We're back for full days, and we'll likely string six of them in a row. First up today...
Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Beth v. Noelle. The blue cue starts in 15-ball to open a venue doubleheader. Pearl's Beth didn't have a great break in game 1, but she did enough with it to open a later opportunity. Beth deflected a shot off the 2 to bump the 15 to the top right for the win and 1-0 series lead over Central's Noelle. Given a full game to work with, the Warriors' Noelle impressed with a nine-ball run, but she missed the 15 wide of the top right. The Surfers' Beth poached it for the win to seal the series at 2-0. The shooting quality dropped off in game 3 on both sides, until Noelle picked up the pace for a five-ball run-out at the end. Beth still won the series 2-1, and she'll play in the bracket quarterfinals. Beth earned her second kill of the year, making Noelle the 19th player out of the Tournament.
Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: Bright v. Mams. The venue doubleheader ends with the silver cue in 10-ball. Pearl's Bright had a little luck early on, but Southern's Mams made a pair on each of her last two turns in game 1 to take the win for a 1-0 series lead. The Surfers' Bright didn't get any better in game 2, missing contact on the 9 at a pivotal point in the game. The Monarchs' Mams was able to close out the win on a pair of shots to clinch the series at 2-0. Mams had a majority of the offense again in game 3, but she couldn't finish after a four-ball run. Bright roared back with a tough three-ball run to get his win. Mams took the series 2-1, and she'll visit the Golden Pilots' Dusty in the bracket quarterfinals. It was Mams' first kill of the year, making Bright the 20th eliminated player.
Subway Arena, Stonebridge: Wild Thing v. Ted. The silver cue stays up for Accuracy. Stonebridge's Wild Thing had an early scratch in game 1, and both players missed on the final ball before Web City's Ted knocked it down for his 1-2 win and 1-0 series lead. The Spiders' Ted made a pair on the break, but his game 2 performance unraveled with a sequence of misses. The Wolves' Wild Thing took a strong grip on the game and won 1-5, tying the series at 1 game apiece. Wild Thing maintained a perfect performance in game 3, finally inducing Ted into misses late. Wild Thing's 0-2 win gave him the series at 2-1, and he'll host Maplewood Lumberjacks stalwart Bryant in the bracket quarterfinals. Wild Thing earned his first kill of the year to make Ted the 21st player out of the Tournament.
McDonald's Hall, Atlantic: Jason N. v. Taylor M. The blue cue is back in an Eastern Hills 10-ball series. A slow start to game 1 gave way to Atlantic's Jason N. finding five of the last six shots for the win over Eastside's Taylor M. Jason N. leads the series 1-0. The Pirates' Jason N. didn't have the best performance in game 2, especially as both players struggled with the 8. The Sharks' Taylor M. ran out of steam at the end, and Jason N. put up a three-ball run-out for the win to secure the series at 2-0. Jason N. wasn't able to hold on in game 3, falling apart late in the game as Taylor M. made four of the last six shots for her win. Jason N. took the series 2-1 and he'll visit Mitchell of the Victoria Spurs in the bracket quarterfinals.
GE Stadium Events Center, Southridge: Wario v. Leonardo. The silver cue returns for Accuracy. Southridge's Wario held a lead for much of game 1, but Diamond's Leonardo took control at the end and pushed Wario down. Leonardo picked up the 3-4 win for a 1-0 series lead with a late comeback. The Defenders' Wario held on better in game 2, maintaining his lead until falling into a late tie. This time, the Gems' Leonard promptly scratched, and Wario walked away with a 1-2 win to tie the series at 1. Leonardo and Wario had a near-even battle throughout game 3, with Wario's late miss turning the game into a 2-3 win for Leonardo. The visiting Leonardo also won the series 2-1 and he'll visit Spot of the Pronger Tridents in the bracket quarterfinals.
