in the series. Mario had the lead for a large part of game 4, but Spice bounced back at the end with a three-ball run-out to collect the win that sealed the series for her at 3-1. Mario continued to play with some pace in game 5, grabbing the win to leave Spice to finish with a 3-2 series win. Spice will be on the road in the bracket finals.

Mitsubishi Arena, Apex: Midnight v. Princess. A tough North Division showdown in 15-ball is the green cue's lone appearance today. Viewpoint Sound's Princess prevailed in a fairly even game 1 battle. She made a three-ball run-out for the win to take a 1-0 series lead over Apex's Midnight. The Wonders' Midnight struggled a bit more in game 2, and the Meteors' Princess was able to win again on a three-ball run-out. Despite a lack of dominance, Princess is ahead 2-0 in the series. Midnight lost control in game 3 as well, going for a poorly planned shot that resulted in the 15 going to the top side illegally. Princess already had the offense thanks to a four-ball run from the break, but she got the win for free to secure the series at 3-0. Midnight had her best chance at a win in game 4, but she rattled the 15 out of the bottom right. Princess mopped it up and moved ahead 4-0 in the series. Princess took it a little easier in game 5, although she botched her chance for a win and allowed Midnight to make the 15 at the bottom right on a second attempt. Princess won the series 4-1 anyway and will visit the Infinity Torpedoes' Shelley in the bracket finals. A bit of friendly fire on the club side saw Princess join the league lead at three kills while making Midnight the 93rd eliminated player.

Mercedes-Benz Forum, Harrison: Esmeralda v. Potter. East Division rivals clash in Accuracy for the blue cue's lone appearance. Harrison's Esmeralda was solid in game 1, but it took a late fade from Pronger's Potter to give Esmeralda the 1-2 win. She now leads the series 1-0. The Tridents' Potter remained strong in game 2, but a miss a few turns into overtime allowed the Specters' Esmeralda to bounce back for the 1-2 win to go up 2-0 in the series. Esmeralda lost her touch a bit in game 3, and Potter was there to pick up the slack for a 1-4 win. Esmeralda remains ahead 2-1 in what's been a competitive series. Esmeralda again stumbled in game 4, unable to keep the pace as Potter closed out a 1-4 win again to tie the series at 2 with momentum on his side. Esmeralda skidded again in game 5, and Potter was able to hang on in the end for a 3-5 win to earn the 3-2 series win. Potter is set to host Terrace City Knights captain Kiwi in the bracket finals. Potter has his first kill of the year to make Esmeralda the 94th player to exit the Tournament.

Subway Arena, Stonebridge: Hershey v. Noelle. The purple cue exits after another East Division showdown in 9-ball. Central's Noelle faltered early on, and Stonebridge's Hershey managed to earn the game 1 win with a deflection off the 6 to sink the 9 at the bottom side. Hershey leads the series 1-0. The Wolves' Hershey surged late in game 2, but he even surprised himself when he made the 8-9 combination to the bottom left. The Warriors' Noelle hasn't seen much offense with Hershey controlling a series he leads 2-0. Hershey made six balls over the first two turns of game 3, but he went on to miss the 9 twice. Noelle recovered late to strike the 9 at the top left, and she's on the board, although trailing 2-1 in the series. Noelle started fairly well in game 4, but her offense faded again. Hershey was able to pick up the offense he needed for the win to clinch the series at 3-1. Noelle scratched too often in game 5, making it easy for Hershey to pick up the win for a 4-1 series win. Hershey is ready to host the Queens Flames' Mario in the bracket finals. Hershey is at two kills while Noelle's exit as the 95th eliminated player means only half of the league is left standing.

Amazon Field Exhibition Hall, Golden: Valencia v. Dusty. A pair of long-tenured Pilots end the day with Rotation and the silver cue. Valencia started and ended game 1 the same way, making four-ball runs each time to earn a dominant 8-2 win and 1-0 series lead over Dusty. Dusty put up far more of a fight in game 2, keeping things close until Valencia closed out an 8-6 win with a pair of shots to go up 2-0 in the series. Valencia didn't let Dusty get a shot in game 3, making eight straight for an 8-0 win to clinch the series at 3-0. Valencia eased up noticeably in game 4, which allowed Dusty to flourish on offense. Dusty walked away with an 8-3 win this time, cutting Valencia's series lead to 3-1. Dusty didn't get so lucky in game 5, as Valencia returned to form and won on a four-ball run-out for an 8-4 result. Valencia took the series 4-1 and will host South Division rival and Eastside Sharks sophomore Lily in the bracket finals.

We'll aim for a more standard schedule tomorrow.
