Tournament XI Qualifiers - Day 18

We'll cross the qualifying halfway point today. First up...

Pearl Surfers veteran Bright gets a look in 13-ball with the red cue. Bright held his own with one of each on the break and finished at 21 shots with one error. North Modernistic Nighthawks star Gal also plays 13-ball, but she uses the green cue. Stubbornly refusing to sink the 8 to get it out of the way at the top right, Gal instead took eight errors and 47 shots to finish the outing. Southern Monarchs captain Pounce keeps the green cue at the table for 13-ball. Pounce fared much better, hitting his early plays and getting to 22 shots with only one error. Zenith Skywatchers enforcer Nightfur goes 4th, also playing 13-ball but with the blue cue. Nightfur took a couple of errors in her game, but settled down at the end for 23 shots. The first half of qualifying ends with Lighton Prestige star Spirit shooting Rotation with the green cue. Spirit had some trouble initially with two errors, but she managed 26 shots to close out the game.

Stonebridge Wolves rookie Lindsay is up for 10-ball with the red cue to start the second half of qualifying. Lindsay had one error for illegal contract early on, but finished with a double-pot with a cut on the 6 to the top side and sublime spin on the cue to sink the 10 on the deflection at the top left. She had 9 shots. Maplewood Lumberjacks sophomore Marissa plays 12-ball with the silver cue. Marissa kept it clean with no errors in 21 shots for this appearance, a crisp turn for the young player. Diamond Gems sophomore Autumn also uses the silver cue for her 10-ball outing. Autumn surged early and took no errors in 14 shots for a good game. More 10-ball follows as Everton Eagles veteran Vincent shoots with the red cue. Vincent wasted no time in this outing, closing at 2 shots and no errors with a 2-10 combination to the bottom left. Eastside Sharks captain Taylor M. finishes the group with the red cue in 15-ball. Taylor M. bailed herself out with a double-pot of the 3 and 15 to the left corners shortly after her second error of the game. She finished on 11 shots.

Group three begins with Pacific Volcanoes veteran Leonette using the red cue in 10-ball. Leonette didn't get much from the break, but her one error led to a late surge to end in 14 shots. Web City Spiders newcomer Wild Thing activates the purple cue for 13-ball next. Wild Thing did alright, but he had to take one error early to clear space later. He ended in 25 shots. The 13th player drawn today is Infinity Torpedoes veteran Fluffina, who shoots 9-ball with the red cue. The 1 gave Fluffina trouble, but she had productive misses early on. A 1-9 combination to the bottom left with the 1 double-potting to the bottom side put her at 5 shots and no errors. Whitewater Shores rookie Rachel follows that with the silver cue in 13-ball. Rachel played with no fear in this appearance, and it led to 22 shots and no errors. The silver cue remains active in 10-ball as Everton Eagles captain Goldy seals the group. Goldy started hot, then cooled tremendously before closing at 19 shots with one error.

The fourth batch kicks off with Victoria Spurs veteran Strawberry using the blue cue in 10-ball. Strawberry had an early error for missed contact and finished her game in 16 shots after a failed deflection. Southern Monarchs sophomore Molly is up for 13-ball with the green cue. Molly had an awful time with three errors and 30 shots, flubbing on the final ball twice before it went down. More 13-ball follows as Pearl Surfers veteran Wings takes up the blue cue. Wings had a bad break but made the best of it, finishing in 22 shots with only one error. Central Warriors captain Twilight draws in for 12-ball with the red cue. Twilight was smart with her plays, ending in 21 shots and no errors. Pronger Tridents veteran Avril goes 20th today, using the silver cue in 13-ball. Early missed contact aside, Avril dominated this appearance, clearing the rack in only 21 shots after a safe finish.

The fifth group leads off with Maplewood Lumberjacks veteran Whiskers playing 10-ball with the purple cue. Whiskers was pretty good with two balls on the break, but got loose in the middle to end on 15 shots and one error. Queens Flames veteran Pauline keeps the purple cue in play for 13-ball. It took Pauline too long to solve her bad positioning at the bottom left, leading to 31 shots with only one error. Southern Monarchs newcomer Lorde follows with 10-ball and the silver cue. Lorde started great, then lost control on the 4. She slipped to 19 shots with no errors in the game. The 24th player called today is Zenith Skywatchers veteran Bells, who also uses the silver cue in 10-ball. Bells was bailed out by a 6-10 combination to the top left that let her finish in 12 shots with one error. Atlantic Pirates captain Delila ends the group with the green cue in 12-ball. Delila positioned herself well early on and surged to finish on 19 shots with no errors.