BMW RockDome, Westside: Slinks v. Hershey. A veteran meets a sophomore in 12-ball with the red cue. Westside's Slinks began with a three-ball run in game 1, which Stonebridge's Hershey easily covered. Slinks had a better plan in the late-game, making her last three balls over two turns after careful positioning to earn the win and 1-0 series lead. The Rockers' Slinks made one of each on the game 2 break, but the Wolves' Hershey soon gave back his wild-card ball. Slinks loosely took control by the end, doing enough for the win to clinch the series at 2-0. Slinks held the lead for much of game 3, but a scratch derailed her offense. Hershey weaved his way to four balls over his last two turns for the win. Slinks won the series 2-1 and she'll host Violetta of the Queens Flames in the bracket quarterfinals.
GE Stadium Events Center, Southridge: Wario v. Tigerette. The host's second series today is in Rotation with the red cue. Southridge's Wario set the tone with a chaotic but successful five-ball run from the break. Commerce's Tigerette never recovered as Wario won 8-0 to take the 1-0 lead in the series. The Defenders' Wario had a little less good fortune in game 2, but he still easily took the win as the Tradewinds' Tigerette committed illegal contact on the 11. Wario won 8-3 this time, sealing the series at 2-0. Wario stepped back a bit in game 3, allowing Tigerette to show off her offense. Tigerette won this one 8-2, but Wario's 2-1 series win will see him visit Lionel of the North Modernistic Nighthawks in the bracket quarterfinals. Wario won the do-or-die scenario, sending Tigerette out of the Tournament 22nd.
AT&T Hall, Oceanside: Jason V. v. Bianca. The red cue goes again with 12-ball. Oceanside's Jason V. made one of each on the game 1 break, giving Southridge's Bianca just enough to work with late in the game. Bianca picked up the win with her advantage, going ahead 1-0 in the series. Game 2 went the other way, with the Defenders' Bianca giving away an early wild-card ball. The Waves' Jason V. turned in a four-ball run and then grabbed the 15 at the top left for the win to tie the series at 1. Jason V. gave away a wild-card ball on the game 3 break, but this time he played around it, overcoming the disadvantage to best Bianca in the game and the 2-1 series. Jason V. punched his ticket to the bracket quarterfinals.
Apple Center, Todavía: Prism v. Stephanie. Down the coast, the red cue is used in 15-ball. Todavía's Prism kept a steady pace in game 1, but Southridge's Stephanie was plenty capable of keeping up. Stephanie pulled ahead 1-0 in the series with a three-ball run-out for the win. The Defenders' Stephanie didn't push the pace much in game 2, battling back-and-forth with the Stills' Prism for most of it. Stephanie finally struck for a pair at the end to get the win, securing the series at 2-0 in the process. Stephanie saw luck abandon her early in game 3, but Prism wasn't able to pick up the pace at all. Stephanie was better in the late-game, making five of the last six balls for the win to sweep the series 3-0. Stephanie will remain on the road in the bracket quarterfinals.
BMW RockDome, Westside: Chimpy v. Jason N. The visitor's second set today is in 8-ball with the blue cue. Westside's Chimpy didn't do much with the break in game 1, and it only took Atlantic's Jason N. three turns to earn the win, finishing with a four-ball run-out for the 1-0 series lead. Both players got robbed for shots on their first turns of game 2, but the Rockers' Chimpy bounced back stronger. Chimpy defeated the Pirates' Jason N. this time with a five-ball run-out to tie the series at 1. Chimpy started strong with six balls over his first two turns. Jason N. fired back with a six-ball run and nearly had more as the 13 hunt on the edge of the top right. Chimpy fired back with a pair to nab the win for a 2-1 series win that sends him to a hosting position in the bracket quarterfinals.
AT&T Hall, Oceanside: Jason V. v. Chris. The host goes a second time today, playing Accuracy with the red cue. Oceanside's Jason V. had a few too many early flaws in game 1, while Capital City's Chris was fortunate his late collapse left him room to hang on for the 4-5 win. Chris owns a 1-0 series lead. The Sharpshooters' Chris avoided the mid-game slump in game 2, nearly going perfect before a late miss left him with a 1-3 win over the Waves' Jason V. Chris secured the series at 2-0 with that victory. Chris stayed strong in game 3, giving Jason V. little room to work with in a close game. Jason V. missed late and Chris held on to win 1-2 this time, sealing a 3-0 series sweep. Chris will host his series in the bracket quarterfinals.
