Elite Cricket 2019 - Week 10

Week 10 rolls on with Elite action Wednesday and Thursday, beginning with...

Toyota Pitch, Freedom: The Cascades give Nikolai a game off in this meeting, while the Prestige sit Citrus in the first of their five games this week. Acorn took a stumble with 180 for Lighton at the start, putting them in a tough position right from the start. Jasmine fired back with 763 for Freedom, giving the hosts a large lead. Spirit fired back with 675 for the Prestige on the second attack, enough to cover the deficit for now. Roxy countered with 545 for the Cascades, protecting their lead at the halfway mark. Nicole went with 308 for Lighton, which wasn't enough to regain a temporary lead. Stripes replied with 350 for Freedom, again protecting their lead heading into the final turn. Shiny managed 187, but that left the Prestige short at 1550 in another loss. Stinky added 289 for the Cascades, icing their win at 1947. Freedom is up to 8-8, while Lighton drops to 5-12.

AT&T Oceanside Stadium, Oceanside: The Waves meet Coastal rivals in the Volcanoes, as Jason V. takes regular rest for the hosts and the visitors sit Cowzart. Starlight fell at 180 for Pacific, giving them a rough start to the table-topping rivalry match. Snuggle fired back with 585 for Oceanside, establishing the early advantage for the hosts. Ms. Kitty clubbed 600 for the Volcanoes to get them back on track. Celestia had the pace but not the longevity for the Waves, ending at 379 to weaken their lead midway through the game. Twinkie I attacked with 504 for Pacific, sensing they could take the upper hand. Josie didn't get much back with 283 for Oceanside, putting them slightly behind late in the game. Leonette hit a solid 371 for the Volcanoes at the end, giving them a final score of 1655. Dewey couldn't catch up, his 328 leaving the Waves short at 1575. Pacific pulls off the road upset to get to 12-6, while Oceanside gets pulled down to 14-5.

Nike Field, Commerce: The surging Tradewinds sit their captain Tigerette for unexpected rest, while the Flames come back from a bye with their captain Crystal sitting out. Violetta had an unusually bad start with 192 for Queens, a recurring theme for poor lead-off turns from visitors. Solaris scooped up an even 500 for Commerce, staking out a solid lead for the hosts. Briana saved the Flames by slugging 1439 to pull them far ahead on the second attack. Taylor S. barely responded at all with 280, stunned at how quickly things went sour for the Tradewinds. Mario coasted in with 290 for Queens, just covering the previous damage to maintain their lead. Niki couldn't break the run of mediocrity with 267 for Commerce, making a comeback unlikely. Hannah went with 328 for the Flames at the end, capping their offense at 2249. Rosemary attacked with 611 for the Tradewinds, but they still suffered defeat at 1658. Queens jumps to 10-8, while Commerce slides back to 14-8.

GE Stadium, Southridge: The Defenders are back in action after a bye, with their captain Debby sitting out, while the visiting Knights play without Melissa for regular rest. Kiwi showed some bite with 724 for Terrace City, giving them a healthy lead initially. Bianca showed some pace but shoved a swing out of play to end with 385 in a weaker start for Southridge. Jennifer added 529 for the Knights on the second attack, strengthening their advantage. Stephanie got distracted and fell with 96 for the Defenders, an embarrassing showing in front of her older sister's side. Oreo piled on with 534 for Terrace City, boosting their lead again. Wario posted 556 for Southridge in a respectable response, but it likely won't change things for the hosts. Quincy replied with 603 for the Knights, capping their strong offense at 2390. Caitlin spun 729 for the Defenders in a late rally, but they still fell short at 1766. Terrace City jumps to 12-11 while Southridge is 3-16.

Henry Ford Memorial Stadium, Pronger: The host Tridents will give Spot regular rest here, while the Defenders finish a doubleheader with Stephanie sitting out. Bianca did alright with 376 for Southridge on the opening turn, but they'll need a bit more than that to feel safe. Precious slipped at a mild 225 for Pronger, causing them to start from behind. Debby added 388 for the Defenders, essentially doubling their offense with the effort. Zach made a gain with 454 for the Tridents, trying to keep them competitive. Wario took a quick swing that allowed a ball to sneak behind him, ending his turn at a simple 334 for Southridge. Potter scooped 595 for Pronger on his turn, pulling them ahead with a player each to go. Caitlin kept the Defenders balanced with 371, forcing a response to their final score of 1469. Lize dropped off with 112 for the Tridents, costing them the game with a total of 1386. Southridge is lucky to rise to 4-16, while Pronger frustratingly falls to 10-7.

Verizon Field, Pacific: The Volcanoes play their second game of the week with Starlight sitting on the bench, while the Crowns sit Cassie as they look to steal a game on the road. Kayla lined 541 for Royal at the start, a positive attack early in the game. Ms. Kitty answered with 550 for Pacific, making it an extremely close game at first. Jake lowered the stakes with 310 for the Crowns, weakening their advantage. Twinkie I replied with 484 for the Volcanoes, giving them a more noticeable lead halfway through the game. Nightfur charged with 674 for Royal this time, covering the deficit with force. Leonette took a fall at 96 for Pacific, destroying the lead they held late in the game. Brownie churned out 373 for the Crowns to give them a total of 1898. Cowzart produced 256 for the Volcanoes, leaving them short of the mark with 1386 in the loss. Royal's surprise fifth straight road win carries them to 7-12, while Pacific drops to 12-7.

