UPCL Cricket: Week 25 Part 3

The last segment of the week begins with a mostly uninspiring fixture from...

Microsoft Pitch at Del Sur: The Monarchs have a chance to sweep, but the task will be tough against an improved Rockers team. Misty got cut down quickly with only 60 for Westside, putting them in a bad position early on. Panda didn't exactly capitalize with just 145 for Southern, making it a low-scoring start to the game. Goatee manufactured 433 for the Rockers despite some iffy swings, giving them a better second effort. Shannon froze up when a ball bounced off another ball, and she missed both of them with her swing, taking only 144 for the Monarchs as they fall behind. Midnight cemented the Westside lead by slugging 1297 in an impressive turn. Kirstin didn't quit for Southern, replying with a bit 732 to mitigate some of the damage. Chicky Phil popped 492 for the Rockers, putting them at 2282 as their final. Nicole fumbled early with only 16 for the Monarchs, giving them 1047 in the loss. Westside continues a surge to 22-30, while Southern is 13-40, the first team to lose 40 this season.

GE Stadium, Southridge: The Defenders get a shot at redemption as the skidding Sharks hope to stay on the Bubble Watch. Graham struggled early on but came around to score 567 for Eastside, a strong start for the troubled team. Boots answered with 352 for Southridge, keeping them on the fringe of being in range. Chelsea upped the Sharks lead with 414 on her turn, a good performance. Debby gave the Defenders a minor lead as she smacked 696, pulling them ahead at the halfway point. Taylor got beat with an odd bounce, and she knocked out her own wicket as she tried to pull back, scoring 361 for Eastside in the process. J. Garcia carried Southridge further ahead with 538, using her bat as a bounce-pad for a high-arcing ball that ended up clipping the corner of the back 4s to keep her turn alive. Niki failed to force a response, hitting 187 as the Sharks lost a sixth straight game on the road, with a final of 1529. Shaggy had 227 to cap the Defenders win at 1813. Southridge jumped to 21-29 on a third straight win, while Eastside is 25-28 on their seventh straight loss.

Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint: It's a big meeting between elite teams, with the Warriors seeking the sweep in this game. Twilight pummeled 895 for Central to lead things off in a big way. Snowball was doing fine until a choppy swing brought her turn to an end with 345 for Swordpoint. Dustin belted another 1249 for the Warriors, likely already securing the game with a fantastic performance. Dreamy managed 208 for the Blades, but they are not even in sight for this game. Noelle crushed another 1340 as Central not only decimates their hosts, but sends a warning shot around the league. Shawn put up 375 as Swordpoint is merely trying to finish respectably in this thorough beating. Gizmo looked like a lightweight despite hitting 742, bringing the Warriors to a final of 4226, the eleventh such team effort to breach 4000 points. Stealth individually had success with 636 for the Blades, putting them at a wholly reasonable 1564. Central's epic win sends them to 31-19, just a half-game back of the 31-18 Swordpoint side they just annihilated.

Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The league's hottest team hosts its busiest, with the latter looking for the sweep. Fluffina picked up 242 for Maplewood in a bit of a poor start. Kiwi had a rare slip up, taking only 48 as Terrace City finds themselves in an odd position. Bryant had a serviceable 272 to add a bit to the Lumberjacks lead. Jennifer had to choose between three swing patterns, and couldn't decide, taking only 131 for the Knights as things get more dangerous for them. Diddley ended on 434 after he accidentally knocked out his wicket when a ball got behind his bat, but Maplewood still has a nice lead. Oreo made an impact with 713 for Terrace City, pulling them close with a player each to go. Cubby melted under pressure with only 66 for the Lumberjacks, leaving them at a final of 1014. Stripes levied 503 for the Knights, carrying them to 1395 overall in the comeback victory. Terrace City stretches the winning streak to 11 games on a record of 31-20, while Maplewood is down to 21-21 after the loss in the Bubble Watch game, but they retain sixteenth place.

Apple Park, Todavía: This is the first meeting between two of the Coastal region's biggest names, with the Volcanoes getting their crack at taking over the West Division lead. Starlight didn't have her best with 240 for Pacific to start. Easter had one slide off the end of her bat, bringing her to 334 as Todavía gets the first lead. Ms. Kitty answered with 337 for the Volcanoes, keeping the game steady. Sierra upped the Stills lead by striking 506 to boost their lead at the halfway mark. Jack allowed Pacific to fall farther with a meager 51 on his turn. Leonardo poked 281 as Todavía is in control for this game. Leonette made an honest effort, but her 361 left the Volcanoes with 989 in the loss. Sparkles collected 456 to ice the Stills win at 1577. Todavía gets a critical win to keep the Bubble Watch interesting, moving to 27-28, while Pacific is now 32-20, squandering a big opportunity for themselves.

