We're ready to go with some weekend action. First up...
Kraft Forum, Royal: Kayla v. Bright. The silver cue starts the day in 15-ball. Royal's Kayla had a missed contact on the 4 in game 1, and that proved costly when Pearl's Bright took the 4-15 combination to the top right from ball-in-hand. Bright leads the series 1-0. The Surfers' Bright had a decent break in game 2, but he fouled with illegal contact while aiming on the 5. The Crowns' Kayla returned the favor from before, making the 5 and adding a 6-15 combination to the bottom left for the win to tie the series at 1. Kayla and Bright managed to play a full-term game 3, and it ended in brutal fashion. Kayla missed a cut on the 15 and left it near the top left for Bright to tap in for the win and 2-1 series win. Bright will host the Infinity Torpedoes' Blaze in the bracket quarterfinals.
Subway Arena, Stonebridge: Jane v. Twinkie II. East Division rivals meet in 10-ball with the purple cue. Stonebridge's Jane was a little amped to start game 1, sending the cue ball off the table on the break. Harrison's Twinkie II never really got going, and Jane won on a seven-ball run-out to take a 1-0 series lead. The Specters' Twinkie II had a nice attack in game 2, but the Wolves' Jane countered it with perfect timing, winning on a four-ball run-out to secure the series at 2-0. Twinkie II took control a bit in game 3, missing her first look at the 10 but then picking up a 4-10 combination to the bottom left for her lone win over Jane, who won the series 2-1. Jane will play a visiting role in the bracket quarterfinals.
Google Hall, Modernistic: Ms. Puppy v. Isabella. Another 10-ball series uses the silver cue. Atlantic's Isabella found a groove with a three-ball run just after the middle of game 1, but Modernistic's Ms. Puppy took over and made a pair for the win to go ahead 1-0 in the series. The Union's Ms. Puppy wasn't able to take her effort to the next level in game 2, leading to another close battle. The Pirates' Isabella did about the same, but she was able to make the last two shots for the win to tie the series at 1. In game 3, Isabella made a four-ball run before a scratch while shooting on the 9. Ms. Puppy got the 9 but missed her cut on the 10, and Isabella buried it at the bottom left for the win and 2-1 series win. Isabella is set to visit the Golden Pilots' Strut in the bracket quarterfinals.
Verizon Field Events Center, Pacific: Twinkie I v. Shelley. West Division foes are up for 13-ball with the green cue. Pacific's Twinkie I can blame a pair of scratches for holding her back in game 1, and she still almost got the win on a three-ball run. Instead, Infinity's Shelley had enough time to answer with a three-ball run-out for the 1-0 series lead. The Torpedoes' Shelley was called for a stick foul in game 2 as she made her last stripe. The Volcanoes' Twinkie I recovered well with a pair at the end for the win, tying the series at 1. The momentum didn't carry over for Twinkie I, who made no shots and saw her late scratch lead to Shelley's three-ball run-out from ball-in-hand. Shelley won the series 2-1 and will visit the Royal Crowns' Jake in the bracket quarterfinals. Twinkie I is the 15th player to exit the Tournament, and Shelley has her first kill after a perfect second round. This was also Shelley's 100th unique opponent.
GE Stadium Events Center, Southridge: Wario v. Leonette. Another green cue series goes in 9-ball. A close battle in game 1 saw Pacific's Leonette miss her chance on the 9 before Southridge's Wario buried it at the top left for the win. Wario leads the series 1-0. The Defenders' Wario turned dominant in game 2, making a six-ball run off the break and eventually adding a three-ball run-out when Leonette failed to make a shot. Wario's win sealed the series for him at 2-0. Leonette stepped in to make a short run at the end of game 3 after Wario didn't show the same control. Wario still won the series 2-1, and he'll visit the Southern Monarchs' Pounce in the bracket quarterfinals.
