UPCL Cricket - Week 6 Part 3

We're back for another segment of cricket, the last for this particular league-week. We begin with...'

McDonald's Pitch at Pirates Park, Atlantic: The Pirates managed to beat the Stills early in the year, and they're going for the sweep in this game. Easter showed some fatigue in this game, scoring only 84 points for Todavía. Delila carved out 703 for Atlantic in response, giving them a large lead initially. Sierra chipped back with 276 for the Stills, but they remain far behind in this game. Isabella took it slow at the start, and then found a groove and rode it all the way to 977 for the Pirates, as the rookie's contributions extend their lead halfway through the game. Sparkles couldn't keep up at all for Todavía, scoring a pathetic 74. Americus lined another 570 for Atlantic, boosting their lead once again in a thoroughly lopsided match. Bells faltered with 64 for the Stills, giving them only 498 overall, lower than each opponent's individual scores so far. Klaus didn't maintain that trend, but his 90 brought the Pirates win quicker at 2340 overall. Atlantic is now 10-2, moving to second in the league, while Todavía drops to 8-10 after suffering the sweep.

AT&T Oceanside Stadium, Oceanside: The Waves end a three-game home stand by hosting a pair of Northeast teams back-to-back, with the road-weary Lumberjacks going first. Fluffina flubbed her turn badly, knocking a ball backward into her stumps to end with just 16 points for Maplewood. Snuggle paddled 833 for Oceanside, giving them a firm initial lead. Diddley did alright for the Lumberjacks, picking up 304 to get them some points back. Caitlin answered with 524 for the Waves, adding nicely to their lead at the halfway mark. Bryant managed 289 for Maplewood in this game, but they are still far behind. Celestia put up 471 for Oceanside, a good effort to keep their lead strong as the game gets to its later stages. Waluigi dug out 408 for the Lumberjacks in this game, but this was not enough to overcome the deficit, ending their offense at 1017 in the loss. Dewey tapped another 400 to ice the Waves win at 2228. Oceanside is beginning to round into form, at least at home, as they improve to 6-7, while Maplewood's road efforts leave plenty to be desired with them at 11-8 overall now.

AT&T Oceanside Stadium, Oceanside: On the back-half of the doubleheader, the Arrows come into town, looking to restart their journey up the standings against the Waves in the last game of a six-game road trip. Sally very deftly dealt with a cluttered pitch on her turn, ending at 477 when the last of the clutter deflected a ball out, but Archtown is off to a good start. Snuggle shot back with 527 for Oceanside, giving them a marginal lead at this point. The hosts continue to bowl very aggressively, and it worked in knocking down the Arrows' Sleepy B. at 227 points this time. Caitlin faced virtually no resistance in her turn, slugging 1773 to all but secure the Waves lead at the halfway mark. Ruby, by some miracle, actually gained ground for Archtown, crushing 2006 in an absolutely dominant performance that has blown this game wide open. Celestia got knocked down with 92 for Oceanside, putting them behind at this stage. Dusky tacked on 548 for the Arrows, producing a final of 3258. Dewey suffered an unfortunate deflection to end his turn with 368, leaving the Waves baffled at a loss with 2760. Archtown stands at 6-10, while Oceanside is 6-8, and these teams will meet again to complete their home-and-home later in this segment.

Ebay Center, Queens: The Pirates make a one-off trip to the Southeast to face the Flames, who will finish a five-game home stand. Delila hammered out 873 for Atlantic, showing some muscle to stake out a nice lead for the visitors. Crystal answered with 710 for Queens, keeping them within striking distance in the early going. Isabella weakened the Pirates lead on her turn, fading at 249 for the visitors as they try to keep up in a high-octane game. Paige couldn't capitalize on the moment of weakness, taking only 216 for the Flames as they slip a bit farther behind. Americus poked her way to 519 for Atlantic, once again working to extend the lead fairly well. Violetta responded with 546 for Queens, covering some of the deficit but leaving work for the final players to deal with. Klaus fell at 164 for the Pirates, leaving them vulnerable at a final of 1805. Max did enough to take the game for the Flames, posting 367 as they stole the win with 1839. Queens improves to 7-8, while Atlantic drops to 10-3 with the rare loss.

