We're back for game 5s, and maybe we'll see some of the series settled here. We begin with...
Coca-Cola Field, Boston: The Swifts have Ice Cream on the bench for her pool appearances, while the Sharpshooters will sit Lorde for the same reason in another must-win game. Chris couldn't get much pace for Capital City to start the game, ending his opening turn at 317. Patches countered with 544 for Boston on their first turn, good enough to put the hosts ahead initially. Missy had to take a replay after a technical error, but the second attempt yielded just 160 for the Sharpshooters. Puff II took a slight downturn as well with 250 for the Swifts, who maintain a noticeable lead. Sprinkles looks to play the hero for Capital City, slapping a quick 685 to put the visitors ahead for now. Gradley fired back with 532 for Boston, enough for the hosts to recover the lead late in the game. Pauline did alright with 271 for the Sharpshooters, forcing a response from the hosts as her side ends with 1433. Sweetheart left no doubt for the Swifts with 648, icing their win at 1974. Boston took the series in a 4-1 win to make it to the semifinals, with Gradley as the series MVP.
Cisco Tysini Field, Tysini: The Hummingbirds will rest Brownie for this game, while the Crowns have done better without Jake and will sit him again in this game. Kayla got sloppy at the end of her turn, but it was a tone-setting 808 for Royal to stake out a large lead right away. Princess couldn't make much of an answer with 176 for Tysini, a weak performance that sees them in trouble. Jeremias slashed another 700 for the Crowns on the second attack, marching them even farther ahead. Leandra had an ugly 126 for the Hummingbirds, allowing the deficit to grow significantly. Nightfur shot back with 768 for Royal, another huge extension to strengthen their lead against a crushed opponent. Charli tried to make a late rally with 663 for Tysini, keeping the deficit steady since the halfway point. Cassie fell with only 126 for the Crowns in the end, leaving them at a total of 2402. Paps went at a high pace, but fell at 353 as the Hummingbirds see their season end with a loss at 1318. Royal takes the series 4-1, with Nightfur the clear MVP here. The Crowns will meet the Swifts in the Semifinals.
Blades Fusion ProGlide Park, Swordpoint: One of these teams will gain an advantage in the series, with Snowball sitting for the hosts and the visitors benching Solaris. Smudge hit a crisp 617 for Infinity to lead things off, giving the visitors quite a positive start to the game. Dreamy made a mess of the response for Swordpoint, only able to pick up 64 points in a pitiful outing. Smudge gathered another 345 for the Torpedoes on the second attack, extending their lead a little bit. Bandit made an impressive rally with 810 for the Blades, cutting deeply into the deficit at the halfway mark. Shelley countered with 501 for Infinity, restoring some of their lead with her attack. Stealth went to his backhand on a flick, but sent the ball far too high, ending on a measly 85 for Swordpoint. Mr. Snowman couldn't get a touch on a ball that deflected behind his bat, ending at just 52 as the Torpedoes finish vulnerable with 1515. Jason N. did virtually the same thing on his turn, closing with a weak 55 as the Blades lose on a total of 1014. Infinity has retaken the series lead at 3-2, but there's plenty of time for things to change again.
Amazon Field, Golden: The Pilots are without Dusty, having postponed her rest as long as possible, while the Pirates will rest Delila again in their first chance to clinch the series. Isabella tried to get Atlantic going early on, but she fell with a poor 137 after falling out of rhythm. Valencia answered with 817 for Golden, establishing their lead quite well after the first turn. Steven managed only 213 for the Pirates on the second attack, hardly affecting the deficit at all. Strut didn't do much better with 245 for the Pilots, but his team is still comfortably ahead at the midway mark. Klaus tried to get Atlantic going in a positive direction, but he had some low swings and ended at 392. Sparkles replied with 339 for Golden, ceding a small amount of the lead away ahead of the final players' turns. Max couldn't complete the comeback with 364 for the Pirates, leaving them short in a loss on 1106. A. Charlton lifted 570 for the Pilots at the end, capping their win at 1971. Golden stays alive, cutting Atlantic's series lead to 3-2.
We'll call it good for today right now, with the remaining two series scheduled to end tomorrow morning.
