Elite Cricket 2019 - Week 9

Elite is back for three days this week, playing Monday thru Wednesday. First up...

Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The Knights sit Kiwi as they try to snap a lengthy losing streak, while the Stills bench Bells for this road game. Ruby had a reasonable 394 for Todavía to start their attack in decent form. Jennifer was livid to see a good turn wiped out by a technical issue, but she bludgeoned 619 for Terrace City on the second attempt to take the initial lead. Sierra shot back with 569 for the Stills, doing her part to cover the deficit for now. Oreo matched that nearly with 556 for the Knights, maintaining their lead at the halfway mark. Easter's 256 did nothing to dig Todavía out of the struggles they've had in this game. Quincy kept things steady with 305 for Terrace City, unable to break his recent drop-off in production. Prism put up a challenge with 534 for the Stills, setting their final score at 1753. Melissa locked down the win with 731 for the Knights, capping their offense at 2211. Terrace City's eight-game losing skid is over as they go back to 11-10, while Todavía drops to 7-10.

Verizon Field, Pacific: The Volcanoes give Ms. Kitty a rare day off as they host the struggling Prestige, who will sit Shiny for only the second time this season. Acorn smashed 843 for Lighton to lead things off in a positive manner for the visitors. Starlight answered with a solid 476 for Pacific, but they've got some work left to do. Citrus collected 450 for the Prestige in response, mitigating the damage done by the hosts. Twinkie I eased up at 321 for the Volcanoes, causing the deficit to grow a little more in the middle of the game. Spirit didn't do much to help the Lighton lead with 330, as they appear to be hoping their captain's lead-off turn is enough. Leonette pushed with 434 for Pacific, shrinking the deficit slightly heading into the final turn. Nicole faltered with a measly 18 for the Prestige, leaving the door wide open as they finish with 1641. Cowzart survived some odd bounces from a dead ball on the pitch, tallying 543 to seal the Volcanoes' win at 1774. Pacific rises to 10-5, while Lighton dips to 4-10.

Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: The Surfers return home and sit Beth in this contest versus the Knights, who will put Quincy on the bench at the start of their five-game road trip. Kiwi started with a modest 300 for Terrace City, dangerously low against their high-flying hosts. Watermelon belted 1062 for Pearl, showing her sister how to lead off a game with force. Jennifer got 600 back for the Knights on their second attack. Boots countered with 517 for the Surfers to mitigate Jennifer's offense. Oreo pressed with 460 for Terrace City, but that was still not enough to cover the deficit at this time. Neopolitan ferociously ripped 1153 for Pearl on her turn, the massive output likely putting the result firmly in favor of her side. Melissa hit 445 for the Knights, their losing total resting at 1805. Bright had a simple 258 for the Surfers to seal their win at 2990. Pearl jumps to 11-5, while Terrace City slips back to 11-11.

AT&T Oceanside Stadium, Oceanside: The Waves begin a split-day doubleheader, sitting Celestia for regular rest, while the visiting Crowns bench Jake this time out. Nightfur fought back with 514 for the Crowns, who are putting up a remarkable fight in the early going. Josie couldn't keep up, her 209 causing the Waves to fall noticeably behind at the midway point. Brownie kept Royal's attack sharp with 490, forcing the hosts to make a move soon. Dewey failed to do so, his 177 leaving Oceanside far back with little time to correct course. Cassie tacked on 407 to give the Crowns a total of 1973. Jason V. made a reasonable attempt at a rally, but his 569 left the Waves short at a final score of 1564. Royal's upset win takes them to 6-12, while Oceanside is 13-4 and still atop the division.