Pepsi Prestige Park, Lighton: The Waves play two straight in Lighton, sitting Josie for this game, while the Prestige begin a busy segment of games with Acorn serving as a spectator. Snuggle ripped 662 for Oceanside at the start. Citrus took a fall at 250 for Lighton, unable to recover much of the deficit with her mediocre turn. Celestia added on with 434 for the Waves, building their lead a little higher. Spirit carved out 445 for the Prestige, keeping the deficit level at the midway mark. Dewey did well with 542 for Oceanside, strengthening their lead again. Nicole was downed with a high hit at 205 for Lighton, likely ending their comeback effort. Jason V. capped the Waves' offense with 479, giving them a total of 2117. Shiny tried to make a save but fell with 441 for the Prestige, leaving them at 1341 overall in the loss. Oceanside is up to 15-5, comfortably atop the division, while Lighton slid to 5-13.

Sony Stadium, Queens: The Flames give Hannah regular rest, while the Prestige play their third of five games this week with Shiny sitting out. Acorn swung his way to 635 for Lighton on the opening turn, returning to the lineup with a vengeful kick. Crystal hit 305 for Queens in response, a weaker start for the host side. Citrus rallied with 576 to add onto the Prestige lead with a strong second attack. Violetta answered with 652 for the Flames, cutting into the deficit a bit as she tries to save the hosts. Spirit barreled 681 for Lighton on the counterattack, keeping their lead secure for another turn. Briana fell with 287 for Queens, unable to replicate her last outing as it looks like their headed to a loss. Nicole dropped with 112 for the Prestige, setting their final score at 2004. Mario couldn't make the comeback, his 80 points leaving the Flames with 1324. Lighton is up to 6-13, while Queens drops back to 10-9.

Apple Park, Todavía: The Stills and Cascades begin a home-and-home doubleheader here, with Easter sitting for the Stills and Stinky on the bench for performance reasons for the Cascades. Jasmine stayed strong with 605 for Freedom, putting out an immediate challenge to the hosts. Ruby showed just as much strength with 674 for Todavía, edging the hosts ahead initially. Roxy kept the scoring high with 691 for the Cascades on her turn, challenging the hosts again. Sierra raised the stakes again with 729 for the Stills, keeping them ahead at the halfway mark. Nikolai took a step back with 529 for Freedom, but it was still enough to cover the deficit. Bells dropped off harder at 447 for Todavía, but they retain a small lead heading into the final turn. Stripes set the final score with 616 individually for a total of 2441 for the Cascades. Prism couldn't keep up, her 316 leaving the Stills short at 2166. Freedom escapes the bonanza with a 9-8 record, while Todavía sinks to 7-13.

Toyota Pitch, Freedom: In the rematch, the visiting Stills sit Bells, while the host Cascades keep Stinky sidelined after winning without him. Ruby show some of the same tenacity from last game with 454 for Todavía at the start this time. Jasmine slammed 769 for Freedom this time, putting them ahead right away. Sierra fired back with 503 for the Stills, keeping things competitive with the nice chunk of offense. Roxy kept the Cascades in control with 674 on her second attack, building their lead halfway through the game. Easter couldn't keep up with 391 for Todavía, hurting the visitors' comeback chances. Nikolai slowed with 245 for Freedom, potentially endangering their lead late in the game. Prism collected 569 for the Stills, covering the deficit with their final score of 1917. Stripes had a good pace, bailing her out when a high hit ended her turn at 370 to give the Cascades a win at 2058. Freedom sweeps the home-and-home to get to 10-8, while Todavía unluckily drops to 7-14.

Pepsi Prestige Park, Lighton: The Prestige cycle Nicole out of the lineup for this game, while the Waves will try to take another victory without Celestia in the lineup. Snuggle led off with 550 for Oceanside, a slightly slower start than in the previous meeting. Acorn answered with 652 for Lighton, putting the hosts ahead this time. Josie showed good pace for the Waves, but her 445 gave them a smaller lead than before. Citrus faded with 220 for the Prestige at the midway point, unable to cover the deficit this time. Dewey didn't do much to protect Oceanside's lead, chipping a simple 292 on his turn. Spirit did just enough to give Lighton a lead with 422, leaving the result of the game up to the final players. Jason V. made a good push with 539 to give the Waves a total of 1826. Shiny faltered with 185 after false-starting on her first attempt, leaving the Prestige at a loss again with 1479. Oceanside soars to 16-5, while Lighton dives again to 6-14.

Kraft Crowns Park, Royal: Nicole will sit for a second time this week as the Prestige meet the Crowns in the week 10 finale; the hosts have Brownie on the bench for regular rest. Acorn skidded with 345 for Lighton, feeling the fatigue of a heavy schedule. Kayla got lost in thought and let a ball skip over her bat, ending her turn early with just 96 for Royal. Citrus butchered the chance to boost the lead, falling at 192 with a quick exit. Jake didn't help the low-scoring cause at all with just 156 on his turn, sending the Crowns stumbling into the halfway point. Spirit, who's played all five Lighton games this week, showed weakness with 249 in this appearance. Nightfur had a measly 146 for Royal, letting another opportunity to catch up go to waste. Shiny shined with 669 for the Prestige, setting their final score at 1455. Cassie fell at 90 points for the Crowns, confirming their loss at 488 overall. Both teams remain firmly in the relegation zone, as Lighton is up to 7-14, just a half game back of the 7-13 Royal side.

This segment of the week is over, with Premier set to take over for Friday and Saturday (and maybe Sunday if necessary). Currently, the Tournament may have to be pushed back another week for its start, which would make it ready to go on April 8 if unable to start on April 1.