Verizon Field, Pacific: The Volcanoes are back at home for a game, while the Rockers play their fourth of a five-game trip in this battle of titans. Misty opened the game with a bit of composure for Westside, but she struggled with placement, with her longevity stretching her score to 581. Starlight didn't do as well for Pacific, ending at 253 as her impatience proved critical. Goatee got blitzed early in the turn for the Rockers, producing just 20 points as she proved unable to overcome the attack. Ms. Kitty made up some of the deficit with her 235 for the Volcanoes, getting them closer at the halfway mark. Midnight nearly pulled off an epic trick, as she spun a ball on her backhand, but the next offering caught her out of position and ended her turn at 898 for Westside. Leonette popped 682 in response for Pacific, but things are not looking good for them. Slinks added on with 359 for the Rockers, bringing them to 1858 total in what they hope will stand as a win. Chicky Phil couldn't perform against his old team, slumping with 48 to take the loss at 1218 overall for the Volcanoes. Westside continues to dominate on the road as they go to 10-2, while Pacific slips to 7-6.

Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: The Sharpshooters are looking to sweep the Pilots as the finish their home-and-home series in this game. Valencia struggled a bit in this game, taking only 111 for Golden as they'll start a bit slowly. Chris sliced 697 for Capital City in his turn, creating a substantial lead for the hosts. Dusty tried to readjust her bat position at the wrong, time, bumping a ball out of bounds and ending with a solid 500 for the Pilots. Missy answered with 539 for the Sharpshooters, keeping their lead steady at the halfway mark of the game. Strut got caught with a ball behind his bat, and while he tried to control his swing, he knocked it backwards anyway and ended on 129 for Golden, hurting their comeback attempt. Sprinkles hammered another 642 for Capital City, as their offense has been dominant in taking a large lead near the end of this game. A. Charlton put up a big run for the Pilots, smashing 743 in her turn, but they still lose with 1483 despite her rally. Nicole shot back with 349 for the Sharpshooters, giving them a winning total of 2227. Capital City swept the season series this week, going to 9-5, while Golden drops to 4-5 with the loss.

Nestle's Warriors Park, Central: This battle is the first Sisterhood derby in the season, a part of the larger Generations Derby. Starlight was unprepared for a low-rolling offering from her sister, which ended her turn early at 39 for Pacific. Twilight didn't do much better, taking only 105 for Central to best her sister's efforts. Ms. Kitty poked 503 for the Volcanoes to get them on a more respectable level. Dustin regained the lead with a swift 631 for the Warriors, asserting his authority fairly well. Leonette suffered a tough deflection at just 57 points for Pacific, further deadening their already weak offense. Mario paddled 592 for Central, as the rookie made quite the impact to extend the lead before the final player step up to bat. Chicky Phil managed a measly 6 points for the Volcanoes, sealing their loss at 605. Gizmo tapped 222 for the Warriors, icing their win at 1550 in the rivalry battle. Central is still one of the league's most dominant teams, standing at 7-2 after the third game in their eight-game home stand. Pacific drops to 7-7 after the loss.

Amazon Field, Golden: The Blades are set to embark on a short two-game trip against a straggling Pilots side making a quick stopover at home. Snowball has started to regress a bit, and that trend continued with 217 for Swordpoint in this appearance. Valencia countered well with 551 for Golden, giving them a noticeable lead in the early going. Dreamy churned out 631 for the Blades in this game, using a strong offensive effort to take a minor lead. Dusty absolutely put the game in complete control of the Pilots, crushing 2152 on her turn to create a massive lead halfway through the game. Bandit got 391 back for Swordpoint, but it looks like they'll take their lumps in this game. Strut chipped 240 for Golden on his turn, content to ride Dusty's effort to victory on its own merits. Stealth knocked 484 for the Blades, but they still didn't even get close, suffering defeat with a score of 1723 for the game. A. Charlton iced the Pilots win with 234 on her turn, bringing their total to 3177 in their first home win of the year. Golden improved to 5-5 on the season, while Swordpoint dipped to 10-4 in the loss.

