We've shifted venues now, and the lower-ranked teams will have a chance to host a pair of games. First up...
Audi Knights Pitch, Terrace City: The Knights had a better performance yesterday, but will need a win here to keep their hopes alive against a dominant Shores team not yet slowing down. Bear kept a modest pace at first for Whitewater, then picked up his attack before a late fade left him at 651. Kiwi made a mess of her turn for Terrace City, her 141 putting them at an early deficit today. Twinkie III slugged 297 for the Shores, going at a ridiculous pace for nearly the entirety of her turn. Jennifer tried to pull the Knights back into the game, scoring 691 to mitigate the recent round of damage. Marsell stumbled with 192 for Whitewater, potentially weakening their offense. Oreo couldn't take advantage of the opportunity for Terrace City, crashing at 155 as it appears they will not win this game. Shaggy settled with 179 for the Shores, leaving them at 2319 overall, which should be enough to get the win. Stripes played a patient game, slowly accruing 895 for the Knights, but they still lost with 1882. Whitewater is on the brink of advancing with a 3-0 series lead and arguably the best offense in the playoffs.
Nissan Infinity Stadium, Infinity: The Torpedoes hope to build on yesterday's win as they return home in a tied series against the Volcanoes. Starlight had an excellent double-hit after a backhand save, but her pace cratered and she exited the game with 222 for Pacific after a bad deflection. Smudge nearly tripled that on her turn, hammering 659 for Infinity with great pace and a good swing. Ms. Kitty covered the damage by herself with 663 for the Volcanoes, returning the pressure onto the hosts. Solaris restored a lead for the Torpedoes, but a much weaker one as he hit 348 in the appearance. Leonette suffered through a cluttered pitch to end at 149 for Pacific, putting them in another dangerous position. Whiskers gave Infinity a stronger lead, slicing 530 on her turn to set them up well as the final players come to bat. Chicky Phil had great pace but some iffy placement work for the Volcanoes, his 460 ultimately sealing their loss at 1494. Mr. Snowman kept the offense in balance with 616 on his turn, helping the Torpedoes win with 2153. Infinity is proving quite the surprising team, now holding a 2-1 series lead over the regular season champions.
Chevrolet Field, Everton: The Eagles are back at home, but that may not be a blessing as they face the best road team in the league in the Swifts. Patches established the Boston well for a third straight game with 616 this time, an excellent effort from the visiting captain again. Goldy fired back with a stronger 818 for Everton, putting her side ahead early in the game for once. Puff II covered the deficit with 463 for the Swifts, but they still feel pressure coming from the hosts. Puff III has gone boom or bust for the Eagles in the playoffs, busting this time at 54 after a deflected ball landed squarely on her wicket. Gradley took advantage of the opportunity to pull Boston far ahead with 866 on his turn, nearly matching the hosts' entire previous offense. Kirstin sprayed 392 for Everton on a decent turn hindered by dead balls cluttering the pitch. Sweetheart picked up 441 for the Swifts at the end of their offense, icing their score at 2386. Blizzard covered the damage with her 487 for the Eagles, but they ended up suffering the loss with a total of 1751. Boston is back in the driver's seat with a 2-1 series lead after this win.
Apple Park, Todavía: The Stills are back home, reeling from a brutal pair of road defeats at the hands of the Warriors, who hope to keep their good play going. Twilight got caught off-guard by a fast-paced offering, ruining her well-taken turn at 450 for Central as her backhand attempt failed. Easter certainly made herself comfortable for Todavía, slamming 799 with pace to put the hosts ahead early on. Dustin made a meal of his early turn, with a deflection and an awkward backhand combining to cut him off at 31 for the Warriors. Sierra got into trouble with a subtle flick play, which deflected up and out of bounds to end her turn at 250 for the Stills. Mario failed to take advantage of the opportunity for Central, instead tapping 144 before an abrupt exit. Sparkles gave Todavía a modest boost with 250 on her turn as well, keeping their lead strong. Gizmo had an accidental backhand to seal the loss with 266 individually for a final score of 891. Bells tacked on a firm 688 at the end to send a message for the next game, as the Stills win with 1987. Todavía gets the win, but Central still has a 2-1 series lead.
Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: The Surfers are home now, looking to get ahead of a Pilots team not quite living up to expectations so far. Valencia left a path of destruction in her wake for Golden, slugging a huge 1431 to open the scoring quite favorably for the visitors. Watermelon got over half of it back for Pearl, using a very fast pace to gather 731 to offset some of the damage. Dusty did not relent on the second attack for the Pilots, battering another 970 to pad their lead quite nicely. Neopolitan gained a ton of ground with 1518 for the Surfers, making it a close game at the halfway mark. Strut had a poor turn of 246 for Golden, leaving the visitors vulnerable as the first to crumble under the pressure of the high-scoring game. Boots wasted the chance for Pearl to catch up, as she left with 225 in a likewise poor turn. A. Charlton couldn't secure the game for the Pilots either, fading at 112 to leave them with 2759 total. Wings fell with 263 for the Surfers, and they were just a bit short at 2737 in the narrow loss. Golden retakes the series lead at 2-1 with the narrow win here.
Henry Ford Memorial Stadium, Pronger: The Tridents had a bad game yesterday, but they hope being home will help them to slow down the Predators. Shawn had a decent beginning for Midland this time, posting 345 to give them their first bit of offense. Precious pushed forward with 448 for Pronger on her turn, giving the hosts a small initial lead. Rainmane countered fairly effectively with 536 for the Predators, putting them a bit farther ahead with the sturdy second attack. Zach tapped 311 on his turn for the Tridents, not quite enough to cover the deficit as the hosts fall behind at the midway mark. Leonardo picked up the pace even more for Midland, drilling 728 to pad their lead by a significant amount. Spot belted 1208 for Pronger in response, carrying them to a late lead ahead of the final players' turns. Fuchsia managed to force a response with 479 for the Predators, icing their score at 2088. Potter did more than enough with 736 for the Tridents to take the win at 2703. Pronger's late burst of points keeps them in the series, which now only favors Midland 2-1.
McDonald's Pitch at Pirates Park, Atlantic: The Pirates need to correct themselves quickly, as the Blades looking to keep the sweep hopes intact as they hit the road. Snowball had a somewhat indecisive turn of 336 for Swordpoint, again setting a meek tone early in the game. Delila defended the floor of the pitch well, but a deflection caught her up high and took out her wicket at just 111 for Atlantic. Dreamy absolutely clobbered the ball on her turn with 1144 for the Blades, giving them a massive lead with the second attack. Isabella attacked at a similar pace on a fierce counter for the Pirates, but she fell at 480 to leave a large deficit. Bandit didn't get much for Swordpoint on his turn with 122, allowing their lead to lose some stability. Americus made progress with 484 for Atlantic on her turn, cutting about half of the deficit away. Stealth staved off the danger with an extra 402 for the Blades, giving them 2004 total. Klaus only picked up 375 for the Pirates, falling well short of the mark as the hosts lose with 1450. Swordpoint now holds a 3-0 series lead after the confident victory.
Ebay Center, Queens: The Flames need to get a grip in their series with the Rockers now that they are home, and their opponents haven't played at their best yet. Misty pummeled another big performance for Westside, this time with 1189 to set the tone very favorably for her team. Crystal had a good start, but soon got split in slow-motion as a ball got under and over her bat to end her turn at 164 for Queens. Goatee slapped another 407 for the Rockers in a solid outing to pad their lead. Paige launched a decent counterattack with 684 for the Flames, cutting into the deficit at the halfway point. Midnight shot back with 515 for Westside on her turn, keeping the lead steady with her effort. Violetta continues to be the weak link for Queens, hitting a measly 51 once again to ruin their comeback chances. Slinks provided a nice 571 for the Rockers at the end, putting their final score at 2682. Max carved out 578 for the Flames at the end of the game on a nice turn, but his side lost with 1477. Westside is up 3-0 in the series now with another dominant outing.
That's all for today's games. Tomorrow, some teams might be eliminated as we reach the fourth game for each series.
