We're back for the middle section of the week, beginning with...
Kraft Crowns Park, Royal: The Crowns bring in the Swifts as both teams look to use this Southeast Divisional as a way to jolt their seasons. Boston's Patches had a very rough start to the game, taking just 52 points after a bad bounce ended her turn early. Nightfur gathered 235 for Royal, continuing her home slump despite giving her team a modest lead. Puff II had no answer for the Swifts, bailing at a measly 21 point as their situation gets more dire. Jake is also slumping for the Crowns, falling at a weak 64 points this time, keeping their lead weak but steady at the halfway mark. Gradley put Boston in front with his 443, but the margin is not very large. Kayla failed to cover the deficit with a pathetic 128 for Royal, leaving it up to the final players to decide in a pitiful game. Sweetheart had 375 for the Swifts, leaving them at 891, which might be enough, sadly. Hannah had 287 for the Crowns, leaving them at 714 in the embarrassing loss. Boston is up to 10-9, without much confidence, while Royal is 6-13 on the year.
AT&T Oceanside Stadium, Oceanside: The Sharpshooters are in their fourth of six straight road games as they meet the Waves, who are ending a three-game home stand. Chris lined a massive 805 for Capital City on his turn, establishing a nice lead for the visitors. Snuggle had a decent outing with 359 for Oceanside, but they will begin at a deficit. Missy fired back with 371 for the Sharpshooters, covering the initial damage done by the hosts. Caitlin made some progress for the Waves with 433, cutting into the deficit slightly midway through the game. Sprinkles padded the Capital City lead quite nicely, striking 592 to keep them firmly in control of the game. Celestia slipped up at 216 for Oceanside, likely damaging any chances they had at a comeback. Nicole tapped 295 for the Sharpshooters, bringing their final to 2063. Dewey tried the rally with 571 for the Waves, but they came up short at 1579 total. Capital City keeps pace at 13-7, while Oceanside is unlucky to be 12-13 on the year.
IBM Nighthawks Nest, North Modernistic: The Nighthawks debut their thirds against the Wolves in a battle of expansion teams. The Wolves are in their fifth of a seven-game road trip. Juno cranked out 663 for Stonebridge to lead things off in what's expected to be a fierce battle. Peach matched it on the nose with 663 for North Modernistic, leaving the balance of the rosters to decide this game. Frosty ended at 433 for the Wolves on an errant backhand play, sending it a bit too high to stay in bounds. Luigi fired back with 692 for the Nighthawks, lifting them into a noticeable lead at the halfway mark of the game. Cobalt barely covered the deficit with 326 for Stonebridge, leaving them in a vulnerable position. Cheddar padded the North Modernistic lead with 458 on her turn, giving them a bit more breathing room as the final players come to bat. Prism came up short at 327 for the Wolves, leaving them at a loss with 1749. Bright didn't make it pretty with 93 for the Nighthawks, but they won with 1906 total. North Modernistic improves to 12-8, while Stonebridge is down to 10-12 on the year.
Ebay Center, Queens: The Flames continue to chug along without a break, facing the Sharpshooters in their fifth of six straight road games. Chris blasted 994 for Capital City to begin the game, a great mark once again setting his team up for success. Crystal was quickly bowled over at 33 points for Queens, regressing back into her home slump status. Missy had to deal with a few odd deflections, nerfing her pace and eventually ending her turn with only 101 for the Sharpshooters. Paige had a very weak outing for the Flames at 89 points, further damaging their chances of a comeback. Sprinkles calmly paddled 750 for Capital City, going until a swing and miss ended her turn, a good one at that. Violetta grabbed 200 for Queens on her turn, far from enough to make any kind of meaningful impact. Nicole tacked on 467 at the end for the Sharpshooters, icing their presumptive win at 2312. Max only managed 209 for the Flames, giving them a loss on 531 total in the pitiful team effort. Capital City jumps to 14-7, while Queens falls to 13-11.