Fronting the sixth set, Todavía Stills veteran Pedey uses the silver cue in 13-ball. Pedey couldn't avoid trouble in the middle of his game, taking three errors due to one suit blocking the other repeatedly. He ended the game with 29 shots. More 13-ball is on the way with Swordpoint Blades newcomer Stephanie playing with the green cue. Stephanie had three errors, the latter two for missed contact, as she finished with 24 shots in a challenging game. Tysini Hummingbirds rising star Sarah is 28th to shoot today, using the purple cue in 13-ball. Sarah was steady throughout but never remarkable in 24 shots with one error. Continuing along, Midland Predators veteran Americus uses the blue cue for 12-ball. Americus took a couple of errors but ended up with 19 shots in a solid performance. Archtown Arrows newcomer Cubby closes the group with the silver cue in hand for 13-ball. Difficulties in the event continued as Cubby took two errors and couldn't get clean looks late, pushing him up to 27 shots.

The 31st game today is 15-ball with the silver cue for Queens Flames veteran Briana. A rough start saw her take three errors, but Briana made the 11-15 combination to the top right to close on 22 shots. The silver cue stays up as Everton Eagles newcomer Panda shoots 13-ball. Panda dealt with things well, taking just one error in 21 shots. Boston Swifts veteran Ice Cream also plays 13-ball, using the green cue. Ice Cream suffered three errors throughout her game, but still closed at 22 shots as she finished when she needed to. Everton Eagles star Cleo goes next with the red cue in 12-ball. Nobody told Cleo it was supposed to be tough, as she cruised through the rack in 13 shots and no errors after an empty break. Rounding out the batch, Queens Flames captain Crystal shoots Rotation with the blue cue. Crystal put up only two errors in 23 shots, navigating the rack at a good pace.

Group eight opens with Lighton Prestige star Citrus shooting 12-ball with the blue cue. Citrus had no errors in her appearance, moving smoothly around the table to post 21 shots. Today's 37th player is Harrison Specters sophomore Esmeralda, who shoots 10-ball with the green cue. Esmeralda was fine early on, but lost control on the 5. She took one error in 22 shots to finish the outing. More 10-ball is on the way as Pronger Tridents veteran Potter uses the purple cue. Potter cruised through the rack without trouble, taking no errors in his 14 shots. Viewpoint Sound Meteors veteran Cobalt is up next with the green cue in 12-ball. Cobalt took one error for an illegally potted ball, then finished in 19 shots for a good outing. Wrapping up the set, Southridge Defenders strongman Wario also uses the green cue in 12-ball. Wario was fast on offense, taking one error and just 16 shots to clear the table.

The ninth group starts as Capital City Sharpshooters veteran Sprinkles does 12-ball with the purple cue. Sprinkles had pretty good positioning, but cautious play drove her score up to 22 shots with no errors. Midland Predators rising star Kitty uses the silver cue for 13-ball. Kitty deserved better after a good start, but struggles in the middle led to one error and 24 shots. Pearl Surfers co-captain Watermelon is ready to go in 12-ball with the green cue. Watermelon had some trouble with positioning as there were many clusters around the table. She took just one error in her 24 shots. The 44th player drawn today is Todavía Stills star Ruby, who shoots Rotation with the purple cue. Ruby took two errors on a failed jump shot, but she redeemed herself with a good one later and cruised to finish at 23 shots. Oceanside Waves sophomore Rocky finishes the group as he plays 10-ball with the green cue. Rocky was too fancy early on and took one error before settling in to post 18 shots.

The final group commences as Web City Spiders captain Jack uses the purple cue for 12-ball. Jack had lots of clever plays early on, but late positioning forced him up to 20 shots with no errors. Everton Eagles mainstay Puff III uses the red cue as she plays 10-ball. Puff III started too slow, screwing up early and taking two errors before a late surge pinned her at 19 shots. Terrace City Knights star Oreo goes 48th today with the silver cue in 13-ball. Regression finally caught Oreo as she illegally sank the 8 in this one, taking seven errors and 33 shots to escape. Maplewood Lumberjacks captain Diddley is next, using the purple cue for 10-ball. Diddley didn't have a good attitude in his turn, taking four errors and 20 shots to get through it. Pronger Tridents star Spot ends the day in 12-ball with the purple cue. Spot suffered two errors in his game, frustrating him with bad positioning that forced him up to 25 shots.

With quality dropping late, it was a tough end to a relatively good day. We'll continue tomorrow.
