We're back for another day, and I can only hope my stamina holds up. I want to play 50 today, but no promises as we start off with...
Spot, the Pronger Tridents rookie, who keys group one with a game of Rotation with the red cue. Spot had nothing on his break, but he did well in the game, ending in 28 shots despite taking four errors, as he played honestly in this game. Following that, Bear, the Whitewater Shores captain who played the last two games last night, finishes his qualifiers with the silver cue shooting Accuracy, the 48th player to do so. Bear did decently in this game, taking 20 shots after an empty break, and he had no errors. Bear's more impressive mark was a total score of 122 for all qualifiers, placing him currently in third place. Moving along, Bells of the TodavĂa Stills plays 15-ball with the silver cue. Bells couldn't get a ball on the break, but after one error, she was able to push the 1 around sufficiently to line up the 1-15 combination to the top right, ending in 6 shots. The fourth player of the day is Chicky Phil of the Pacific Volcanoes, who will complete his qualifiers the 49th fastest as he plays Accuracy with the silver cue. Chicky Phil played very well in this outing, taking the rack in 17 shots after making a ball on the break, and he didn't take any errors. Overall, Chicky Phil performed to average at 154 shots. Wrapping up the only group of the morning, Golden Pilots captain Valencia shoots Accuracy with the silver cue, the 50th player to complete qualifying. Valencia finished the game in 19 shots, taking no errors and nothing on her break shot. Overall, Valencia required 150 shots for qualifying, a solid total.
Group two leads off the afternoon, and the sixth player of the day starts it all as Watermelon, the Pearl Surfers co-captain, shoots Accuracy with the silver cue and becomes the 51st player to complete qualifiers. Watermelon couldn't make a ball on the break, hampering her turn a bit as she closed with 21 shots and no errors. Watermelon finished qualifying with a strong 147 shots. Next up, Gradley of the Boston Swifts plays Rotation with the red cue. Gradley was close to getting a ball on the break, but it didn't work, and he would rack up five errors in 30 shots during a difficult game. Continuing along, Leonardo of the Midland Predators plays 9-ball with the silver cue. Leonardo made a ball on the break, but he took an early error that cost him a bit, ending on 15 shots in the game as he settled in a bit late. After that, Chris, the Capital City Sharpshooters captain ends his qualifying with the red cue in Accuracy, the 52nd player to finish. Chris didn't have anything to brag about, needing 22 shots with no errors after an empty break. Overall, it was a similar tune, as he finished with 179 shots in qualifiers. Finishing off this batch, Stealth of the Swordpoint Blades shoots 15-ball with the silver cue. Stealth didn't have a ball on the break, but he worked through a hot start. This faded and he had to chase a bit in the middle, where he picked up five errors among 26 total shots at the end of the game.
The third batch gets going with Hannah of the Royal Crowns shooting 9-ball with the red cue. Hannah couldn't get a ball on the break, but she was very crisp early in the game and only faded a bit at the end to take 13 shots and no errors for the appearance. Moving along, Nikolai of the Freedom Cascades plays Rotation with the blue cue. Nikolai thought he was doing well, but he had little command after making a ball on the break, taking five errors without intent during the game and needing 32 shots to complete the outing. The thirteenth player drawn to shoot today is Bandit of the Swordpoint Blades, as the rookie is the 53rd player to finish qualifying by playing Accuracy with the red cue. Bandit lacked a bit of precision early in his game, opting to try to impress with more difficult shots. He ended with 21 shots and one error after an empty break, and his overall score for qualifiers was 146 shots. Hoppy, the Southern Monarchs rookie, gets the next game to play 15-ball with the red cue. Hoppy showed absolute dominance, making a ball on the break and only tripping up with a single error late in the game, taking 21 shots for the appearance. The group closes with Frosty of the Stonebridge Wolves shooting 9-ball with the blue cue. Frosty did fairly well in the game, making a ball on the break and taking only one error in her 13 shots for a good score.
Opening up the fourth group, Nibbles, the Viewpoint Sound Meteors rookie, plays 15-ball with the red cue. Nibbles had a lot of early issues in his game, going empty on the break and then taking a number of avoidable errors. He ended up with five errors in 31 shots for the game as a whole. The seventeenth shooter today is Victoria Spurs rookie Wario, playing Rotation with the red cue. Wario put far too much sauce on his jump shot, giving him the last of his four errors after an empty break, and he closed at 29 shots once he settled back on the table. Moving along, Violetta, the Queens Flames rookie, plays Accuracy with the red cue to be the 54th player done with qualifying. Violetta is quickly becoming a can't miss rookie, as she made two balls on the break and cleared the rest of the table in 13 shots without an error. Overall, she clocked in at 136 shots for qualifiers, definitively in the upper-echelon of performances. Next up, the Monarchs' Hoppy returns to become the 55th player done with qualifiers as she plays Accuracy with the blue cue. Hoppy played well in this appearance, getting a ball on the break and finishing at 15 shots with no errors. Overall, Hoppy was right around average with 155 shots total. Closing out the group, Stephanie Livilotti shoots 10-ball with the silver cue for an all-rookie group. Stephanie shot 17 in her turn, making a ball on the break and taking one error for the appearance, a solid effort from the youngster.
