Elite Cricket 2018 - Week 19

Elite action returns today, hopefully with all of week 19 completed in a single session. We begin with...

Nissan Infinity Stadium, Infinity: The Torpedoes hope to correct a recent fade, sitting Shelley in the week 19 opener, while the Waves bench Jason V. as they launch an attack for fourth place. Snuggle accepted 737 for Oceanside after protesting turns at the initial first offering for poor pitch quality. Smudge took 471 back for Infinity, raising a vocal concern about the visitors' pickiness. Celestia countered that with 456 for the Waves, keeping their lead steady. Fluffina pulled the Torpedoes ahead with 894 on her turn, the aggressive counterattack working as intended. Josie tapped 348 for Oceanside, a deflection causing her abrupt exit. Solaris bested that with 592 for Infinity, boosting their lead a bit before the final players' turns. Dewey did alright with 380 for the Waves, but they took the loss at 1921, unable to meet the deficit. Mr. Snowman shelved 655 for good measure, surviving an early flurry to lead a pacey finish that gave the Torpedoes the win on 2612. Infinity relies on depth to get to 24-15, while Oceanside is down to 20-18 with the loss.

Ebay Center, Queens: The Flames sit Briana after her recent poor outing, while the Sharpshooters conclude a six-game road trip with Pauline on the bench to start their doubleheader. Chris got distracted for Capital City, shrugging a ball out of play to take a measly 25 points. Crystal tried to punish the mistake, but lifted a ball much too high and ended at 304 for Queens for a small lead. Missy took some risky swings for the Sharpshooters, but made it work in tallying 783 on the second attack. Violetta charged back with 623 for the Flames, covering the deficit with a defiant counterattack. Sprinkles replied with a good 487 for Capital City, regaining the lead at least on a temporary basis. Kyle stumbled at 225 for Queens, unable to cover the deficit for the hosts this time. Lorde pounded 551 for the Sharpshooters at the end, keeping them strong at a total of 1846. Hannah gained some ground with 615 for the Flames, but they still lost at 1767 overall. Capital City staves off the danger to get to 27-6, while Queens drops to 19-19, looking less likely to make a push for the Hutton Cup.

Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: The Sharpshooters return home to begin a six-game home stand, with Chris on the bench, while the Arrows begin a road doubleheader by sitting Dusky. Sally had some issues with pitch quality, but accepted 312 for Archtown to get things going. Missy shot back with a firm 840 to give Capital City a big lead on the initial turn. Ruby had only 340 for the Arrows in this game, unable to match the deficit. Sprinkles bombed forward with 2028 for the Sharpshooters, a massive turn to all but assure them of a win halfway through the game. Sleepy B. shot back with a strong 907 for Archtown, keeping their offense respectable. Lorde kept it simple with 260 for Capital City, their lead not threatened late in the game. Wild Thing pulled closer with 733, but the Arrows still took the loss on a total of 2292. Pauline had only 176 for the Sharpshooters, capping their win at 3304. Capital City rises to 28-6 now, clinching a spot in the Hutton Cup, while Archtown sinks to 12-23.

Home Depot Forum, Web City: The Arrows finish the doubleheader against Northeastern rivals, benching their captain Ruby, while the Spiders give Shadow likely his last game off this year. Sally picked up 487 for Archtown in less-than-ideal conditions for her turn. Ted shot back with 353 for Web City on his turn, getting most but not all of the deficit back on the first turn. Sleepy B. attacked with force in scoring 891 for the Arrows on the second attack. Sugar managed 272 for the Spiders this time, causing them to fall far behind at the midway mark. Dusky padded Archtown's lead with a hefty 502, keeping them in control of the game. Jack had 400 for Web City, as they slipped a bit more ahead of the final players' turns. Wild Thing tapped a solid 407 for the Arrows at the end, finishing their offense at 2287. Shiny went off with 790 for the Spiders at the end, but they still suffered the loss at 1815. Archtown gets a nice win to go 13-23, while Web City slips back to 17-20.

