Qualifiers 2019 - Day 28

The biggest week for qualifying is here, as we intend to wrap up the first phase of the Tournament cycle this week. We'll play the regular 50 games today, beginning with...

Diamond Gems newcomer Leonardo shooting 15-ball with the blue cue. Leonardo played a respectful game, avoiding the cheap finish but ending with four errors and 35 shots in a full rack after an empty break. Pacific Volcanoes newcomer Cowzart tries his hand in 15-ball with the silver cue in the next game. Cowzart wasn't much better, with an empty break and 33 shots, marred by five errors he couldn't avoid. Everton Eagles captain Goldy keeps the silver cue in play for Rotation. Goldy fell into the early trap as well, with 33 shots and four errors after seeing nothing fall on the break. Capital City Sharpshooters sophomore Pauline will give it a try with the silver cue in her Rotation game. Pauline made a ball on the break and just kept going, taking no errors in 21 shots in the first really good game of the day. Her ball on the break validated the breaking results for Rotation. The 5th player drawn today is Pauline again, playing 15-ball with the blue cue in her second consecutive game. Pauline did it again, going empty on the break and immediately taking two intentional errors before shutting it down at 19 shots.

The second group kicks off with Roxy of the Freedom Cascades doing Rotation with the red cue. Roxy made nothing on the break and took two errors early on with intent, then settled in to close at 24 shots for the game. Commerce Tradewinds veteran Niki keeps the red cue in action for 12-ball. Niki didn't make a ball on the break, and then a brutal stick foul led to one of her four errors in 28 shots to clear the rack. Twinkie III makes it a third straight red cue game, as the Whitewater Shores star plays 15-ball. Twinkie III got a ball on the break and managed to finish with 24 shots and just two errors for the game. The ninth player called to shoot today is Pacific Volcanoes veteran Ms. Kitty, who plays Accuracy with the blue cue to be the 89th player done with qualifying. Ms. Kitty played exceptionally, with no errors and 16 shots after making a ball on the break. Her totals end at 178 shots and 20 errors. At the back of the group, Tysini Hummingbirds star Charli plays 12-ball with the silver cue. Charli had a solid performance with two balls on the break and one error over 24 shots.

The third batch begins with an ending, as Southridge Defenders newcomer Wario plays Accuracy with the silver cue, the 90th player to exit qualifiers, which makes it half of the league's players that are done. Wario needed only 15 shots and no errors after potting a pair on the break. He closed at 180 shots and 11 errors across all appearances. Next up, Pronger Tridents sophomore Lize shoots 13-ball with the silver cue. Lize faltered early in her game despite making a ball on the break, taking three errors before settling in to finish at 26 shots. Royal Crowns star Jake plays the 13th game of the day, using the blue cue in 15-ball. Jake took his time after an empty break, picking up four errors in 30 shots to finish the game. Todavía Stills newcomer Ruby draws in for 12-ball with the red cue. Ruby had no errors after making a ball on the break, but still needed 25 shots to get the right positioning to end the game. Stonebridge Wolves newcomer Wild Thing finishes the group with the blue cue in hand for 15-ball. Wild Thing couldn't get a ball on the break, but he was sharp with just one error in 21 shots for the rest of the game.

Group four leads off with North Modernistic Nighthawks sophomore Gal playing 15-ball with the red cue. Gal made a ball on the break, but faded off a hot pace and took one error in 30 shots by the end of the game. The Wolves' Wild Thing returns to be 91st to finish qualifying as he plays Accuracy with the silver cue. Wild Thing needed 17 shots after making a ball on the break complete the game, taking no errors. Overall he had 142 shots and just 6 errors in his qualifiers. Continuing along, Boston Swifts captain Patches takes on 12-ball with the silver cue. Patches spent too much time tweaking positioning, ending up with 30 shots and two errors after an empty break in a slow showing. The Hummingbirds' Charli returns for a second game today, playing 13-ball with the red cue. Charli struggled in a similar way with 30 shots and three errors after she made a ball on the break, crowding the top right with half of the solids. Central Warriors captain Twilight goes 20th today, playing 15-ball with the red cue. Twilight couldn't save a late mess in her game, taking six errors and an empty break for 30 shots.

The fifth group gets going as Stephanie of the Southridge Defenders tries 13-ball with the silver cue. Stephanie took a ball on the break and then finished in 23 shots with just one error as everything came together nicely at the end. The silver cue stays in action with Cleo of the Everton Eagles playing 15-ball. Cleo didn't get anything but the first of her four errors on the break, but she saved it by finishing in 27 shots. Valencia plays the 23rd game of the day, and the Golden Pilots captain is the 92nd player to finish qualifying by shooting Accuracy with the silver cue. Nothing good came from Valencia's finale, as she had 23 shots and one error after going empty on the break, giving her 164 shots and 7 errors overall. Royal Crowns captain Nightfur gets the next game, using the blue cue in Rotation. Nightfur wasted no time in attack, making a ball on the break and then needing only 20 shots to complete the effort. More Rotation follows with Swordpoint Blades newcomer Sugar playing in the event with the red cue. Sugar did well initially despite an empty break, but the 9 rattled her by jiggling out twice, and she ended with three errors and 31 shots.