Group five kicks off with Dani of the Web City Spiders playing Accuracy with the silver cue, finishing 56th in qualifying. Dani had an alright game, going empty on the break and then scuffling a bit early on before finishing with 21 shots and no errors. Dani had 155 shots for all of the qualifiers. Following that, Sprinkles of the Capital City Sharpshooters uses the red cue for Accuracy to finish 57th for qualifying. Sprinkles had a good start despite her empty break, but she didn't keep up the pace, closing with 22 shots for the appearance. Overall, she had a rough go of things with 161 total shots. Continuing along, Shaggy of the Whitewater Shores is the final player to finish 8-ball, using the red cue. Shaggy made two balls on the break, but faltered late with two errors and ended up at 22 shots for the game. The 24th player called today is Southridge Defenders rookie Bianca playing Rotation with the silver cue. Bianca would have liked a do-over, taking nothing on the break and ending up with three errors and many more mistake shots in a sloppy 32-shot game. Ending this batch, the Stills' Bells plays her second game of the day, Accuracy with the blue cue, as she finished her qualifying, the 58th player to do so. Bells had an unlucky stretch in her game, taking nothing on the break and then struggling in the middle before closing with 21 shots and no errors. Bells had a total of 144 shots in qualifiers, but there were many extremes in her games.
The sixth group gets going with Pounce, the new Southern Monarch, who will play 9-ball with the silver cue. Pounce had nothing on the break, and he would need 19 shots to complete the outing, taking three errors in a very sloppy appearance. The last player to shoot before the mid-afternoon break is Cheddar of the North Modernistic Nighthawks, who shoots Accuracy with the red cue as the 59th player to finish qualifying. Cheddar had nothing on the break and an early error, her only one, for a scratch. She did well over the middle, but ended slowly with 21 shots. Overall, Cheddar's 137 shots for qualifying marked a good performance. After the break, Delila, the Atlantic Pirates captain, shoots 9-ball with the silver cue. Delila made a ball on the break and didn't take any errors in her game, finishing with a solid 12 shots in the appearance. The next player drawn is Eastside Sharks star Taylor Swift, who plays 10-ball with the red cue. Taylor couldn't make anything on the break, and she'd take one error late as she finished the game in 18 shots, a solid performance. Wrapping up the group, Americus of the Atlantic Pirates plays 9-ball with the silver cue, the last of that particular game-stick combination. Americus has struggled a bit throughout her games, and this was no different, as she'd take 16 shots with one error and nothing on the break to get through this one.
Group seven leads off with Boots, the new Pearl Surfer, shooting 15-ball with the blue cue. Boots didn't make a ball on the break, instead scratching for one of her two errors, but she closed well, ending the game with 26 shots in a solid effort. The 32nd player of the day is Midnight of the Westside Rockers, who will shoot 15-ball with the red cue. Midnight had two balls on the break, and seemed to breeze through the early part of the game, but she started to falter late, taking three errors and ending up at 27 shots despite having a relatively easy position on all of them. Following that, Lionel of the Commerce Tradewinds was selected to play Accuracy with the blue cue, the 60th play finished with qualifiers. Lionel erased some of the concerns regarding the quality of his play by knocking the rack down in 15 shots, taking a ball on the break and getting through it with no errors. Lionel was fairly average with 154 shots overall. Next up, Nightfur of the Royal Crowns plays 15-ball with the silver cue. Nightfur was having a rough game, getting nothing on the break and collecting six errors before finding a release valve with the 11-15 combination to the top side to end the game at 26 shots. Closing out the group, Sally of the Archtown Arrows plays Accuracy with the blue cue, the 61st player to finish qualifying. Sally had nothing on the break but played well to take 18 shots with no errors in the game as a whole. Sally finished qualifying with 147 shots.
Today's final group sees Pronger Tridents rookie Potter step up to play Rotation with the blue cue. Potter had a remarkable performance, taking just one error after an empty break but also cruising his way to a score of 21 shots for the outing. Moving along, Diddley of the Maplewood Lumberjacks plays 15-ball with the blue cue. Diddley got by alright without making a ball on the break, and while he did take two errors early on for an intentionally illegal play, he closed the game at 21 shots, placing himself nicely in the ranks. The 38th player of the day is Southridge Defenders rookie Stephanie Livilotti, who is set to play 12-ball with the red cue. Stephanie made a ball on the break, but she would still take 25 shots with two errors in the appearance, misplaying a few shots that made her game a bit longer than it had to be. Up next, Kayla of the Royal Crowns uses the blue cue to play Accuracy, becoming the 62nd player to finish qualifying. Kayla played a relatively mediocre game in this appearance, taking nothing on the break and no errors in her 22 shots for the game. Overall, it was a similar picture, with Kayla clocking in at 162 shots. The day ends with Central Warriors veteran Gizmo playing 10-ball with the silver cue. Gizmo had nothing on the break and no errors in the game, ending with three straight bank shots to close at 16 shots in an impressive show of skill.
With the lighter day today, we'll be aiming for 50 games tomorrow as we try to maintain the pace to finish Qualifiers by Tuesday.
