UPCL Cricket - Week 11 Part 2

The middle segment of Week 11 is ready to go, beginning with...

BMW RockDome, Westside: The Rockers host the second of a four-game home stand against the Warriors, who are in the second of three straight on the road. Central got off to a good start with 458 from Twilight on the opening turn, a solid performance from the reliable captain. Misty has not been good at home, and this was no different, with only 63 going on the board for Westside. Dustin excelled with 535 for the Warriors, padding their lead admirably. Goatee was all pace and no longevity for the Rockers, taking only 295 on her turn as the performance did little against the deficit. Mario gathered 713 for Central on his turn, another big performance that has the visitors far in front at this stage of the game. Midnight charged back with 690 for Westside, undoing most of Mario's damage but leaving a significant deficit in place. Gizmo chipped 248 for the Warriors, a mediocre mark that set them at 1954 overall. Slinks got beat by a tough bounce, ending on 176 for the Rockers to give them 1224 in the loss. Central's surprise victory gets them to 12-6, while dropping Westside to 12-5, just a half-game ahead of the growing pack in third place.

HP Field, Midland: The Predators break out the thirds again in their second of three straight home games, while the Warriors close their road trip in this doubleheader. Twilight had a much harder time in this game, tipping a ball out of bounds to end on 40 points for Central in a poor start. Shawn's pace dropped out from underneath him in this game, but he put up 302 for Midland to take the initial lead. Dustin slipped back to 184 for the Warriors this time, a big drop off that doesn't even cover the deficit. Rainmane drilled 679 for the Predators, extending their lead quite a bit at the halfway mark. Mario pulled Central back into the game, slashing 858 for the visitors to dig deeply into the deficit. Leonardo tripped up with 279 for Midland, leaving them a little bit vulnerable as the final players come to bat. Gizmo covered the deficit with 274 for the Warriors, but not by much as their final score sits at 1356. Fuchsia did very well in recovery with 401 for the Predators, icing their win at 1661. Midland improves to 15-11, while Central is down to 12-7.

Amazon Field, Golden: The Pilots are optimistic about this one-off home game, hosting the last-place Specters in their first of a three-game road trip. Sydney didn't make it easy at the start, lining a crisp 510 for Harrison to lead off the game. Valencia stumbled with 271 for Golden at the start, putting the hosts surprisingly behind early on. Twinkie II had only a measly 64 for the Specters, destabilizing their lead just as they had a chance to make something happen. Dusty covered the deficit with 575 for the Pilots, putting them ahead halfway through the game. Lexi added 490 for Harrison, covering the deficit the other way as the visitors have a noticeable lead. Strut paddled 424 for Golden, restoring a slightly smaller lead before the final players come to bat to decide this back-and-forth game. Sugar slipped with 216 for the Specters, giving them 1280 as their final in what will probably be a loss. A. Charlton produced 281 for the Pilots, securing their victory at 1551 overall with the effort. Golden is up to 12-8 on the year, while Harrison falls again to 3-17.

The Intel Pitch, Diamond: The Gems begin a three-game home stand just as the Union finish a short two-game jaunt. Ms. Puppy absolutely crushed her turn for Modernistic, ripping a massive 1922 to give them a likely untouchable lead right from the start. Smokey tried a similar pace for Diamond, but couldn't last very long, bailing at 258 to put a small dent in the deficit. Daisy added on with 532 for the Union, further firming up their lead with a good performance of her own. Citrus was quickly overwhelmed for the Gems, ending on a measly 33 points as they have virtually no hope of a comeback. Puff I knocked 656 for Modernistic on her turn, displaying remarkable pace to propel the visitors even further ahead in a blowout game. Pedey fell with 144 for Diamond, another of the hosts' players unable to even put up a fight. Strawberry tacked on 382 for the Union at the end, giving them a big final of 3492 in the easy win. Rosalina had a meager 112 for the Gems, leaving them at 547 in the brutal loss. Modernistic is 8-11, while Diamond drops to 9-16 with the stunning defeat.

Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint: The Blades continue their home stand in its second of four games, hosting Southwest Division rivals, the Hummingbirds. Princess felt cheated by the way the ball rolled off her bat, but it ended her turn at only 96 for Tysini. Snowball didn't do much better once her pitch became crowded, ending on 257 in a poor turn for the Swordpoint captain. Leandra came up big for the Hummingbirds, carving out 843 to give them a nice lead in their second attack. Dreamy fired back well for the Blades, belting 1222 to give them a stronger lead at the halfway mark. Charli caved at 195 for Tysini, not even close to covering the deficit. Bandit slipped up at 120 for Swordpoint, not helping their lead very much with a player each to go in a somewhat close game. Brownie covered the deficit with 512 for the Hummingbirds, setting their final score at 1646 in a strong outing for the team. Stealth didn't do much with 173 for the Blades, but it was enough to give them the win with 1772. Swordpoint is up to 14-8, while Tysini drops to 5-12 with the loss.

BMW RockDome, Westside: The Rockers continue a four game home stand in its third game, facing the Surfers as they wrap up a two-game trip. Watermelon twice went to her backhand for Pearl, showing up with 487 for the visitors against her former team. Misty answered back with 547 for Westside, giving them the slight lead at the start of the game. Neopolitan also went to the backhand for the Surfers, adding 584 to their score to give them a stronger second lead. Goatee couldn't cover the deficit for the Rockers, ending on 384 as they've fallen behind at the halfway point. Boots shot back with 639 for Pearl, padding their lead once again in an brewing upset. Midnight produced only 239 for Westside, a middling score that deepens the deficit with little time remaining. Wings tacked on 420 more for the Surfers, putting their total score at 2130. Slinks took matters into her own hands with 1166 for the Rockers, bashing her way to their victory at 2336. Westside's stunning comeback takes them to 13-5, while Pearl unfairly falls to 9-10.

Nestle's Warriors Park, Central: Northeastern rivals on different ends of the standings meet when the Warriors play host to the last-place Specters. Sydney opened with a solid 395 for Harrison, getting them off to a reasonably good start. Twilight was pressed into taking a desperate swing during her turn, and it backfired, ending the effort at 295 for Central. Twinkie II added another 280 for the Specters, giving them a little more of a lead. Dustin fired back with 836 for the Warriors, easily carrying them ahead to a big lead at the halfway mark. Lexi picked up 375 for Harrison, but it wasn't enough to cover the deficit. Mario also did well for Central, ripping 861 to extend their lead again late in the game. Sugar had only 184 for the Specters, leaving their final score at 1234 in the loss. Gizmo ended at 487 for the Warriors after a flailing final swing, giving the hosts their winning total of 2479. Central improves to 13-7 with the win, while Harrison slides to 3-18 on the year.

FedEx Ground, Eastside: The Sharks still seek their first home win, looking to do so against the lowly Specters. Harrison won't make it easy, as Sydney again had a good lead-off effort with 670, and she'll hope for more scoring support from the rest of the team. Chelsea choked on her turn, ending at only 64 as Eastside is already far back. Twinkie II was outraged over pitch conditions during her turn, causing an abrupt ending at 316 for the Specters. Taylor still couldn't get anything back, as her crooked swing only produced 239 for the Sharks, leaving them farther behind. Lexi slapped another 481 for Harrison, padding their lead once again as they continue to roll through this game. Niki answered with 663 for Eastside, showing signs of life for the hosts as the final players step up to bat. Sugar put up 359 for the Specters, giving them a final of 1826 against her first team. Paps had only 155, and he too raised complaints about the field as the Sharks lost with 1121. Harrison's rare win gets them to 4-18 for the year, while Eastside slides back to 6-14.