The 26th player called today is Charli, using the blue cue in Rotation in her third appearance of the day. Charli pushed a ball down on the break and then took two errors intentionally, sparking a big start. She butchered the ending, but still finished at 25 shots. Midland Predators captain Shawn goes next with the red cue in hand for 13-ball. Shawn made two balls on the break and added three errors, one on a delayed illegally potted ball call, but he managed to end at 22 shots. The red cue stays up as Lighton Prestige veteran Nicole plays Rotation. Nicole had nothing on the break and stayed honest with her shooting, which led to 34 shots and four errors in a frustrating outing. Back in 13-ball, Golden Pilots newcomer Max is set to use the silver cue in the event. Max had nothing on the break, but he held his ground, finishing with one error and only 23 shots. Rounding out the group, Max comes back to play Rotation with the silver cue. Max made a ball late on the break, and then took only one error before igniting his offense to end at 22 shots.

Opening group seven, Queens Flames superstar Violetta shoots Rotation with the silver cue. Violetta had an awful time with 35 shots and five errors after an empty break, her qualifying slump persisting. Midland Predators star Rainmane will try to salvage the silver cue's Rotation reputation in the 32nd game of the day. Rainmane did no such thing, getting a ball on the break but needing eleven errors in 35 shots to get out of the appearance. Victoria Spurs veteran Strawberry comes on with the red cue in 15-ball. Strawberry had nothing from the break and ended up at 27 shots after a sloppy finish. She took three errors in the game. Tysini Hummingbirds veteran Paps is the 93rd to finish qualifying, using the blue cue for his Accuracy appearance. Paps potted a ball on the break and ended with 17 shots and no errors, totaling 175 shots and 14 errors throughout his sessions. Wrapping up the bunch, the Flames' Violetta returns for 15-ball with the red cue in her second game of the day. Violetta made a ball on the break and took no errors in 24 shots, redeeming herself a bit in a typically difficult event.

The eighth group starts with Tysini Hummingbirds rookie Sarah playing 10-ball with the blue cue. Sarah pounded the rack down in 18 shots with one error after her empty break. Maplewood Lumberjacks veteran Gabe goes 37th today, shooting Rotation with the red cue. Gabe had a short trigger for intentional errors, quickly taking four out of six in that manner. He did have a ball on the break, and he closed at 29 shots. Moving along, Jack of the Web City Spiders also plays Rotation with the red cue. Jack likewise had a ball on the break, but four errors and a few frustrating other mistakes pushed him up to 32 shots. Swordpoint Blades veteran Stealth keeps the red cue in action for his 15-ball qualifier. Stealth made a ball on the break, but also had five errors and illegally potted the 15, forcing him to clear the rack, which he did in 33 shots. Completing the set, Mario of the Queens Flames plays Rotation with the silver cue. Mario made two balls on the break and played well early on, but five errors and poorer late shooting pushed him to 30 shots for the game.

The Spurs' Strawberry fronts the ninth group, playing Accuracy with the red cue as the 94th player to complete qualifying. Strawberry managed to avoid errors after an empty break, taking 19 shots for the game. Overall, she had 185 shots and 14 errors. Next up, Lighton Prestige captain Acorn does 15-ball with the blue cue. Acorn quickly assessed the game and decided to rack up eight intentional errors in 27 shots after an empty break. Freedom Cascades veteran Stinky keeps the blue cue in action for Rotation. Stinky barely kept his game respectable, with four errors and 30 shots after an empty break and a slow start from there. The Nighthawks' Gal is the 95th player to complete qualifying, returning for her second game of the day in Accuracy with the blue cue. Gal made three balls on the break and only missed once on the final ball, ending with 13 shots and no errors for totals of 152 shots and 11 errors. Concluding this bunch, Cowzart of the Volcanoes gets his second game of the day in Accuracy with the red cue, making him the 96th player done with qualifying. Cowzart didn't do as well, but he cleared the rack in 16 shots with no errors after an empty break. He had rough overall numbers with 196 shots and 11 errors.

The last group commences with Kodiak of the Modernistic Union playing 15-ball with the blue cue. Kodiak made a ball on the break and then finished the game in 22 shots with just one error. North Modernistic Nighthawks veteran Cheddar grabs the next game, playing 12-ball with the blue cue. Cheddar immediately had control in her game with a ball on the break, and while she took two errors, she ended in 21 shots. She'll get a chance to try some more magic in 13-ball with the blue cue, as Cheddar was drawn again. It was too much, too soon for Cheddar, who went empty on the break and took six errors as positioning absolutely failed her in her 37-shot outing. More 13-ball awaits in today's 49th game, as the Todavía Stills' Prism plays in the event with the silver cue. Prism didn't get a ball on the break, but she had only one error in 24 shots in a much better performance than her predecessor. Finally, Commerce Tradewinds captain Tigerette plays Accuracy with the red cue to be the 97th player done with qualifying. Tigerette needed 22 shots and two errors after an empty break to close the game, ending with totals of 193 shots and 23 errors overall.

That's all for today. We'll be back with another session of qualifying tomorrow.