Mams continued to provide consistent offense for Viewpoint Sound, striking 566 to stake out a nice lead this time around. Panda stumbled with 105 for Southern in this game, giving them a deficit to overcome. Hoot ripped 436 for the Meteors to extend their lead pretty well on his turn. Hoppy got most of that back for the Monarchs, hitting 418 before a fast-flying ball tipped the end of her bat and went out of bounds. Nibbles had a bit of a tough time, dealing with a cluttered pitch that knocked him down at 250 for Viewpoint Sound. Pounce cut deeper into the deficit with 471 for Southern, taking advantage of a mandatory replay situation. Dominic tried to fight off a difficult stretch of offerings, but ended up falling at 183, giving the Meteors a less-than-safe score of 1435. Shannon rallied with 624 at the end, taking the win for the Monarchs with 1618 overall. Southern jumps to 4-5 with a 2-0 division record, while Viewpoint Sound is 4-8 overall and 2-2 in the division.

Mercedes-Benz Field, Harrison: The Specters return home after five games on the road, while the Nighthawks are in the eighth of a ten-game road trip. Peach bashed her way to 891 for North Modernistic, a wonderful start for the road-weary team against a weak opponent. Sydney kept Harrison in the fight with 694 for this game, making it a high-scoring start to the event. Luigi couldn't maintain the pace for the Nighthawks, taking a meager 81 points on his turn. Twinkie II pummeled 829 for the Specters, giving them a large lead at the halfway mark with an offensive burst. Cheddar couldn't get North Modernistic back on track, falling at 168 as they appear set to take the loss. Lexi didn't secure the Harrison lead at all, with a pathetic 4 points leaving a lot more to be determined by the final players. Bright couldn't cover the deficit with 288 for the Nighthawks, so they took the loss with 1428. Sugar capped the win with 391 individually for the Specters, producing a total of 1918. Harrison is now 2-7 with the surprise win, while the road trip can't end soon enough for the 4-4 North Modernistic side.

Starbucks Cup, Archtown: These two teams tangled earlier in this post's scope, and now the return match in the Northeast gets underway. The Arrows begin a five-game home stand, while the Waves are on the road for the next four. Snuggle smashed 914 for Oceanside at the start of the game, giving them a large lead on their quest for revenge. Sally replied with 537 for Archtown on her turn, keeping the scoring high. Caitlin broke out of her deep road slump in this one, posting 348 for the Waves to strengthen their lead a bit more. Sleepy B. made up some ground for the Arrows with 444 in this appearance, but the deficit remains noticeable at the halfway mark. Celestia faltered with 66 for Oceanside, leaving them exposed. Ruby made another dent in the deficit with 328 for Archtown, setting up a close finish between the teams. Dewey produced 368 for the Waves on his turn, putting them at 1696 overall. Dusky's backhand failed her too early in this game, as her 137 left the Arrows short with 1446 in another home loss. Oceanside salvaged the split to go to 7-8, while Archtown is 6-11 after the loss.

Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The week ends with a game between Urban Division Rivals. Bear had a bit of a messy turn for Whitewater, ending with 81 points in a rough appearance. Kiwi didn't get much either, taking just 67 for Terrace City as the game starts low-scoring and close. Twinkie III didn't make any progress for the Shores with a measly 51 points, as the game is turning into a scoring embarrassment. Jennifer gave the Knights the lead with 169, but this is far from anything resembling good cricket at the halfway mark. Marsell surprised the world with 528 for Whitewater, staking out a lead of some significance in the process. Oreo stumbled with 25 for Terrace City, putting them far behind with a player each to go. Shaggy added another 512 for the Shores, bringing their final to 1172 in what's likely to be a win in the game. Stripes had just 28 for the Knights, who lost with 289 total in an absolute humiliation. Whitewater is now at 4-4, while Terrace City is 6-5, treading water as a losing streak seems imminent.

That's it for week 6, with a standings update following soon.