Honda Driftwood Coliseum, Pearl: The Tradewinds are fighting to maintain Elite status, and will sit Lionel as they visit the Surfers, who put Beth on the bench in this game. Tigerette started out decently with 417 for Commerce, giving the visitors a stable foundation for the game. Boots pulled back with 375 for Pearl, keeping it close after the first turn. Taylor did a bit better with 572 for the Tradewinds, boosting their lead with the pacey attack. Watermelon charged back with 695 for the Surfers, carrying them to a slight lead at the midway mark of the game. Rosemary made a strong response with 482 for Commerce, recovering the lead after her turn. Neopolitan had a slow pace to her turn after a cluttered pitch early on, and fell at 159 on a bad swing that sees Pearl fall behind late. Niki tacked on another 487 for the Tradewinds, finishing their offense at 1958. Bright couldn't make the comeback with 135 for the Surfers, leaving them to lose with 1364. Commerce moves into the last safe position at 16-18, while Pearl drops to 20-18 with the loss.

Cisco Tysini Field, Tysini: The Arrows continue their road trip, sitting Wild Thing this time out, while the Hummingbirds look to strengthen themselves while benching Leandra. Sally did well with 487 for Archtown to open the scoring, giving the visitors a positive start. Princess made a mess of her turn with only 87 for Tysini, leaving them at quite the early deficit. Ruby fired back with another 567 for the Arrows, putting them even farther ahead with another good turn. Charli picked up 471 in response for the Hummingbirds, just about halving the deficit. Sleepy B. belted 1031 for Archtown this time, extending their lead to likely untouchable heights. Brownie had an alright 311 for Tysini, but they look down and out for this one. Dusky slammed 826 more for the Arrows at the end, icing their big win at 2911 to end quite a productive week. Paps clubbed 504 for the Hummingbirds, setting their losing total at 1373. Archtown rises again to 14-23, while Tysini drops back to 21-16.

Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: The Sharpshooters look to sweep a home-and-home from the Flames this week, with Kyle sitting for the visitors and Lorde on the bench for the hosts. Crystal had a modest 256 for Queens, putting them in a vulnerable position right from the start of the game. Chris crushed 1025 for Capital City to give them a massive lead early on. Violetta couldn't get into a groove for the Flames, settling with a poor 235 as they remain behind. Missy added 517 for the Sharpshooters in a good supporting attack at the halfway mark. Briana couldn't change Queens' output with 264 on her turn, keeping them at a deficit. Sprinkles, tuckered out from her previous effort, hit 295 for Capital City this time to simply maintain their current lead. Hannah fell at 240 for the Flames, leaving them in a loss with 995. Pauline had 276 for the Sharpshooters, finishing their win at 2113. Capital City jumps to 29-6 with the win, while Queens drops to 19-20, falling more into danger with each loss.

Nike Field, Commerce: The Tradewinds start a home doubleheader by ending a home-and-home series with the Surfers. Tigerette sits for the hosts, while the visitors rest Bright. Boots started with 472 for Pearl this time, giving them a decent first appearance in the game. Taylor tried to flick a ball, but sent it too high, ending with an ugly 36 for Commerce. Watermelon had to grind to get to 647 for the Surfers, but the effort was worth the large extension to the visitors' lead. Lionel had only 66 for the Tradewinds this time, making the deficit even worse with another poor attack. Neopolitan took 448 for Pearl, continuing to boost their lead against a harmless-thus-far opponent. Rosemary had a good 383 for Commerce, but that doesn't offset much of the damage already done. Beth contributed 487 for the Surfers, keeping their support balanced as they finish with 2054 in a fifth-straight 2k road effort. Niki faltered with 160 for the Tradewinds, confirming a brutal loss at 645. Pearl rises to 21-18, while Commerce drops to 16-19.

