2017 Qualfiiers - Day 25

It all ends here today, as whatever games are left will be completed by the end of the night. I think the number is 42, but there might be some variance in there. We begin with...

Commerce Tradewinds captain Tigerette leading off group one with a game of 15-ball with the blue cue. Tigerette got by on 15 shots for the game, going empty on the break and taking one error before a fortunate bounce allowed her to work a 6-15 kick combination to the bottom right to end early. Next up, Pounce of the Southern Monarchs uses the silver cue in 12-ball. Pounce expertly played his game despite tough circumstances, needing one error and one ball on the break to play to 22 shots. He used a smart set-up play at the end to keep the score down well. The third player of the day is Royal Crowns rookie Hannah, who plays the first of five games for her today in 10-ball with the silver cue. Hannah made a ball on the break, and she had little trouble with the rest of the rack, taking only one error as well as 13 shots for the game. Continuing along, Spirit of the Lighton Prestige plays 15-ball with the red cue. Spirit had it rough in this game, getting nothing on the break and needing 31 shots with six errors after being forced to clear the table after illegally potting the 15. Ending the group, Tigerette ends her qualifying using the blue cue in Accuracy, the 128th player to finish. Tigerette seemed to be having a good game, but faded late, allowing her empty break and an error on her final shot push her score to 22 shots. Overall, she had 158 shots in a mediocre run of games.

The second group gets going with Rotation with the silver cue for Golden Pilots veteran A. Charlton. After making nothing on her break, Charlton had to get creative to stay afloat, leading to her taking three early errors. She calmed down from there, ending in 22 shots to produce a good game in the end. Moving along, Charlton returns to play 15-ball with the blue cue. Charlton didn't get anything on this break either, and she had another three errors in the game, ending on 30 shots this time as the alignment was less favorable. Ice Cream of the Commerce Tradewinds plays next, using the red cue for 15-ball. Ice Cream got a ball on the break, and while she did take an unlucky error, she ended on 18 shots with an 11-15 combination to the bottom right for a good game. Going ninth today is Spirit of the Prestige, who will finish qualifying 129th, as she plays Accuracy with the red cue. Spirit was disappointed despite making a ball on the break, which validates the research in this event. She would need 21 shots with no errors in the game, and she ended with 156 total shots in qualifiers. Finishing this batch, the Tradewinds' Ice Cream plays Accuracy with the red cue to be the 130th player finished with qualifying. Ice Cream took three balls on the break, and while she challenged for a league-leading score, she ended up with 15 shots and no errors. She had 155 total shots during qualifiers.

Batch three starts with Gizmo of the Central Warriors playing 15-ball with the blue cue. Gizmo made a ball on the break, and he took control of the game from there, taking no errors and needing only 20 shots to clear the table in a remarkable show of skills. Following that, Bright of the North Modernistic Nighthawks keeps the blue cue at the table for more 15-ball. Bright took two balls on the break but also had an error, the first of two, as he played a very confident game to end with 25 shots. The thirteenth player drawn to shoot today is Modernistic Union captain Ms. Puppy, who shoots 15-ball with the blue cue. Ms. Puppy produced a score of 27 shots in this game, narrowly missing a ball on the break and adding two errors during the course of an otherwise average game. Up next, Americus of the Atlantic Pirates plays 15-ball with the blue cue. Ameriucs had a controversial ending to her game, as she made a 3-15 combination to the top right after her lone error. The empty-break game ended in 8 shots because of this unethical but unavoidable play for the finishing shot. Rounding out the group, Marsell of the Whitewater Shores completes a uniform group by playing 15-ball with the blue cue. Marsell made a ball on the break, and while he had a rough start to the game that produced his lone error, he ended on a glancing hit off the 7 to take the 15 at the top right for a score of 15.

The fourth group opens with Pounce, the Monarchs newcomer, playing Rotation with the silver cue. Pounce did as well as he could with a tough game, making nothing on the break and adding four errors without intent during the game, eventually ending with 33 shots to cap the appearance. The seventeenth player called to shoot today is Cobalt, the Stonebridge Wolves rookie, who will use the blue cue in 12-ball. Cobalt was able to take a ball on the break, and he avoided any errors in a solid performance that saw him score 19 shots for the game. Shaggy of the Whitewater Shores plays next, using the silver cue for 12-ball. Shaggy ended with a ball on the break and no errors in a great game that saw her take only 16 shots for the appearance, showing poise and dominant control in the game. Continuing along, Frosty of the Wolves plays Accuracy with the red cue, the 131st player to finish qualifying. Frosty didn't get a ball on the break, but she shot very well throughout the game, ending with 17 shots and no errors as she cruised through a friendly rack. She had 143 total shots in qualifiers, playing to a strong level. Wrapping up the group, the Nighthawks' Bright plays Accuracy with the red cue as the 132nd player to complete qualifiers. Bright had a bad break, which potted nothing, but he didn't take an error and was able to close out the game at 18 shots. Overall, Bright took 167 shots in qualifiers, coming in worse than average.