Home Depot Forum, Web City: Northeast Division rivals tangle in this game, as the Spiders start a six-game home stand against the Lumberjacks. Fluffina looked very strong for Maplewood, lining 530 right at the start to set a good tone for the visitors. Shadow had 256 for Web City on his turn, putting the recently hot home team behind a bit at the start. Diddley basically doubled the Lumberjacks offense with his 527 output, a good mark for the team trying to snap a road losing streak. Ted dented the deficit a bit with 624 for the Spiders, making progress for the hosts at the halfway mark. Bryant chipped in with 472 for Maplewood, keeping their lead fairly steady. Shiny's recent home slump continued with her scoring only 184 for Web City, hurting their rally. Waluigi also struggled for the Lumberjacks, adding only 149 on his second try after a technical error replay, which gave the team a final score of 1677. Dani completed the comeback with 640 for the Spiders, giving them 1704, just enough to take the win. Web City stays hot at 9-11 as winners of five straight at home, while Maplewood slides again to 11-14 in their seventh straight road loss.
Home Depot Forum, Web City: The Spiders make it a doubleheader, hosting the Gems as the home stand continues. The Gems are also starting a three-game road trip. Smokey lifted 688 for Diamond to begin the scoring in a high-offensive pace. Shadow kept Web City in the game a bit better this time than his last, pounding 494 despite a difficult pitch. Citrus seems unable to break her road slump, taking just 82 for the Gems in this game, which leaves them in a bit of danger. Ted didn't take as much advantage of the situation as he could have, ending on a poor 190 for the Spiders to get them a little closer. Pedey responded with 425 for Diamond, extending their lead once again to get a bit more space. Shiny slipped up at 144 for Web City, showing the toll of a compressed schedule and a doubleheader for the hosts. Rosalina picked up a smooth 545 for the Gems, giving them 1740 overall, which will force the hosts to respond in a big way. Dani had no magic this time, ending on 171 as the Spiders lost with 999. Diamond benefits from being the second ones in, going up to 9-13, just a half-game behind the 9-12 Web City team.
Sprint Pitch, Victoria: The Spurs are back at home for a one-off against the Arrows, who begin a three-game road trip. Sally had a dud to start this game, posting a meager 33 for Archtown. Spice slapped a crisp 796 for Victoria at the start, giving the hosts a massive lead that should serve them well. Sleepy B. had only 273 for the Arrows, doing little to make an impact on the deficit facing her team. Yekaterian added another 454 for the Spurs, padding their lead nicely as their first game after a bye week is going well halfway through. Ruby's recent hot play evaporated completely, as she had a measly 60 for Archtown, further deepening the deficit. B. Chapman exploded with 1019 for Victoria on her turn, extending their lead to a likely untouchable level. Dusky struggled to 145 for the Arrows, leaving them at 511 in a brutal loss. Wario went big as well in closing out the game for the Spurs, collecting 777 to bring their final to 3046 in a huge win. Victoria is up to 8-9, while Archtown slips to 8-16.
Microsoft Pitch, Del Sur: The Monarchs' last home game for awhile comes against the highly competitive Pilots. Valencia popped 836 for Golden on her turn, sending a strong message as the visitors establish their lead. Panda produced a paltry 209 for Southern, just a quarter of the opposing damage. Dusty replied with 874 for the Pilots, padding their lead very nicely with her big game. Hoppy was knocked back at 176 for the Monarchs, making the deficit loom even larger over the hosts at the halfway mark of the game. Strut decided to let Golden cruise, taking a short but effective turn with 314 for the visitors. Pounce fired back with 694 for Southern, showing some life for his team as they will still face an uphill battle with little time to spare. A. Charlton spiked her way to 463 for the Pilots, putting them at 2487 in what will likely go as a win. Shannon went on a massive rally for the Monarchs, pounding 927, but they still lost with 2006. Golden improves to 11-8 despite the late scare, while Southern drops to 6-12.