AT&T Oceanside Stadium, Oceanside: The Waves finish their doubleheader with a Coastal Derby, sitting Dewey, while the visiting Surfers have Boots resting in the rivalry match. Jasmine slipped up with only 192 to start for Freedom this time, putting them in a vulnerable position immediately. Spirit churned her way to 874 for the Prestige to give their lead a huge boost midway through the game. Nikolai missed a swing, ending his turn at 310 for Freedom, allowing the deficit to grow. Nicole piled on with 479 for Lighton, adding another extension to their lead. Stripes made a quick exit at a measly 65 points, leaving he Cascades with 875 in a hard loss. Shiny made it simple with 144 for the Prestige, finishing their win at 2047. Lighton snapped a seven-game skid and a six-game home losing streak to get to 5-10, while Freedom is 6-8.

Apple Park, Todavía: Prism finds herself on the bench for the Stills in this meeting, and the Cascades will sit Roxy to complete their doubleheader. Jasmine did better in lead off for Freedom this time with 589. Ruby answered with 470 for Todavía, keeping things close initially despite the slight deficit. Nikolai dived with 373 for the Cascades, causing their lead to weaken a bit on the second attack as he's dropped off his early season pace. Sierra didn't help the cause for the Stills with 313, actually leading them to fall slightly farther behind. Stripes erupted with 908 for Freedom on her turn, strengthening their lead with the epic strike. Bells clawed out 420 for Todavía, but the hosts appear set to take the loss this time. Stinky faltered with 144 in his return from a game off, leaving the Cascades at a total of 2014. Easter couldn't do enough to save the Stills, her 336 setting their final score at 1539 in the loss. Freedom improves to 7-8, while Todavía falls back to 7-11.

Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: The Volcanoes begin a split-day doubleheader with a Coastal Derby, with Cowzart sitting out for the visitors, while the host Surfers sit Bright as they try to regain form. Starlight posted 375, using good pace but falling to a high swing as Pacific's off to a reasonable start. Watermelon replied with 454 for Pearl, enough to take a small lead in the rivalry match's early stages. Ms. Kitty raised the stakes with 515 for the Volcanoes on the second attack, keeping the hosts honest. Apple Park, Todavía: The Tradewinds make a quick trip south for the second of four straight games, sitting Rosemary versus a Stills team giving Ruby a rare game off. Tigerette put up another tone-setter with 861 for Commerce, pressuring the hosts immediately. Sierra countered with 994 for Todavía, refusing to be pushed around like their neighbors to the north were in the last game. Solaris faltered with 337 for the Tradewinds, giving them a much smaller lead on the second attack. Bells answered with 361 for the Stills, doing enough to maintain a small lead. Taylor S. made an impact with 606 for Commerce, keeping the hosts on their toes. Easter slipped at 355, missing and blocking a couple of swings before overcompensating with a high hit. Nike Field, Commerce: Back at home, the Tradewinds play their third in a four-game stretch. Nicole sits for the visiting Prestige, while the Tradewinds bench Taylor S. for rest. Acorn started with 668 for Lighton, a good attack knowing how hot the hosts are running in the midst of their quadrupleheader. Watermelon rests for the hosts, while the visitors sit Solaris for rest at the end of the quad. Tigerette struggled again with 130, potentially entering a slump after the flurry of games. Boots replied with a decent 416 for Pearl, putting the hosts ahead by a small margin. Taylor S. clubbed 786 for the Tradewinds, getting them back on track after the slow start. Neopolitan mitigated the damage with 490 for the Surfers, which sees them slip a little behind. Niki sliced 499 for Commerce, keeping them ahead by a reasonable amount. Bright fell off the pace with only 112 for Pearl, which means they'll need a big push on the final turn. Rosemary scattered 429 for the Tradewinds at the end, icing their offense at 1844. Beth didn't adjust for the Surfers, her 184 sticking them with a loss at 1202. Commerce sweeps their quad to get to 14-7 in second place, while Pearl's depth remains an issue that has them down to 11-8 in fifth place.

That'll be it for Elite this week. Premier is set to play tomorrow, but the ability to finish the week's action over the weekend is currently murky. Expect the majority of the action to come Saturday and any leftovers to happen Sunday.
