Today, we will try to get in 50 games, but I make no promises. A lot depends on how the evening goes. We begin with...
Hoot of the Viewpoint Sound Meteors, who gets things going with the silver cue in 15-ball. Hoot got a ball on the break, and while he did take two errors, he used a 9-15 combination deflected off the 11 to end his game with 17 shots, a very strong mark for the veteran. Next up, Southridge Defenders rookie Hughbert shoots Rotation with the silver cue. Hughbert had a bit of a tough time in this appearance, needing 31 shots with eight errors despite making a ball on the break in the game, showing a bit of rookie jitters. The third player of the day is Spirit of the Lighton Prestige, as the star plays 10-ball with the blue cue. Spirit started well in this game, going on an early run despite an empty break, but she faded at the end, taking one error and closing with 18 shots. Moving along, Diamond Gems star Citrus plays 15-ball with the blue cue. Citrus had some issues late in the game, negating a good stretch of shots at the start. She took an empty break and added four errors among her 28 shots for the appearance. Finishing the morning group, Daisy of the Modernistic Union plays 12-ball with the blue cue. Daisy nabbed a ball on the break in this game, and while she did take one error for a scratch, she rebounded well from that to end with 18 shots for the game.
The afternoon begins with group two's first player, Jennifer Livilotti of the Terrace City Knights, who plays Rotation with the red cue. Jennifer had nothing on the break in her game, taking two errors in the middle of it all, and still finishing on a solid 26 shots. Continuing along, Wario of the Victoria Spurs plays 15-ball with the silver cue. Wario ignored the rules a bit in this game, taking the easiest shot after an empty break and accumulating five errors to go with 22 shots. He did end early, glancing the cue off the 8 to take the 15 in the bottom side. Up next, Lighton Prestige captain Acorn plays 15-ball with the red cue. Acorn had 28 shots in the game, going empty on his break and needing three errors to manage his way through a difficult rack. The ninth player called today is Wario, as the Spurs rookie returns to play Accuracy with the red cue as the 63rd player to complete qualifying. Wario had a rare appearance, as he made a ball on the break but still let his score slip to 21 shots, which is a rarity across the league. He had no errors in the game, and ended his qualifying at 161 shots. Rounding out the group, Missy of the Capital City Sharpshooters plays Rotation with the silver cue. Missy had a ball on the break, but she had three errors in the game, and struggled to finish some of her shots with delicate touches, ending at 31 shots for the game.
Batch three starts with the 64th player to finish qualifying, who is Snuggle of the Oceanside Waves playing Accuracy with the blue cue. Snuggle didn't make a ball on the break, and a late error threw him off his game a bit, pushing his score to 21 shots. Overall, he scored 154 shots for all of his appearances. The twelfth player called to shoot today is Citrus, the Gems veteran, who will use the silver cue in Accuracy to become the 65th player finished with qualifiers. Citrus knocked a ball in on the break, and then went error-free for the rest of the game, closing in 15 shots for a very good game. Citrus required only 145 total shots during qualifying. Following that, Defenders rookie Hughbert returns to the table for 15-ball with the silver cue. Hughbert looked much more comfortable in this game, making a ball on the break, and while he did have five errors, mostly with intent, he finished on 22 shots by deflecting the cue off the 14 to drive the 15 to the bottom right. Continuing along, Whitewater Shores newcomer Shaggy plays her third game with the team, 9-ball with the red cue. Shaggy made two balls on the break but had one error in her game, ending with a reasonable 14 shots for the outing. The group ends with Roxy of the Freedom Cascades playing Rotation with the silver cue. Roxy made two balls on the break in a very strong appearance, but her four errors weighed her down, forcing her to take 26 shots to complete the game.
The fourth group is led off by Terrace City Knights captain Kiwi, who will play 12-ball with the silver cue. Kiwi kept her game pretty clean, taking no errors after an empty break, and she finished with a pair of light kick shots precisely placed to give her a score of 20 shots, impressing the audience. After that, Lorde, the Commerce Tradewinds sophomore, shoots 15-ball with the red cue. Lorde had a bit of a poor break, but she recovered well from there, taking three errors to grease her way to 22 shots for the game, a very strong performance. Moving along, Precious, the Pronger Tridents captain, shoots 10-ball with the red cue. Precious had one of the least eventful games of the season, shooting 19 shots without a ball on the break or any errors, clocking in a bit worse than average for the game. Next up, the 66th player to finish qualifying is Rainmane of the Midland Predators, who plays Accuracy with the silver cue. Rainmane struggled a bit with command in this game, needing 20 shots after an empty break, but she didn't take any errors. Overall, her first season with the Predators is off to a rough start, as she had 179 total shots. Closing out the group, Hughbert becomes the 67th player done with qualifying as the Defenders rookie uses the silver cue in Accuracy. Hughbert looked pretty good, making a ball on the break and taking no errors. A late stumble pushed his score to 19 shots in this game, but he had only 143 shots across qualifiers.