Intel Center, Diamond: Shadow v. Bianca. Family members clash in 13-ball with the red cue. Diamond's Shadow set a quick pace to start game 1, but he was taken off track by a scratch. His positioning never recovered, and Southridge's Bianca took over, winning with a pair of shots to go up 1-0 in the series. The Defenders' Bianca narrowly came up empty on the break, and the Gems' Shadow took over from there. He picked the sides first, then burst away with a five-ball run-out for the win to tie the series at 1. In game 3, Bianca seemed to have a good start, but she couldn't line up a finishing attack. Shadow was a little less choosy and capitalized on Bianca's mistakes to earn the win instead. Shadow won the series 2-1 and will play in the bracket quarterfinals.
Volkswagen Stadium Events Center, Viewpoint Sound: Hoot v. Charli. The red cue stays in action for 15-ball. Viewpoint Sound's Hoot waited out a tough start to game 1, while Tysini's Charli was there to move the game along. Hoot got a favorable shot and turned a 4-15 combination to the bottom side for a surprising finish and 1-0 series lead. The Meteors' Hoot backed off to start game 2, while the Hummingbirds' Charli took a couple of swipes at the 15 that didn't land. Hoot would pick up the win early again, deflecting off the 10 to push the 15 to the top right, while the 10 dropped in the bottom side for a double-pot. Hoot clinched the series at 2-0. Hoot continued to play a creative game in game 3, but Charli would ultimately get this win with a long 10-15 combination to the top left. Hoot won the series 2-1, and he'll visit Midland Predators rookie Kitty in the bracket quarterfinals.
Sony Center, Queens: Hannah v. Sugar. The red cue keeps going with Rotation. Queens' Hannah held the early lead in game 1, but it didn't measure up to a six-ball run-out that gave Swordpoint's Sugar an 8-5 win and 1-0 series lead. The Flames' Hannah held the lead early in game 2 again, but the Blades' Sugar took over with a threatening four-ball run. Sugar didn't get a chance for a supporting attack, as Hannah bounced back on a three-ball run-out to claim the 8-6 win that tied the series at 1. Hannah and Sugar had a brutal game 3, with multiple scratches and a slow pace. Hannah finally pushed through for the 8-5 win to advance on a 2-1 series win. She'll visit Shiny of the Lighton Prestige in the bracket quarterfinals.
Home Depot Forum, Web City: Avril v. Delila. Once more, the red cue plays a series in 13-ball. Web City's Avril led off with a ball on the break in game 1, then went silent from there. Atlantic's Delila took over with a three-ball run and cruised to the win to take a 1-0 series lead. The Pirates' Delila scratched on the break in game 2, and the Spiders' Avril responded with a four-ball run. Avril looked to be in good shape, but she missed the 8 twice, and Delila roared back on a three-ball run-out for the win to secure the series at 2-0. Avril avoided the sweep in a somewhat slow and sloppy game 3 that saw Delila fail to gain positioning. Delila still won the series 2-1 and she'll be on the road again in the bracket quarterfinals.
Volkswagen Stadium Events Center, Viewpoint Sound: Dani v. Summer. The day ends with the blue cue in 10-ball. Neither player was very sharp in game 1, but Viewpoint Sound's Dani earned the win on a three-ball run after a costly mistake by Maplewood's Summer. Dani leads the series 1-0. The Meteors' Dani had control with a four-ball run in game 2, but she peaked too early. Dani left the 10 at the bottom right, and the Lumberjacks' Summer showed no hesitation in tapping it down for the win to tie the series at 1. Summer had a late four-ball run, but she potted the 9 illegally. Dani converted on the 10 to the top right to win game 3 and the 2-1 series all at once. Dani is set to host again in the bracket quarterfinals.
That's all for today. Tomorrow may feature an odd schedule for a full day, with a little morning play, a little in the afternoon and the bulk in a night session.