Group five begins with Dustin of the Central Warriors shooting 15-ball with the blue cue. Dustin didn't get anything besides his lone error on the break, an unfortunate scratch that had little bearing on him shooting 28 shots to complete the appearance. Moving along, the Pirates' Americus becomes the 133rd player to complete qualifying by using the blue cue in Accuracy. Americus had a good break, but she couldn't make anything on it, and she faltered early before regaining control of her game and closing with 20 shots and no errors. Overall, Americus used 146 shots total in qualifying. Next up, Max of the Queens Flames plays 15-ball with the red cue. Max didn't make a ball on the break, and he added two errors unintentionally as he tried to play a fairly clean game, but he still ended on 24 shots, showing solid shooting skill and mental awareness. After that, Cobalt of the Stonebridge Wolves plays Rotation with the silver cue. Cobalt took a ball on the break, somewhat surprisingly as he didn't see it fall, and he needed two errors early to keep the game going smoothly, as he would end with 22 shots in a great performance. The last player of the group also brings us to the mid-afternoon break, as the Shores' Marsell finished his qualifying 134th, playing Accuracy with the red cue. Marsell made two balls on the break and had no errors in his game, playing very well to take the game in 17 shots. Overall, he matched his shots to his finishing position, scoring 134 shots as a great way to start with his new team.

The sixth group kicks off after the break with the Pilots' Charlton, who is the 135th player done as she plays Accuracy with the blue cue. Charlton didn't get anything on the break, but she still cleared the table in 15 shots, taking no errors in this appearance. Overall, she ended with only 144 total shots in qualifiers, a good performance. Next up, Crowns rookie Hannah shoots 12-ball with the red cue, ending the event. Hannah had a bit of a chaotic game, with two balls made on the break and two errors in the game, ending with 17 shots when it was all said and done. Following that, Cobalt of the Wolves plays 15-ball with the blue cue. Cobalt had a frustrating appearance, getting nothing on the break and becoming quite error-prone right as he was getting close to the 15, taking four altogether as he needed 30 shots to finish the game. The 29th player of the day is Cobalt, as he finished with the blue cue in Accuracy, the 136th player done with qualifying. Cobalt had a good break but it was still empty, and he needed 20 shots with a late error to get through the game. He ended with 138 total shots in qualifying, a strong performance for a rookie without much pre-qualifying hype. Icing the group, Hannah is back to shoot Rotation with the red cue. Hannah did manage to get a ball on the break, but the rest of the game featured her ignoring the rules, as she collected five errors over 30 shots to complete the appearance.

The seventh batch sees the Warriors' Dustin play Accuracy with the silver cue, the 137th player to be done with qualifying. Dustin was left frustrated by this game, taking nothing from the break and one error after an impulsively hard-struck shot. He finished the game with 24 shots, and closed qualifiers with 163 total shots, both poor marks. Continuing along, Sparkles of the TodavĂa Stills plays 15-ball with the red cue. Sparkles thought she was doing well early on, but when it took her 30 shots to complete the game, with only one error, her poor shooting left her frustrated. With tensions rising late, the Flames' Max plays Accuracy with the blue cue, the 138th player to finish qualifying. Max had a highlight triple-pot, making the 1 to the bottom right, the 14 to the top right, and the 6 to the top side. He had an empty break and took no errors among his 15 shots, with the game being saved by that highlight. He had 158 total shots in qualifiers, a solid total for the average veteran. The 34th player of the day is Pounce of the Southern Monarchs, shooting 15-ball with the red cue. Pounce needed 22 shots in the game, getting a ball on the break but also taking three errors during the appearance as his shot was shaky at best. It took an 8-15 combination to bring the game to its early end. The last normal group ends with Sparkles of the Stills using the blue cue for Accuracy, the 139th player to complete qualifiers. Sparkles got nothing on the break and no errors in this game, ending with 18 shots. Overall, she took 152 shots for qualifiers, a bit better than the league average.

Finally, the mega-group, featuring eight games, begins with Shaggy of the Whitewater Shores shutting the door on Rotation with the red cue. Shaggy couldn't make a ball on the break, ending with 26 shots and two errors from one errant strike toward the 13. The 37th player drawn today is Pounce, as the Monarchs newcomer is the 140th player done with qualifiers, using the silver cue in Accuracy. Pounce didn't get a ball on the break, but an early double-pot of the 5 and 8 to the sides helped him get to 15 shots with no errors in the game, a great outing for the veteran. He ended in total with 158 shots for all of his qualifiers. Up next, Ms. Puppy of the Modernistic Union is the 141st player done with qualifying, bringing the blue cue to the finish line in Accuracy. Ms. Puppy needed a painful 24 shots with nothing on the break and no errors in this game, bringing her total score up to 163 shots by the end of it. After that, Shaggy plays 15-ball with the silver cue. Shaggy had only a scratch on her break, her first of five errors in 30 shots in a frustrating game that caught her a bit off-guard. Continuing along, the Warriors' Gizmo ends with the red cue in Accuracy as the 142nd player to finish. Gizmo made a ball on the break, but he also took an error in the game, eventually ending on 19 shots for the game. Overall, Gizmo had 155 total shots for his appearances. Moving along to Shaggy playing Accuracy with the red cue, the 143rd player to complete qualifiers. Shaggy needed only 16 shots for the game despite going empty on her break, and she had no errors. Overall, Shaggy took 153 shots during qualifiers. Hannah is up for the last two games, playing 15-ball with the silver cue first. Hannah had an empty break here, and would take two errors before finishing the game on 30 shots. Finally, after 1,153 games (with one unrecorded in the official book, thus producing the 1,152 qualifiers), Hannah shoots Accuracy with the red cue, the 144th and final player to finish qualifying. Hannah took 18 shots, making two balls on the break as well as her only error of the game.

That's all for Qualifiers. I anticipate being able to get the research materials covered by tomorrow, with a full report coming from that.