Subway Field, Stonebridge: The Wolves are finally back at home, while the Stills have a doubleheader before their road trip ends. Easter shrugged off 355 for Todavía in a reasonable start to the game for a tired visiting team. Juno crashed through her turn quite effectively, rallying to 1093 for Stonebridge to give the hosts a large lead early on. Sierra managed to assemble a turn that covered the deficit, going deep with 886 for the Stills. Frosty surprisingly couldn't keep up, abruptly ending with a measly 20 points to put the Wolves behind at midway mark. Sparkles couldn't pull away for Todavía either, ending at a paltry 98 for the visitors. Cobalt took advantage of the misstep to propel Stonebridge ahead on 564 individually, giving them the late lead. Bells poked the Stills ahead with 472, giving them 1811 as their final, which will force a response from the hosts. Prism came up short with an odd deflection ending her turn at 102 for the Wolves, leaving them just short at 1779. Todavía is likely lucky to escape with a win, improving to 13-14, while Stonebridge takes a fall to 10-15.

The Intel Pitch, Diamond: The Gems are next in line to host the Stills, whose six-game road trip ends here. Easter got things going with 583 for Todavía, a strong base for the visitors to build upon. Smokey slipped up for Diamond, collecting only 120 as the hosts will begin this game in a deficit. Sierra managed to get herself in quite a bit of trouble, touching a ball behind her bat and then unsuccessfully trying to dig it out three times before another ball knocked it into the stumps, knocking her down at 272 for the Stills to add to the lead. Citrus lacked command on her turn, eventually falling at 240 for the Gems in a poorly executed turn. Sparkles had a decent pace for Todavía, but her placement was poor, ending on 224 for the visitors, who are now showing significant fatigue. Pedey got Diamond back into the game, flipping a firm 512 for the hosts as they are within striking distance with a player each to go. Bells tried to put it out of reach for the Stills, grabbing 902 to ice their score at 1981. Rosalina had only 208 for the Gems, far from enough as they took the loss with 1080 total. Todavía is back to even at 14-14, while Diamond drops again to 9-17, the heavy schedule doing them no favors.

Cisco Tysini Field, Tysini: The Hummingbirds need to save their season, while the Tridents hope their recent bye week will have them playing a fresh game. Precious struggled for Pronger at the start, taking a meager 112 to open the scoring. Tysini got a slightly better result out of Princess, but she was not great either, giving them only 266 to take a small lead with. Zach barely covered the deficit for the Tridents with 164, with the theme of the game being quite sloppy on both sides so far. Leandra got the Hummingbirds back on track with 495 on her turn, a strong outing to put the hosts ahead at the halfway mark. Spot edged Pronger narrowly ahead 490 on his turn, keeping things competitive at this stage. Charli made a rally with 610 for Tysini, putting them far ahead with a player each to go, a good position for the hosts to take. Potter tried to support for the Tridents, but his 472 wasn't enough, and they took the loss with 1238. Brownie had only 78 for the Hummingbirds, finishing their game at 1449. Tysini jumps up to 6-12, while Pronger's slow start drops them to 9-9.

Apple Park, Todavía: The Stills are back at home, facing a similarly taxed and tired Arrows side to conclude the segment. Sally seems to have broken her road slump a bit, batting her way to 456 for Archtown at the start of this game, a good mark. Easter answered with 472 for Todavía, carrying them just slightly ahead initially. Sleepy B. fired back even better for the Arrows, slashing 514 on a strong turn to produce a better second lead. Sierra couldn't match it for the Stills, ending on 317 as the hosts fall behind halfway through the game. Ruby kept up the balanced Archtown attack with another 496, holding their lead fairly steady. Sparkles allowed a total drop off for Todavía, providing only a paltry 90 for the hosts as they slip far behind with a player each to go. Dusky had 272 for the Arrows, putting them in the Fetty Wap zone as they close with 1738. Bells had only 113 for the Stills, leaving them short at 992 in the loss. Archtown is now 11-17 on the year, while Todavía falls to 14-15.

That's it for now. Pool Day 3 of the B-level Bracket Quarterfinals should post in about two or three hours, and more cricket will be on Twitter @UnitedPCL tonight.