Gillette Center, Swordpoint: Stealth v. Spirit. More from the West Division, as the blue cue enters the action in 12-ball. Swordpoint's Stealth made a pair of solids on the game 1 break, but Lighton's Spirit had better positioning after that. Spirit made a four-ball run at one point, and she added the 12 on a kick to the bottom side for the win to take a 1-0 series lead. The Prestige's Spirit didn't quite get the positioning she wanted early in game 2, but she improvised well enough to win on a three-ball run-out after successfully blocking the left corners to prevent a surge from the Blades' Stealth. Spirit clinched the series at 2-0. Game 3 saw Spirit take solids early on and then add a four-ball run-out after Stealth suffered a missed contact. Spirit swept the series 3-0 and will remain on the road in the bracket quarterfinals.
Nissan Hall, Infinity: Smudge v. Ruby. The red cue joins the party for a 10-ball series between West Division rivals. Infinity's Smudge had an empty break in game 1, and TodavĂa's Ruby replied with the 1 in the top side and a 2-10 kick combination to the top left for the win. Ruby leads the series 1-0. The Stills' Ruby had a scratch on the break in game 2 and another one later on, but the Torpedoes' Smudge had just choppy offense. Ruby was able to bounce back for the final pair to get the win and seal the series at 2-0. Ruby had another solid start in game 3, but Smudge finally popped up with a five-ball run-out to get this win. Ruby settled for a 2-1 series win, and she'll visit the Royal Crowns' Brownie in the bracket quarterfinals.
Subway Arena, Stonebridge: Lindsay v. Blizzard. The red cue gets another look in 10-ball. Both players tried to be more intimidating than they were in game 1. Stonebridge's Lindsay dropped off the pace near the end, and Zenith's Blizzard won on an understated four-ball run-out for the 1-0 series lead. The 10 ended up near the top left for much of game 2, and the Wolves' Lindsay narrowly missed it on a 4-10 combination try. The Skywatchers' Blizzard landed some nice shots, but Lindsay got the win on a three-ball run-out to tie the series at 1. Lindsay took control of the offense again at the end of game 3, making a four-ball run-out this time to beat Blizzard 2-1 in the series. Lindsay will host the North Modernistic Nighthawks' Gal in the bracket quarterfinals.
Chevrolet Center, Everton: Cleo v. Stealth. The visitor's second series today is in 10-ball with the silver cue. Everton's Cleo controlled game 1, but lost it after a failed attempt to make a 3-10 combination on a jump shot. Swordpoint's Stealth converted the same play to the bottom left from ball-in-hand to get the win and 1-0 series lead. The Blades' Stealth made a jump shot on the 1, but it was on his second turn that he deflected a shot off the 3 to drive the 10 into the bottom left. This gave him the win and sealed the series at 2-0 over the Eagles' Cleo. In game 3, Cleo rattled off a five-ball run and a three-ball run-out to get the win with dominant play. Stealth won the series 2-1, and he'll get a chance to host Cleo's Eagles teammate, the captain Goldy, in the bracket quarterfinals. Cleo is out of the Tournament, the 16th to fall and the first to go down to Stealth.
AT&T Hall, Oceanside: Rocky v. Patches. The red cue is back for Rotation between Waves teammates. Game 1 was a close battle initially, but Patches eventually unleashed a five-ball run-out to claim an 8-3 win over Rocky. Patches leads the series 1-0. Patches snatched the lead early in game 2 as well, but Rocky made things very interesting with a close finish. In the end, Patches stuck around long enough to get an 8-7 win to clinch the series at 2-0. Patches wasn't able to find a surge on offense in game 3, while Rocky was sharp to earn an 8-4 win. Patches took the series 2-1 and will host the Viewpoint Sound Meteors captain Hoot in the bracket quarterfinals.
