Select Cricket 2018 - Week 9

We're back with the new week of cricket action. First up...


UPS Ground, Maplewood: The Lumberjacks want to get even for the season against the Specters. Lexi sits for the visitors, while Bryant takes rest for the hosts. Sydney had a shaky start with 251 for Harrison, putting them in a tough position early on. Whiskers answered with a fiery 966 for Maplewood, giving the hosts a confident lead. Twinkie II shot back with 524 for the Specters, trying to mitigate the deficit facing her squad. Diddley faltered with 143 for the Lumberjacks in this appearance, weakening their lead at the halfway mark. Rudolph's comeback work for Harrison suffered a quick exit on a deflection at 199. Gabe added 646 for Maplewood's offense, giving their lead a nice extension with a player each to go. Mitchell had only 169 for the Specters at the end, leaving them short at 1143 in the loss. Summer tacked on another 678 for the Lumberjacks, capping their win at 2433. Maplewood earned the season split to get to 8-11, just a half game back of the 8-10 Harrison team.


Microsoft Pitch, Del Sur: The Monarchs face the Wolves in the next game, with Hershey and Avril getting scheduled rest for various reasons. Juno levied a heavy attack on the hosts, hauling in 803 for Stonebridge on the opening turn. Hoppy held her ground well in response for Southern, picking up 543 to keep the hosts in range after an electric first turn. Frosty covered that damage with 594 for the Wolves, a strong second attack to keep her team in control. Panda made progress with 692 for the Monarchs, but they remain behind halfway through a high-scoring game. Vladimir couldn't keep up the pace for Stonebridge, melting at a pitiful 20 points that endangers their lead. Pounce fired back with a merciless 650 for Southern, pulling them ahead late in the game. Cobalt got beat back on a deflection at 260 for the Wolves, leaving them short with 1677. Dominic tacked on another 870 for the Monarchs, keeping them dominant at 2755. Southern's run of home form continues to 11-7, while Stonebridge drops to 8-11.


GE Stadium, Southridge: The Defenders take on the Crowns in the castle derby, with Nightfur suspended for this game for the Crowns, while Bianca rests for the Defenders. Kayla pulled in 399 for Royal on the first turn, a solid start for the visitors. Debby charged back with 510 to put Southridge ahead at the start of the game. Jake tried to swing too hard for the Crowns, and a ball got away from him early on to end his effort at 130. Stephanie rallied to 814 on a pacey second attack for the Defenders, padding their lead at the midway mark. Jeremias couldn't get Royal back on track with only 171 on his turn, allowing the deficit to grow. Caitlin tagged 529 for Southridge in another potent attack, padding the hosts' lead to a confident level. Cassie had an early swing she couldn't pull back from, ending with a pitiful 48 as the Crowns drop the result at 748. Hughbert iced it with 226 for the Defenders, giving them 2079 overall. Southridge cruised to another win to get to 13-2, while Royal takes a firm beating back to 7-9.


Mercedes-Benz Field, Harrison: The Specters try to get back on track in another tough game, facing the Meteors. Dani sits for the visitors for performance, while Sydney takes rest for the hosts. Mams picked up 352 at the start for Viewpoint Sound, a decent effort from their captain. Twinkie II answered with 377 for Harrison, putting them very narrowly ahead initially. Hoot replied with a strong 512 for the Meteors, upping the ante on the second attack. Lexi regained a small lead for the Specters with 532 on her turn just before the midway point. Nibbles kept Viewpoint Sound as a challenging opponent, clubbing 535 on his turn to challenge the hosts again. Rudolph couldn't meet the challenge for Harrison, his 240 putting them behind for the first time late in the game. Vincent provided 650 at the end for the Meteors, boosting their lead at the end to a final score of 2049. Mitchell tried a rally with 522 for the Specters, but they ended up losing at 1671. Viewpoint Sound got a gritty win at 8-4, while Harrison drops to 8-11.


The Intel Pitch, Diamond: The Gems begin a home doubleheader against the Lumberjacks in this game. Whiskers sits for the visitors, while the hosts are without their captain, Smokey. Diddley grabbed 332 for Maplewood in a decent start against the last-place team. Rosalina fired back on an electric opening turn, blasting 915 to give Diamond a big lead early on. Bryant shot back with 439 for the Lumberjacks, a strong turn but not enough to overcome the current deficit. Citrus had a mild 295 for the Gems, causing their lead to slip a bit at the halfway point. Gabe replied with 574 for Maplewood, getting back into the game with the excellent performance. Pedey had a poor 217 for Diamond, restoring a small lead with the final players coming to bat. Summer couldn't play a deflection for the Lumberjacks, falling at 166 to give them a final score of 1511, forcing the hosts into a small response. Cassandra countered with 629, securing the win for the Gems at 2056. Diamond is up 4-14, while Maplewood drops to 8-12.


The Intel Pitch, Diamond: The Gems complete the home doubleheader without tenured star Citrus, while Dani sits in another road game for the Meteors. Mams built up a good first attack for Viewpoint Sound, establishing them at 664 initially. Rosalina shot back with another big game for the Gems, pummeling 784 to give them a slight edge after the first turn. Hoot got a little jumpy on his last swing, ending at 164 for the Meteors in a poor outing. Pedey provided a good run of support for the Gems, hauling in 552 to extend their lead midway through the game. Nibbles lost control on his backhand, but he produced 665 for Viewpoint Sound, covering the deficit with his play. Smokey couldn't get as much back for Diamond with 354, but they maintain a lead heading into the final players' turns. Vincent weakened the Meteors again with only 280, setting up an interesting finish as they close with 1773. Cassandra countered with 408, securing the Gems' win at 2098. Diamond has turned a corner, rising to 5-14, while Viewpoint Sound takes a surprising knock back to 8-5.