Cisco Tysini Field, Tysini: The Blades aren't safe yet, as the Hummingbirds have a chance to tie them if they can complete a sweep on the Gems. Smokey came out blazing but burned out at 264 for Diamond as he missed the corner of safety. Princess answered with 423 for Tysini, stemming from an optional replay and ending with an ill-advised backward spike. The Gems got 304 out of Citrus, enough to cover the deficit. Leandra let out a choice word as she flubbed her turn with only 12 for the Hummingbirds, adding a complication at the midway point for the hosts. Pedey had a modest 248 for Diamond, not extending the lead as much as he'd have liked to. Charli lost ground for Tysini with only 208 on her turn, and they are in danger of taking a loss late in the game. Cassandra had a meager 41 for the Gems, leaving them at 857 as she botched the finale. Bright couldn't recover for the Hummingbirds, taking just 129 as they lost with 772. Diamond ends a four game losing streak as they reach 20-30, while Tysini is 30-19, and the Warriors take over fifth in the league while the Blades survive two failed attacks on their perch.

Sprint Pitch, Victoria: The Spurs have a chance to sweep the Pirates, which would be quite the upset. Delila didn't give Atlantic a lot to work with, hitting just 169 in her opening turn. Spice mashed 472 to give Victoria a noticeable lead at this point. Amber gave the Pirates a bit more hope with 521, pulling them ahead for now. B. Chapman countered with 594 for the Spurs, adding a little more to the lead than before. Americus failed to cover the deficit with 276 for Atlantic, and they are now in a bad spot. Yekaterina got almost no separation for Victoria, hitting a paltry 90 to tighten things up late in the game. Dominic flipped the deficit with his 402 for the Pirates, putting them at 1368 as their final. Kavan blew them away with 449 for the Spurs, giving them 1605 total in the win. Victoria is up to 20-31, while Atlantic drops to 25-20 as they get a bit shaky.

Volkswagen Stadium, Viewpoint Sound: It's the first meeting of the year between these teams, with the Tradewinds looking to solidify second place some more. Tigerette had a poor 144 for Commerce to lead things off. Mr. Snowman did well with 327 for Viewpoint Sound to take the initial lead in this game. Ice Cream fell with only 113 for the Tradewinds, and they are officially struggling with this game. Mams didn't have a great appearance, collecting only 233 for the Meteors as they have a tenuous lead at the halfway point. Lionel pounded 551 for Commerce to get back in the fight. Zach covered the deficit with 297 for Viewpoint Sound, but the lead is quite small with a player each to go. The rookie Lorde blitzed with 1069 for the Tradewinds, landing them at 1877 overall in what should go for a win. Kelly tried to respond with a rally of her own, but 538 left the Meteors at 1395 in the loss. Commerce is a resilient side, and they now stand at 37-15, while Viewpoint Sound is 19-29 after another setback.

Home Depot Forum, Web City: The Spiders are desperate now, and the Tridents pose an attractive sweep opportunity. Strawberry put up 327 at the start from Pronger, a decent showing. Shadow sliced up 506 for Web City, putting them in a modest lead early on. Hoot answered with 385 to give the Tridents another shot at a lead. Rainmane fell with 181 for the Spiders, failing to cover the deficit as the game gets close at the halfway mark. Precious botched it all for Pronger with just 25, making them highly vulnerable against even a team lacking much confidence. Sugar sort of capitalized with 256 for Web City, putting them in the lead as the final players come to bat. Paps couldn't force a response with his 195 for the Tridents, leaving them short at 932 total. Shiny brought about a quick finish with 112 for the Spiders, giving them 1055 as their winning final score. Web City is back on the bubble at 24-27 with the division win, while Pronger is down to 17-32 on the loss.

BMW RockDome, Westside: The resurgent Rockers need to salvage a split with the Tridents to keep a late rally going. Strawberry had only 208 for Pronger this time around, fatigued with a road doubleheader. Misty smashed 587 to give Westside a strong lead from the start. Hoot produced a mediocre 245 for the Tridents, and they don't seem to have much to give in this game. Goatee chipped another 425 as the Rockers run away with this game. Precious picked up a simple 251 as Pronger manages their way through an unfavorable situation. Midnight hit a light 120 for Westside, allowing them to cruise to the finish. Paps again fell only a little shy with 388 for the Tridents to give them 1092, just short of what they needed to force a response. Chicky Phil topped it off with 99 for the Rockers for a winning score of 1231. Westside has won five straight at home to get to 23-30, while Pronger is now at 17-33 with a second straight loss.

Samsung Whitewater Stadium, Whitewater: Last year's best hosts this year's best, with the latter wanting a sweep to close out the week of games. Goldy showed why she's leading a great team this season, showing poise in the face of trouble and then longevity to get to 898 for Everton's opening salvo. Last year's MVP didn't look the part, as Bear replied with 153 for Whitewater. Puff III tacked on 320 as the Eagles look to hold on with a big lead. Twinkie III cut into the deficit a bit with her 472 for the Shores against her twin sister. Cleo had a bit of a weak effort with only 152 for Everton. Cheddar failed to capitalize with only 66 for Whitewater. Blizzard's 202 gave the Eagles 1572 as their final score in a strong showing. Wild Thing didn't provide a challenge, hitting a measly 36 to put the Shores in a loss with 727. Everton has somehow quietly won eight in a row to go to 43-10, while Whitewater is 20-34 on the year.

Week 25 is complete, with a standings update to follow very shortly. Expect Week 26 to get going on Wednesday, even if there is no publication that day.
