We're set for some evening play in the Hutton Cup, as the Game 2 part of the Quarterfinals will be played later in the day. We begin with...
Amazon Field, Golden: The Pilots are behind and will sit their captain Valencia in game 2, while the Pirates have had a recent surge and sit Klaus after his bad performance. Delila kept Atlantic in good form with her 839, a fantastic start from the visiting captain. Dusty began with 575 for Golden in this one, a positive attack to keep them competitive despite the deficit. Isabella shot back with 527 for the Pirates on their second attack, maintaining the lead pretty well. Strut tried to make a rally but fell at 460 for the Pilots, causing them to lose a little more ground at the midway mark. Steven had a shaky 148 for Atlantic, weakening their lead at an inopportune time. No harm was done, as Sparkles got beat on a deflection at just 45 points, a pathetic effort to erase Golden's comeback hopes. Max didn't secure the game at all for the Pirates, his 96 giving them a total of 1610. A. Charlton collapsed at 112 for the Pilots, and they took the loss on a total of 1192. Atlantic heads home leading the series 2-0.
Coca-Cola Field, Boston: The Swifts are confident that resting their captain Patches will be fine, while the Sharpshooter are resting Sprinkles for another game. Chris posted a decent 392 for Capital City on their first turn, a productive outing from the captain. Puff II took up the mantle of big attacks for Boston lead-off hitters, recording a great 865 to stake out their early lead. Missy slipped at 152 for the Sharpshooters, leaving questions about her finger as the visitors fall clearly behind. Gradley showed much quality in dealing with deflections, only falling on a high-arcing ball that downed him at 487 for the Swifts. Lorde pulled in 608 for Capital City, trying to make a dent in the deficit facing her team. Sweetheart slipped up at 202 for Boston, showing a bit of fatigue from having played a lot. Pauline had only 144 for the Sharpshooters, a second bad turn dooming them to another loss at the start of the series on a total of 1296. Ice Cream provided another 400 for the Swifts at the end, capping their win at 1954. Boston leaves home with a 2-0 series lead.
Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint: The Blades are without Dreamy due to rest, while the Torpedoes have their captain Smudge on the bench for the same reason. Fluffina cherished a rare lead-off opportunity, smacking 512 for Infinity to get them going in a positive manner. Snowball had a quick turn, taking 355 for Swordpoint to cut into the deficit a bit early on. Solaris looked timid again for the Torpedoes, falling at 233 on a deflection to weaken their lead. Bandit also suffered a deflection, his 304 only covering part of the deficit for the Blades. Shelley got Infinity back on track with her 467, extending the lead for the visitors with a strong turn. Stealth kept things close with 439 for Swordpoint, but the hosts will have to make a move next turn to flip the result. Mr. Snowman didn't make that easy with his 469, keeping the Torpedoes ahead on a total of 1681. Jason N. fell far short of the mark with 58 for the Blades, giving them a losing total of 1156. Infinity has snagged a game on the road, tying the series ahead of their pair of home games.
Cisco Tysini Field, Tysini: The Hummingbirds have Charli on the bench for rest, while the Crowns are sitting Kayla for the same reason as lots of offense will sit this game 2 out. Jake got beat early in his turn, ending on just 48 for Royal in a poor first turn. Princess struggled a bit as well for Tysini, but her 262 did give the hosts a slight lead. Jeremias had another sloppy turn for the Crowns with just 21 points, their offense hardly showing up in the game at all. Leandra had a poor 162 for the Hummingbirds, making a small extension to their lead in a pitiful game so far. Nightfur busted things open with 685 for Royal, rallying her team into the lead for now. Brownie collapsed at 12 for Tysini, misplaying the third offering out of bounds to cause the hosts to fall behind. Cassie had 314 for the Crowns at the end, capping their low offense at 1068. Paps couldn't complete a comeback for the Hummingbirds, his 366 leaving them short on a total of 802. Royal gets by with less than their best, tying the series at 1 before they head home.
That's all for the game 2s. Game 3s will be played sometime tomorrow, yet to be determined.
