Tournament X Qualifiers - Day 32

Today's the grand finale of Tournament X Qualifying, as 33 players partake in the final 70 games before the brackets will be set. As such, after today, there will be a break from game activity to work on some administrative and behind-the-scenes material. Let's get to it with...

North Modernistic Nighthawks star Gal shooting 15-ball with the red cue. Gal was pretty steady in her first of two games today, needing just one error in 25 shots. Infinity Torpedoes newcomer Fuchsia is the 148th player done with qualifying as she plays Accuracy with the purple cue. Fuchsia made a pair on the break and closed in 15 shots for the game. Overall, she had 160 shots and 15 errors. Freedom Cascades newcomer Andrew follows as the 149th player to complete qualifiers, using the green cue in Accuracy. Andrew needed 18 shots without an error in this game, for totals of 168 shots and 13 errors during his run. The fourth player drawn today is Modernistic Union sophomore Sydney C., who plays 13-ball with the silver cue. A few early struggles cleared up as Sydney C. finished in 24 shots with two errors. Pearl Surfers star Boots keeps the silver cue active for 15-ball. Boots had only one error in 25 shots, showing some quality with her shot selection.

Eastside Sharks captain Nightfur is the 150th player to exit qualifying, using the purple cue in Accuracy. A shaky start forced Nightfur to take 20 shots in the game, giving her 150 shots and 7 errors during her run. Next up, Oceanside Waves enforcer Josie plays 15-ball with the red cue. Josie took a couple of errors but still managed to finish with 25 shots. Boston Swifts veteran Gradley activates the blue cue for Rotation. Commerce Tradewinds superstar Taylor S. plays 15-ball with the red cue in today's 12th game. Taylor S. had a golden ticket when the 3 and 15 aligned along the left rail, allowing her to take one error and still finish in 7 shots after a well-placed combination. The Stills' Ruby is back for her second of five games today, using the blue cue again for 13-ball. Ruby showed improved precision to close in 17 shots with no errors this time, which showed why she was one of the league's first stars. Everton Eagles veteran Bear takes up the purple cue for Rotation. Bear had a bad break, which forced him into five errors and 31 shots in a tough turn at the table. Heading into the break, Oceanside Waves rookie Rocky plays 13-ball with the green cue. Rocky had a great start, but he slipped to six errors and 29 shots by the end of the game.

The main portion of the day gets going with Eastside Sharks sophomore Taylor M. playing Rotation with the purple cue. The bonus groups begin here as the Sharks' Taylor M. plays Accuracy with the purple cue, the 169th player to complete qualifiers. Ruby again stepped up well, taking just one error in 21 shots. The Oceanside Waves' Celestia finally makes an appearance in today's 54th game, using the blue cue in the final 12-ball qualifier. Celestia was worth the wait, taking only 16 shots and no errors. She'll finish this group too, as Celestia goes again with the red cue in 13-ball to end that event as well. The quick turnaround was too much for her, as she was sloppy and sank the 8 illegally to end with 29 shots and seven errors.

The twelfth group leads off with the Spiders' Cubby using the blue cue in Accuracy as the 171st player to finish qualifying. Cubby wasn't particularly elegant in his finish, taking 20 shots to put himself at 187 shots and 10 errors overall. Using the silver cue, the Stills' Ruby plays Accuracy as the 173rd player to complete qualifiers. Ruby couldn't produce a good ending to her run, taking 22 shots in the game for totals of 161 shots and 6 errors. The final group is underway with the Commerce Tradewinds' Niki being the 177th player to finish qualifying as she shoots Accuracy with the silver cue. Niki sank two on the break, but faded to 19 shots in the game, finishing her run at 166 shots and 15 errors. The Waves' Celestia is on for 15-ball with the green cue, which is the last qualifier for both that event and that stick. Celestia struggled early, taking two errors, but she banked the 7-15 combination to the bottom right to end with 18 shots. The Waves' Rocky is 178th to complete qualifiers, using the red cue for its last Accuracy game. Rocky had a good start, but dropped to 19 shots by the end. Overall, he had 178 shots and 13 errors. The 179th player to finish qualifying is the Wolves' Hershey, who uses the blue cue for Accuracy. Hershey ended up with 21 shots and no errors in his game, putting his qualifying totals at 184 shots and 15 errors. The Waves' Celestia ends qualifying altogether with the silver cue in hand for Accuracy as the 180th and final player to finish. Celestia didn't muster much of a finish, with 22 shots and one error. Her totals stood at 185 shots and 17 errors.

That's all for Qualifiers. Over the next week or so, I will assemble the bracket pages and doing qualifying analysis, the latter of which may see a breakdown on the website. I expect to start Tournament X, with the brand-new play-in round, some time next week.