Group five gets going with a game of Rotation for Daisy, as the Union rookie keeps the silver cue at the table. Daisy took a ball on her very firm break, and she only added two errors for the rest of the game, finishing with a good score of 24. The 22nd player to shoot today is Archtown Arrows veteran Sleepy B., who will use the red cue in 15-ball. Sleepy B. got a bit lucky on her turn, although an empty break and two errors were not pretty. Still, she had the game complete in 7 shots as the 2 caromed around the table and potted the 15 to the bottom right. Following that, Westside Rockers veteran Goatee plays 15-ball with the blue cue. Goatee had nothing on the break, and while she was lucky at first, she eventually had four errors and 29 shots for the game, a weak performance for the experienced player. Continuing along, Spot, the Pronger Tridents rookie, plays 15-ball with the blue cue as well. Spot had to produce an early ending after making a ball on the break, and he kept the game error free, using the 1 to hunt the 15 until he made it in the top right on shot 13. Icing the batch, Infinity Torpedoes veteran Whiskers plays 12-ball with the silver cue. Whiskers made three balls on the break in this game, and took one error in the appearance, ending with a solid 20 shots.
The sixth batch opens with Shawn of the Midland Predators using the silver cue in 15-ball. Shawn had a loud shatter on his break, but nothing fell, and he would add three errors during the course of play before finishing it off with 24 shots, a solid mark. Acorn, the Prestige captain, returns to play Accuracy in this game, becoming the 68th player to finish qualifying. Acorn made a ball on the break, and after some early sputtering, he finished the game in 17 shots, taking no errors. For all of his qualifiers, Acorn had 149 shots, a fairly good score. Up next, Ms. Puppy, the Modernistic Union captain, shoots 9-ball with the blue cue, the last player in the event. Ms. Puppy took 15 shots with one ball on the break and one error, producing a decent game but failing to keep 2017 better than 2016 in 9-ball. Following that, the last player before the break is Taylor Swift of the Eastside Sharks, shooting 12-ball with the silver cue. Taylor had two balls made on the break, but she also took a late error, which spared her a long chase, ending her game at 22 shots. After the break, the group ends with Sydney Sierota of the Harrison Specters shooting 10-ball with the silver cue. Sydney didn't get anything on her break, and she would take two errors among her 18 shots for the game, a decent effort.
Group seven kicks off the night with Nikolai playing 15-ball with the red cue for the Freedom Cascades. Nikolai got destroyed by his positioning in this game, going empty on the break and then needing six errors and 31 shots to complete the appearance. Next up, Kirstin of the Everton Eagles is set to play 15-ball with the silver cue. Kirstin did alright early on, but she had two errors after an empty break, and she would eventually finish on 28 shots, which is not much to brag about. Continuing along, Jasmine of the Freedom Cascades has the silver cue in hand for 15-ball. Jasmine couldn't make any magic in this appearance, ending up taking a ball on the break but also earning five errors in the game as she managed to keep her score down at 29 shots. The 34th player of the day is Maplewood Lumberjacks rookie Waluigi, who plays Accuracy with the red cue as the 69th player to finish qualifying. Waluigi had a ball on the break, but he followed that with dreadful shooting, leading to his lone error and eventually 23 total shots for the game. Waluigi ended qualifying with 152 shots overall. The group closes with another Lumberjack, Diddley, playing Accuracy with the red cue as the 70th player to finish qualifying. Diddley didn't make a ball on the break, but he also didn't take any errors, needing only 19 shots for the game. Diddley closed his qualifying at 157 shots, a fairly average total.
The night's final group begins with Commerce Tradewinds captain Tigerette playing 10-ball with the blue cue. Tigerette was doomed from the start, unable to get sight on her first shot. She would ultimately take five errors in 23 shots for the game, a very unusual score for the event, and she had an empty break. Moving along, the Meteors' Hoot is the 71st player to shoot Accuracy, using the red cue to complete his qualifiers. Hoot didn't have any trouble in the game, making a ball on the break and avoiding any errors as he cruised to a score of 16. Hoot finished with 150 shots overall, also a solid performance from the veteran for his new team. Following that, Peach of the North Modernistic Nighthawks plays Accuracy with the silver cue, the 72nd player done with qualifying. Peach had nothing on the break, and she would end up with one error for a scratch, giving her 22 shots for the whole game. This was not indicative of her overall effort, which resulted in 135 total shots. The 39th player of the day is Blizzard of the Everton Eagles, who will use the red cue in Accuracy to be the 73rd player done with qualifying. Blizzard made two balls on the break, as well as her only error in a scratch, and then closed the game out in 16 shots, a good performance. Blizzard struggled in some qualifiers, as her total score was 174, missing average by a long shot. The day ends with Princess of the Tysini Hummingbirds playing 12-ball with the blue cue. Princess had nothing on the break, taking one error during the game, and ending with a solid 21 shots in the game.
We'll be back tomorrow to start a Weekend Special, presumably the last of qualifiers.
