Summer Cricket League: Week 6 Part 1

We're back with more cricket action. Over the next seven days, there will be six days of action as get to the end of week 7 around the same time as the tournament ends, June 18th. This will ease the administrative action with the full slate of Showcases available to the UPCL teams. Anyway, the first of the five games today features...

The American Rebels hosting the Prague Checkmates. Pancho Barrios crushed 888 to open for Prague. Axel Cools answered with 1144 for American, setting the tone early in the game. Lucila Zavala shot right back with 911 for the Checkmates. Louvel Lefevre was the first to stumble, hitting 211 for the Rebels. Hyunjae Kwak countered with 225 for Prague, keeping them in control. Sander Lambert swatted 608 to pull American significantly closer. Corentin Aerts lifted 243 for the Checkmates, leaving them within the range of being caught. Irsyad Sudjana did just that, lining 312 for the Rebels to make it a close game. Darryl Estrada faltered with 176 in his homecoming game, leaving Prague vulnerable again. Sabino Chacon couldn't cash in, getting mowed down at 45 for American. Rayan Carranza supplied only 108 for the Checkmates, producing a final of 2551. Cisco Solorio picked up 260 to give the Rebels a winning final of 2580 in the hard-fought offensive game. American went to 8-1 while Prague fell to 4-6.

Next up, the Amsterdam Hotstove welcome the Melbourne Renegades. Charlie Thompson started with just 96 for Melbourne. Jerry Burke put up 392 for Amsterdam, giving them a solid lead. Theodore White slugged 863 for the Renegades, putting them in the lead. Yaozu Miao's 231 left the Hotstove at a deficit early in the game. Sancho Ramos rallied for 401 for Melbourne, adding onto the lead. Carlos Barajas answered back with a strong 594 for Amsterdam, staying competitive. Rana Naqvi put up 359 for the Renegades. Veto Casas slashed 508 for the Hotstove, as the hosts refuse to roll over against their very strong guests. Sikke Eichel grabbed 256 for Melbourne, giving them an uncertain lead. Andrew Reynolds posted 200 for Amsterdam, failing to cover the gap. You could say the Renegades had a high Wattage, as Stanley Watts blasted 503 to give them 2478. Manolito Avalos muscled up with 441 for the Hotstove, but they lost with 2366. The thrilling game saw the Renegades jump to 9-3 while the Hotstove drop to 2-11, but they didn't deserve such a fate.

Out in Asia, the Bangkok Sixes host the Seoul Crushers. Natal Badillo began with only 231 for Seoul. Firdoze Uns put Bangkok ahead with 256. Gwandoya Makeba got stuffed at 162 for the Crushers. Gilbert Berry had a 487 wiped out by a technical error, and he instead scored 309 for the Sixes. Leandro Gamboa managed just 192 for the hapless Seoul side. Aleix Nieto batted 401 for Bangkok, extending their lead. Max Jennings got all of Nieto's points back for the Crushers, hitting precisely 400 to essentially wash out. Zuri Okafor stumbled with 69 for the Sixes, leaving them vulnerable. Frank Schmidt popped 379 for Seoul, giving them the lead. Rodas Nunez couldn't keep pace, providing 218 for Bangkok. After 96 from Zdenko Jansky, the Crushers finished with 1460. Luis Godinez also hit 96 for the Sixes, taking the loss with 1349. Seoul improves to 2-7 while Bangkok drops to 8-3.

Back to the lowlands, with the Brussels Chocolatiers bringing in the Guatemala Conquistadors, as they continue their road adventures. Frisco Romero grabbed only 177 for Guatemala to start. Patrido Salazar struggled to 126 for Brussels. Eustacio Zarraga broke free for 570 for the Conquistadors. Florent Claes got 408 back for the Chocolatiers. Kenzo Hashimoto hit 256 for Guatemala, keeping them in the lead. Dobromil Zeman shot back with 414 for Brussels, making it a close game. Curtis Caldwell lifted a meager 64 for the Conquistadors, putting them in danger. Rodas Cazares ripped 429 against his home country's team, putting the Chocolatiers ahead. Blue Lightning created a storm for Guatemala, as Azul Mora crushed 1056 to give the visitors a massive lead. Eric Zaragoza folded with 67 for Brussels against his home country's team. Adrien Laurent had only 48 in his homecoming game, giving his Conquistadors a final of 2171. Jaturun Choen mustered only 57 for the Chocolatiers, producing their losing total of 1501. Guatemala jumps to 5-3 while Brussels falls to 5-10.

Finally, the Caracas Hitmen host the Guatemala Conquistadors, as they begin to get road weary from this four-game stretch. Frisco Romero pounded 424 for Guatemala in his homecoming game. Vitaya Grichson lined 439 to give Caracas a modest lead. Eustacio Zarraga tallied 276 for the Conquistadors. Barasa Contee crushed 561 to give the Hitmen a strong lead. Kenzo Hashimoto continued with 214 for Guatemala, as they appear fatigued. Noppadon Gruemor tacked on 460 for Caracas. Curtis Caldwell managed just 82 for the Conquistadors as they labor through the game. Trevor Watson's 92 made it appear as if the Hitmen were relenting. Azul Mora had just 112 for Guatemala in his homecoming game, likely guaranteeing a loss for the visitors. Maynard Cabagnot picked up 183 for Caracas. Adrien Laurent had a respectable 271 for the Conquistadors, but they lost with 1379. Bojino Luo iced the Hitmen victory with 379 for a total of 2114. Caracas is now 3-7 while Guatemala regresses to 5-4.