Toyota Pitch, Freedom: The Cascades are without Stripes after her two pool series yesterday, while Summer sits for performance for the Lumberjacks. Whiskers wasted no time in giving Maplewood a massive lead with 1198 on the opening turn. Jasmine had a solid 463 in response, but Freedom is at a deficit right from the start of this game. Diddley supplied the Lumberjacks with a decent 272 on his turn, buffering some of the damage done against their lead. Stinky made minor progress for the Cascades with 304, not enough to truly dent the deficit on the second attack. Bryant tacked on another calm 295 for Maplewood, keeping their lead intact with the effort. Roxy made a push with 706 for Freedom, closing the gap with a player each to go. Gabe made a good supporting run for the Lumberjacks with 576 on his turn, icing their offense at 2341. Nikolai had a good pace, but he fell at 328 for the Cascades, leaving them at a loss with 1801 overall. Maplewood bounces back to 9-12, while Freedom drops to 12-8.


Pepsi Prestige Park, Lighton: The Prestige begin a home doubleheader against the Specters, with Katelynn on the bench for the hosts while Rudolph sits for the visitors. Sydney ripped 817 for Harrison on the opening turn, immediately challenging the hosts with her pacey showing. Acorn was not bothered by the attack, replying with 847 to put Lighton ahead on the first turn. Twinkie II covered the deficit with 408 for the Specters, producing a smaller second lead. Spirit got beat on a deflection at 36 for the Prestige, putting them behind at the midway point. Lexi tacked on 487 more for Harrison, strengthening their lead with the bold attack. Nicole pulled back with 611 for Lighton, keeping them in range as the final players come to bat. Mitchell had a sloppy turn with only 96 for the Specters, leaving them at 1808. Waluigi did enough with 386 for the Prestige, giving them a win at 1880. Lighton rises to 8-5 while pushing Harrison back to 8-12.


Pepsi Prestige Park, Lighton: The Prestige complete the doubleheader with Spirit on the bench, while Vladimir gets this one off for the Wolves. Juno slashed her way to 893 for Stonebridge in this one, giving them a hefty lead early in the game. Acorn again poked Lighton ahead despite a strong attack from the opponents, slamming 919 to give the hosts a lead. Frosty was much lower in scoring for the Wolves, taking 283 to cover the deficit lightly. Katelynn countered with 559 for the Prestige, putting them distinctly ahead at the halfway mark. Hershey pulled back with 692 for Stonebridge, covering the deficit again but not by much. Nicole fought it off with 631 for Lighton, maintaining their lead late in the high-scoring game. Cobalt didn't produce a challenge for the Wolves, his 210 leaving them short at a loss with 2078. Waluigi enjoyed a stress-free turn with 592 for the Prestige, keeping their offense strong in a win at 2701. Lighton bounces to 9-5, while Stonebridge sinks to 8-12.


Microsoft Pitch, Del Sur: The Monarchs go without Avril again in this game, while the Gems sit Cassandra for rest as they go through fairly regular roster rotation. Rosalina couldn't play a slight deflection, falling at only 57 as Diamond gets off to a rough start this time. Hoppy also struggled, but her 176 gave Southern a slight edge at the start of the game. Citrus chipped 279, only stopping there as the Gems star was unable to corral a ball on her backhand. Panda assembled a fantastic attack of 950 for the Monarchs, giving them a huge lead at the halfway point. Pedey crumbled at 69 for Diamond, unable to get them back into the fight. Pounce paddled another 558 for Southern on his turn, extending their lead significantly. Smokey ended with a weak 164, as the Gems returned to poor form in a loss at 569. Dominic tried to keep his turn going, but eventually succumbed to a cluttered pitch at 453 for the Monarchs, for a total of 2137. Southern continues to be a lethal foe at home, rising to 12-7, while Diamond is down to 5-15.


Sprint Pitch, Victoria: The Spurs are set to face the Cascades, with the hosts missing Sage in this game while the visitors rest Nikolai this time out. Jasmine got too aggressive on her swings, ending with only 115 for Freedom in a difficult opener. Spice got knocked out at 313 for Victoria after a deflection bounced one of her swings out of play. Stinky had a composed attack for the Cascades, keeping in good form to pick up 883 to give the visitors a nice second attack. Yekaterina couldn't keep her swing in play, clipping a corner to end with 289 for the Spurs, who trail at the halfway mark. Roxy picked up 404 to extend the Freedom lead, giving them a clear edge at this stage of the game. Wario took 337 for Victoria, trying to minimize the damage done with a player each to go. Stripes slipped up at 21 for the Cascades, the poor turn leaving them at a total of 1423. Strawberry nearly did the comeback for the Spurs, but a deflection downed her short at 424 for a total of 1363. Freedom gets away with a sloppy finish, going to 13-8, while Victoria is 7-10 after the loss.


Volkswagen Stadium, Viewpoint Sound: The Meteors welcome the Cascades to close out Week 9, with Stripes back on the bench against a former team, while the hosts sit Hoot this time. Jasmine served up 439 for Freedom this time, a stable start from the captain. Mams kept it close with 351 for Viewpoint Sound, minimizing the damage done by the visiting captain. Stinky fell apart in this one with only 112 for the Cascades, leaving them vulnerable. Nibbles shot back with 995 for the Meteors, putting them far ahead at the midway point. Roxy scooped up 703 for Freedom on her turn, getting them back into the fight after the slip-up on the previous turn. Vladimir shot back with 461 for Viewpoint Sound, doing well to maintain a lead late in the game. Nikolai melted at 33 for the Cascades, leaving them at 1287 in a deep loss. Dani had a modest 270 for the Meteors, icing their win at 2077. Viewpoint Sound defends their turf well, rising to 9-5, while pushing Freedom back to 13-9.