Ebay Center, Queens: The Flames wrap up a three-game home stand against the Spurs, who are doing a one-off road game. Spice did well for Victoria leading the game off, collecting 458 to stake out a decent lead. Crystal answered with a massive 989 for Queens, continuing her feast-or-famine routine for the hosts at home. Yekaterina covered the deficit with 720 for the Spurs, displaying her high skill level in the appearance. Paige managed to get most of the damage covered for the Flames, swatting 623 on her turn to keep the hosts in front at the halfway mark. Victoria finally caved as B. Chapman hit only 211 on her turn, putting them in a deep deficit. Violetta pummeled 824 with remarkable pace for Queens on her turn, extending the lead significantly. Wario recovered 391 for the Spurs, but they were outmatched in this game, losing with 1780. Max kept the Flames offense strong at the end, posting another 675 to bring them to 3111 overall. Queens' big win gets them to 14-11, while Victoria drops to 8-10 for now.
Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint: The Blades kick off a four-game home stand against Southwest Division rivals, the Infinity Torpedoes, who are starting a four-game road trip. Infinity's Smudge had a middling return for Infinity, getting only 264 to start the scoring. Snowball had her worst home game of the year for Swordpoint, earning just 112 in a low-scoring start to the game. Solaris added another 264 to the Torpedoes score, keeping them in a vulnerable position. Dreamy slipped up at 44 for the Blades, falling to a deflection off the cluttered pitch. Whiskers flicked 706, providing a crucial extension to the Infinity lead to make them far more comfortable. Bandit chipped 353 for Swordpoint, their best performance in the game but far from enough to get them in striking distance. Mr. Snowman went deep with 609 for the Torpedoes, padding their lead at the end as they close with 1843 overall. Stealth had only 164 for the Blades, ending their output at 673 in the loss. Infinity goes to 4-0 in the division and 12-7 overall, while Swordpoint slips to 13-8.
McDonald's Pitch at Pirates Park, Atlantic: The Prestige return to action after a bye week, facing a Pirates team closing a mixed-bag of a seven-game home stand. Acorn had a solid start for Lighton, knocking 544 to establish a lead for the visitors. Delila had a bit of trouble with placement on her swings, ending at 152 after a ball went too high, leaving Atlantic to start from behind. Spirit tapped another 357 for the Prestige, adding nicely to their lead. Pirates rookie Isabella scored 294 for the hosts, failing to couple her longevity with pace as they remain in a deep deficit at the halfway mark. Twinkie I put in a solid performance for Lighton, grabbing 396 to extend the lead a little more. Americus pulled Atlantic a bit closer with 542 on her turn, trying to keep a comeback possible as the final players step up to bat. Salmo went for 352 for the Prestige, leaving the mat 1649 overall for the game. Klaus came as close as possible without getting the win, going on a rally for 659 only to see the Pirates lose with 1647. Lighton escapes the highlands with a win, going to 6-9, while Atlantic drops to 13-7, distinctly into the second tier of teams now.
Home Depot Forum, Web City: The Spiders host their third of a six-game home stand, while the Sharks are in the first of a three-game road trip to close out segment 2 of this week. Chelsea got things going well for Eastside with her 410, a reasonable performance from the captain. Shadow had a bit too much follow through on a high-arcing ball, ending with 229 for Web City after the high hit. Taylor padded the Sharks lead with her 478, another strong effort from the star. Ted slugged 924 for the Spiders, putting them ahead midway through the game after his massive performance. Niki slipped up at 128 for Eastside, failing to cover the deficit the visitors now find themselves in. Shiny did well with 450 for Web City, extending the lead a bit more for the hosts with a player each to go. Paps couldn't make a response, falling with 66 for the Sharks as they lost with 1082. Dani supplied 792 more for the Spiders, ending their game at 2395 in the big win. Web City goes up to 10-12, while Eastside drops to 5-13.