Nike Field, Commerce: The Tradewinds complete the doubleheader against the second-place Torpedoes. Taylor sits for the hosts this time, while the visitors surprisingly sit Mr. Snowman. Smudge drilled 671 right away for Infinity, trying to put the hosts in a deep hole at the start. Tigerette answered with 418 for Commerce, a reliable and steady first attack this time. Fluffina had a mild 280 for the Torpedoes on the second attack, leaving their lead a bit weaker. Lionel suffered a deflection to fall with 39 for the Tradewinds, making things worse again for the hosts. Solaris started with a wild swing, but when he settled, he was quickly taken out at 98 for Infinity. Rosemary put up a solid 375 for Commerce, cutting into the deficit slightly but not enough just yet. Shelley nearly made a play on her backhand, but had to take 432 when the play went out of bounds, leaving the Torpedoes at a total of 1481. Niki pulled off a full rally with 972 for the Tradewinds, giving them a comeback win at 1804. Commerce stays in the hunt for safety at 17-19, while Infinity takes another fall to 24-16.

McDonald's Pitch at Pirates Park, Atlantic: The Pirates have a tripleheader to close week 19, beginning at home, where they sit Max against the visiting Spiders, who have Sugar on the bench. Shadow had a weak 164 for Web City to begin their road finale, leaving them exposed. Delila chipped 400 for Atlantic, easing up a bit toward the end of the turn but still earning a lead. Ted floated his third swing up and out of play, ending with a pitiful 21 as the Spiders collapse early. Isabella couldn't do anything about a deflected offering slipping over her bat to take her wicket at just 99 for the Pirates. Jack tried to make a backhand play on a dipping ball, which got under his bat and stalled him at 336 for Web City. Steven fought back with 361 for Atlantic, a mild attack serving the purpose of reclaiming a noticeable lead. Shiny had a poor 199 for the Spiders, unable to force the hosts to respond as the visitors lost with 720. Klaus snagged 344 for the Pirates to ice their win at 1204. Atlantic rises to 21-15, while Web City is 17-21 on the year.

Capital City SuperCenter, Capital City: The Sharpshooters can clinch the Elite division with a win, sitting Pauline, while the Pirates open their last, six-game road trip with Isabella on the bench. Delila converted 448 for Atlantic despite playing at a lower pace for much of her turn. Chris countered with 407 for Capital City, keeping the hosts close despite not covering the initial deficit. Steven couldn't get his pace up either against good bowling by the hosts, as the Pirates gained only 186 on this turn. Missy picked up 384 for the Sharpshooters this time, giving them the lead by a small margin. Klaus played one deflection well for Atlantic, but the next one stopped him at 448, allowing them to recover the deficit. Sprinkles had only 252 for Capital City this time, making the final turn more interesting than it should be. Max provided 319 for the Pirates at the end, putting their final score at 1401. Lorde secured the win with 583 for the Sharpshooters, for a final score of 1626. Capital City clinches Elite at 30-6, while Atlantic is 21-16.

Nike Field, Commerce: The Tradewinds are back in action, with Lionel sitting for the first time at home all year, while the Pirates bench Steven for the week 19 finale. Delila had better form, but a shorter turn as well, falling at a decent 360 for Atlantic to lead off this game. Tigerette hauled in 548 for Commerce on their opening turn, giving them a slight lead at first. Isabella slugged 1170 for the Pirates on the second attack, a surprising burst to give them a massive advantage. Taylor picked up 432 for the Tradewinds, but they are now behind by a noticeable amount. Klaus went with 282 for Atlantic this time, unwilling to test his luck on a technical error replay that he declined. Rosemary gained 547 for Commerce, making progress in the comeback effort before the final players' turns. Max supplied 324 for the Pirates at the end, bringing their final score to 2136. Niki tried to make a rally, but her 408 left the Tradewinds short at 1935. Atlantic is up to 22-16 now, while Commerce drops to 17-20 with the loss.

That's all for Elite this week. Premier is scheduled to go tomorrow.