Volkswagen BeetleDome, Viewpoint Sound: Josie v. Sydney C. The green cue checks out after 10-ball. Viewpoint Sound's Josie was able to pick up the pace a little bit in game 1, grabbing a three-ball run-out for the win and 1-0 series lead over Modernistic's Sydney C. The 7 gave both players some trouble in game 2, but the Union's Sydney C. scratched on her second attempt at it. This gave the Meteors' Josie ball-in-hand to ignite a three-ball run-out for the win to secure the series at 2-0. Josie wasn't able to sustain her offense long enough to sweep, as Sydney C. bounced back with a short run to take game 3. Josie's 2-1 series win has her set to host Swordpoint Blades newcomer Mams in the bracket quarterfinals. Sydney C. is the 17th eliminated player, giving Josie her first kill of the year.
Porsche Events Center, Zenith: Blizzard v. Klaus. The silver cue is done after 9-ball. Zenith's Blizzard rattled off a three-ball run from the break and added a pair at the end when Central's Klaus didn't match her intensity. Blizzard leads the series 1-0 after game 1. The Warriors' Klaus had two chances to get the 9 down in game 2, but he missed both attempts before the Skywatchers' Blizzard scooped up the win with a shot to the top right. Blizzard has clinched the series at 2-0. Klaus finally showed some extended power with a four-ball run, only for him to miss on the 6 and watch Blizzard make a four-ball run-out for the win in game 3. Blizzard swept the series 3-0 and will host the Pronger Tridents captain Precious in the bracket quarterfinals.
T-Mobile Center, Victoria: Spice v. Wild Thing. In 10-ball, the purple cue makes an exit. A tough and grinding game 1 went to Victoria's Spice, as her miss on the 10 initially left no angle for Web City's Wild Thing to work with. Spice then made it on the second try for the 1-0 series lead. The Spiders' Wild Thing again had a chance to capitalize on a late miss from the Spurs' Spice in game 2, but he couldn't corral the 10. Spice banked it into the top side at the end for the win to secure the series at 2-0. Wild Thing had a little more offense in game 3, but he scratched as he made the 9. Spice easily took the 10 from ball-in-hand for the win and 3-0 series sweep to earn the right to host Pearl Surfers co-captain Watermelon in the bracket quarterfinals. Wild Thing is the 18th player out of the Tournament, and Spice has her first kill this year.
Intel Center, Diamond: Leonardo v. Megan. The red cue cycles out after this 15-ball series. Neither player really separated themselves early in game 1, but Diamond's Leonardo produced a shocking finish with a deflection off the 9 to take the 15 at the bottom right. He leads Oceanside's Megan 1-0 in the series. The Waves' Megan offered a response in game 2, double-potting the 6 and 15 to the top corners with a well-cut shot after the Gems' Leonardo lost possession. Megan's crafty win tied the series at 1. Leonardo took no time at all to win game 3, kicking the 1 to the bottom right and then making a 2-15 combination deflected off the 5 at the bottom left. Leonardo beat Megan 2-1 in the series, and he'll go on to host Harrison Specters captain Twinkie II in the bracket quarterfinals. Leonardo picked up his first kill of the year to make Megan the 19th eliminated player. We've reached 10% of all players eliminated.
Toyota Arena, Freedom: Blake v. Sarah. The day ends with the blue cue in 10-ball. Tysini's Sarah was the better player in game 1, but her late five-ball run ended with the 10 just shy of the tipping point at the bottom right. Freedom's Blake made a perfectly weighted shot to nudge it in for the win and 1-0 series lead. The Cascades' Blake made an improbable four-ball run to open game 2, but she stalled out there. Shortly after, the Hummingbirds' Sarah made a 5-10 combination to the top left for the win to tie the series at 1. Blake wasn't able to finish much off in game 3, leaving offense on the table for Sarah to piece together in the decisive win. Sarah's 2-1 series win lines her up to visit Modernistic Union newcomer Quincy in the bracket quarterfinals.
There's just three days left. Tomorrow's workflow pattern remains to be determined.
