Summer Cricket League: Week 7 Part 2

I can't accurately guess what I'll be doing at any given time today or tomorrow, so here's cricket a bit early. The rest of the pool semifinals are this afternoon and evening, and following that, there should be a new schedule and standings update. We begin with...

The Guatemala Conquistadors hosting the Manila Pacmen. Haejun Ki started with just 112 for Manila. Frisco Romero launched 895 for Guatemala for an early lead. Porfirio Cazares stumbled with 82 for the Pacmen, putting them in severe trouble early. Eustacio Zarraga tallied 117 for the Conquistadors. Sander Verheyen grabbed 162 for Manila, doing little to pull them back. The scoring appears stagnated after Kenzo Hashimoto had 50 for Guatemala. The Pacmen got back in the game with 529 from Gerben Bovelt, who is likely to be an All-Star. Curtis Caldwell suffered a bad bounce, putting the Conquistadors in trouble with just 64. Dries Renard put up 103 for Manila, failing to capitalize on the opportunity. Azul Mora slugged 441 for Guatemala, extending their lead. The Pacmen lost with 1039 when Richard Miller stumbled to 51 points for the visitors, sealing a loss for them. The Conquistadors won with 2015 (that's the year, too) after 448 from Adrien Laurent, who displayed some nifty bat work, weaving in and out of the bowled balls. Guatemala is now 6-6 while Manila drops to 5-6.

Moving along, the Johannesburg Lions welcome the Amsterdam Hotstove. Jerry Burke began with 153 for Amsterdam. Wiebe Becker belted 762 for Johannesburg against his home country's team. Yaozu Miao knocked 144 for the Hotstove, as it appears they will again struggle. Normando Alonso ripped 414 for the Lions, pulling the lead to a massive size. Carlos Barajas also got cut down at 153, failing to bat a bouncing ball for Amsterdam. Ken Howard slugged another 740 for Johannesburg, extending the lead. Veto Casas knocked 291 for the Hotstove, the first respectable effort from one of their players this game. Lucio Adame swatted 553 for the Lions, readying himself for an All-Star appearance. Andrew Reynolds hit 96 for Amsterdam, almost guaranteeing a loss for them. Johannesburg put it in cruise control when Oshri Aharonov hit 80. Manolito Avalos had only 51 for the Hotstove, failing to get himself set, as they lost with 888. Pieter Hendrickx tacked on 482 for the Lions at the end, making it 3037 as their final in the win. Johannesburg moves up to 7-7 while Amsterdam is 2-14.

Next up, the Madrid Toros host the American Rebels. Axel Cools managed 257 for American to lead off. Spencer Howard creamed 480 for Madrid against his native country's team. Louvel Lefevre continued to slump with only 51 for the Rebels. Pepillo Gamboa got caught up with a ball and ended with 25 points for the Toros. Sander Lambert misread an angle and ended up with 176 for American, not quite covering the deficit. Fellow Belgian Lennert Verheyen hit only 129 for Madrid, keeping the game tight. Irsyad Sudjana clubbed 591 to pull the Rebels into the lead. Thabo Chahine got locked in for the Toros, swinging 668 to retake the lead. Sabino Chacon stumbled with 67 for American, leaving them behind. Guillem Gamboa clobbered 417 for Madrid before being unable to hit a high ball. Cisco Solorio posted 288 for the Rebels, but they lost with 1430. Martin Badillo slapped 385 to give the Toros a final of 2104. Madrid moves to 9-8 while American is 8-3.

Continuing to Manila, where the Pacmen bring in the Amsterdam Hotstove. Jerry Burke ripped 543 to begin for Amsterdam. Haejun Ki had only 82 for Manila, an interesting start to this game. Yaozu Miao poekd 112 for the Hotstove, adding on slightly to the lead. Porfirio Cazares did little to help the Pacmen, posting 122. The offenses continued to slog with Carlos Barajas tapping 112 for Amsterdam. Sander Verheyen stumbled with 72 for Manila, keeping the score low. Veto Casas copied it exactly for the Hotstove, hitting a measly 72 as well. Gerben Bovelt crushed 839 for the Pacmen, giving them the lead as he blew the game open while wiping out the entirety of the Hotstove's work to that point. Andrew Reynolds shot back with 564 for Amsterdam, the most unexpected effort of the game thus far. Dries Renard fell with 63 for Manila, putting them in serious danger. Manolito Avalos tacked on 218 to give the Hotstove a 1621 final. Richard Miller had only 120 for the Pacmen, leaving them short at 1298. Amsterdam jumps to 3-14 while Manila falls to 5-7.

Finally, the Melbourne Renegades host the Guatemala Conquistadors. Frisco Romero slapped 656 for Guatemala to begin. Charlie Thompson took 115 for Melbourne. Eustacio Zarraga added 263 for the Conquistadors. Theodore White pulled the Renegades back with 476. Kenzo Hashimoto had 230 for Guatemala, keeping them in charge of the game. Sancho Ramos answered directly with 260 for Melbourne, keeping things within range for the hosts. Curtis Caldwell broke out of his slump, chipping 304 for the Conquistadors. Rana Naqvi hit a measly 8 points for the Renegades, leaving them well behind. Azul Mora struck with 544 for Guatemala, padding their lead comfortably. Sikke Eichel managed only 96 for Melbourne, confirming an impending loss. Adrien Laurent hit a weak 12 to give the Conquistadors 2009 total. Stanley Watts had just 176 for the Renegades, and they lost with 1131. Guatemala improves to 7-6 while Melbourne drops to 10-5.

That's all for now. I know there's pool today and tomorrow, but I don't know when the final Showcase games and the end of the Week 7 for SCL action will happen, either today or tomorrow. The SCL will feature a break over this weekend as the focus shifts to UPCL administrative tasks and the upcoming postseason celebrations. More information as it becomes available.
